I was also thinking wooden dowels, cut to size. More expensive than bamboo (should it grow in your yard, like it does mine), but cheaper than clay, I think?
During gardening season, a lot of our stores have the bamboo sticks one can tie plants to. They’re rather irregular, because Nature, but that would be charming, sustainable, and fairly cheap. Love both of these!!
Oh, the second lamp is fabulous! I can see from looking at your cost list that using real wood branches would really bring down the cost. I live in the country & have been collecting branches for years, thinking I wanted to cover a large wooden frame I have with them. But now - a hanging lamp sounds pretty nice! Thanks so much for the tut.
I looooove the second one- such a good idea pulling out the clay on that one, I never would have thought of that! That's why you're the DIY queen. Sadly I don't have any place in my house for pendant lights...but now I'm thinking a cool artsy mirror with polymer clay... hmm
Legal ver outro brazuca por aqui. Muitos dos materiais a gente acha em feira de usados ou bazar de caridades (a cúpula do abajur já vi muito em loja de usados). O segundo modelo com gravetos deve ficar legal né?
She says right in the video (at the start of the 2nd lamp shade), “But you can source a white drum shade from anywhere please thrift this for less...”. ☺️
The idea with the bamboo is ingenious! Paint it white and - voila! I’m sure it would look even better than the store-bought, but then again; I love bamboo ❤️
Love them both! I only wish the shades were the same proportions/shape as the originals (shorter and wider) since I feel like that's part of why they look so chic. Harder to do when sourcing an actual shade for the first one, but totally doable with the second shade since you get to decide how long the sticks are and how far apart to place the rings. Still love them both!
I looooove that you do the math based on if you were to buy everything because not all of us have everything so it's great to know how much would it really cost us! 👏👏👏thank you! 😘
I don’t usually like when DIYers change certain aspects of what they are trying to dupe but I really like the different yarn color you chose. It really pops! Also I love the Freya lamp and would probably try to dupe it too if I had a space for it. I like that you went with clay. I thought you were going to use wooden dowels but that would have removed the organic vibe. I would attempt dowels and cover them in a thin layer of air dry clay. That would probably be a lot lighter too. Love them both!
You definitely succeeded with both of these! I really want to try them out myself! 😍 For the second lampshade I think it would've worked fine making your own clay (like saltdough clay) and thus also minimizing the cost a bit.
Loved them both, but was so shocked you had made the “sticks” for the second lamp! I’m thinking about sourcing bamboo sticks to make a more wood like duplicate. I loved the “embroidered” one as well. My colors are more boho or southwest, but love the idea. I’m thinking some cross stitching would be so cute. Great job.
@Proverbial Woman fantastic ideas. Btw, I just checked the garden center at Home Depot in the US and they sell a pack of 6 (6ft tall) all natural bamboo garden stakes for $ 2.98
DIY theory: is it maybe possible to replace the clay with foam dowels and maybe change up their shape by heating them with a heat gun or a hand held sander. Anyways, ty for another great video! Looking forward to more!
Wow, I've been watching your videos on and off, but I have to say that I'm absolutely impressed with the quality of every diy you do AND the format of your videos! I also appreciate when you break down costs in CAD :) Congrats on the new house btw!
Thanks for this series! It’s realistic and the stuff you make will actually last and look great. I hate DIY’s that upcycle things into something worse than it was before, o it just doesn’t look good.
Danie love both but the second one definetely my favourite. A while ago I have pulled apart an old lampshade because started to break up the plastic inside. Now I know what can I do with them and as somebody suggested use bamboo brilliant. I have my own bamboo forest and I alway can paint it white or any other colors. Thank you for your ideas. Love your Mum studio. Does she do youtube?😍😘
Hi Danie! I discovered you on Alex's channel doing makeovers for small spaces. I wished I lived in Canada! I would so be your friend! I love DIY and doing high-quality dupes! I think you are so talented....love your channel and will be watching more! Thanks so much for posting! My daughter (her name is Alexz too!) is moving into a small studio apartment and will need ideas to make her new place a home. With her moving it is a two for one deal because i get to makeover my space after she leaves and help her with her new space...! Yea! We are both so excited. We will both be staying tuned! Thanks. Love your energy and your channel! Peace!
I loved both lamp shades!! The stitch lampshade looks easier to make for a beginner like me!! I like the idea of sticks or bamboo for the 2nd lampshade too!! Awesome job Danie!! Always so much fun watching!!
I’m trying to have a woodsy feel in my room and I love this!!!! Thank you!!! It’s expensive but it’s still cheaper and how amazing to say you made it!!!! I actually bought this bundle of really long white slightly wavy sticks from Micheal’s! They were like $3.00!!! Haha I can’t wait to try it!!
Dani you're so much fun to watch! I think the second project looks like it could fall down because of its weight! I like what others suggested using bamboo and a second hand shade ( much cheaper too). The first one looks like fun but alot of measuring!
I like both but the clay one I like a little bit better because I don't like the look of the inside of the first shade. It would have looked cleaner if the pattern repeated on the inside even though it would have probably been more work. But maybe leaving one of the ends a bit longer and connecting it with glue to the shorter end would have been an option, so that it looks cleaner but you don't have to knot every single string :) I wish you a nice weekend! 😊
The Freya shade inspired me. I have bamboo in my back yard that would totally work for this. Spray painting it would be easy! So cool. Thanks for the inspo. 🙌🏻🎋
Once again you nailed both and you are mind blowingly talented PERFECTION !!!! I love your sense of humor. I would most definitely dupe these you make it achievable. I love you mommas room too 👏🏽❤️❤️❤️❤️
Love them both. The first one could be so flexible because you could do it in any color you wanted really. The second one I will definitely be looking for steps since I live in the woods on top of mountain that shouldn't be too hard. Thanks Dani
Perfect timing! I just picked up a lamp at flea market this morning. It needs a shade. This was inspiring. I'm restraining it and painting the base as well.
Both are very nice. One thing that you could(should) have mentioned is that just like any other wood to build with, you need to let the sticks cure and dry out. Fresh willow or other twigs change their diameter down the road because they lose moisture, so your polymer solution was a better, albeit heavier choice for spontaneous diy-ers.
Love that last light fixture! Thank you for doing that extra math. I enjoy knowing how much u had to spend but appreciate knowing the cost from scratch! Think I'll have to do that polymer hack!!!
Great ideas. Think the first lamp is worth splurging on a special yarn. In the original one of the crosses has a distinct pattern that is a big part of its appeal. The black with white flecks you chose looked solid black in the pictures but it is still an attractive lamp for a LOT less. The second one might take more time than I would have to give to it unless I spaced it over several days or weekends but it is a great job. Looks wintry!
I always get so excited for your new uploads!!! Also I’m from the east coast of Canada and call pencil crayons “pencil crayons” but everyone here calls them “leads”... it made me so happy to hear you say pencil crayon hahahaha
I love both of these-I would make both of these and could change up the designs in the first one just to match a specific decor! I especially love the Freya lamp and would love to have that for myself! Love your ideas and I especially love your sense of humor and all the play with words and phrases! Makes me laugh!!
Wow they both look incredible! I just ordered 16 lbs of clay to make 2 of those. Luckily I have everything except the clay and the spray mod podge. You always inspire me girl!
I love them both! I do have several metal lampshade frames and probably 100 lbs of sculpey/FIMO, though not all white, I could spray paint afterwards... I don't have any pendant lamps in need of an upgrade, but I do have several floor lamps that could use an upgrade....
Dani: You did a great job on the lamp shades I intend to make the stick lamp shade using real stick from pine trees with the bark still on them. The stick are also suitable for spray painting, so I will make it in different colors if the design calls for it.
The stick lamp shade could've been made with bamboo stakes you can get in the garden center at Home Depot cheap! Then cut them & spray paint them white!! Yours was beautiful but the price!!😳 I really liked the cross stitch lamp shade! So simple with a big WoW!!
Oh my gosh... So, creative and so darn cute. To hard to choose. Love them both. I'm thinking the "stick lamp shade" you could of used wood dowels from either the craft store or hardware. But, than you would of needed paint. (Just a passing thought) Can it be done ✔ yes it can... How awesome is this. Pretty darn awesome. Thank you Diy Danie....I would choose Diying over buying. The high from accomplishment stays with you for a long time. P.S. Loved the segment with Diy Danie and Alexandra "Diy or Buy" it paved the way for both of their channels today and hopefully for a long time to come.
For the first one, you could still save on the lampshade by thrifting it. Thrift stores have a decent selection, just give it a good disinfectant spray and your good 👍
Could you have used dowel rods for the chandelier? I was just thinking sticks have a uniform size. I love your videos I am totally useless at DIYs. I usually have the ideas and make my sister complete them
That's a good idea. And you could use something like an apoxy sculpt to make them look a bit more organic. Add a bump or knot to a few places on each rod like a stick would have.
This was great. I would try both of them. I have lampshades and lots of sticks. I would just have to get really strong glue sticks. Thanks for this great series. I love it, who doesn't want really beautiful stuff for cheap or at least reasonable. I always look forward to your chuckle.
Love both Dupes which are Extremely pricey ,however my fave is the branches shade .. was a unique take in it... Loved it ... Surprised you didn't get branches from the trees everywhere there...+19 score for your Dupes, Clever is Dania !!
I absolutely loved both of them. I will be looking out for second hand lamp shades. Fortunately I live in the country right in the middle of a tree limb harvest. So sticks are plentiful, I think I will try collecting some, since picking up sticks is a regular activity here! Lol
I’m going to venture to make this shade! One question. How did you get the cord through the finial hole? Or did you do something else? Also I made your air plant hanger one for a friend and one for my sister! I made hers a two tier and tried my hand at macrame. It look more like a school project I was bring home to mom! “Look what I did in school today!!😃” Thanks a bunch for your great ideas!
Both lamps look great. However, the first one seemed easier to make. The 2nd one seemed too much work. I would have used Bamboo skewers. Nevertheless, it turned out great too. You are a great diyer. Cant wait for you to move into your home. 🖐🖐
You could take a thrift store shade and use bamboo. It wouldn't look as "organic" but would still be awesome. Great job as always Danie!
That’s a good idea! And it would weight a lot less too! 👍🏼
I think I would like it better with natural bamboo, that white looks a bit odd
I was also thinking bamboo sticks would work. They're not always uniform, but could still look cool. I do love how the clay turned out.
I was also thinking wooden dowels, cut to size. More expensive than bamboo (should it grow in your yard, like it does mine), but cheaper than clay, I think?
Bamboo...great idea. Dollar Stores also sell packs of bamboo sticks.
who else comes for the diy and stays for danie’s jokes...just me? lovin’ em!!!🤣
She's amazing
I just subbed after that first doozie! Here for content, subs for the corn.
Her sense of humor is so punderful! That on top of her creativity has me hooked.
@@Jen_S_Hassler1258 totally agree!
I can relate to her sense of humor, I mean how can you not especially with mistakes.
Anyone else never attempted a DIY project yet they are following a bunch of great DIYers ?🤣
I just appreciate the craft. I would cry and throw things I'd I tried anything like this.
used to be me then I started doing them!
I wouldn't say I've never attempted a DIY, but certainly I'm nowhere near Danie's level.
Lol no I diy 😬 try it!
I've fallen down the rabbit hole and I'm now making mood boards for rooms I don't own
During gardening season, a lot of our stores have the bamboo sticks one can tie plants to. They’re rather irregular, because Nature, but that would be charming, sustainable, and fairly cheap.
Love both of these!!
GREAT IDEA!

I thought the second shade would make a good floor lamp
Came for the diy and stayed because her energy
From brazil so dont have same materials, cant do
But is ok, I'm training my english.
Legal ver outro brazuca por aqui. Muitos dos materiais a gente acha em feira de usados ou bazar de caridades (a cúpula do abajur já vi muito em loja de usados). O segundo modelo com gravetos deve ficar legal né?
...and you’re doing a great job...keep up the good work!
You could also thrift a lamp shade for so much less than home depot has it.
She says right in the video (at the start of the 2nd lamp shade), “But you can source a white drum shade from anywhere please thrift this for less...”. ☺️
She has a partnership with home depot
The idea with the bamboo is ingenious! Paint it white and - voila! I’m sure it would look even better than the store-bought, but then again; I love bamboo ❤️
@@willsoe1 Bamboo would work even better than the clay and would be much lighter in weight. Good idea!
yup and you can thrift the yarn too
Alright, your Mom's studio is #goals.
Danie, I think my husband hates that I watch you on a Saturday because then I decide on a DIY project for the weekend that I end up roping him into 🤣
Love them both! I only wish the shades were the same proportions/shape as the originals (shorter and wider) since I feel like that's part of why they look so chic. Ok so I had a bunch of clay....I’ve gluing these clay sticks on everything, vases, canisters etc. They are amazing! Brilliant!
def doable - especially if you thrift the lamp shades.

I was thinking bamboo too! If you find a good source please post it!
@Proverbial Woman fantastic ideas. Btw, I just checked the garden center at Home Depot in the US and they sell a pack of 6 (6ft tall) all natural bamboo garden stakes for $ 2.98
That's exactly what I was thinking! Dollarama has bamboo sticks for so cheap!
Menards also sells Bamboo rods. If they're not in the store, check online😉
And Bamboo is much lighter😉
They look nice, I like ghe first shade it adds a touch of coziness. The power of positivity has such an impact on all aspects of crafting.
DIY theory: is it maybe possible to replace the clay with foam dowels and maybe change up their shape by heating them with a heat gun or a hand held sander. Anyways, ty for another great video! Looking forward to more!
The Sculpey sticks look wonderful. It's a lot more work, but you really nailed the look of the original.
Wow, I've been watching your videos on and off, but I have to say that I'm absolutely impressed with the quality of every diy you do AND the format of your videos! I also appreciate when you break down costs in CAD :) Congrats on the new house btw!
Loved the second lamp!
Roses are red,
Ms. Danie is best at DIY,
She looks like a sophisticated spy.
She does look like it haha
Wow 👏 😮 👏
Thanks for this series! It’s realistic and the stuff you make will actually last and look great. I hate DIY’s that upcycle things into something worse than it was before, o it just doesn’t look good.
I was DEFINITELY skeptical about the second lamp while you were making it, but I LOVE how it turned out 😍
Oh that chandelier made with drift wood would be amazing 😍
I just imagine that 8lbs of hard clay falling on my head.
They both turned out so cute, but the freya dupe is my fav. It looks very very expensive, and its MAGICAL at night with the light on. Good work Danie!
Danie love both but the second one definetely my favourite. A while ago I have pulled apart an old lampshade because started to break up the plastic inside. I was all set to hate the 2nd lampshade but nope, it is GORGEOUS! Great job!
I love the Freya pending light the most, it's extraordinary! Thank you for showing, although I think I'd go into the woods searching for the sticks :D

The Freya shade inspired me. I have bamboo in my back yard that would totally work for this. Spray painting it would be easy! So cool. Thanks for the inspo. 🙌🏻🎋
That Freya lamp is stunning! I actually want to give it a try. Also can i say i really enjoy your clay projects, we need more of these!
Oh my! The stick lampshade is brilliant. And, using Sculptey clay, genius!
Once again you nailed both and you are mind blowingly talented PERFECTION !!!! I love your sense of humor. I would most definitely dupe these you make it achievable. I love you mommas room too 👏🏽❤️❤️❤️❤️
That stick lamp dupe!!!!!! OMG! LOVE IT!!!!!
That was GREAT! Your lamp shades looked just like the originals for sure.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE The Freya!!!! Well Done!!

I always get so excited for your new uploads!!! Also I’m from the east coast of Canada and call pencil crayons “pencil crayons” but everyone here calls them “leads”... it made me so happy to hear you say pencil crayon hahahaha
Love the Freya chandelier...great idea rolling out the sticks...
I’d totally recreate the freya, that turned out STUNNINGLY beautiful!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Wow!!!! That Freya dupe is immmmmmpresssive! And what a savings! Thanks for sharing.
LOVE, Love, love that 2nd lamp shade.
Such a nice energy to wake up to! Would love to see a studio tour video!
I definitely would make this white lamp for my home. Especially now that I have a new home decor challenge in front of me. Love this one!
That studio is the bomb!!! Adding this to my dream list !!
Love the second lamp!!! The first one I would diy to because I can choose my one colors.
Your mind is amazing. I also love your Mom's studio.
I love both of these-I would make both of these and could change up the designs in the first one just to match a specific decor! I especially love the Freya lamp and would love to have that for myself! Love your ideas and I especially love your sense of humor and all the play with words and phrases! Makes me laugh!!
love both lamps, the cross stitch looks like it would be lovely in my living room
I would totally make the stick lamp! Love this,
These are gorgeous! I love the Frea shade!!
LOVE this video!!! I'm making both of these for my salon!!! Love the look of both!!
Wow they both look incredible! I just ordered 16 lbs of clay to make 2 of those. Luckily I have everything except the clay and the spray mod podge. You always inspire me girl!
Both turned out beautifully
I liked the frays chandelier!! Really pretty!
I absolutely love the clay twig lamp. I am going to use the idea on a small lamp I already own. This is going to be fun.
love the freya / sticks chandelier. really beautiful!
Your mum's studio is divine !!
Compliments! Love both projects, very nice lampeshades!
I love them both! I do have several metal lampshade frames and probably 100 lbs of sculpey/FIMO, though not all white, I could spray paint afterwards... I don't have any pendant lamps in need of an upgrade, but I do have several floor lamps that could use an upgrade....
My fav is the chandelier! Love your videos you always put me in such a great mood! Thank you 😘❣
Dani: You did a great job on the lamp shades I intend to make the stick lamp shade using real stick from pine trees with the bark still on them. The stick are also suitable for spray painting, so I will make it in different colors if the design calls for it.
Love love love your videos! Those lights are AMAZING! Great job!
Would definitely make the second one out of bamboo shoots that have died/dried in my garden. Great job!
The stick lamp shade could've been made with bamboo stakes you can get in the garden center at Home Depot cheap! Then cut them & spray paint them white!! Yours was beautiful but the price!!😳 I really liked the cross stitch lamp shade! So simple with a big WoW!!
Both of these lamps are beautiful!! I think I would use the first one in my home as it's more my style
Love the Freya dupe! I'm definitely gonna try it in my next place, but I think I'll try and source sticks. Thanks for the idea!
That clay lamp is stellar!! I want to make it so bad!
Oh my gosh... So, creative and so darn cute. To hard to choose. Love them both. I'm thinking the "stick lamp shade" you could of used wood dowels from either the craft store or hardware. But, than you would of needed paint. (Just a passing thought)
Can it be done ✔ yes it can...
WOW I am impressed! I couldn't decide I Love them both! Well done! ❤
Thank you Danie, my favorite is the second one. Congratulations!
I just want to know if Danie considered wooden dowels from Home Depot. They cost less than $1 each and wouldn't have been as heavy as clay.
Love this idea of Dani showing us how to making it for less!
For the first one, you could still save on the lampshade by thrifting it. Thrift stores have a decent selection, just give it a good disinfectant spray and your good 👍
I would make both shades. Unique lighting is my love. But I think I will go with hunting for sticks. Awesome inspo once again.
Love both lamps! 💕 So clever to use polymerclay!😀
Danie the lights turned out really nice! The Freya light was my favorite.
Hey DIY Danie! Love your work! 😍 Can you do a diy wooden legged tri-pod lamp? I would love to see that!
“Look what I did in school today!!😃”
Thanks a bunch for your great ideas!
I love this series. Once again, beautiful job!
The second one you could use dowels or bamboo for the lampshade upcycle or from thrift store.
Both lamps look great. However, the first one seemed easier to make. The 2nd one seemed too much work. I would have used Bamboo skewers. Nevertheless, it turned out great too. You are a great diyer. Cant wait for you to move into your home. 🖐🖐
The Freya! Goooorrrrrgeous!!!
