I watch this video every.single.time I use my machine! I don't know why I can't remember all the steps. Thank you for the great video.
Evy has comedic tendencies! I can watch her allllll day. Makes me wanna buy another Babylock...thanks Evy!
Evy is a great instructor, I've read my guide book at least 6 times, but her demonstration and explanation gave me a more clear idea of how to thread my machine. Love her demonstrations!
Evy is awesome! So glad her videos helped you! Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know!!
Thank you Dianne!
Best video teacher
Thank you for making everything so clear. I’ve had a machine for three years and have needed the help you just provided. Video was super clear, sound perfect, and your delivery fabulous..
Mine sat unused as long because I did not learn the threading, forgetting how!
Evy, what wonderful clear instructions! That was awesome. Your sewing space is so bright and cheerful. Just the way creative spaces should be. You motivated me to go make something beautiful today;)
Your contributions to we sewists, who are still confused about how differently the Sashiko
makes stitches, are welcomed and 2016-recent. Mine is a Sashiko I that I bought, just at the same time as this improved II came out. Being uninformed was disappointing. There has to be thread RUNNING adequately on the prototype, and will learn the best way.
So glad this video was helpful! Be sure to check out the entire free online class over at Sew at Home: babylock.com/sewing/sashiko2/

Wow, now I’m inspired to play more with my machine👍🏻 Thank you so much.
Excellent teacher...I love analogies when I teach, it really helps people learn more easily. Hmm, may have to get one of these. Hard to find in South Florida on a sales floor...
Thank you so much for your perfect tutorial.
God bless you for this video!!
Thanks
I just got a sashiko sewing machine and am learning how to use it. Thank you for this instructional video. Together with the manual, it is helping me figure things out. Why shouldn't I use my Sidewinder bobbin winder for this machine? Does it cause problems?
Evy is just as sweet as she is in the video. And has other Great videos. Check them all. FOR THE LOVE.
Thanks for the video. It does help a lot. Do you know if BL sells that bobbin for the Sashiko I?
I like to watch your Video but since 3 howers I try to bring the bobby thread into the sashiko!
Could you show how to trouble shoot looping underneath the fabric please. Thank you.
Hi, is it possible to stitch on jeans, linen and hemp fabric? I have heard that it is may be too thick for this machine? Thank you for your answer ;-)
Got my sashiko recently and I asked myself: if I want to sew a dress on vacation completely with the sashiko, can I use for example a zipper foot with it?
I purchased the babylock class 15 bobbins BLG-BOB. I don’t notice a blue tint and I can’t find any Babylock bobbins with a blue tint. How do you get those?
Evie, you do a great job on the demos. I have watched them all.
I am unable to find the part number for the bobbins to fit my Sashiko 2. If it is in the manual, I have yet to find it. Can you help me?
class 15 bobbins
Edie, does the Sashiko have any other feet, a free motion foot in particular?
Also what is the role of the thin metal disc that sits in the bobbin case? I bent mine when I jammed the machine. It was causing grief so I just took it out. The machine works fine without it.
Thanks, Janet
Hi Janet! Great questions. There are no other feet for the Sashiko and it is not equipped to free motion. There are several accessories that are compatible with the Sashiko. If you go here www.babylock.com/accessories/ and select Sashiko in the product drop-down menu, you'll see the available Sashiko accessories/attachments. I will ask someone about the metal disc and get back to you!
Hello again! I asked our Baby Lock Product Support team and that metal disk is called a backlash disk. The purpose of it is to stop the bobbin from advancing when the machine stops. She said that you'd probably run into potential issues if you were running your machine at higher speeds. At higher speeds, when you stop the machine, the momentum may keep the bobbin moving (just slightly, but enough to potentially cause a jam). So, if you aren't running at high speeds, you may find success without it. Thanks for asking! Happy sewing!
Thanks Evie, I think a free motion quilting foot is a job for the clever engineer who invented the Sashiko!
Have a great day, Janet
Id like to order a Sashiko machine online cause its hard for me to get out... Can you help me please!
I am so sorry for the inconvenience. This machine can only purchase through our authorized Baby Lock Retailers. www.babylock.com/where-to-buy/
Yeah... the cost is outrageous... I was quoted $4000 from a local dealer.
The information is fine, but please refrain from addressing adults as if you are teaching a three year old to tie her shoes. That bunny rabbit bit is offensive.
Hi Carol. I'm sorry you were disappointed in Evy's presentation on threading the Sashiko. I assure you that there was no intention whatsoever to be offensive in her teaching. Everyone learns differently and many people learn really well with visual/verbal imagery/cues, which is how Evy was trying to show the Sashiko threading to help the student not only learn it, but, remember it.
Baby Lock Sewing Machines I understand, but this example strikes the wrong tone. I’m sure there was no intention to be condescending. Thank you for listening to what I hope is constructive feedback.
Thank you, Carol for your good-teaching methods - your rabbit analogy helps me to remember how to properly fit bobbin into the case.
Me too
