My thoughts on the Unihertz Jelly 2. Another device that you have to know what you are getting but if you do, there is a lot to appreciate here. Looking for a disconnect phone? Something that doesn't take up too much room or a secondary device? This could be the one for you. Sometimes less is more!

I have this phone (along with my old Windows phone, Razer 2, and Galaxy S21, go figure, Steve, we must be the same kind of weirdo 😄) and the only thing that really keeps me from dailying it is the camera. Audio esp is EXTREMELY good with quality Bluetooth headset or USB-C 1/8” headphone adapter with DAC. It's the only phone I have that transparently uses the DAC at full resolution.
Anyway, If anyone wants to weigh in on using gcam with this phone, I'm all ears. I have not been successful at finding a workable build, but maybe that's changed in recent months?
Thanks all!
I have the gcam on it and the photos are terrific.
There is a Facebook group which has a link to the working gcam. You have to message unihertz and they send you a software patch to make the gcam work.
That's great to know! Would help a lot!
Great idea for sure!
@@bbarling1That's great news.🙂 Can you share info on which version of gcam you are using? I don't have an active Facebook account and would rather not reactivate an old zombie account for if possible. Thanks for any help you can provide!
I have this phone and it is the best thing in the whole universe. I've been using it as my primary phone for a year now and it is PERFECTION.
It's pretty cool for the size!
this video and THIS comment is the flipper for me, thx guys :D
Is this phone support Google maps for navigation?? Thanks a lot
@@leonidaskouris2914 Yes, works fine
How is the battery? How long does it last
Make sure to read the comments below. Apparently, Gcam can work on it and really help the camera!
Recently picked up the Jelly Star and I'm really impressed with it. I listen to a lot of music and audiobooks. If I want to watch content, I flip on the mobile hotspot and use my iPad to watch videos. I even use the Jelly Star to run a couple apps I need for my business and it gets the job done. Compact, easy to bury in a pocket and nearly forget about it.
FInally someone who makes compact phones again
I'm still completely happy with my Blackberry Passport and would continue to use it forever but for one thing: Artificial forced obsolescence. The apps I use increasingly insist on updates that then won't install. "Your OS is too old..." There are ways around it but this entirely unnecessary issue is getting pretty annoying.
Anyway, if I'm being FORCED to give up my BB Passport for NO GOOD REASON a functional tiny phone like this will do, although I'd like a better camera.
Mine was delivered yesterday, looking forward to playing with it this week
Have fun with it!!
How is it ??
@@may-rw5jj It has been great, I put my tablet (data only) sim in it and my wife uses it for music and podcasts while walking the dogs.
@@mickeygolf234 how awesome! good for you. this is the main device ive been looking at to switch over to for my main phone. used solely for navigation, communication, and music! all i could need and it’ll be nice to be more simplicity for my tech usage
@@may-rw5jj I might order the Atom next and play with that, as it has a bit bigger screen
Can I listen to FM radio via Bluetooth by plugging a cable into the transmitter jack? In my MP3 equipped with FM radio it works. I was wondering if it also worked in the Unihertz JELLY 2. Thank you.
I'm waiting for this phone to be delivered today. I bought it because it's kind of a meme phone. I have enormous hands so I'm looking forward to my colleagues laughing at the ridiculous ratio. But also a completely functional Android phone. Can't wait! *refresh* awwww *refresh* awwww
So how is it?
still using it?
Is the best phone Just to to use is at leassons
is this going to work in Canada ? (Bell Canada).
The problem I found with several Mediatek-based phones was appalling GPS performance. Slow acquisition, prone to GPS signal loss and Google Maps hanging. How's the Jelly 2 for navigation?
It worked with me just fine. I remember having more issues with my pixel 6a WiFi and gps was more of an issue.
Love your review! Let me ask you? Is this phone about to work with a prepaid AT&T ? Kinda of silly question. Please advise!
I don't think so! They haven't played nicely with ATT so far. Prepaid might be more flexible but I don't think so.
Yes !
6 ram memory?
Anyone know if there is a current discount code for this phone?
is the code btw not an actual url
This machine is the best !
3.5” would be pertect. Like the old xperia neo. Nice to hold
Hear yall
You didn't mention the facial recognition which works flawlessly. 👍🏻
It does, amazing that it even has it!
Yep !
Can you use this phone as a primary cell phone?
Yes !
I have one and love it but texting srill a challenge do you know if voice typing is possible 🙏 thanks for the video.
Done thanks
You got it working?
@@StevealiciousTech yea in 4 different languages, awesome, and for now seems really accurate. Just want the gcam upgrade (if you can help ?) and trim a bit g assistant and It will be fine, I was very close to send mine back because of texting. Thanks again.
Have you tried using swipe input? Makes it a lot easier to type
It's the best!
Can I use this as my primary phone? And will it work with tracfone minutes?
You could but I don't know about the TracFone minutes. You would have to check with them.
@@StevealiciousTech Yeah, I'm not going to purchase it.
Yes!
@@irfansufi6421 Bullshit! It won't work with tracfone. It looks like you don't know........
Will this work in London england if I bought and imported it please?
I would always check with your carrier but should be ok.
This phone will work anywhere on this planet and off this planet I guarantee you that !
I miss mine. I dropped it and the screen was broken. Maybe will get the new light version with Android 12 or will try LineageOs on the regular version because dont expect regular updates after purchase.
I think they are cool for sure and they have been a touch better with updates!
LineageOS is not available for Unihertz phones.
@@folksurvival I use YAAP OS for months now, based on Android 13. I used Reddit to get all information to get started. It was scarry to root my brand new phone, but don't regret it.
You didn't drop this phone and broke the screen that's not I can guarantee you that !
Does android auto WIRELESS work on this?
Yes !
Great for an MP3 Player for running.
Absolutely!
cheaper 2.5 incher from china do that too. but yes this 200 dollar phone will be a nice mp3 player
Does this phone have a spot to place a lanyard?
not the phone itself, but the included case does.
@@evilrainbow Thanks!
could be a device solely dedicated to authenticator apps (microsoft, adobe, authy, etc), and other stuff that is fine with this size.
Lots of useful things for a phone this size for sure. That's a good one!
How's the wifi connectivity?
Mine has been ok.
This phone Sansa strong Wi-Fi
I just made a video of this device yesterday, attempting to play call of duty loll
Is the best !
Does it work on ATT?
No, you know how much fun ATT can be with devices that are a little outside the norm...
This phone can play !
@@StevealiciousTechNot true, this phone please ! It's the best!
@@irfansufi6421 I like it but it doesn’t work on AT&T, they ban it
Don't forget Cricket Wireless, they are part of AT&T.
Does these work on Verizon?
If you put in a Verizon sim that's already activated, I do believe it works.
the recommendation is to remove an activated SIM registered to a working Verizon phone from that phone while it is still on, and then insert to the Jelly 2 when setting up the Jelly 2
This phone can play!
Yes, it does work on Verizon, even on the MVNOs. BUT, your have to activate the SIM card on any Verizon compatible phone first. Then, once the SIM card is activated, transfer it to the Unihertz device.
I have a Unihertz Atom XL, running on Visible by Verizon. The bad part about Visible is that not many phones, even the Verizon compatible phones, are compatible with the provider. Thankfully, I have a phone that is Visible compatible and activated the SIM card using that phone. After that, I transferred the SIM card to the Atom XL phone, and it works very well.
T-Mobile, no problem. Verizon, okay, but got to go through hurdles to get it to work on that network. AT&T, no way, and that includes Cricket.
it's cool but i think i would prefer 4 inch display like they have on unihertz atom L. 🙂
That would be neat!
I think a brand called cubot do 4" phones
If I hear "the whole heck of a lot" one more time
Feel it could be a solid 'after work' phone. Just chat with a few friends, listen music, that's it, no more other shit
Definitely.
epic 🎉 test of time
I aunt this phone some much
This phone is the best!
I have small fingers
Swipe to type
I might get my Nokia out again which has less features just test and talk and then buy a new tablet haha
This machine is the best!
