This performance was the most watched in CMAs history…that’s why they was so mad😂 She came in and taught them how to execute a flawless performance. And now, she’s almost single-handedly pointing the world back to Country’s roots in the Black American Music tradition. And her performing with The Chicks (who were blackballed by their own community for calling out Bush on the senselessness of the Iraq war) was a political statement. A True Queen!! They can stay mad bcuz Cowboy Carter is a MASTERPIECE and will be forever etched into America’s iconic, revolutionary musical canon🙌🏽🎶

Don’t get me wrong, B is incredible, but the Chicks don’t need anyone to show them how to execute a performance. I’ve heard them sing this live and they’re spectacular, I’ve listened to live recordings of just Beyonce, amazing. I don’t think anyone realized that this song was meant to be a quartet.

This is the bad experience Beyoncé talked about having that made her create Cowboy Carter out Friday 3.29.. this was CMA highest rated 15 minutes in the history of the show and they had it posted all over their social media but they choose to remove every trace of her because of racist comments flooding their inboxes. Then after removing the performance they got backlash for caving into the racist comments

The run that you're talking about at 9:25 is my favorite, I love how she connected the placement of the end if the note on "you" to the adlib that she'd been doing through the entire song, she finished the note on a downward run and then ran it upward into the adlib in one fluid take, it's brilliant vocal placement, it's sooooo good!

For people who don't understand why this performance was such a big deal was not only because it was with Beyoncé at the CMA's, but because the Dixie Chicks were canceled before cancel culture became a thing.
