Sarah F had her engines slow ahead to take the strain off her anchor - a prudent measure in those fresh conditions. I bet they had fun un-tangling their anchors!
These things happen because Lack of situational awareness , not keeping engine in standby mode, not checking the type of seabed and history of dragging for that area,
While at anchor the ship engine must be ready at all times for any emergency & the bridge must be manned by a responsible officer. The Master should have order book instruction for the OOw to follow & comply
How this dude declared must have happened because of chief officer as it was his watch? Dude chief officer can't drag an anchor it's totally just because of rough weather. These ratings don't consider any fault of themselves they think they're part of the ship's crew until some collision happens.
Nice footage! Is it possible for me to use and share this footage on my youtube page? I share footage from all kind of activities on our ocean. Cargo ships in the 1960s till now, oil rigs, fishing vessels, etc. Of course full credit will be given to the owner of the footage. Looking forward to your reply. Kind regards. Cheers.!!!
Had the hit ship slacked away some more chain and bow thrust to starbourd it could have helped avoid it instead of doing nothing other than watch and film the inevitable. As you see on the hit ship nobody giving orders or trying to help avoid the situation, they should not be alowed to go to sea. Where are the officers?
Lots is talking in Hindustani, then we hear "What the f***, man." Anyway, they should have set watch circles on their radar to spot the dragging in time for them to get the engine on line. Protect you ship and your license.
Poor seamanship. They must've avoid collision in ample time. If they dragged their anchor, they should've immediately turn their engines on to maneuver and not just to wait for a "luck" to come in.
Immediately turn on engine?.. its take an hour in case of normal starting.. and Even takes around 20 minutes, in case of short notices. Its ship engine not motor bike engine
So, you mean, they're just gonna watch and let it happen? That's absurd. I am also a seafarer, and I know that its a must to do whatever you can to avoid damage to life, ship and environment. No excuses to make if they themselves didn't perform due diligence to avoid this. Also, as answer to your 20 mins, do you think their radar/ARPA don't have any features to portray movements of the sorrounding vessels? As the watchkeeping officer they should've been vigilant of the arising situations, in other terms be proactive.
@@19rave19 i never meant to say they should watch it insanely and let be happen! Master and mate was definately there and they might take evasive actions too. Even the whole crowd as you see gathered on poop deck to amuse themselves and passing sick remarks. It is definately a mystery , why they hadnt utilize engines in ample time as you said. May be some Engine failures like starting air failures, generator break down etc as i am not engineer.. because it keeps on drifting and finally allided.

May be, people from this field would be able to comment better. would there be quite a running around or loud instructions given to avoid / warn of such accidents ? meaning, any outsider, will he be able to make out if some action is happening in the background just by looking at the scene or every action happens silently in the background ? I cannot comment if this could have been avoided and collision was inevitable and that, respective people were working in the background to avoid it. Also, I dont know if it was duty of the people who filmed this to avoid / warn such collisions but one thing for sure, filming such tragedies is common in India than helping.
Anchor Dragging Bro...so no use of paying out more Chains...and more over it will be more Dangerous if we payout more chanis at anchor long stay and Dragging.
More dangerous than smashing up these ships? I would think that more chain out would increase anchor ability. Maybe the chains could get tangled up, but it might have prevented the collision long enough for tugs to get there on engines to be started.
Peter Karig ...at that situation Paying out more shackles will not giv any Effect bcoz shackle will not reach the ground at roughly weather due to long stay and more over there is only 1 shackle left onboard bcoz master already prepared his vessel to face rough weather at Anchorage...and at this situation Only thing we hav to do is to heave up the anchor or to leave the Anchor overboard (the Blue vessel has done in this video). And here the blue vessels was Dragging...Not my ship
The ratings could have informed the OOW about that ship.Instead they were arguing and taking videos. Deck ratings belong to crew so they should take action
@manyonat i believe they should have informed the bridge. They saw that the other vessel was dragging it's anchor. I don't know why neither crew of the vessels didn't understand the collision. Nevertheless a proper approach would have prevented that from happening. That's why companies should train everyone about watches at Anchorages.Still the OOWs of both ships seemed to lack awareness about the weather conditions and the nearby vessels. The master's could have been busy at their offices, so I don't know why they didn't feel the collision
How is it dragging the anchor when the rope is sticking out in front of the ship? The other ship (the one filming) appears to be upwind and moving... change my mind!
Both of ship has engine trauble? Or both of ship crews brain trauble like brain death?! I believe most of indian action is talk more do less..much kari.

Idiot captain when they knew Sarah got dragged should have lifted the anchor slightly and started engine and stern the engine... But emergency preparation was lacking here of captain.
what was your ship OOW and Capt doing Why they let the situation reach this point. 1.Were the environmental factors and vessels swinging circle in addition to other factors considered in deciding the Anchoring location and safe clearance from other vessels . 2.Was there a proper bridge anchor watch maintained and proper lookout kept. If the above 2 were followed then one cannot blame less time ...even if Sarah F was dragging and not taking action your vessel should have acted in time !!!
