Portland feels like a much more pleasant, calm city compared to most American cities (though I've only been to NYC and Pittsburgh, so don't have a lot to compare) - great video tour! That book shop looked insane, could have easily spent days getting lost in there.

It definitely was a good day and isn’t always this calm… this city definitely has its problems!! 😂 thank you though! It was a nice walk!!

We haven't made it to Portland yet (or anywhere in the state of Oregon for that matter). It was cool to kind of get a feel for parts of the downtown area as you walked. I could spend many hours in Powell's Books. That might end up being my favorite thing in Portland when we finally get out there. Thanks for sharing this walking tour with us!

Born and raised here the Charles Berg used to be a super popular shopping place with restaurants and stores. Went there all the time as a teenager and older. The best place to get clothes and great restaurants

It looks like downtown Portland to me. It's not a suburb. Been here since 1984. This is indeed downtown Portland. You should take your negative bias elsewhere. Maybe Salem?

@@bhuvanordhruv Well, my eldest nephew was there in Jan/Feb and he said he felt as if he'd visited the worlds largest open air drug market, cops basically ineffectual and/or numb to it. He said it was sad b/c it used to be one of our cleanest cities and a lot of peoples favorite US city and this video could've been shot in the early 2000's.
I've never been there, but I've been to Seattle several times and LOVED it - it would break my heart today from what we see/read/hear.

I'm not from there, but I've seen in the news that Portland passed a law about a month ago outlawing sidewalk tent camping if there is shelter space available. The videos I've seen since from other youtubers seem like this has gone a long way already in a short time. Seeing as this video is only 2 weeks old, it's gotta be a pretty accurate representation.

Ah, keen eye. That was in fact the giant replica downtown Portland built on the same stage where they filmed the moon landing.

I live in Portland. Your video fails in so many ways. You fail to show the hundreds of homeless tents all over downtown. Buildings thst spray painted with gang symbols and piles of human excrement on the sidewalk

    • @SwiftyTravels

Sorry you are disappointed. I had heard how bad it had gotten and I was honestly surprised it was not as bad as I was expecting. There was no agenda, I was honestly just walking from our hotel to PSU then back to Powells, and that is what we saw. He did cross some homeless and a tent on the street at the end on Broadway and Burnside. I’m sure there are worse areas and of course areas by the freeway were rough but we were not walking there. Thanks for taking the time to check it out and comment.
