The knowledge this man has behind him is phenomenal 👏🏻
😳. Many thanks. 🙏
I had a similar marker when I started my apprenticeship 57 years ago. These had been in use long before I started. It's nice to see there still being used. The old methods are often still the best.
So simple, yet so effective. Great tip Dan. 👍
Thanks Barry.
Making one of these little baby’s first thing in the morning 😉❤️
Dan the man 👌🏼 . Another simple but genius idea 💡 🧱👍🏽
Cheers chaps. 🙏
@@Ultimate-roofing-square. 🤙🏾🧱👍🏽
very simple , bang to the point ,
great idea
Well done Dan!
Thanks 🙏🏼
That's brilliant. Totally making one of those tomorrow !
Nice Dan I lost my one quite a fews years ago even though I had written Dan on it😆😆😆 great video👍👍👍
😂🤣. 🙏
Very smart Dan, looks like it’s seen some action. 👏👏
Hi Mark, yes it’s a bit battered. 😝
Or use a combi-square eh?😉
Was thinking the same thing
Great video ,thanks
As a joiner myself in uk with 35 yrs exp I’ve not got a bad word to say about this guy. Straight to the point. Would take Robyn a good 30 mins to get to the money shot. 👍🏻
Thanks. 👊🏻
Totally agree with your comments about Dan, knows his stuff but not big headed with it.
Robin reminds me of an old carpenter I used to work with, 2 hours talking about how to do the job and 10 minutes to actually do it!
What an awesome little marking tool Dan🤩 Saves so much time👊
Hi Del,
Thanks! I see you made a arc gauge too.. Same same but different..
Thanks for watching it. 🤝
@@Ultimate-roofing-square. Great minds Dan🤓I really like that you can mark both 35mm and 45mm doors with your one mate. I bet you've got loads of other little site made gauges and gizmos💪 Cheers mate.
@@thetallcarpenter I’m working on the double tea cup next… 🙄.
🙏
@@Ultimate-roofing-square. 2 sugars or 4 ☕☕😆
@@thetallcarpenter 😆
Good tip there I've got a small jig for marking the architrave which I can still use if the doors are hung, but in your case that does stops to.👏👏
Thanks Kevin.
combination square and a good eye for parallel facing margin, easy
For gods sake u only need a tape measure I’ve seen it all now loved this guy on roofs but this is just overkill rearly
@@kendodd8734 why do you need a tape measure ?
@@alequee ur not seriously asking me this r u ur on a wind up yeh
@@kendodd8734 you said all you need is a tape measure, I have done door facings for year and don’t bothered with tape measure
@@alequee ur doing just fine then
Excellent Dan 👌 No smart arse comments from me today! I'll be making one of those for sure 👍😁
🙏
I’ve always done it by eye but that’s a good tip.
Thanks for a simple but excellent tip, Dan! I hope we’ll be seeing much more of your work in SB videos. (That’s a not so subtle hint to Roger…😀)
Hi Steven
We plan to have Dan back and have been filming a big project with him so there is more to come from the Man Who Can
Thanks Steve.
Well done 😍🧚🏼
Is the fire check where the door stop aligns? Nice vids..Thank you from across the pond..
Nice one Dan 👍I use a similar gauge myself. Keep up the roofing vids, I've been a carpenter for 41 years and I still enjoy watching other chippies like yourself and the tall carpenter your both top notch 👍👍👍👍
@Chippy123 many thanks 🙏. TC is definitely top notch. 41 years in the game, few changes over the years. 😳
@@Ultimate-roofing-square. Many changes mate, the standard of tools these days is amaizing. Your roofing square for example. My next roof job will include the purchase of one of your squares. Brilliant bit of kit !!! 👍👍👍
@@chippy1238 I started with a belly brace, hand drill and yankee.. 😂.
Much appreciated. 📐. 👊🏻
Nifty !
Love it
Nice one
Good tip Dan, you so remind me of Norman Wisdom 👍😁
😂👍🏻
Mr Grimsdale!!!!
Good one Dan you be a millionaire soon with all these tools 👍💵
@shane 🙈. 🙏
Saw the thumbnail and thought why is Lee Evans doing DIY
He’s my twin brother.. 😫
Legend
Is this going to be available on Amazon ?
Nice tip Dan!! What’s the measurement for your archs. With the ball bearing hinges they have to be wider??
Hi Paul, thanks. It’s about 9 mm and it clears the bigger knuckles on ball bearing hinges.
In the UK 10 mm is the norm
Will we ever see Dan And Robin do a job together? I’d love nothing more
I really like this little jig. Where can I buy it?
Is it available in all leading timber merchants?
p.s. I don't have any doorways, doors or door frames. I don't intend to fit any 2nd fix door architraves.
He certainly has a good prototype.
I hope so because I'll be buying one too. I'm also going to ask if they sell the Stanley knives that sharpen pencils and most merchants only sell the standard ones
I always use a 6mm glazing packer and a combo square for marking the jambs 😄
Comrade Roger.
I am waiting for the *tsunami* of comments accusing this video of being a sponsored product placement video!!!!
Robin is good but Dan is the nuts
It is good to have Dan on the Skill Builder team.
Thanks Steve 🙏🏼.
We all have our ways of presenting/ showing how we do the particular job.
@@Ultimate-roofing-square. I've learnt so much from the skill builder team and can't praise the channel enough. All top lads and keep up the good work 👍
What is the thickness guage measurement please.
Hi Michael, it’s around 9-10 mm. It used to be the thickness of a wooden folding rule which was 3/8 of a inch.
@@Ultimate-roofing-square. Thank you for the reply. Much appreciated.
@@RailsandSky no problem. Thanks for watching the videos. 🙏
all ways use the shoulder on my siding square
I feel a bit short-changed. Where’s the other 51 seconds?
Play it twice, then you will be in credit.
U gotta couple nails there 😂😂😂
Air Source Heat Pumps.
Sorry, I posted that comment in the wrong video!
🤣. 👋🏻
@@Ultimate-roofing-square. Hey mate! Quality video.
@@stakkerhmnd good evening, thanks. It’s the way the boys film and edit it. 👊🏻
I don't bother marking architrave margins, you just need to develop an eye for it. I always set stop lats at either 46 mm for fc doors or 37 for standard to give a paint rattle gap.
Are you saying you fit your stops before the door is swinging ?
@@SingleTrack66 yes always. A single pin top and bottom then if the linings twisted you can easily knock it over to pin up fully when the door swings.
Never done that. Always swing it latch it fit stops after with a perfect paint margin
@@SingleTrack66 we dont fit latches in 2nd fix just drill and chop out for them and the keep. Keeps have adjuster tabs so never a problem.
why is it that you britts make fixed doorframes to the construction and not just buy a finished mountable frame?
It will come, we are very late in changing to that technology.
... and he owns a kapex 👍
He owns two
I have the 60 and there isn't a better compact chopsaw . The micro adjustments you can make are clinical and the trenching set up is top drawer !
@@Theforestcarpenter the 60 is a great saw, especially for 2 nd fixing.
👊🏻
I made one of these 50 years ago
yes we saw the video and copied it. Where do you want us to send the money to?
@@SkillBuilder all donations actually accepted
Back when you were in your 30s?
@@jaydaawg.8191 I was in my teens mate it was something I made to speed things up and it did
Its common on sites. Most pin 2 offcuts of arch together offset by 6-8mm for marking the margins. Never thought to include door stop spacings aswell tho 👍
Where is Roger? I'm not happy discussing my flaps with strangers!
Every heard of a combination square!!! 🙄
No, tell us what that is? We are always keen to learn about new ideas
Brilliant gadget bud, I love it but you should have put a patent on it because more than likely some greedy clown will take this idea and make a little tool followed by lots of money.
It’s a great little jig but certainly not unique enough that you could put a patent on it.
Correct, as many don't know how to fix two pieces of wood together :)
@@gavincollins9376 😂
Thanks Tiny Tony.
@@Ultimate-roofing-square. Dan - What tool pouch do you have there?
eBay !!! 😁
Is that a tip top top tip 🤪😝😂😜

Was going so well until he put the off cut on the floor
He has a labourer to sweep up.
Why don’t you make them like your roofing square???? I’d buy one Iv got the square
😳. 👍🏻.
