@@EmjrRockz tenkaichi 3 had like 6. It had the story mode (with more missions and eras than sparking zero) it had a survival mode, a dragon sim mode which was pretty unique, a 100 mission mode, and you can unlock two more modes if you had tenkaichi 1 and 2. I dont know what these modes were unfortunately. Fast forward 17 years later, and we have one lackluster story mode. It also had more item customization, more maps overall (some classics like the space and kamis temple arent even in the game) and a muuuch better character selection screen. Not this placeholder that sparking zero has. It also had, at least i think so, more characters overall jf you dont count all the super saiyan transformations (sparking has 19 gokus...) like tao bai bai, cyborg tao, demon king picollo, chichi, arale, nuova shenron, the devilman and more. And all that in a game from 2007. If sparking zero is truly the "budokai tenkaichi 4" we have been waiting for for 17 years, than it needs to surpass its predecessor. And it doesnt. It has just two things going for it at the moment. It looks (mostly) pretty, and has super characters. Thats just not enough, and again, it has technical problems that i have never seen in any dragonball game ever
They definitely made this mode just to make a way for people to grind the roster of characters. If people really want to experience a full fledged story mode, that's why they made Kakarot.
Yeah but i want the length and depth of story of kakarot (cutscenes and such) and the gameplay of sparking (only fighting no open world bs and forced rpg mechanics)

@@youngmahalo9406 it’s not an excuse? They knew what they were doing when they made the “half baked” shit. But call it what you want, their goal was to clearly not tell the stories well and give people a grinding material in this game. I thought that was loud and clear
@@itsmejack9 its not even grinding material you dont get anything after completing maybe 2 stories, you already unlocked everything by then in the shop. making a story mode worse because theyre lazy just like with splitscreen being ass. this is quite literaly less content than the previous game. almost all people play this game for the story and some play online its clear with how the games playerbase always drops off very fast
Hot take: I don't think this game need a very fleshed out story mode. I would've like more fleshed out 'what-ifs' instead of slideshows, but if people want a story re-telling of Dragon Ball, they should play through Kakarot. It does a great version of re-telling and if this game attempted a similar thing, it would've been directly compared to that. I think keeping their resources focused on the rest of the game was a smart decision. Given that there's only so much time and budget to make the game, I think the way it is now is fine. (again, except for the slideshows in the what-ifs. I would've rather had fully animated 'what-ifs' instead of animated canon story, if I had the choice.) Above all, I think they should've made the mode more consistent in how they handled slideshows, animated cutscenes, and voiced slideshows. It just feels like they randomly chose between the two. And why didn't Vegeta's story go into Super??? So odd.
I agree but I am also very happy the game is only 30gb and not a modern 50-100gb or more. A fully fleshed out story would bump that WAAYYYY up, but I'd be happy with a larger size if it meant things like Vegeta in Super was included...
The worst thing about sparking zero is without a doubt the Episodes....The gameplay is a 10/10 Every moment of playing is sheer magic, but the fucking "Story mode" I can't begin to discuss my frustration. Virtually Every wrong decision was made. Who In the world thought that was a good format. Tediously going through stages, like a board game, with vague, cryptic, and bullshit conditions you have to discover from reading up about them, and wasting time watching pointless tutorials and walkthroughs, only to discover that in order to progress, you have to do something Insanley specific, in a game where the AI is constantly button reading you, is just exhausting. Of all ways to do a what if story, this is simply the worst format. The cutscenes are embarrassing and awkward and the requirements to move forward is ridiculous.
did you not just look at the battle details to see how to get the what if, lmfao i think you just didnt use ur brain and thought you had to google everything. i didnt watch a single tutorial or walkthrough, though everything else you said was spot on

Personally I like the episode battle, despite the difficulty at times. They don't show you unnecessary scenes, they just give you the bare basics of the story. I do NOT want to play through the ENTIRE fucking story of DBZ AND DBS for the 100th time, including every fight, every scene- Besides, if you really, REALLY want a Dragon Ball game to tell you the story you can literally just play DBZ: Kakarot.
I don't want to be that guy, but there hasn't been a single DragonBall game that tells all of Super from start to finish, and the ones that kinda tell it, tell it in zero detail, so this game should've just been the Story of Super with playable characters from all of DragonBall. I can understand not wanting to play through DBZ for the 100th time, but even then, if they are going to include it I'd rather it be done half decent. The "go play Kakarot" argument is in no way valid.
Honestly as someone who has played the original story countless times in the games, I kind of appreciate how the they did the story mode in this game. They even took some extra time for some super scenes that we aren’t used to playing over and over. Episode mode really gives me hardcore Budokai 3 vibes, with a simple trade off of map free roam for extra what if scenarios
removing gt and movie fights is a big L and voiceless slideshows mixed with actual cutscenes is terrible, super fun game to play with a dissapointing story

I’m sorry!! I just fcking love the concept of taking two dudes on my team and making them one dude. I literally have to include a fusion in all my line ups. I can’t help myself 😅
I remember an interview with Jun Furutani (producer of the game) where he said don’t go into this game expecting a fully fledged story with detailed cutscenes because it isn’t the focus, and that you should play Kakarot for that. He said this on multiple occasions actually, wish I knew where exactly. He set expectations for *that* crowd. Lo and behold you got a bunch of whiny dorks coming into this expecting another 1:1 representation of Z, going over all the same story beats with beautiful cutscenes and the same tired dialogue. I’m sorry but those of you who purchased a BUDOKAI TENKAICHI game expecting Kakarot 2 or something of the sort only have yourselves to blame and should’ve done more research. This game was never marketed for its main story (besides the what-ifs and branching paths which are new) and since day 1 it was all about the PVP and Custom Battle mode where you can create your own what-if stories, and yet it still included a Z/Super story with multiple character perspectives to try and please everyone as sort of an “all in one” type game, but still mostly focusing on the online component because at the end of the day, it’s a Budokai Tenkaichi game and battling with friends with an obscenely large pool of characters is what it’s famous for. These are the facts.
Calling people dorks for wanting somthing that is at least close to what the old games were like is just dumb af. Them making the game a sparking game implied the story would be as fleshed out as the old games. Instead it feels very choppy rushed. 99% of people who wanted to play this game because its a sparkin game prob only played PvP offline with friends and mainly played against bot or story. So to say that multiplayer was the biggest focus of the advertisement is a lie and to just dismiss people because thats not the part of the game you like is also dumb af.
Regardless of all that it's still half baked. It's fine that they didn't want to go into depth with the story, but that's not really an excuse for the presentation, and it being a slideshow. A greatest hits compilation with What-If's would've been perfect if they presented it better, and had way more actual cutscenees.
@@Sir_Slimbread you ever watched DBZ? Besides the fighting, the show damn near IS a slide show. What exactly is there to animate when people are standing around talking? (as is 75% of DBZ story). DBZ Kakarot went pretty much 1-1 with the anime and is a whopping 35-40 hours man. Did you really expect that from this game?
@FirEBeast That's just not even remotely true. Even if it was, even the cutscenes where people are fighting, it's still a Slide Show half the time(if not more). Also, not a single soul expected a Kakarot lengthed Story, but even as a greatest hits, this game fails at delivering that.
I can see why people don't like this mode but as someone who's not ever watched dragon ball before I have enjoyed going through the story. Yes it doesn't explain it well I have a lot of holes in the lore because of how it's done bur I've enjoyed it and it has not made me want to get into it further

yes, trunks has the Z Sword. in his timeline it never broke and after Gohan died he held onto it and learned to use it. the divine sword is basically just a spirit bomb slice
Whatever you say Jev, its valid. But for someone who is sick of repeating the same cutscenes over and over, this is perfect for me. I already know the story, if its not a new one this is a good way
You ain’t bored of the same story don’t act like you won’t play the next hundred dragon ball games that are just gonna keep showing the same arcs from z and super
I’m honestly surprised there’s no Broly movie for the Goku path, nothing past Buu for Vegeta, and no Saiyan saga for Gohan. Maybe Goku and Vegeta’s paths will update in the future, but Saiyan saga for Gohan had some what if opportunities.
I feel like people having a problem with the campaign for the game stems from Kakarot and because there's a bunch of new players and new gen Dragon ball fans who never experienced the raging blast games before. Kakarot is a entire open world and single player story focused Dragon ball game that lived up to it's purpose and was pretty recent via there wasn't as huge of a time gap between Dragon ball game releases so there wasn't as much of a incentive to make another fully fledged story mode on the level of or surpassing that of Kakarot. The Raging blast games always had a story mode like this centered on alternate choices and hard challenges instead of story. But overall Sparking Zero carries in everything else so no biggie
I really don't think it has anything to do with Kakarot. No one was really expecting Kakarot levels of story(especially when you factor in the roster, it being mostly focused on battling players, and What-Ifs), but they definitely wanted more. Even a game like Xenoverse 1 gets the gist of the DragonBall Story across more and it had significantly less characters, and it forced What-If scenarios. If they would've fully went down the What-If Route it would've worked out way better(even with the slideshows).
Definitely enjoying the DBZ: SZ content, FaZe Jev! Did you make any PC settings adjustments and/or changes or do you feel the game is good “right out of the box?” If able, could you please do a PC settings video for this game 🙏🏼? Nonetheless, keep the enjoyable content coming!
not having the cinematics probably saved the game another 65GB if I had to guess. Cod literally removed the previews for executions and it significantly reduced the file size.
They need to focus on story for a game like this it isn’t going to outlast any mk or even street fighter the concept is great but an outstanding story would elevate it so much
Personally I don’t want to have to play another long story so that the newbies to the series can understand. I for one was glad I didn't have to sit through the entire dragon ball story for hours and hours like I did in both xenoverse games and the old budakai's as well, the fact you can play as other character perspectives and change certain timelines to see different outcomes and forms is I think a new creative way to tell a story and I don't think it deserves hate.
It’s definitely the lack of customization to 90% of the roster
Honestly with the amount of content if fine with the slideshows, I'm here for the fights and what ifs. I dont need or want a 5 hour cutscene between each fight of the 13 different stories I want the focus to be the fights and if there is a cool cutscene, thats goated
At this rate we're gonna having to see a run in fights and campaign without any Sparking. Seems to make it wayyyyy more diificult

the worst thing... oof where to start....
the camera, the bad story mode, lack of any real cutscenes, the assist (that can be used in ranked play...what a joke) the combat itself (often times, input get randomly dropped) the T-Posing characters in the menus, the fact that you can fall through the ground, the lack of game modes... and i could go on
Bro wants a battle pass too
Ok 99% of what you said is correct. I'm just curious as towards more modes you would ask for? I can't imagine fighting games with different modes other than the standard pvp. Again just curiosity no hate your mostly right lol

Okay I made one. It's called "the pride troopers warriors" with Chiaotzu, Yajirobe, and Hercule. Tags are insanely difficult and extreme battle
They definitely made this mode just to make a way for people to grind the roster of characters. If people really want to experience a full fledged story mode, that's why they made Kakarot.
that’s my mindset going into it. makes it a lot more enjoyable knowing it’s also practice for when i go online
Yeah but i want the length and depth of story of kakarot (cutscenes and such) and the gameplay of sparking (only fighting no open world bs and forced rpg mechanics)
stop using the kakarot excuse they cut gt and the movie fights from this game and you can unlock almost all teh characters just from gokus story so theres no reason to play others after 2 storylines with trash slideshows but super cool pov cutscenes i dont get why they half baked this shit

Lmfao what was funny was you started not really vibing with it, then half hour later we are all still here watching you playout trunks timeline 😅😅 it was pretty good to me
Personally I like the episode battle, despite the difficulty at times.
This is such a braindead take

They don't show you necessary scenes either though... The fights are where they should be, but the context is very lacking if you're not a fan

@@morbidzombii they made the story objectively worse than tenkaichi 3 by having fights be single character only besides a few fights where you have a team. i never once swapped out because they never made me feel like i had to thus making them being in the fight with me useless, unlike in 3 where after a certain point in the fight it would swap you out like it did in the show, and we didnt get gt or movie fights for some reason, again thats probably because they for some reason wanted to go with so many what ifs. for how little content this game has, there is no reason to not have fully voiced slideshows or cutscenes, im down for slideshows but only if voiced.

@@cleansentYou have zero reading comprehension. Everything they explained already debunks your comment lmao

@FirEBeast That's just not even remotely true.
Even if it was, even the cutscenes where people are fighting, it's still a Slide Show half the time(if not more).
Also, not a single soul expected a Kakarot lengthed Story, but even as a greatest hits, this game fails at delivering that.
The biggest problem is that it’s glitched on Xbox and you CANT FIND A SINGLE MATCH ONLIEN AND NO ONE IS COVERING IT

I was thinking maybe because it's the same story so they wanted to cut it short this time.
This story mode is way better than rb2s.
yes, trunks has the Z Sword. in his timeline it never broke and after Gohan died he held onto it and learned to use it. the divine sword is basically just a spirit bomb slice
Still wouldn’t it be better if they had put a bit more production value into the story and just let you skip the cutscenes if you want?
I’m honestly surprised there’s no Broly movie for the Goku path, nothing past Buu for Vegeta, and no Saiyan saga for Gohan. Maybe Goku and Vegeta’s paths will update in the future, but Saiyan saga for Gohan had some what if opportunities.
The rest I can excuse but no Super arc for Vegeta made NO SENSE! They let every other guy do it but him.

I think the story modes are a good thing because they will get you playtime with different characters and go through each character pretty quick
They need to focus on story for a game like this it isn’t going to outlast any mk or even street fighter the concept is great but an outstanding story would elevate it so much
I can't lie, the "what if" had me hooked! I needed to see how it ended, and it didn't disappoint with the MVP Android 17
If you beat the episode with the canon route you can just replay it and it will show the requirements for the alt route
Personally I don’t want to have to play another long story so that the newbies to the series can understand.
