Khosi: You can go to an Educational Psychologist to get assessed. Some schools have one that they work with regularly.

I relate so much with this episode, I had this problem, but I was not diagnosed, I think I have Dyslexia, what made my it difficult for me was the teachers, they used to say my child as long as we can see what you are trying to say, we will give you marks, so I developed a system of memorizing the first three (3) letters the rest I would like bad, only to find that latter in life that I cannot see words in my mind, I developed a photographic memory, I studied Internal Auditing, but I had to leave the profession because, I was a great Auditor the challenge was that I could put my Audit finings in an Audit Report, then studied Project Management, then my Masters in Business Administration. To this day, I am scared of responding to group WhatsApp, I thought it was my grammar kanti it was my Dyslexia. If I have to do a presentation at work, I have to ask my PA, to check it several times, because I can't see if there is a spelling error. I cant type while the projector is on, because people will expect you to correct something so I just avoid that.

Your story is very interesting, thanks for sharing. If I may ask, who diagnosed you and declared that you are dyslexic? I'm trying to find out which profession is meant to diagnose..

You just explained my life, I was never diagnosed but I knew. I'm a structural engineer by profession that has side hustles of anything that requires me to be artistic. I'm a MUA, I do event decors, I do interior designing, I'm a architect, I paint (wall art), I'm a fashion designer sometimes. I'm now thinking of adding photographer to the list. Yes I wish i could spell & read easy as a grown up and its a big insecurity but I would never trade what my brain can do for what it cant.

I wish there was more hype around Dyscalculia. People with dyscalculia are shamed for being bad at maths.

I think I’m also dyslexic, I struggle with reading subjects, writing essays and reporting.
But good with economics, accounting and that what my career is in.
I find the things that are more practical more interesting than reading and writing.
And now i have a son who is neurodiverse, I he enjoys maths, sports etc.
This is a good conversation, thank you to you guest for enlightening me. This were I need to focus on especially for my son.

Thnks for having Khosi and wish people in the education department can watch this video and Justice Mokheli's so that teachers in schools can be well trained to identify kids with this problem because teachers are not doing well in identifying this kids and its really sad❤❤

This subjects are very true and touching
When you go back to your childwood journey you see some of our classmates that we were making fun of what they were suffering from but we didn't know both teachers and us as children more Special our African culture
That's why I would like to venture on teaching more specifically catering for those kida in our Black community
    Its deep man😢 and painful

Your right Ursula we were taught that reading and writing is the only way and stem subjects determine or measures how smart you are and how you will amount to something great. So if you not a stem subjects person and dyslexic then it becomes very sad.

The first time I got to know TCC podcast was a short of Justice's interview on Tiktok. I came on YT to listen the whole episode and was taken by that guy's confidence and work regardless of being dyslexic and I have been here consistently since. I'm not shocked that Khosi has gotten this far, somehow if you understand yourself, you can do everything you put your mind to.

I loved this episode, very informative. I appreciate how she explained her journey and highlighted that some teachers struggle to handle children properly by labeling them as smart or not. Everyone is different, and I wish schools could recognize this and not expect all children to be the same.

Thank you so much for this episode, I’m a young mom to a 12 year old and I try my best to not push her too hard when it comes to academics & sports, she’s a chubby girl so definitely not the best at sports, I do find that she gets a lot of pressure from school to perform and be outstanding & that frustrates her. She will always say mom I’m doing my best, I’m not lazy, but it’s just not enough for my teachers. It hurts me because I know how hard she works, she’s an average student gets B’s & C’s and I’m happy with her results because I know she will thrive elsewhere but I find that the teachers are not equipped accordingly. They will always have negative feedback

This was lovely to see and some light shed on this topic, i also know not much is known of dyscalculia which is a learning disorder that affects a person’s ability to understand number-based information and math, hopefully some awerness will go a long way to help more people out and knowledge of it.

Hello I have a son who struggles with reading and writing, so the speech therapist said I must take him to remedial school but in his school they referred him to special school. I didn't take him to special school because of what speech therapist said, so I looked for remedial schools and they all private schools and can't afford to pay. Please advise me to help my son.
