This is the best message I had to hear, we get to work and don’t speak in meetings and complain about the people that speak the most, very bad habit, instead of complaining start learning his to speak in meetings because the people who speak more gets more recognised.
I was actually praying this morning that God i need to able to communicate effectively,i am required to speak on a daily basis and i just feel dumb ,i get so nervous i lose my train of thought. this is really great thank you
Same here. It's worse cause in my head when I recite, I am perfect. But come the time to stand on a podium, it's all blank. As a result, my confidence has been greatly affected😞
I'm so glad this reached you when you needed it most! Feeling nervous and losing your train of thought is common, but with practice and a few strategies, you can overcome this. Remember, every speaker starts somewhere, and it's okay to take small steps. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and keep pushing forward. You've got this

I really enjoyed you all till the end of this vedio, whatever you three talked about it's really true . It gives me good positive vibes .😇Thanks to God that i found this
Aaah, this is a very interesting conversation. I remember that before 2020, I was in corporate, and I struggled so much because I was just not confident. I was so frustrated at the time I even started therapy, and the therapist coached me into public speaking. At the time, I wanted to enter academia as a lecturer, but I couldn't speak. I took public speaking courses during COVID-19. It was the best thing I have ever done for myself. I am now in academia, growing so much, and all of this happened in less than 3 years. I am that girl now in meetings. 😜
@@nalediramontja mostly I read textbooks on public speaking the. There are online platforms like Alison but try LinkedIn learning. It has free courses. I even started a YT channel to learning to how to project my voice.
Writing down what questions you will ask your doctor is perfect. My friend told me that years ago and I don't enter the doctor's office without my notes. And they love it! I'm known by my doctors for my smile and my notes. 😃
I just realized that I need to upskill my son while he's still young. He gets tongue tied a lot and people are impatient with him but he's so smart. I have always been confident and therefore never struggle with standing out so much so that I used to get annoyed with myself for it because why am I always given extra (non paying) responsibilities at work. I will leverage on it going forward. Thank you for this
Such an important conversation. Had a terrible experience during my internship because I just was not asserting myself at all! In meetings I’d just keep quiet and only raise concerns/questions to the person afterwards. I became invisible and overlooked. My work was brilliant but I couldn’t sell it and I suffered the consequences. I’m thankful that I am at the beginning of my career and have the grace of time to attend to the issue and work on it now before I suffer the consequences.
Speaking and being able to speak well is an important skill. From being able to present yourself to a stranger to a potential partner or presenting yourself in a professional environment.
I'm a Venda lady and it's natural for me to always use English because not a lot of people know Tshivenda. I've been ridiculed and hated a LOT for speaking English and speaking up at work and at school. Whether we like it or not, English is the medium of communication in any professional setting. If you don't k now the language, don't hate those who do, they can teach you if you ask nicely :)
I'm a Ndebele woman currently working in the Vhembhe region and the mense here do not compromise that much when it comes to speaking tshiVenda. I've had to learn quickly 😂
Thank you so much for the conversation! I grew up being such a shy and timid person. Never did I imagine myself in spaces where I needed to show the bravery of an activist and voice out my opinions. My career as an intern gave me the platform to interact more with people; and instantly my personality changed completely once I started. I love conversation and hosting topics of interest. I don't mind sharing what's on my mind regardless of how stupid it may be to the next person. I believe the more you interact; the easier communication becomes. I am simply a confident introvert, all attributed to challenging myself to speak out.
I’ve recently come to the space of speaking more in church and I want to grow further in my delivery and confidence, all these tips were so helpful .Thank you😊
Oh my goodness! This is quite an intriguing topic. I used to have stage fright and guess what? My first job involved a lot of speaking to large groups....worst 3 months of my career and also the best teacher😅
I applied the tips today in my monthly finance review meeting! It worked. It works!!! Especially the part about focusing on service, not "Am I sounding right". I also forced myself to speak up more, it was terrifying but I did it!! Thank you so much. From Zimbabwe
I haven’t finished the video yet, but this one thing really stood out. I’m focused on do I look okay? Do I sound okay? While the audience is focused on “What is in this for me? What information applies to me? Wow. That’s super helpful.
I'm so glad to hear you found the podcast helpful! It's completely normal to feel fear around public speaking, even when it's a regular part of your job. The key is to acknowledge that fear and work through it with practice, preparation, and strategies for managing nerves. Keep pushing your comfort zone a little at a time, and remember, each speaking opportunity is a step towards becoming more confident and impactful. If there's anything specific you'd like advice on, please feel free to ask. Keep going. You've got this!
One thing I love about your guest is that she doesn’t come across as an extrovert. This debunks the notion that only extroverts excel at public speaking. Actually extroverts are less believable to me because they sound as though they’re delivering a pitch that they give to everyone that comes their way. A soft spoken person is more believable and relatable.
I don't know how I found this channel but I'm glad I did. The information is so helpful for me as a beginner Content Creator. Time to get from behind the screen and into the public and speak. 🗣
I did public speaking in high school and I took some public speaking classes back in varsity but now in the work place I get so nervous to speak especially as a junior at work and I am a really good speaker. Ladies, this is so in season. I recently had a really close loved one pass and was asked to speak at her funeral. I was terrified. I can't even explain how terrified I was. Really, it wasn't the speaking itself that terrified me, I was nervous about people knowing that I am nervous. My voice also starts shaking and my hands tremble when I'm nervous so my fears were that people would see that and know I'm scared. And I didn't know what to do to make it stop. If I knew how to do that, I think public speaking would scare me less. Anyways, I didn't do the speech because the mics weren't working and I was worried that I wouldn't be heard. It felt very childish to be so afraid to do something that it stops you from doing something that matters more. I left feeling like I need to sort this out, ngeke. Otherwise I'll be limited in my ability to show up for my loved ones.
I'm sorry for your loss and the difficult time you faced. It's perfectly natural to feel overwhelmed in such moments. Your desire to improve your speaking skills is commendable and shows great care for your loved ones. Remember, it's a journey of small steps, and I'm here to support you. You've got this!
Great topic, I'm also interested to know why sometimes as Black Africans( not everyone)we struggle with articulation and expressing ourselves, I've seen this alot in cooperate and personally I still struggle with this alot.

This is really awesome. I have struggled a lot with public speaking. At the same time,I have been applauded for sharing critical ideas. I am really motivated to learn public speaking. I know it will impact my life positively.
I needed to hear this, thank you so much. Living in South Africa as a teacher, I would conduct workshops for teachers by teachers. God has been telling me to do one at the school I’m currently at in Angola because of the exact words you have highlighted in the conversation, I felt perhaps I won’t be able to conduct it as good because now I’m at international school and all these other excuses I was making in my head. Watching this is giving me courage. Thank you for allowing God to use you to speak to me.
As a speaking coach I loved this conversation! I really also respect Vanessa’s work, and I love the show nje as a whole ❤️! Excellent value ladies, thank you, viewers are in for a treat!
Am Esther from Lagos Nigeria, and i attended an interview with a Chinese company here in and i was interviewed by two Chinese representatives and at the end i wasn't offered the job, but i came out confidently knowing that i gave it my all, and that probability they thought the salary might not be ok for me because i already worked for 2 years in Dubai UAE and is actually in my resume 😂😂😂😂😂 Even though i later removed my Dubai work experience so people won't be intimidated by it and actually give me the work because i really need it.😅 Thanks for that topic ❤
After watching this, i relise why speaking is important. When we start a relationship with a person, we always use a language and speak. thank you so much
Thank you for asking her for more practical tips. And also sharing that you used to shake. Seeing this confident version of you is very inspiring Ursula
I'm confident when I talk but sometimes English data bundles run out and I start mumbling 😂😂😂😂😂geez I hate those moment. This is when I wish I had A+ education and public speaking platform at an early age
😂😂😂I CAN RELATE!!! I am very comfortable with speaking to few or many. But yoooohhh the data bundles conspire against me too😂😂 what I have started doing is to say what’s on my mind in vernacular, I just speak and then translate it. It has helped me. I am confident doing it, not ashamed at all.
I really loved this episode. As a passionate public speaker, I do believe that voicing it out professionally gets you to another level. However, this works out in companies where there is a solid culture for its Human capital. Sometimes confidently articulating some issues or suggestions in some companies can land differently to a company that doesn't have a culture of growth. However this was enjoyable
I came to learn this the hard way. Yes, your work will speak for you to a point but after that, you must speak out. Your presence must be felt. The most mediocre motor mouths move up the ladder because they have a way with words. They speak even when they really don’t have to. In the end, they get noticed and are usually in line for that promotion.
What an insightful conversation! 🎙 Vanessa's journey from accountant to public speaking coach showcases the transformative power of effective communication in both career growth and personal development.
First time ever coming across this channel, I was drawn by the title. I absolutely enjoyed the episode. what I learnt is that , it ok to allow yourself to be a beginner, learning any skill is a marathon, not a sprint.
Good Communication is the best skill an individual can possess. Most leaders are not really good at the job. They are just good in communicating and relating with people
Vanessa has herself a new client. I surely need the coaching. So much so, I beg everyone to not ask me to speak in public. I am a good storyteller /narattor however, my voice be shaking like i am in Alaska wearing a bikini. I will ugly cry if you make me stand infront of an audience. The fact that i have to speak and everyone must listeb to me??? I'd run.
Hello new client!! I would love to work with you to manage those nerves! From your comment, I can tell that you are an engaging storyteller! We want to hear more from you!
Thank you ladies for this interview. It makes me realize that fear resides in all of us but what matters is how we condemn it. Meaning ways to refrain from it. ❤❤❤

I think that that's a wonderful secret passion to have😁! Loving public speaking and admiring those who do it confidently is the first step. It's okay to feel afraid; most speakers start there. Embrace your fear as a sign of something that truly matters to you. Small, consistent steps outside your comfort zone can lead to great progress. Keep nurturing your love for speaking, and you'll find your confidence growing with each experience
Brilliant advice from a brilliant mind. The first time I met Vanessa as ABSA, she was speaking in public and that is how I was introduced to her brilliance. Never would I have thought that public speaking was a challenge.
I stumbled across this channel. And how thankful I am I did. All of what was said I can relate too. Thank you for all the advice, tips and encouragement.
This is so amazing! I’m listening from Indianapolis, IN USA. I love love love this episode. I too enjoy teaching these skills to my students and children. I’ll be sure to share to is episode with the students I work with
I admire the spontaneous way that used in this episode among you😊 And how u defined confidence by related it by trust… “ start small, think big” we need to hear that; I cannot thank u enough for these meaningful conversations ❤
Oh my word this is so vital and profound as I always roll my eyes when people used to say the obvious and they end up being taken seriously which made me to always question everyones intellectuality 😰😥so needed to hear this thank you I highly appreciate .
Thank you ladies. I admit i have been suffering from lack of confidence when it comes to public speaking and any time iam given a chance in a function i always judge myself afterwards and look more into the messes rrather than the rights. This is so helpful, iam going to implement most of your shares especially that one of forgiving myself first. I will consider a coach probably. And you are all so beautiful
This video has open my mind up, especially the parent training - in a household where elders opinion are more loud compared to yours you can fill small in your own world which effects your development but this really give me an advice to forgive my current and previous self in communication. Knowing that I am normal and not the only one going through this yet working on my articulation - the more practice the more competent and the more confident I become.
Thank you so much for this very important conversation. I’m currently working on my confidence for public speaking- mostly the mental battle and this has given me so much hope that I’ll get there. Keeping my word to myself 💪🏽😊 Thank you ladies
Ursula and the team at Conversation Capital, this is nothing short of excellent. I love public speaking and I read and learn a lot about it as much as I can. I study the great orators throughout history. This is as good a resource on public speaking as it gets, it just doesn’t get any better than this. It’s world class level content and I’m so proud of you all. I feel proud you be South African. Keep doing great work. We love it, we need it and we appreciate it. ❤🙏🏾
As a former radio journalist i definitely enjoyed the episode i learnt so much of things one take for granted for example its easy to interview someone but when you are the one being interviewed its a nightmare. Thank you im a fan already

For every action there is always a reaction that Public Speaking...start /act on it .I am public speaker trained from early ages from of high school, by the use of platform like debate and public speaking group...representing my school
This was such an amazing interview! The interviewer asked such great questions and the interviewee spoke and answered with so much confidence. I've even decided to take up public speaking coaching!!! I'm so glad I came across this page... please more content like this!!!
"opportunity meets preparedness" - well said Ursula!
❤ In my point of view, public speaking is not only transfering knowledge but also transfering energy to audients. Am I right? ❤
I agree with you 100%
I'm a Financial Analyst, I am completely aligned with everything the guest is saying... I'm having the exact experience.... I mean exact!!! Thanks for this conversation.
Vanessa is such an eloquent speaker.. And this was a beautiful sit down ladies♡♡.. Truly enjoyed and I'm just going to take a chance on me( I mean whats the worse that could happen😅)
Take that chance! You deserve to experience the "you" on the other side of this chance!
Great conversation and an eye opener for me,I really need to get ahead in life so public speaking is a must have tool..I hear you.I love the way you are in sync no one is interrupting the other....plus the host is soo beautiful..the smile is heavenly..cheeeiii 😊😊
This is really awesome. I have struggled a lot with public speaking. At the same time,I have been applauded for sharing critical ideas. I am really motivated to learn public speaking. I know it will impact my life positively.
I can vouch for the transformative impact it will have on your life! I would love to walk the journey with you!
I love this! Absolutely go for it!
Viewing from Nigeria 🇳🇬....
This video came timely for me, Thank you so much 🙇🏽♀️🙇🏽♀️. I really took note of a lot of things
Thank you for watching! I am glad that it was insightful for you!
As a speaking coach I loved this conversation! I really also respect Vanessa’s work, and I love the show nje as a whole ❤️! Excellent value ladies, thank you, viewers are in for a treat!
Thank you! And thank you for the important work that you do!
I love this headline! I instantly clicked into it and liked because i know I am in for a treat!
Service minded and deep Breath I love both of them thankyou Alot
Am Esther from Lagos Nigeria, and i attended an interview with a Chinese company here in and i was interviewed by two Chinese representatives and at the end i wasn't offered the job, but i came out confidently knowing that i gave it my all, and that probability they thought the salary might not be ok for me because i already worked for 2 years in Dubai UAE and is actually in my resume 😂😂😂😂😂
Even though i later removed my Dubai work experience so people won't be intimidated by it and actually give me the work because i really need it.😅
Thanks for that topic ❤
After watching this, i relise why speaking is important. When we start a relationship with a person, we always use a language and speak. thank you so much
Indeed! It is such an important skill
I think you overthink it.. just speak I swear some people are not interested on how you speak the English but what are you saying.
I will most definitely try that, maybe I'm in my head too much lol, thanks guys
Mi too
Me too yoh my English is the problem but I believe I’m a very smart woman
I don’t watch female podcasts. But I just learned something a lot and subscribed ✊🏽
You and I both! 🤞🏽 less than half way into this, I subscribed to the channel!
Loved that definition of confidence in reference to trust and keeping our commitments to ourselves 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Love this hairstyle on you Ursula!!!
Well done ladies.
I need a one on one coach/ training on public speaking.
The fact. Fully agree
What an insightful conversation! 🎙 Vanessa's journey from accountant to public speaking coach showcases the transformative power of effective communication in both career growth and personal development.
Tips for public speaking
1. Be prepared
2.Have a service mind
3.Have a Deep Breath
4. Project your voice
5. Slow down when speaking
First time ever coming across this channel, I was drawn by the title. I absolutely enjoyed the episode. what I learnt is that , it ok to allow yourself to be a beginner, learning any skill is a marathon, not a sprint.
I am glad that found both enjoyment and value in this conversation
I have learnt also that reading aloud is a form of building self confidence...that's what I'm doing presently.
Brilliant pocast👌🏾! Clear, informative, relevant and shared with such simplicity. Thank you🙏🏽🙌🏾
Thank you!
I love it here. You all speak and present yourselves gracefully. Kudos
Thank you for watching!
Thank you ladies for this interview. It makes me realize that fear resides in all of us but what matters is how we condemn it. Meaning ways to refrain from it. ❤❤❤
You can definitely manage the nerves
Wooow! I just stumbled upon this channel! Did i like it here, awww absolutely!!.I'm camping here, this topic made me camp and I've fallen in love with your channel and with you madam! O montle Sisi❤ ijoo well articulated, your voice!God bless ❤🙏🏾
I'm literally in love with Ursula😭
This is such a lovely interaction and you ladies articulated the importance of finding your voice beautifully.
I secretly love public speaking, I love people who speak with confidence. However, I’m afraid of speaking
probably makes the two of us
Me too
Me too🥺
I think that that's a wonderful secret passion to have😁!
Me & i have m a whole UA-cam channel 😂😂❤
Brilliant advice from a brilliant mind. The first time I met Vanessa as ABSA, she was speaking in public and that is how I was introduced to her brilliance. Never would I have thought that public speaking was a challenge.
Thank you so much!
Thanks so much ladies, this was thoroughly informative☺🤩🤩🤩
I stumbled across this channel. And how thankful I am I did. All of what was said I can relate too. Thank you for all the advice, tips and encouragement.
I am so glad that you found it relatable!
@vanessa_bukasa I need to learn public speaking. Kindly give more details on how I can do this.
This is so amazing! I’m listening from Indianapolis, IN USA. I love love love this episode. I too enjoy teaching these skills to my students and children. I’ll be sure to share to is episode with the students I work with
I admire the spontaneous way that used in this episode among you😊
And how u defined confidence by related it by trust… “ start small, think big” we need to hear that; I cannot thank u enough for these meaningful conversations ❤
I love this so much, especially how you're all listening and speaking fluently.
I neeeed to be coached by Vanessa ASAP!! 💯. What a lovely show! Great interview
I look forward to working with you!
Where can I find Vanessa?
@@vanessa_bukasa❤
Oh my word this is so vital and profound as I always roll my eyes when people used to say the obvious and they end up being taken seriously which made me to always question everyones intellectuality 😰😥so needed to hear this thank you I highly appreciate .
😂😂😂😂 yeah neh
Do not despise the days of a little beginning. You are doing great
I really love your energy and the way you articulate your thoughts
Informative and intentional talk for personal development. Great one indeed. Thanks
you have mentored me a lot , especial in confidence building, and you have answered my doubt
Wonderful conversation
The service mind set tip is GOLD ⭐️
I agree!!
Thank you very much for this very enlightening and insightful conversation. 'Visibility is on you' - so deep.
