- We put 7 guitar tuners to the test to find the best guitar tuner on the market today.
A tuner is one of the most essential things that a guitarist can have in their gig bag, but we will admit, it's hard to get too excited about them!
So in this video, Sam and Meg take a look at 7 of our favourite tuners, and try to make them a little bit sexier and interesting...
It's tuner pedals vs clip-on tuners in a battle over best tuners for guitar and bass. We've picked a mixture of pedal based tuners (ideal for electric/electro-acoustic instruments) and clip-on models (perfect for acoustic instruments), explaining the differences and pointing out the pros and cons of each one, to help you find the best tuner for your needs...

" .. thanks for tuning in"

Another fun & useful video… Sam & Meg are always “must see”… Keep ‘em coming!
Hi! Always liked Sam and Meg: fun and very helpful videos. Thanks. Keep going!
great video. luv the "live scenario" clips. absolutely hilarious, AND very true to the real thing. LOL
Great review.... Very fun video! =) Cheers.
Hilarious video. The 'shootout' ending had me in tears! Brilliant.
Thx. Went and bought a D'Addario tuner.
can't go wrong with the BOSS TU2 or TU3. The KORG PC-1 is my go to Clip On Tuner. I'm looking at the KORG Pitchblack Pro too.
Question. For electric guitars, is it better to tune from the headstock, through a pedal, or even setting a tuner next to your amp so it can hear what is actually being heard from the output?
Guilty as charged on that opening statement for the TU3, it has first in my chain from day one
Well put together video - informative and entertaining in what could have otherwise been a yawn... though I do think it needs a follow-up with a few of the popular tuners that didn't make this shoot-out. Also, the two presenters kinda worked together - give 'em their own show, PMT; it may have legs! If Chappers and the Captain can make the big time...
Fantastic Video. Very interesting for the beginers than me. (Sorry about my english)
0:42 really hit my g spot
The g spot is a myth. Just like the female orgasm
@@guitarofdestiny it's not a myth just because you've never seen one...

Bands such as the Foo Fighters and Slash tour with Boss TU-3 pedals, that’s good enough for me! Use to have a TU-2, worked great but sold it and got a mini poly tuner which served me for years but started making odd buzz sounds? and got fussy with tuning at times? Nice display! but now I’m with the Boss Waza Tu-3, solid as a tank! nice to have a power out to neatly add another pedal next to it! I like the blue LED, nice to have buffer on/off option, it’s quick
Peterson Strobe tuners come in both clip-on and pedal (as well as rack-mount but that's typically out of most player's price point from ~$450 used to ~$2000+ new), and the Petersons use true strobe tuning, and display true strobe tuning (as true as one can get on a digital, non-mechanical display), which is where pretty much any and all chromatic tuners fall short. No matter how many fractions of a cent a chromatic tuner is accurate to, if said tuner is unable to display the level of detail needed to see that accuracy, it doesn't matter. If you truly want accuracy, Peterson is the way to go, at the very least for playing shows. Have all band members use the same strobe tuner to tune up, and you'll be about as accurate as possible.
Have you seen the Sonic Research Strobo tuner? More accurate and faster than the Peterson. Used both for years now.
Just bought a Korg Sledgehammer. Thanks for the help.
Is it good?
@@077di6 It's really good! But be careful so you get the version with the AAA battery slot, not the coin style battery, if you want to get one. The one with the AAA battery really does last for a long time without needing to change batteries.
@@professoroak2252 Thanks
Informative and funny video, good job
i always thought tuner pedals were pitch correcting pedals, until i actually saw and found out its just a tune as a pedal. surprised i didn’t think of this earlier.
strange in the video a lower hertz range than given in the specs was demonstrated. would be nice to know whats real.
Please, can someone provide what person or group that created the song at intro; aka the "Sexy Music" (00:32). Would love to hear the whole song as it has a certain kind of funky coolness to it. Thank you in advance!
It's Que Popo Gigante by MC Boladinho.
Efan Hywel Thank you for the information.
Anyone know where Snarks are made or where the company is headquartered? Another great job by Sam. Thanks.
Made at your moms house.
haha what i like most was the background music selection
I got both clip-on and mini pedal Kliq tuners. Nice to have off switch on board but I trust headstock tuner more. No other signals to mess with sound. I use both all the time. Start evening with clip-on. Check tuning all night long with board tuner.
Are clip on tuners more accurate then? Even for electric guitars.
@@CHOPERUS23 I don't know about more accurate but I feel going through 12 pedals that something could mess with the signal. Then again other sounds could mess with headstock. Who knows every time every place. I tune then listen. Best thing I can say.
nice video thanks for sharing PMTVUK
I love how cheesy this is. Love you all PMT. Nottingham store has been very helpful
More than three brand of toner. I like .so great.built and made ...solids.good .products.
I can watch these two presenters all day. Both are very good indeed.
What an adorable tuner ;)
I own TWO BOSS TU-80 FOR YEARS/ THEY ARE ACURATE
No mention at all of screen visibility on a stage in sunshine. None of those reviewed can be seen in sunshine.
Me and my brother had to bust down the door of some dudes apartment last week in the Charlestown projects. He’s lucky he just got tuned up.
The clip-on Micro is better than the soundhole tuner. It calibrates as low as 410 Hz. Good for me; I tune to 430 Hz.
Given how many plectrums I've lost in the sound hole of various guitar there's no way I'm clipping a tiny tuner onto one...
29 years of tuning:
Peterson Stroborack - Awful display, died in less than a year, hated every minute of it, worst $400 ever spent
Peterson Stroboplus HD - Great, but online functions disabled the second the new line hit the market
Snark clip-on - Loaned to a friend, never saw it again.
Boss TU-12 from 1999 - Still going strong after 20 years of gigs, recording sessions and music school
Boss TU-2 -Was still working when I traded it in for a TU-3
Boss TU-3 - Still going strong
Mom's Casio keyboard - Still going strong
Line 6 POD - Recalibrates itself randomly by several cents without telling me, and has to be constantly checked
Rocktron Prophesy built-in tuner - God no
Digitech RP3/RP3 built in tuners - Not calibrated to anything I want to play
Love her hair, so cute :)
Her age is between 5 and 32 years old

Really enjoyed the sexy tuning music at the start. I had myself singing sexy tuning lyrics
Stay tuned 📺
Yes but how accurate are they ?
Exactly, that's the only thing that matters.
I just something that can tune my guitar to tunings other than standard...I must have missed that info...unless the all do that. But I swear I had one once that could only tune to standard.
There are chromatic and non-chromatic tuners out there. Chromatic tuner can tune your guitar to any tune. It basically just shows the note you are playing. Non-chromatic tuners can only tune your guitar into standard tuning and a couple more, usually
I had a super cheap tuner and it had a chromatic mode and a standard mode
Did you even watch the video????
I wonder if Sam is part of the crew?
Eric Idle?
The porn music is just hilarious 😂
My guess if the boss tuners.
No snark?
U read my mind. But I hear they break easy
they do.....Cheap rubbish
I prefer to use a metronome as my tuner.
Boss TU12!
Sexy design, Korg…?? I’ve never looked at my tuners and started to dribble and felt a Full on Robot Chubby going on..!!!
Never saw why the waza tuner is 50-60 dollars more than the normal TU-3. It’s the exact same thing. Only black. 🤦♂️
I own TWO BOSS TU-80 FOR YEARS/ THEY ARE ACURATE
I bought a Tu 3 was very disappointed, it's very unstable
0:14 Acting, everybody!
Tuner s .👍.good
boss tu3
BOSS TU-10! ❤️🖤🖤🤘🏻
Do you use it for electric guitar?
@@tonypowell250 No, man. Just bass guitars. 🤟👍
@@hugomendonca138 Thanks
$44 on ebay with free shipping
Yo Meg!!!
Missing peterson strobotuners..........
Actually, forget whatever comedy value the race has, even in a proper test condition it is fundamentally flawed because because the least accurate tuners will say the guitar is is pitch first even though it will be a lot further off concert pitch than the others
What happened to Dagan!?
Dagan is still very much a part of the channel. Stay tuned for more videos! -Lee
Korg is my guess
Try 432hz if possible
Guitar Chewners
Nice 80' porn backround music
Nice comparison! Is she like wanting to be 12 with the little girl hair style!? lol
You guys should have the long haired dude remake this video he’s way more interesting I didn’t last 30 seconds into this video with these 2
No Polytune, really?
Bit weird that the link to top 12 on their blog has polytune tuners in 1st and 7th place. Perhaps they only show the ones they have on hand or receive from sponsors in the video.
Or Peterson, or Sonic Research.
Crazy&cool video!!! =)
And so cute girl :))
I recently bought a SNARK clip on tuner only to read in its own instructions "Do Not Use On Any Gibson Guitar Or A Guitar With A Nitrocellulose Finish". Horified at the possible damage to my Gibson, I bought a BOSS TU-30 which has both an input jack and a microphone. I worry about possible damage that all clip on tuners can do to expensive guitars. In saying that, I used the SNARK on an old polly coated guitar and found the tuner was excellent, so easy to use and read. Just wish these manufacturers would do some research on their foam/rubber and how to make it safe for nitocellulose finished guitars.
i predict they will all be the same, right?
So much annunciation
Lol
She's hot!
You must be mega drunk my guy
indeed, but snobs just won't admit it
Not for me
She’s ugly as fuck

Eh.. the girl’s nice too I guess
Calm down
@@joerisch2300 thanks for bringing me back here, haven't seen her in a few years... wow she's still beautiful
You folks are funny. I assume it's on purpose(?) Meg needs to eat more Pizza.
That girl is so cute
i know its too much
DO NOT leave your day jobs
why just read the promo material? why make the girl “play dumb” in the intro? not a single needle tuner? rubbish
Stop saying "input jack".....signal goes out of it, to an input. That's called an "output"!!
who cares
Fashion faux-pas....tucking a t-shirt into jeans....with no belt.
too much cross scene effect. too much talking face. just speak and give us how-to scene.
clicked bec of cute girl, stayed for quality content
They are just reading from idiot boards.
OMG a girl in a pedal geek video?!! I believe that's one of the warning signs of the apacolypse (according to the prophecy).
Please tell me Meg is at least 26 and single! And if so: Meghan, my fair skinned beauty....will you marry me 💍? Meh, nevermind, Im 44, it'd still be weird.
Question. For electric guitars, is it better to tune from the headstock, through a pedal, or even setting a tuner next to your amp so it can hear what is actually being heard from the output?
