I grew up in San Diego, moved to NY for school, but ended up back in SD because I missed the weather, chill vibes, and just the people in general. There are so many different towns/areas here where you can find beach people, downtown people, desert people, etc and I’m sure you would really like it here 😊 plus there’s no shortage of charging stations!

I never had the benefit of taking a woodworking class, but as a self taught woodworker, I built a custom camper shell, a racing catamaran sailboat, a house full of custom furniture, 12 custom hollow body jazz guitars, along with several custom digital baby grand piano;s.
San Diego is such an awesome place to live. I lived there for 10 years and I would 100% recommend living there. It reminds me of LA a little, weather is great, people are great, smaller than LA but not too small, and is a LOT cleaner than LA. Try a month out down there!
Have you ever thought about living in a beach city like Manhattan Beach, Ca? 45 min drive to LA when traffic is light and you can drive to PS in about 2 hours. Just a thought…
LA's weather is great but all the other major issues that LA has now doesn't compensate for it anymore? It's easy to catch a train in NYC but the crime is so bad that people are getting pushed in front of trains? Maybe Shelby should look for a property in South Carolina where Sam is from? The state has some cool beach communities like Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head Island?
Ive lived in San Diego for years and I love it! You get a little of LA with all the amazing beaches, restaurants, shopping, etc but minus the traffic and rushed atmosphere. Its a lot more chill. The real estate market is booming as well with a lot of beach vacation rentals. I am a real estate agent in San Diego so if you ever think about looking or "testing the waters" I can help you out!
Def agree. Born in SD and have lived in other CA cities but SD is where my heart is! People here are honestly really different from LA and although you still have to drive to get around it’s way less traffic compared to LA
Absolutely...San Diego is the best. We live in Northern CA but have a place in SD and honestly we just love SD plus so many cute neighborhoods. Ocean Beach, Point Loma, North Park, Little Italy and on and on. People are super friendly...it must be the sun and only 2 hours from L.A. 😄😄

To LA I always say............ There's no place like home 🥰 I TOTALLY think you should get a home base in the OC area, but that's been my opinion for a while. Where do YOU feel at home?? Does LA bring that comfortablility? Do you feel like this is potentially where you could lie your head forever?? Or at least for a great majority of your life? If so, LA or maybe just SOCAL in general is home. Personally, I will always love my OC town. I can travel so often between so many cities just by car. I'm so close to airports. Maybe try it out sometime? I've been here almost 16 years HAHAH
I recently discovered my favorite part of LA and it’s not perfect because it can’t get really busy but it’s Studio City. I love how clustered so many places are near Ventura and Laurel Canyon Blvd. The idea of being able to walk to the grocery store or a coffee shop and yet be in LA just fills me. But if could actually choose the house it would be nearer to the Ralph’s on Ventura going towards where Ventura turns into Cahuenga Blvd West. There’s a neighborhood there filled with older homes that have been remodeled that I adore. My brother scored a one bedroom basically behind the LA Fitness and I recently dog/house sat for him. While there I did some Instart Cart batches to be able to make some extra cash and I just fell in love with the area. His part is much quieter during the day and night but because of the deliveries I got to really drive around with purpose and see that I could totally live there. Consider it cause I’m sure you go to that area often. I’ve lived in many places, including Park Slope, Brooklyn and it’s like the best of both worlds.

I would have loved to do woodworking with him but I was always so busy with school and extracurriculars. That's so cool that you are doing that!
I haven’t been to LA, but the traffic sounds terrible. I would love it if you’d come check out Richmond (RVA). It’s small, but it’s not sprawling, it takes 15 min to get anywhere, there is somewhat decent transit and we have great people! It’s growing and has a nice urban feel and fab restaurant scene. San Diego is amazing!! You should definitely spend some time down here to see if you like it! I moved here two years ago from LA & it is the best decision I could've made for myself. While yes it's still expensive like LA, I have found that the overall quality of life is SO much better in San Diego. I didn't know anyone here either when I moved & I've found that it's way easier to make friends here as long as you put yourself out there because people are generally more down to earth. Also I love that San Diego is still a big city but no where near as big is LA. The traffic really isn't that bad aside from normal rush hours & I find that the roads & highways are much easier to navigate here. I could go on all day about how much I prefer San Diego over LA, but seriously please come see for yourself! I never considered living here before I moved and now I cannot imagine myself living anywhere else.

YES YES YES about cheap tripods. I film my videos from above my work surface, and my good tripod broke. The one I got off Amazon to replace it was SO bad. Lol. Definitely learned my lesson on that one.
I've just left California (not by choice) and I miss it terribly. People can criticize the state all they want but it's beautiful, the weather is amazing and the lifestyle can be so good - so I don't blame you for thinking about returning. So much more to SoCal than LA so I'm sure you could find a better fit for you. OC and SD counties have loads to offer. You do seem to keep gravitating back to CA, so maybe that tells you something?

Seattle’s summers are nice but much less so now since fire season starts and lasts so long there. Bay Area is pretty awesome and weather is great. We have like a month or so of fire season.
Seattle summers are SHORT and can only be in the 70s for barely 3 months.. Last summer it was in 80s in Seattle for most of the summer.. but the year before it only in the 70s for most of the summer. Many times it dosen't even get to be above 70 degrees until July 1st.

come to San Diego! it’s a completely different vibe from LA and parking is a lot easier, if i were you i’d stay in downtown/little italy area for the first couple nights and move your way up to cardiff/encinitas/carlsbad area (only 25 min north depending on traffic) they are beach towns and check out the small town areas and explore :)

You should visit DC during peak season. The city always gives me a high of excitement when I visit. I recently did a solo trip for spring break, and it was such a relief to come back. (: Also, the amount of connections and friendship you can make out there is insane. Food for thought.
You should try Austin, or New Orleans. There's always festivals and events going on. Not to mention yummy southern food. The cost of living is much lower, as well.

She's been living in "modest" house in san mon for a number of years, bit over a million when she bought it I think, and I suspect she can afford significantly more now. Say 4-6mill with a basin view. No idea if the idea could work in practice... maybe she's bored, maybe she'd like a cool new house, her buddy Ro Pansino has a new fancy mansion, maybe she's jelly :) she also recently bought a Model S plaid, she has been tesla ignorant up until then. Ro lives in the foothills on the valley side, no view.

When you say living someone else, do you mean still living in California or another state? You should check out Colorado. It's beautiful out there.

Random thought, taking iJustine house hunting in the hills. She's been living in "modest" house in san mon for a number of years, bit over a million when she bought it I think, and I suspect she can afford significantly more now. Say 4-6mill with a basin view. No idea if the idea could work in practice... maybe she's bored, maybe she'd like a cool new house, her buddy Ro Pansino has a new fancy mansion, maybe she's jelly :) she also recently bought a Model S plaid, she has been tesla ignorant up until then. Ro lives in the foothills on the valley side, no view.
