I purchased two Neotec 3 helmets when they were first released for my wife and I. I also picked up a Cardo Packtalk Edge Duo for our communication which made this a tremendous purchase in price and quality. The helmet pricing though is inline with helmets made for NFL players with both being made to absorb high impact. My cheek pad continues to fall out of position regularly when removing the helmet due in my opinion to the wiring harness and the real lack of strong holding fixes to the helmet. I’m ready to hot melt glue the dam thing in. Other than that the helmet fits great around the circumference of my head and the excessive pressure early on to my cheeks has alleviated to a more comfortable fit. I don’t mind the switches on the helmet for opening the visor or air induction. Overall I’m happy with the purchase but would like to see a redo of the cheek pad retention mechanism in an updated version. The helmet is really good at noise reduction and in the wind no issues whatsoever. The Cardo is much easier to operate in my opinion than the installed Sena system made for this helmet.
Cue, appreciate the feedback, always been a Shoei fan but it will be a few before I pick up my next one. As far as the inability to drop off the helmet next to your home, I can only presume they have no set up / customer service to facilitate those that live in the area. That loud phone ring / loud cursing etc…..hilarious if it wasn’t so problematic. Thank you for making me better appreciate my Neotec II.
Ahhhhhh, I am relieved to see I am not the only one with the exact same issues. The tab holding the foam also fell off after 2 weeks and I also hate the release tab for the visor. One thing I also don’t like is the creaking of the shell every time I put it on. I wear glasses so I have to force the sides out a little in order to not knock my glasses off and it squeaks every time. Your review is spot on with the way I feel about this helmet. But it is so comfortable to wear for long periods that I forget those flaws. Awesome feedback.
I'm shocked at their customer service. I always thought their customer service was stellar. At the price we pay for these top shelf helmets, I expect topshelf service. I hope they step up and help you.
I fixed it myself. Hopefully, it holds up. I was expecting that they would send me a replacement helmet. I was shocked when they said I had to ship it and wait for them to decide if this is a warranty issue.
We have the Neotec II and the III and love them both. They are the safest feeling and quietest helmets we have ever owned (compared to about a dozen other helmets).
I’ve got a Neotec 2. I absolutely agree with you about the neck roll. It’s a massive pita. I bought a second helmet as I find it a bit heavy so I bought an AGV Sport Modular Carbon fibre. I expect it will have its own problems but weight won’t be one of them. The latch on the visor that the Neotec 3 now has is a result of the new 22-06 test in the EU which requires it.
Hey man, I bought the SRL3 today for my Shoei Neotec 3. I went online to find out about how to install it, etc. I loved your review, and I subbed and liked you straightaway. Thanks from Australia.
I found the Sena system was quite easy to install in my Neotech 3. Because the guy at the store installed it in about 10 minutes. He probaly would have had it done faster if we weren't watching and talking to him at the time. But I agree, the Sena app is mostly useless. Sena should be embarrassed by it. Love your review overall and I subscribed to your channel because of it. I look forward to seeing what else is on your channel.
I installed a CARDO and once I had the wires in place, I actually etched a channel in the 'styrofoam' so the cables lay completely flat within the helmet and they stay in place.
In theory, I will be looking for my next helmet next year. The NeoTec3 is on my wish list as I currently ride with a GT-Air 2... That said, thanks for the review. We can hope Shoei reaches out on your helmet to make life easier... Even if they didn't take care of it under warranty but just charged to reinstall the double sided tape, it sounds like you'd be happier. I have the Sena 30K on my helmet but because I do talk while riding (when riding with others), I've found it a bit to be desired with range...
Spot on review of this helmet, imho. Have 10k on mine as well. One add, Large was definitely too tight for me and I’m in the low/mid range on the XL I purchased. Fit perfect when new. Little surprised on how much the liner has ‘collapsed’. Feels more loose now than what I’d like. Getting a new smaller sized liner and a thicker center pad. Hopefully one or the other, or both, make a difference. 🤞 Overall, agree, great helmet.
On the Iphone you can go into focus settings and turn on the do not disturb while driving. I agree the sena rings way to loud so I just enable do not disturb.
Thank you for your review. I've used my Neotec 2 for several years, and it has been the most comfortable (although not necessarily the best looking). I think the Bell SRT is the best looking modular, but it gave me hot spots I couldn't eliminate... so I gave it away. That visor button looks like a useless pain in the butt! I ride with my visor up most of the time. I wonder if it could be bypassed? I do like that the N3 has a very slightly smaller profile though.
I bought the same helmet and have the same issues with mine, it is comfortable but not easy to open the vents, and my liner also won't stay in. Thanks for your evaluation.
Thanks for the review, sorry shoei you had a bad experience with a lid that’s so expensive and not properly manufactured.. Believe or not I’m still rocking my neotec 1. The neotec 2 is in my near future
I'm glad I got the Neo Tec 2 instead and I'm a cardo man love this com but I wish they had a auto transition face shield for it like sidici does its a gams changer
Que, as always, appreciate the honest feedback and reviews. I was considering the Neotec 3 but, have no real justification at this time for me to upgrade from my Schuberth c3 pro which i find really comfortable and much quieter than my last helmet. i do run with the "brick" on the side of my helmet which is currently the Harley branded Cardo. I was told that you will lose features (e.g. stereo sound, etc.) if you connect a non-Harley branded bluetooth unit to your Harley infotainment center. Have you noticed any features not working with your Shoei bluetooth unit when connected to your CVO RG?
Here's a reason to ditch the C3 Pro and go for Shoei Neotec 3....the safety ratings on Sharp UK. 5 stars for the Neotec 3 and 3 stars for the C3 Pro. The side impact ratings on the Schuberth are not flash.....

It is part of the reason that I purchased it. Other issues like the helmet liner and customer service are also germane to my experience. Each of us see things differently.

Couple more things suck too, cannot remove the bottom curtain at all, I sweat more in the face when wearing this helmet, dunno why?, controls in front absolutely suck, and venting is poor also, but I still like the helmet...........
The chin curtain? If that's what you're talking about you can. If you read the instructions it says something about removing the 2 pins on the plastic on the chin curtain and then it just comes off.
I did this last night, and there's two little dots along the plastic at the chin curtain. You carefully lift up on these whilst pulling the chin curtain out at that end, you need to lift it up high enough so the pin comes out of the hole and the curtain will come out and off. Repeat at the other end.
