I never thought Sam Elliott was limited to Westerns---he could have played any role he believed in. But I was happy to know there was an actor out there who was so darn good in Westerns. Now it's a hot genre again, and he's a hot commodity because he's such a true talent and has that voice and that 'stache and that extra something that makes you want to be his friend. He's what I call a good man.
Sam Elliott can be brilliant in any role he wants to play. He hasn't done only Westerns ("Mask" and "A Star Is Born" pop to mind, but there have been other movies). I think he is thought of as the consummate Western actor, though, which certainly isn't a bad thing. :)
I loved him in a Hallmark movie "November Christmas". I've watched it many times and cry every time I watch. He was great in a mini-series many years ago (can't remember the title) where he played an evil doctor, based on a true story. I believe that is where he met his wife, Katherine Ross. They have been married since 1984.
Sam Elliott is a one trick pony with zero range. I’m bored with his leathery cowboy schtick. Power of the Dog was an amazing film. Sam’s just jealous because he knows he’ll never be cast in anything that good. Ever.
Truly one of the greatest actors of all time and unquestionably the best mustache ever.

@@Ace1King1 Wow! I did not know that!
He did superhero movies too. He was General Thunderbolt Ross in 2003's Ang Lee's Hulk and he was Carter Slade in 2007's Ghost Rider
We need more westerns with Sam 100 more

I know his voice and moustache are legendary, but this men has great hair.
Easily the coolest actor in the world !
Sam Elliott rocks, always has
Sam Elliott went clean-shaven for his character in the TV series Justified, which was IMO completely and utterly UNJUSTIFIED.
Sam is high!
Sam Elliott mustache needs to be donated to science when he is gone so that they can study how men can grow such an awesome mustache
Don’t apologize, Sam. Don’t do it.
part is made for him , give that man the . . .
