I have for years wondered why weren't we allowed to customise or disable some of the view modes. What a shock it was to see at the end of the video how to do it. I was so happy. Unfortunately this is not possible in my cameras, XT3 and XH2.... Hopefully it comes with that famous October firmware.
This really hit the spot, Chris. I would never have suggested a video on this topic, but I really appreciated having an excuse to go through the settings with you. Nice and easy, and practical. Even though my x-t30 doesn't have the ability to deselect view modes - that menu item was missing - I now have another small enticement to upgrade.
The editing view modes has been a fantastic tip that you provided on one of your other videos. I’ve set my XT-50 up so that I can simply toggle between EVF only and LCD only as I don’t need any of the other modes.
It will be great if we can set the sensitivity of the eye sensor. Sometimes when i use the touchscreen for focus area the screen just turns off because of the eye sensor. Not a big deal but little bit frustrating
Thank you! I’ve been trying to figure out how to ‘turn off’ some of the view options for ages! Now I don’t have to toggle through all of them to switch between the 2 that I always use!
Thank you so much for this very informative video Chris! I love that I always learn something new here and that the things you teach us make it still more convenient to use my X-T4. Wishing you and your family a wonderful weekend and again, thank you so much for your support and effort!
A very useful video Chris!! I have messed with this from time to time changing things up when I get in that mood for change. And, these settings, for those of us still in NP-W126S land(I have an X-T3) can be useful to extend the battery life. I hadn't every tried out the timed image replay settings though. Think I'll give them a try and see if I like them. Might be easier than always hitting the garbage button after a shot! LOL! Thanks again and have a rockin' weekend!
I was exited to hear about the edit view mode option, because I need only two of them. So I turned on my X-H2 and … it was not possible 😢 I have a lot of ideas how to improve the software, this is now a new one!
Extremely helpful, thank you. I had no idea that the modes were editable. I just wish it were possible to have evf with eye sensor only but to get the camera menus to show up on the lcd. There doesn't seem to be any way to do this.
The viewmode that makes most sense to me is automatically switching between EVF and LCD based on the eye sensor, and actually I always leave it at that and forget about the viewmode switch! But sometimes it makes sense to switch to LCD only, when shooting on a tripod or at weird angles using the LCD, and sometimes something comes in front of the sensor turning the LCD off... Annoying, has an easy fix, but I just don't think about it! One thing I do sometimes do intentionally is EVF + eye sensor. That is when I'm shooting long timelapses / star trails. Then I want the LCD and EVF to be off to conserve battery, but I can sometimes bring my eye close to the EVF, it will turn on, and I can check on the progress of the timelapse.
Really good tip. Thankyou for that. Always very pedagogic explanations, and in a very entertaining manner. You are really a star personality. How about a little something about the screens different modes, performance, eco etc. I realized at some setting I had flickering on the screen when shooting video, but the recording was ok...
Is removing viewmode option with the Q button specific to X-T firmware? I can't seem to do it on X-H2s on latest firmware. The 'limit viewmode' option at the bottom right does not appear and pressing Q does nothing.
Thank you! Have you done any tests on which view mode preserves the most battery when out shooting? I've always wondered if the LCD display really consumes much more battery.
Thank you so much for this helpful information! I think I will try Sensor + LCD Image Display when using flash. I wish there was a mode on my X100 that was EVF Sensor + LCD when pulled out. I almost always use the EVF and would like the LCD it to be off in shooting unless I pull out the LCD.
One quirk I've noticed is that if you are wearing a florescent reflective vest it activates the eye sensor even if you don't have the camera near your eye.
I have been aching for an option like this on the XT3. At risk of minimizing someone's job, this HAS to be among the easiest firmware tweaks imaginable... Any idea if Fujifilm ever intends to port it to the XT3? All the same, thank you Chris!
I looked at my X-H2s camera - and I'll tell you what - when you press the Q button in the viewfinder mode, editing is not available! It's a sad! And I would really like such a feature!
Love my h1,xt3 & xt4 … all with hand exposure controls. I refuse going back to the PASM controls on new Fujis! Not knowing which new models use PASM, I guess I must stay with my older models? Unless somebody does a video explaining which models have the original and which now use PASM?
i have an X-T5, the bottom mode, eye sensor+lcd image display kinda works, take the picture, picture previews for 1.5 secs, lcd screen comes back on? I thought the lcd stayed off on this setting? Firmware is up to date.
You would think that EVF only with Eye Sensor is the most energy efficient and uses the least battery power, but I have read that the LCD actually uses less battery than the EVF, so LCD only or EVF with Eye Sensor (LCD used primarily to compose but off if using the EVF) uses less battery. Does anyone know if this is true?
i use (evf only + eye sensor) with my xt-3, it's a great battery saver and i really don't like to use lcd screen to compose, i honestly barely tolarate evf, i prefer ovf. also i really don't get the purpose of evf only mode, why would you want the evf on when your eye is not there to see it.
I have a weird issue with my XT-5 after the last update. When I take my eye off the evf, camera freezes. Evf display freezes and never comes back to LCD and image completely freezes. Only way I can get out of this state is by removing the battery. does anyone have the same issue. I got the same issue around 5 times, mostly when i was shooting in a dark locations with very less light.
Hmmm.. and what mode you want? I want *only* the LCD when at distance and *only* the EVF when bringing my eye to the viewfinder and this is what I get.
"view mode setting" is not available on XT-4, latest firmware 2.12. I'm talking about this: ua-cam.com/video/UpZ2-NkSnKs/v-deo.htmlsi=Ms-H1FgXGCB3hUeX&t=294
I do not know how a good viewfinder feels. I only have experience from my fujifilm xs20 and it is not it's biggest strength (actually I think its the weakest spot). So I am only on lcd mode. Even though I am more video oriented, I also take pictures and i feel fine only on lcd. I do not know how unusual this is, but I get the job done for my needs.
If you want to learn something useful about Fuji this is the channel. And it has been like this for years.
You are a life savior, it really pissed me iff to cycle 5 view modes when i only wanted 2. Thank you!
Great to see you getting back until this style of content, keep going, I think these videos are so useful to so many users.
I have for years wondered why weren't we allowed to customise or disable some of the view modes. What a shock it was to see at the end of the video how to do it. I was so happy. Unfortunately this is not possible in my cameras, XT3 and XH2.... Hopefully it comes with that famous October firmware.
I thought I understood the view modes well, but wow I was wrong! This chanel is a goldmine!
Appreciate what you do for all of your YT viewers, Chris! Best wishes to you & your family. Hope you enjoy the upcoming weekend.😊
That customising view mode tip is really helpful. Thanks
私は日本の富士フィルムファンです。富士フィルムのカメラが大好きですが、設定が複雑で困っていました。あなたのビデオはすごく勉強になります!

Great to have another Fujifilm video again, and thanks for getting up early!
Just when I thought I knew everything about this feature....Great as usual.
I Use Fujifilm cameras for almost 10 years now, and I just learned a couple of things I didnt knew about. Very cool Thanks :)
Thanks Chris really useful and succinct recap it’s easy to forget some of the intricacies if you don’t use features often 👍🏻
The editing view modes has been a fantastic tip that you provided on one of your other videos. I’ve set my XT-50 up so that I can simply toggle between EVF only and LCD only as I don’t need any of the other modes.
I’ve just dashed upstairs to look at my X-T3. I had never even noticed that button before! Thanks.
Wow. This is one of the things i thought of knowing all about but I don’t. Thanks for the video. Very informative.
The next day after you shoot this video my first fuji camera arrived. And I didn't even know about your channel.
A perfect timing I guess 😂
Brilliant tutorial . Thanks. Didn’t realise there were all these options.
Very helpful! My favorite thing was learning that the View Mode button can be reassigned :D
Thank you and have an awesome weekend!
Thanks for the video AND the wake-up call, Chris. :)
It will be great if we can set the sensitivity of the eye sensor. Sometimes when i use the touchscreen for focus area the screen just turns off because of the eye sensor. Not a big deal but little bit frustrating
Agree!
Thank you! I’ve been trying to figure out how to ‘turn off’ some of the view options for ages! Now I don’t have to toggle through all of them to switch between the 2 that I always use!
Wow. This was very helpful. I have the X-T5 and did not know about the Q button option to uncheck view modes. Thanks, Chris!
Thank you so much for this very informative video Chris! I love that I always learn something new here and that the things you teach us make it still more convenient to use my X-T4. Wishing you and your family a wonderful weekend and again, thank you so much for your support and effort!
This was super helpful and will address one of my greatest frustrations!

Extremely helpful. ❤ My Fuji is my backup and travel camera, so I often can't recall these options and tricky combinations.
I was exited to hear about the edit view mode option, because I need only two of them. So I turned on my X-H2 and … it was not possible 😢 I have a lot of ideas how to improve the software, this is now a new one!
Yoo are the internets GO TO for all things Fuji. And we love you for it.
Super helpful, thank you!
Thank you Chris
Oh shoot, didn't know about the Q button in the view mode menu! Thanks!
Thank you, you are great explaining FUJIFILM settings!
Thank you. I had managed to bugger up my view mode settings, and this video let me sort it.
Hi Chris, thanks for sharing another great, entertaining, informativ and fun video.
Extremely helpful, thank you. I had no idea that the modes were editable.
I just wish it were possible to have evf with eye sensor only but to get the camera menus to show up on the lcd. There doesn't seem to be any way to do this.
Great hint! Thanks!
Love these Fuji breakdowns
Great video, thanks!
XH2S does not have the edit function with Q button. Thanks though. Love your videos!
Both helpful and entertaining. Thank you very much.
Thanks Chris
As always.... thank you
Very useful !
well that was pretty awesome i will be going over this with my xt5 thank you 😀
You're the best. Great explanation as always.
Great explanation. Never realized those features
Chris, that was helpful, 🙏
Thanks for the video. On my X-H2 Function Limit View Mode is not available (Firmware 5.0).
You are fun to learn from! 😁
you are an amazing wealth of information.... Thank you!
Great thank you, but I've tried to change the pre selection option with the Q button in my X-H2 (newest firmware) but it doesn't work?
The viewmode that makes most sense to me is automatically switching between EVF and LCD based on the eye sensor, and actually I always leave it at that and forget about the viewmode switch!

Another great video
This man’s videos are really wort two likes each, it’s a bummer i can tap the thumb up only once ❤
Dang the last one is awsome
Thank you for the dedication! 🔥🫶

How about a little something about the screens different modes, performance, eco etc. I realized at some setting I had flickering on the screen when shooting video, but the recording was ok...
Very useful tip! Would've appreciated having it on my X-T4 but i can't find the viewmode settings
thanks for tech video, like them

AWESOME
First! 😂 Again a very informative video! ❤

Oooo, my eye cup fell off too! :) (On my X-H1)
One quirk I've noticed is that if you are wearing a florescent reflective vest it activates the eye sensor even if you don't have the camera near your eye.
More fun with Fuji. I keep my camera nearby so I can follow along.
Chris, greetings from Transylvania !
You should try the Sigma 18-50 F2.8 Fuji mount, it's actually an awesome lens.
Cheers!

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe there's another way to do it.
Thanks ... I think I now know what happened to annoy me during a photo shoot.
The Q-menu trick doesn't seem to work on the X-H2S. Is there a way? It would be very useful to shorten the view options.
Love my h1,xt3 & xt4 … all with hand exposure controls. I refuse going back to the PASM controls on new Fujis! Not knowing which new models use PASM, I guess I must stay with my older models? Unless somebody does a video explaining which models have the original and which now use PASM?
Amazing. How does he learn this stuff?
Hi. I have a X-S20. How can I keep the metering esposure in the EVF or in the LCD while changing the ISO? Please!!! Help!!!! 👋👋
sadly the change view mode setting isn't available on my xt-2
i have an X-T5, the bottom mode, eye sensor+lcd image display kinda works, take the picture, picture previews for 1.5 secs, lcd screen comes back on? I thought the lcd stayed off on this setting? Firmware is up to date.

How can we preview the finished shot when not in manual mode. Can't seem to get a preview in the evf in S or A. Everything is uniform.
👍👍👍
As always, very informative (and entertaining). Keep up the good work Chris 😊
The Fuji xt5 is the most customizable and feature rich camera I've ever had. I've had it for 10 months now and I still don't know all the features
i use (evf only + eye sensor) with my xt-3, it's a great battery saver and i really don't like to use lcd screen to compose, i honestly barely tolarate evf, i prefer ovf.

Interesting. The mode I want doesn't exist: the LCD is on all the time, and the EVF is off unless I bring my eye to the viewfinder.
Hmmm.. and what mode you want? I want *only* the LCD when at distance and *only* the EVF when bringing my eye to the viewfinder and this is what I get.
"view mode setting" is not available on XT-4, latest firmware 2.12. I'm talking about this: ua-cam.com/video/UpZ2-NkSnKs/v-deo.htmlsi=Ms-H1FgXGCB3hUeX&t=294

Too bad the X-H1 doesn’t have the “view mode setting” 😢
Oooh no it doesn't work on the x-t20 ( the fact that you can choose the modes in the rotation)
Can't customise the view move cycle on XT20 😢
