If it was funny it would be edgy and acceptable. The problem is that it wasn't, and I watched the whole thing, cringing, much more than I would at an inappropriate drunken bridesmaids' speech at a snooty wedding.
I am so embarrassed for her family and friends. This should be a PSA for not drinking at public events. It is unfortunate that her mention for First Nations (the only good part of the whole thing) was completely tarnished by the train wreck that followed.

sortedtales The others want to either implememnt a carbon tax or cap and trade or some other green scheme and turn us back to the stone age because of the fear of global warming. Look at what this kind of green agenda has done to Ontario, giving us the highest priced power in Canada and all but a hadfull of US states. For example, the off peak smart meter rate has gone up 90% since May 1, 2009, the year the Green Energy Act was implemented. The Liberals said it would only raise the price of power 1%/year. We lose over a billion dollars a year dumping surplus power in other jurisdictions. Almost all of the expensive wind power is exported, and if it's not, were duming water at our hydro plants without making power, the cheapest power we have.

***** I'm just voting for the lesser of all the evils. In 2011 I considered just spoiling my ballot. Then after hearing about all the carbon tax or cap and trade nonsense, I considered each platform. Only the Conservatives weren't planning any such thing, so holding my nose that's where my vote went. If you want to see corruption, look at the Ontario Liberal Government.
She seems like quite an unpleasant person. Who could possibly vote for this woman? She isn't slurring her speech and she is walking normally. Don't blame alcohol. She said what she truly believes which is fine but, we need to realize, Elizabeth May is not leadership material.

I don't see what went wrong...sure the comment Liz made at the end was controversial but her entire speech was completely harmless and honest even funny at some points plus she had a little too much to drink I'm sure everyone had their drunk moments at some point in their lives she's human it happens and plus it's a press gallery dinner for god sakes a very non-serious event not question period so please people don't take things like this too seriously. She's still one of the most nicest & very honest politicians in the house & the news outlets really blew this story out of proportion she didn't even need to apologize I don't think this is gonna hurt her political career or the Green Party's rep that much.

We're living in a time when we have our first actual dictator, when our rights and freedoms are being stripped away and our national sovereignty is being fragmented for corporate dominance. BTW, the union of state of corporate power is by definition Fascism. A lot of people see the writing on the wall but Canadians lack the guts or patriotism, or whatever it is Americans have, to take to the streets about it. Canadians only fuss or riot over sports. That's not how polite discourse works. We don't solve problems by drunkenly screaming about them at random times. She has more means than almost anyone else to affect the changes she wants in a normal way. As a politician she should have known that, and now people all over Canada (including myself) take her less seriously, and now her views will be taken less seriously.

Well, I think many potential greens simply voted Trudeau because of the ABC campaign. Same with the NDP failure…lots of young progressives wanted to vote NDP, but strategic voting saw Libs as the safe bet.
No doubt May is crazy!!!! but we need a far leftist group in Canada, both Libs and NDP are more centralist. Which is a good place for compromise against the right wing nonsense, but we need a far left starting point sometimes, and thats what the greens are good for. Personally, i'd like to see them with a few more seats, and have a more blended parliament.
