Microsoft slept on handhelds for too long, and the prototypes they’ve been playing with are Xbox ones. Valve seized the opportunity, and now PC gaming in Japan has grown substantially. I hope that when the Xbox handheld comes out in Japan (and frankly everywhere else), it will get its rear handed to it by the SD. Would serve Microsoft right for neglecting handheld PCs the entire time.

I had a win600 for a bit and found the performance to play windows games and emulate was quite good. I think a smaller and more affordable steam deck alternative could be fantastic.
I love the steam deck, but my god is it big. Really excited to for something with similar power that's closer to the size of the switch. Probably just a few years away.
Thanks for this review Russ, exactly the insights I was hoping to get, looking forward to your Loki Mini Pro review, the specs to price point ratio on that upcoming device look like is going to hit a real sweet spot in the market.

Great review! Honestly, the Steam Deck is still tough competition for other handhelds. This seems like a solid choice if you haven't yet jumped into the handheld market, though, sometimes it just seems better to wait and see what comes next. Steam Deck may not be the most portable but Valve really set the bar incredibly high! 2023 is slowly coming to an end, so I can't imagine what will be next in the 2024 handheld market!
I got mine a week ago. For $199 early preorder, free 8gb ram along with free 128gb rom and 1080p screen upgrades, it's pretty nifty. I've gotten nearly everything I've thrown at it to 'playable', with settings too butchered on some AAA PC games to read text, albeit with terrible battery life. It's great or emulation (up to gen 6) and indie gaming, it has a place in my handheld arsenal.
I think the loli zero would've been perfect if your unit had came with a 720p display. I don't understand the need to keep everything at 1080p as a standard for handhelds if the hardware can't keep up.
They were having issues/taking time with interfacing the display (one of the reasons I canceled my pre-order after a year). So I assume to actually get them out the door they just yeeted them all with the same display. I didn't know they were going to do that with the screen; the 720p display was one of the only reasons I was interested in such a weak system (I had a SteamDeck already, wanted something for emulation and older games, something cheaper, but the steamdeck is not even that much more expensive now, $319 used)
I also, was impressed with the Win600, for what it was. I had actually gotten my Steam Deck, finally, right after I got my Win600. The only thing I was disappointed with was the lack of external expansion, a*k*a micro sd card slot. It's been over a year & at that time, I didn't think the pricing was that bad. They offered preorder discounts & went on sale quite often. Now the Loki Zero, definitely destroys it in every way, despite having the same processor, includes expandable memory & the price is perfect, in my opinion. With that said, I think, or at least I hope, Anbernic knocks it out of the park this time around, with the upcoming Win701!
I really love your channel and vids. Your vibe is so refreshing in this space. I often find myself watching vids on things that I don't even plan on buying!
I actually love having the sticks bound to the back button. It's dumb you can't change that, but I've found binding the R3 and L3 to other buttons lengthens the lifespan of the joysticks greatly.
I hope we see more entry level handheld PCs like this, it would be great if Asus or Lenovo brought out more portable and budget friendly offerings instead of only top end devices. And if Microsoft could give us a handheld and more lightweight version of windows to go with them it would be the icing on the cake. I want something portable and affordable that lets me play the indie games in my Steam, Epic and other libraries, plus emulation, while I keep those modern AAA titles for my gaming laptop or home console. These expensive, heavy, battery-draining handheld PCs coming out hold no interest for me.
Still waiting on my Loki Mini Pro to ship. Bunch of games on Gamepass that I want to play but think would be better on handheld, like Chained Echoes and Sea of Stars
1. Will you be doing a win600 / loki zero / loki mini pro performance/power usage comparison? Should have tried some of the same older (early 2010s and older) 3d games that was used for the win600 review. 2. Some people mention their loki come with a pre calibrated icc profile to choose in windows color management, does any of your loki has them? 3. Why are you switching between vulkan/dx11 during your emulation test even within the same system (e.g ps2)? Does vulkan gives issue for some games? 4. Is dreamcast/n64 not possible at 1080p? Why opengl for those tests? The windows psp result really off as well, why not stick to vulkan for all testing and only use dx11 or opengl (worst on amd) when vulkan don't work properly?
Also if we get a even more efficient processor that would be a plus. It could compete with some Android handhelds for being less suck and able to play PC games natively without Hangover or Exagear (eww).
I'd say more like a war of attrition era of handheld, where most company just dump out handhelds after handhelds with only a bit better spec, but hundred dollars more expensive. Sooner or later most of these companies will go bankrupt because they don't want to buy their 10th 7840U PC that's $1200 and will be forgotten in 3 weeks
@@bulletpunch9317 the problem with PC in general is the Windows OS. look how Steam OS handles their game. its not perfect but somehow a bit efficient. I have ROG ally the CPU usages randomly Hits 70-80% while idle or doing nothing
@@bulletpunch9317 Spouting about ARM advantages don't mean much until they can handle higher end games or the underlying system can utilize them. And yes, I tried games on phones (ARM CPUs), and they are not keeping up in the slightest.
The inconsistency is likely due to single channel memory. I suggest populating the second slot with 4 or 8 gigs of memory to enable the Dual Channel configuration. Gaming performance really improves on dual vs single channel.
AMD benefits a LOT from higher ram speeds and the fact that it'll run at 2400Mhz will just bring everything down, they should have beenrunning at 3200Mhz
Some of the results are really all over the place, did you install the latest amd driver and make sure no windows update or defender scanning was taking place in the background? And why the switching between vulkan/dx11 and even opengl for the emulation testing?
Hey RGC, Could you do a comparison video between the Loki Zero and the Anbernic RG405M. I love the size and build of the RG405M, but am now torn that Loki Zero is only $80 more, has more game accessibility (steam access) and may be more of an emulation powerhouse. I am curious how they compare: side by side in feel and form factor using their out of box OS in hardware differences with ease of serviceability in battery life regarding emulation capabilities Thanks for all you do. You are my go to handheld channel. And I have enjoyed learning snippets about your journey in life. Thanks for serving.
You made a great point about it being more compared to the Switch. In my case, the modded Switch is just unbeatable in this range. It would be good to see comparisons of Switch ports and PC games on here like NBA 2K23, Doom Eternal, Dark Souls, and Witcher 3. The Switch has watered down ports for these, but still assuming it's better than playing these games natively on this device.
If it does come back in stock, refurbished Steam Deck 64GB models are $320, just $70 more than this. IMO it makes all the more sense to jump to that, you get a better user experience software wise and far superior HW. Not to say this device isn't cool af, at $250 for a handheld gaming console, its awesome!
13:20 for me it's not so much whether I want to buy it on PC or Switch, it's whether I want to buy it on Switch again to play it in mobile. I already have many MANY games from humble bundle. This is why I bought my steam deck, so I could finally get to play them in a more mobile format and not have to buy the games again (and also I get more PC specific games in a mobile format with processing hardware that isn't midrange hardware from 2014)
hey russ did not see in your video comments about the feeling of heating the console. One of the aspects that bothered me the most about win600 was the heating of the screen and part of the console's body. could you say something about it on loki zero?
Finally someone doing a video of the Loki Zero!!! Been looking for videos for months but NOTHING!!!! I wanna see what this thing is capable of!!!! Plz test games like MW2 2009 or Burnout Paradise and GTA 5 and such, i really wanna see those!
I hate how big the deck is and the choice of the controls being in line instead of like a xbox or ps controller, but its just the smarter deal. You can get a deck for $300 used fairly easily. This is $250 without any storage and while Ayn makes a hell of a product you still will be waiting forever to get it. My Odin was the best feeling handheld i ever had. It was built so solid you could put a Nintendo logo on it and people would believe it. That's very different then other Chinese handhelds. That said they completely botched the entire loki launch. While the handheld is a really nice size, the bezels are so big you could have easily fit a 7" display in there left to right and maybe had to make it a few millimeters taller. Add how long it took them to come to market with an outdated chip and it was dead on arrival. They need to skp the 7840u at this point they are so behind and start designing the shell for the next gen chips. Make it just big enough for a 7" display with barely any bezels and build it as solid as their other products. That could be a winner. Plus if they have the shell designs ready maybe they could release a product without taking a year.
7:52 omg WHY they placed copper heat sink right near the battery, battery might be dead quite too fast because of that or even worse it might overheat badly
Hello, anyone have any idea where to download the Loki Control Center app? I had to uninstall mine after it got corrupted from downloading the newest version.
this is ridiculously tempting at the price, but a dual core windows pc is just too limiting. I cant see the justifications of this over a steamdeck with proton which handles older less demanding games anyway. The only windows pc handeld that makes sense is one that can run anything a steam deck cant, newer drm, high performance games, and for that you kinda have to go rog ally or onexfly edit: using this with batocera shows the potential this could've been, but at that point I'd argue you might as well get a retroidpocket
1. not every country has official access to steam deck (especially the refurbished ones that people keep throwing out in discussion), importing means additional hassle and fees. 2. steam deck and rog ally, and the upcoming legion go is in different class of its own due to their size/form factors. I myself owns a steam deck and is still looking for a smaller/different (and hopefully cheaper) device as a companion to it, though the Loki Zero is not for me as well. Waiting for the mini pro review to see how it goes or will just continue to wait further for alternatives. Those who got it for $199 during the first 6 months (with the free 4gb ram during the first month) before they increase it to $249 this Jan definitely gets a good deal for a 2D indie/old games machine though.
So 6-8 watts plays good and averages about 3 and a half hours at 60 fps which means that with 30 fps and 40 hz enabled is it possible that it would average 6 hours or 5 and a half? If it can this is still a pretty good handheld pc for games like mario and 2d games like hades or ps1
This might be weird, but I just love it when Russ says “grab your favorite drink and a snack and let’s jump right in”. It reminds me that I should enjoy content instead of just consuming it at my standard, alarming rate.
If want this as a emulation device I would rather recommend a android phone with Snapdragon 865 or higher and a gamepad because you can get that pretty cheap on the used market and the emulation performance is much better
@azraeihalim I agree in terms of price to performance. However, I think the size of these devices is the real selling point, so I don't think the steam deck is an apt comparison in this case.
Glad to see a budget option. Though looking at its PC performance, I think as Android Wine options develop, we are gonna see similar performance on phones.
@@colbyboucher6391 Right ha. I just mean Box64 is hitting some lighter indie games that this can handle. And it's only gonna get easier with things like Cassia
My dream is a dual boot tablet with both Android /windows being able to play at 120 fps even at low quality ,and of course play with the possibility to play multiplayer .. Currently I'm really hyped to the legion go but I play more on android than windows and i know it's a waste of money ,but there isn't any device that has those criteria for not too expensive ... And to put the hammer even more on the wasting money side ,I only play rocket league and shatterline on my pc lol,but I play a lot to rocket league at 240fps... I was thinking to the legion go but prefer a cheaper option beside cloud gaming ,so maybe buying a handheld pc and connect it to my lenovo legion y700 2022 tablet with superdisplay ? But for the 300€ range my options are limited if I prefer to not spend 800€...😢
I feel this would have made more of a difference a year or so ago. Since then Valve has shown they will put the steam deck on sale semi-regularly and even sell ones they refurb for $320. Thats a lot more power for just $70 more than this.
Hi Russ, I was really looking forward to his one. Perfect size, i find myself travelling without my Steam deck, which is too large, and I only use it at 4-6w, because I only play lighter games on the go. I have a laptop with an Athlon 3050u gpu. That is a pretty good and cheap machine (I paid 174 usd for it) and it came with 8/256Gb/HD config. I added +4gb ram, but it is still too laggy for Win 10. So I use it with MX linux, even for gaming. I can recommend this config for playing the Beat Hazard series, Caveblazers, Brotato, Vampire survivors, NFS Carbon, Dirt2, Bulletstorm, the Deponia series, Rayman Legends+Origins and even the legendary Open TTD. And yes, it runs Crysis.
I'm happy I went for the RP3+ at the time. First I got it earlier and enjoyed since, second, I would have been dissatisfied with both, for higher tier emulation, which would have pushed me to buy the Ally as I did. But, coupled with the RP3+ instead of the Loki Zero, I spared $100!!
just for reference, have you tried ryujinx instead of yuzu for switch emulation? i ask that because i found that amd apus usually perform drastically better with ryujinx than with yuzu. i had a ryzen 7 5700g and with yuzu everything was unplayable no matter how much i tweaked it while ryujinx actually managed to run at a somehow stable 25/30 fps on botw with very little tweaking.... if you haven't would it be too much to ask for you to test it when you have the time? thank you for your awsome content and for your eventual reply!
@@RetroGameCorps that’s bad marketing from them because the legion go could probably be the ultimate hybrid “dock/handheld” emulation machine, even better than the deck and they are missing out on a lot of exposition here…I’m still looking forward for your review of it eventually tho
I would definitely be curious about the results. That would show whether the single channel RAM is really a significant bottleneck, and there are other differences like cooling. I suspect the Win600 has more aggressive cooling since it's not particularly quiet. Also, I was surprised with the Wii U Batocera performance in this video, because it seems worse than the Win600. I'm not sure what's up there. EDIT: Also, the RAM on my Win600 is 16gb of 3200 Mhz at CL18. The RAM on this Loki Mini is locked to 2400 mhz and probably CL22. So despite being dual channel, it might not be definitively faster. Lots of things I'm curious about for a comparison.
@@harleyn3089 From my experience with my 3 mini PCs, going for single to dual (to be exact 64 bit memory bus to 128bit memory bus) should give anywhere from 0% to over 50% improvement in typical GPU constrained situations (unless you are talking about very weak integrated graphics paired with the fastest ddr5 ram, where single channel memory bandwidth already exceeded what the GPU can use), but 20-30% should be the most common. Really depend on the game and the different graphical settings used in the game, might not help much emulation though, except maybe increasing the resolution for lower end systems. You can check out Taki 's review for the win600 where he shown some good examples of how much/little dual channel can helps. Where did you get confirmation that they locked the memory speed in the bios for this Loki Zero? The tests results in this video is really all over the place, definitely something wrong with the drivers/settings or something running in the background for the windows test. No way this device cannot even run GoW PSP at 1x and the batocera results prove it. Really strange for dx11 and opengl to be used over vulkan for alot of the emulation tests as well.
That's crazy, my odin pro can handle everything i throw at it emulation wise, all ps2 games I've tested, and even chains of olympus. Seems like android is still the way to go for now.
The 3050e performs better for Gamecube than the SD845. Gamecube emulation is single threaded. PS2 is better on the SD845 because PS2 needs more threads. The optimizations in PCSX2 need 4 cores to perform well. The SD845 is 4 A75 cores and 4 A55 cores. The 3050e is 2 Ryzen cores. The 3050e is way faster single threaded, the SD845 is way faster multithreaded. (I have both the Odin Pro and the Win600. The Win600 under Batocera performs better for almost everything other than PS2.)
If you only want to emulate, yes, you have a lot of options with android, but people who prefer Handheld PC use it more to play PC games, not to emulate
if your Odin Pro can handle God of War 2 full speed without speed hacks (messing around with ee cycle etc), you definitely strike a gold mine with your Odin Pro, a golden chip that none of the Odin Pro reviewers can match.
At this price/performance I think I'd rather get an Android handheld instead. This doesn't really do much that the Odin can't aside from very old PC games, but the Odin will get 2x the battery life.
@@alex-gg5yr did u use it ? no then shut it , i did and was good ,nothin to compare to 6800u but solid for price it open pc gmes plus all android emu can just better
Its a nice budget handheld. However I think it should be at the 185-200 price range. Its similar to the Odin, and the Odin seems to have better performance ...but I understand this is a windows based handheld.
How is it that this thing seems like it can hardly keep up with the retroid pocket 3+ for emulation? The T618 only has a single core score of like 1100.
Russ what is the overlay app you are using?I have the Ally but wouldn't mind the customization offered by the one you are using. In relation to Linux, have you thought about trying something like ChimeraOS?
I’m using a combination of MSI Afterburner and HWinfo to make the overlay, it’s kind of a pain to set up properly but I really wanted to show the battery data in this video 😎 Yes, ChimeraOS would be another excellent option, I need to try it out!
Does this device is shipped with Windows 10 or Windows 11? I'm worried for the long run when windows has to be fresh installed for better performance and I lack of knowledge on the software that comes with the device from stock. Thanks in advance! I'm really into it but not 100% sure yet to get it.
Hey man. This is kinda off topic.. cant seems to have an option to contact you its about batocera when i install the stable version i cant seems to run games.. it hangs then purple screen with lines appear.. can you help me?? This is my first time installing batocera
Is there any technical reason for screen with thin bezels not being the standard for these handhelds? Look how much space the screen could have if it wasn't for this huge bezels
Russ, I don't know it would make any difference for you, but TecToy (the same from 90's, which sold SEGA hardwares and official "romhacks" with them in Brazil) is releasing a new PC Handheld around here, called Zeenix. But....... it's actually a modified AYN Loki Zero! AYN stopped selling it worldwide to give it to TecToy LOL. So, I don't know if it would be interesting to you somehow to make a new video revisiting LOKI Zero as Zeenix just for the curiosity of it for everybody outside Brazil, or maybe to compare both and help your brazilian audience (If it has any significance) to understand if there's any difference at all. Thanks :D
This one that I tested does have the dual channel RAM config -- 4GB onboard, and then 4GB SODIMM. So I am not sure we'll be able to brute force any additional performance on this (older) chip.

Steam Deck may not be the most portable but Valve really set the bar incredibly high! 2023 is slowly coming to an end, so I can't imagine what will be next in the 2024 handheld market!
Do emulators run on Steam OS?
@@vrASMR180Yep. Just about every system either through retroarch or their own emulator.
@@vrASMR180yes they do
@@vrASMR180Emudeck
@@vrASMR180old comment, but yes, absolutely. This channel has a ton of videos about emulation on Steam Deck
Waw I hesitated because I did not trust their shipping that's exactly what these devices are for imo though Indie gaming.
@@akeemmorrison2589 I'd say it's a pretty niche use-case for sure, as even cheaper Android handhelds can be had for emulation.
Oh wow $200 ??? That’s a steal
Q3 preorder is not 200 and the upgrades aren't free. So this is cap.
$200 i can see the value. Any higher referb steam deck is the best bang for the buck.
I didn't know they were going to do that with the screen; the 720p display was one of the only reasons I was interested in such a weak system (I had a SteamDeck already, wanted something for emulation and older games, something cheaper, but the steamdeck is not even that much more expensive now, $319 used)
Stop looking at Loli stuff, and your phone won't autocorrect to it.
Loli🤤🤤🤤😭😭💢💢💢
Can it be done on other AyN devices, like odin?
They aren't mapped to anything on the odin. So yes.
So, were you able to find something that fit the bill?
Still waiting on my Loki Mini Pro to ship. Bunch of games on Gamepass that I want to play but think would be better on handheld, like Chained Echoes and Sea of Stars
I'm low-key impressed by this
Where can i buy?
I hope more companies follow this example :)
Also if we get a even more efficient processor that would be a plus. It could compete with some Android handhelds for being less suck and able to play PC games natively without Hangover or Exagear (eww).
Which one? Low performance route?
which? delaying products for more than 9 months?
✅ Hadoukenable
✅ Shoryukenable
4:55 thanks Russ!
we truly are in the golden age of handheld pc's right now
not yet. if AMD starts 2nm or 1nm nodes on their APU which i hope more efficient and soon. that would be the real golden age
@@qwerty6789xthey can do 0.5 or 0.25 nm whatever, the games are just gonna get heavier and youll still never match the arm efficiency..
@@bulletpunch9317 the problem with PC in general is the Windows OS. look how Steam OS handles their game. its not perfect but somehow a bit efficient. I have ROG ally the CPU usages randomly Hits 70-80% while idle or doing nothing
@@bulletpunch9317
Spouting about ARM advantages don't mean much until they can handle higher end games or the underlying system can utilize them.
And yes, I tried games on phones (ARM CPUs), and they are not keeping up in the slightest.
@17:32 you seem to be running God of War in DX11 mode? Surely PPSPP would run better in Vulkan mode with its AMD APU?
The inconsistency is likely due to single channel memory. I suggest populating the second slot with 4 or 8 gigs of memory to enable the Dual Channel configuration. Gaming performance really improves on dual vs single channel.
This review is the 8 gb configuration, which is dual channel.
Exactly! The effect of double channel ram is not that big, btw
Hey RGC,
Could you do a comparison video between the Loki Zero and the Anbernic RG405M. I love the size and build of the RG405M, but am now torn that Loki Zero is only $80 more, has more game accessibility (steam access) and may be more of an emulation powerhouse. I am curious how they compare:
side by side
in feel and form factor
using their out of box OS
in hardware differences
with ease of serviceability
in battery life
regarding emulation capabilities
Thanks for all you do. You are my go to handheld channel. And I have enjoyed learning snippets about your journey in life. Thanks for serving.
Excellent video Russ, thank you!
I actually don't know why I even watch reviews of devices I don't want to buy, but I love your reviews! 😁
Switch games that already have native versions tend to not work on emulators
If it does come back in stock, refurbished Steam Deck 64GB models are $320, just $70 more than this. IMO it makes all the more sense to jump to that, you get a better user experience software wise and far superior HW. Not to say this device isn't cool af, at $250 for a handheld gaming console, its awesome!
Word 💯
Been waiting for this review!
13:20 for me it's not so much whether I want to buy it on PC or Switch, it's whether I want to buy it on Switch again to play it in mobile. I already have many MANY games from humble bundle. This is why I bought my steam deck, so I could finally get to play them in a more mobile format and not have to buy the games again (and also I get more PC specific games in a mobile format with processing hardware that isn't midrange hardware from 2014)
So super light or ancient 3D PC games along with emulation that is on par or slightly better than something like a Retroid Pocket 3+?
anything below 2013 pc 3D gaming should work fine with this chipset
Pity they couldnt do the Mendocino processor at this price - it would be a lot more interesting and give a ligher weight alternative to the SD.
ad 7$ price diff they ask 100+ for iit
I'm STILL waiting for the Ayn Loki Mini Pro!!!
one of the first handheld pc's that has caught my eye
hey russ did not see in your video comments about the feeling of heating the console. One of the aspects that bothered me the most about win600 was the heating of the screen and part of the console's body. could you say something about it on loki zero?
23:51 You did something in the Win600 video in Batocera that made Windwaker HD go from that to playable.
The inline controls on the Deck are perfect for ergonomics
@@brandon_nope Strongly disagree and its why every other controller follows the PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo style of offset controls.
My Loki Mini Pro finally arrived yesterday. I still need to get it set up, but I can’t wait to start playing it on it this weekend.
7:52 omg WHY they placed copper heat sink right near the battery, battery might be dead quite too fast because of that or even worse it might overheat badly
Hello, anyone have any idea where to download the Loki Control Center app? I had to uninstall mine after it got corrupted from downloading the newest version.
20:44 how can you do that sit with mario without shaking the console? How did you put shake on a button??
this is ridiculously tempting at the price, but a dual core windows pc is just too limiting. I cant see the justifications of this over a steamdeck with proton which handles older less demanding games anyway. The only windows pc handeld that makes sense is one that can run anything a steam deck cant, newer drm, high performance games, and for that you kinda have to go rog ally or onexfly
edit: using this with batocera shows the potential this could've been, but at that point I'd argue you might as well get a retroidpocket
1. not every country has official access to steam deck (especially the refurbished ones that people keep throwing out in discussion), importing means additional hassle and fees.
2. steam deck and rog ally, and the upcoming legion go is in different class of its own due to their size/form factors.
Adhere a tiny piece of foam where the triggers are stopped inside the case for sound suppression.
Almost 1am and I got a good buzz going while I play my mini pc/batocera set up…. And then Russ drops another vid!
The loki mini pro seems very worth it for $100 more.
Until you compare with SD prices especially the refurbish SD.
@azraeihalim I agree in terms of price to performance. However, I think the size of these devices is the real selling point, so I don't think the steam deck is an apt comparison in this case.
@@alfredellis8549 True. The balance between size, portability and ergonomic just great
At that point might as well get a refurbished SD, its so close that you might as well save up a bit longer.
The 7320u is not a good processor either...
Glad to see a budget option. Though looking at its PC performance, I think as Android Wine options develop, we are gonna see similar performance on phones.
We get similar performance on phones now. You wanna play GoW on your phone? I sure don't.
@@colbyboucher6391 Right ha. I just mean Box64 is hitting some lighter indie games that this can handle. And it's only gonna get easier with things like Cassia
@@colbyboucher6391 On your phone? No. But next android handhelds are coming quick and they'll be similarly priced to the Loki Zero.
Yep
Amazing video review by Russ as always. Handheld looks great. 😊
I love this channel.

Will it runner Killer Instinct on MAME? If so, what else do you need?

Great review as always, how Ori, Ori sequel, Tunic and Dredge perform on Loki Zero ? Battery life to expect ?
just for reference, have you tried ryujinx instead of yuzu for switch emulation? i ask that because i found that amd apus usually perform drastically better with ryujinx than with yuzu. i had a ryzen 7 5700g and with yuzu everything was unplayable no matter how much i tweaked it while ryujinx actually managed to run at a somehow stable 25/30 fps on botw with very little tweaking.... if you haven't would it be too much to ask for you to test it when you have the time? thank you for your awsome content and for your eventual reply!
I really hope that we’ll be able to see a Lenovo Legion Go review soon!
Unfortunately they haven’t reached out, so I will likely get mine the same time as everyone else who buys it.
@@RetroGameCorps that’s bad marketing from them because the legion go could probably be the ultimate hybrid “dock/handheld” emulation machine, even better than the deck and they are missing out on a lot of exposition here…I’m still looking forward for your review of it eventually tho
We need a Loki Zero vs Win600 comparison video.
@@DienerNoUta yea you're right, this is an amazing entry level pc handheld, if you don't happen to have a steam deck
if your Odin Pro can handle God of War 2 full speed without speed hacks (messing around with ee cycle etc), you definitely strike a gold mine with your Odin Pro, a golden chip that none of the Odin Pro reviewers can match.
At this price/performance I think I'd rather get an Android handheld instead. This doesn't really do much that the Odin can't aside from very old PC games, but the Odin will get 2x the battery life.

Its a nice budget handheld. However I think it should be at the 185-200 price range. Its similar to the Odin, and the Odin seems to have better performance ...but I understand this is a windows based handheld.
Can i ask why you were playing games like sea of stars at 1080p when the screen only goes up to 720p?? Arent u using more power for little difference?
Have you ever tried using the linux subsystem on windows to run linux emulators? I wonder if you would see the same performance benefits
It would be better just to install or dual-boot Linux at that point.
How is it that this thing seems like it can hardly keep up with the retroid pocket 3+ for emulation? The T618 only has a single core score of like 1100.
Dual core in 2023 runs about as expected
@N_N23296 meh, the Mini Pro would be a fair bit better for not much more.
A dual core 14nm chip based off 2017 architecture limited to 2400mhz.
this was what i was originally going to buy, but im glad i got the steam deck. i have vision issues so the bigger screen helps.
Russ what is the overlay app you are using?I have the Ally but wouldn't mind the customization offered by the one you are using.
In relation to Linux, have you thought about trying something like ChimeraOS?
I’m using a combination of MSI Afterburner and HWinfo to make the overlay, it’s kind of a pain to set up properly but I really wanted to show the battery data in this video 😎
Yes, ChimeraOS would be another excellent option, I need to try it out!

Is there any technical reason for screen with thin bezels not being the standard for these handhelds? Look how much space the screen could have if it wasn't for this huge bezels
It's a financial reason. Thin bezel screens are way more expensive, and more expensive to implement as well.
Thanks :D
Will you do a follow-up with upgraded ram in the future? Curious to know how having a dual channel config will improve framerate on that device.
This one that I tested does have the dual channel RAM config -- 4GB onboard, and then 4GB SODIMM. So I am not sure we'll be able to brute force any additional performance on this (older) chip.
