just a quick tip for owners: the quick-access pocket on the side houses a magnet dock for a keyring. I didn't have to buy it as an extra from Boundary Supply, because my Modern Dayfarer Sling already came with exactly the one listed on Boundary's website. BUT: do yourselves a favor and get the $18 divider floor. It segments the bag into 1/3 at the top, 2/3 at the bottom. Everything in the middle and bottom will be accessible easily through the side door, and stuff at the top should be stuff you don't need that of quick access to, because the only way to get it is to place the bag down and go in via the top.
Sorry, Aaron, but the statement "the side access isn't that great and the top is even worse" totally contradicts my experience. I have the divider floor installed, so when I open the side door, I have immediate access to everything in the middle and the bottom. Note that the side door is large and easy to open, far larger than say the one at the Wandrd Prvke (and compare the top access from the Prvke to this one - miles apart, I am ten times quicker with the errant). Getting things from the top is always a joy, because the divider holds it there, and you get to use the awesome magnet-buckles. And with the additional magnets installed in the flap, the fabric always folds into itself automagically. Aside from the Peak Design Backpacks, this is, to me, a backpack with the best accessibility I have seen (I own about 30 bags). The most important things go in the bottom, because the side lets you access them without taking the bag off. The rest goes in the top section. So sorry, my experience totally contradicts what you're saying. Maybe it's just an issue of having the divider floor installed or not. Because then things get messy and inaccessible. Overall, I love the looks and the feature-playground. I just can't decide whether the Peak Design Everyday 30l or this one (I own the black xpac version) is the best bag overall to me.

Thanks for the review, as a Boundary Supply first "backpack" backer, my Prima System "zips" and "PU coating" started to fail. The backpack would leave flaking coat all over the floor, making it super frustrating when travel. It seems that the PU coating doesn't like our Asia climate and I was right when I'd look up into different reviews and marketplaces - the other bags had the same issue, zips and PU coat would fail after 2 years. The bag looks way cooler in person. Best color is black, in my opinion. I got the black xpac version, because i like the gold interior better than the dark green of the nylon edition - the gold creates much more of an highlight effect.
yeah I may have missed the ball a bit on that one, I will stand by the fact that it's not the best way to access the main compartment, but it's def better than nothing
Great review! One thing I love about the side access pocket is that it allows you to bypass having to work the double-fidlock, as well as the deep-dark-mysterious-secrets-of-the-universe access of the top of the bag. The Prima System backpack (which this is as much of a sequel to as the original Errant) has similar access, but it's quite a bit smaller, so it isn't as useful. I keep my main compartment buckled about 90% of the time and use the side access instead, unless I need to really pack the bag out.
@@Nomads.Nation Not at all! Just different uses for different people, hard to see all needs from all angles sometimes. Just figured it would be helpful for anyone watching this who's considering this bag. Appreciate your review. Good luck with your bag project!
Got this during a brief period around the Black Friday sales where they (accidentally?) listed it at the normal Errant's price for a few hours, plus your coupon still worked, so I couldn't just pass on that deal. It's def very engineered and might not be able to use every feature. It's a bit big for my EDC, a bit small for any long travel, so I think this slots into a weekender bag for me
Jealous of that deal! Quick question: is the back panel (facing outwards) on your bag like the one seen in this video (matte)? Or is it the shinier Hypalon version that more closely resembles the product images on the Boundary website? Thank you!
Love my original Errant, and this improved almost every quirk/issue I have with the original. Boundary’ build quality is excellent, and the (over)engineering is smart and useful. I’m glad to see you mention the weight. Most reviewers either gloss over or don’t mention at all this thing is almost twice the weight of the original, or the Aer City. I agree it looks dope, and organization is next level, but the added weight was a deal breaker for me. Here’s hoping for maybe a Errant 2.0 eventually. Legit probably the best review of this bag though, well done. P.S. counter point to the side access. Not just for photogs man. That’s generally where my tech pouch and AirPods Max w/ Waterfield case sit, and it’s way easier to grab them out the side, than dig in the bottom of the original.
Thanks for the comment Eric! And yea totally agree that I missed the mark on the side access a bit - what I should have said is side access is amazing, this one it good, but is mostly built for photographers, but can benefit anyone. ❤️
Biggest thought I’m having is that this is a PERFECT bag for likely most dig photogs. And overkill for likely most everyone else. But I do love the bag’s concept and look!
Great review once again Aaron! I had passed on boundary supply earlier offerings but this one looks really nice and you are 100% right about the looks. Even before you mentioned the PRVKE, the entire design reminds me of a PRVKE taken to the next engineering level, but probably heaver and definitely more expensive. But it has things they left out of the PRVKE (despite the recent updates which were all right on target). Glad you posted it, will use your link.
Thanks Dave! And yea, great call, I think the PRVKE is also one of the other best looking packs on the market - WANDRD killed it with that one, but I stil give the slightest edge to the Errant
370 is a steal for this. Thanks, Aaron! I'm going to wait for the next sale or black Friday discount though. I just can't see spending that much on another bag. If I didn't have so many though, I'd grab this one and stop 'the perfect bag' search!
Hi Aaron, I bought boundary errant after seeing your video 2 years ago, I have to tell you about the problem with this bag, everything about this bag is top notch, but it is ruined by the fabric in the middle of the front, the middle Many of the fabrics are peeling off like low-grade leather. I hope you can emphasize this fabric in the video and reflect it with the original factory
Hey there, question: when did you order your Pro, and is the back panel on it similar to the one here in this video (matte)? Or is it the shinier Hypalon material that more closely resembles the pictures on the Boundary website? Thank you!
As always, that was a dangle-stoppingly brilliant review, Aaron! I like this bag but I don’t think it’s for me. I use my edc for work a lot and this one looks a bit too hike-y for me. I also prefer to see expansion coming from the sides with a compression zip rather than the toploader aspect. Still, it looks really cool and such high quality! Question; if you really, realy, really had to choose, what would be your favourite material? Xpack just looks and sounds a bit to crinkly to me Cheers, Chris
Thanks for the love Chris! If I HAD to choose, I guess Ballistic Nylon. It's a bit overdone, but it's kinda the perfect material ever for a backpack (Albeit, slightly heavy)
Looks very versatile as EDC and 1 bag travel. I would appreciate your take when comparing to knack pack 2 large, Osprey 26+6, Here and Now 25L when considering weather resistance, organization, and long term investment.
@Aaron Radcliffe You’re most welcome! Seriously though, awesome review! Very thorough, and I love your sense of humor! I love this bag over the errant, and was excited to use it for travel, so I got the premium divider wall as well, except the premium divider wall they originally sold when the bag was released was cut too short unfortunately, so it’ll be a couple of months before they have them available again. I’ll be curious to see how it actually functions during travel. Thoughts?
@@secondhand_travel8705 Thanks so much! Me personally, I'm not crazy about the divider as I feel it compromises space and doesn't really add much value (at least to me). But then again I haven't really given them a solid go while traveling, so maybe I'd be surprisingly impressed if I did
thank you for another great detailed review! wish I've seen it before I got the bag.. Although very impressive backpack!! very heavy and uncomfortable (to me..) long time Boundary fan.. I got the Errant on kickstarter, and I really love it! however.. a little to small for my needs.. looking for a one pack that can serve as an EDC while sometimes caring some gear (laptop, tablet, drone, camera...) minimal traveling and the occasional hike while I'm traveling.. my top 2 contenders are Aer travel pack 3 and Able carry max. be happy to hear you take on that.. and if you have any other suggestions tnx
Glad to help! Both Aer and Able bags you mentioned are big, really big for EDC. Having said that, if you like the size and plan to use the bag for some outdoor stuff, def go with Able Carry Max - much more outdoorsy build and materials
While I am absolutely in love with this backpack, I can't get over one major flaw: the flimsy bottom. The fabric might be water resistant, but it is thin - really thin - with no padding at all. Whatever you got in the main compartment will hit the ground with absolutely no protection. I don't see how Boundary Supply, with all their wizardry and attention to detail, could overlook this. Coming from a Peak Design Everyday Backpack, which has 360 degree padding, I constantly worry about the stuff at the bottom of my Errant Pro ...
Well most traditional backpacks don’t have any type of substantial padding on the bottom and also more padding = more weight and this bag is already stupid heavy. Overall I def see your point, but it’s not a rule of thumb that backpacks should have this
That's true. I still think that with everything going on on this backpack, a few extra grams for padding wouldn't matter. Although I do see why people want a light backpack - and you seem to put quite a lot of importance on that issue with your backpack project - I personally don't mind the weight. The Alpaka Elements Travel Backpack is heavy as well, and this is still my favorite in this category. Is the weight an issue of minimizing the load, or is it because of concern over airline restrictions?
Great review, per usual. I don’t think I’ve seen a Shimoda review from you, particularly the Explorer v2. Seems like a good option for your alternatives. Any plans for that review?
Magnets don't create interferance with tech. Please consider looking into Woojin Magnetic Magic buckles or whatever magnet options are available on the market for your personal backpack project. Fidlocks are quite mainstream so finding an alternative magnet brand will help it stand out. Love your videos!
Awesome review as always Aaron! Already picked up this bag (and own the OG Errant), FWIW Boundary runs specials, i managed to get 17% off my purchase when I bought, which was helpful.
@@Nomads.Nation yeah, was a Halloween special and managed to get another discount applied as well. One thing I appreciate about Boundary is that shipping is usually free over a certain dollar amount, and they avoid duty costs. Great stuff being a Canadian.

@@pawez582 Is the back panel on your Errant Pro like the one here in this video (matte)? Or is it the shinier Hypalon version that more closely resembles the one on the website? Thank you!
Great review to confirm my guess that the errant pro is overengineered. I love my errant as an everyday backpack that becomes my occasional camera bag. But as much as i like to have the side camera access in the pro. The other stuff like the top flap, accessories seems overkill and adds more unnecessary weight.
@@Nomads.Nation totally agree I love their modular system they are trying to do with their bags. Just not a fan of the many visible dangly straps on this errant pro. Have a agree that it's very much geared towards the frequent travel photographer.
Edit: sorry last paragraph should be “although these 4 packs are NOT exactly in the same category as Errant Pro review, they….” Hey Aaron, Happy NY to you and the team! Nice review on this pack. Not many out there that’s thorough and seeing you use it throughout the day outside. I think it’s priced too premium and if it was more between 250-300, it would sell off the charts. Also I agree that although it is well designed, good looking, and uses great materials, it comes at a cost of weight. If this thing was 1 lb. less, it would be a home run, along with easier access. I do carry like a mule but when I travel to/from airports to hotels to meetings, it does get to my shoulders and back, ahem….PD travel packs are the worst when it comes to a comfort pack. And I don’t prefer using waist straps. Some noteworthy packs that surprised me on comfort, looks, materials, organization, easy access, and good value for money are: 1) Minaal Carry-on Backpack 3.0, got this on preorder for $239, no tax and free shipping; and 2) Nya-Evo Fjord 36l that was on KS and delivered in Sep. for $209.00, no tax + $10 shipping. More for outdoors but they have nice range of exterior colors and contrast materials. Zippers are super smooth, comfortable pack, and nice rolltop design with top and bottom separation. Even better on the 60l but that’s a beast and heavy; and 3) Heimplanet Transit Line Travel Pack 34l v2. It’s 2yrs old but for some reason never looked at it. Then BF came and they sold for $225, no tax + $25 shipping. I’m using it for commuting to/from work + travel and it’s lightweight and materials, zippers and organizations are great. And the straps are thin but very comfortable; and lastly 4) AERSF Travel Pack 3. Not the X-pac material as I’m not digging that bright orange (not for everyone, either blinds you and/or grabs too much attention). Great materials, comfortable, good organization, and good value for money at $217 (during BF), $18 tax and free shipping. Sorry for the long rant but although these 4 packs are exactly in the same category as this Errant Pro review, tbey were worth mentioning because of the pros: 1) comfortable; 2) good looking packs; 3) great materials; 4) good organizations and/or access; and 5) good value for money when on sale Some considerations for the pack you’re working on!
hey there, much appreciated on the epic comment! I agree that a lower price point would help them sell, but holy moly, there are so many features on this thing it has to be so expensive to make, so I also understand that Boundary Supply has to make a profit at the same time. Hoping to do my first Heimplanet and Nya-Evo reviews sometime this year 💪🏼
Great review, as always. I've had my Errant Pro for a couple of weeks now, I think it is great as an everyday tech / commute / office bag, it fits my work laptop plus a portable monitor without issues. In addition to my work stuff, I also like to carry my mirrorless with me sometimes. Did you get a chance to travel with it yet? Would it pass as a personal item? I know it is a couple of inches taller than 18 inches allowed by most US airlines, but it can probably be squished under the seat in front of you, if needed.
glad to hear you've been enjoying it so far! And no, I haven't had the chance to travel with it yet and I probably won't. Reason being if I'm traveling for a shorter trip I prefer to travel with a lighter/more minimalist bag (usually my go-to is Minaal Carry On or Able Carry Max)
Hey there, question: is the back panel on your Errant Pro like the one here in this video (matte)? Or is it the shinier Hypalon version that more closely resembles the pics on Boundary's website? Thank you!
Also to answer your question, I've flown with it a couple times here in the US and it fits excellently under the seat in front of you (on a 737 anyways). I also got the shelf/insert accessory, which allows me to keep a few things at the top of the bag so they're easier to access mid-flight, and thanks to this, I prefer the Errant Pro over my Prima system for flying now.
@@tarquintc for solid self standing bags check out Cubo LEV-24, Nomatic Backpack or Travel Pack, Aer Tech Pack 3, or the Fyro T22 (which full disclosure is my own bag)
Given the insane materials being used and comparing to market prices, I do think the price is justified (but while also acknowledging it’s very expensive). Also I don’t think the price was ever $170 - that was maybe the origins price for the Errant regular when it was released 8 years ago
In my opinion the original errant pack looked cool but was too small for most use cases. This pack on the other hand is so heavy empty I'm not sure my back could take carrying this around fully packed out... Also, on certain airlines where your backpack gets weighted at the gate and bags over 7 kg are forced checked this would be pretty bad if carrying camera gear. That'd be my main concerns with this bag. It does look cool though.
Great points! I think the capacity depends on person to person. If you carry more than 20L worth of gear around in your day to day then you better start stretching you back everyday cuz that's going to take a toll on your body.

Btw. Great review. And I dig the easy access to pens. I currently use the errant v1. I think the pro is too big for my needs. But I hope some of these feature from the pro make their way to n errant v3! Specifically the side access, fidlock latches and expandable top.
@@Nomads.Nation could you tell is there is some big difference between xpac and normal version? I mean this nylon and black front mainly because I see that he is Susceptible to scratches like in ordinary errant

Don’t like that you’re reviewing a bag specially made for you. Should review a stock item as they may substitute materials to make the quality seem better for your important review that a lot of people watch before buying.
I agree, but at the end of the day I had to review whatever they sent me. Plus the differences weren’t huge, and were probably just due to material stock issues which is common in the bag world. Thanks for watching!

100% agreed - I missed the mark on that one
@@Nomads.Nation Not at all! Just different uses for different people, hard to see all needs from all angles sometimes. Just figured it would be helpful for anyone watching this who's considering this bag. Appreciate your review. Good luck with your bag project!
@@rcast1986 thanks my dude!
Got this during a brief period around the Black Friday sales where they (accidentally?) listed it at the normal Errant's price for a few hours, plus your coupon still worked, so I couldn't just pass on that deal. It's def very engineered and might not be able to use every feature. It's a bit big for my EDC, a bit small for any long travel, so I think this slots into a weekender bag for me
Nice grab on the price! And yea, it's a legit weekender bag (also too big for me for EDC as I prefer ~17L at the mo)
The reason the luggage pass through is horizontal because the larger wheeled luggage has shorter handle length that comes out.
u sure about that? I have a large suitcase where the handle goes up all the way just like a smaller one
I like the inside lining color. It's bright to see your items but not neon orange ya know. And I love me some nywool, it's a great material
Nywool ROCKS
Biggest thought I’m having is that this is a PERFECT bag for likely most dig photogs. And overkill for likely most everyone else. But I do love the bag’s concept and look!
Other question I have is that it has a LOT of magnets. Which usually aren’t the greatest friend of computers and tech.
in my experience I've never had any problems with magnets on a bag and tech... but I'm not a scientist so I can't say for sure lol
Bought Boundary Supply Errant Pro with black Friday discount after looking at your review. Thank you.
Glad to help! Please let us know what you think of the bag after testing for a few weeks 🙏🏽
If I didn't have so many though, I'd grab this one and stop 'the perfect bag' search!
awesome that you found the perfect bag! now just gotta wait for it to hit the perfect price ;)
Hi Aaron, I bought boundary errant after seeing your video 2 years ago, I have to tell you about the problem with this bag, everything about this bag is top notch, but it is ruined by the fabric in the middle of the front, the middle Many of the fabrics are peeling off like low-grade leather. I hope you can emphasize this fabric in the video and reflect it with the original factory
damn that's really unfortunate, I believe they upgraded this material now to ballistic nylon which should be EXTREMELY durable.
Waited long time for the review :)
me too, it felt good to finally get it live haha
The Errant Pro is the best backpack I've ever owned.
its a f-ing beast, no doubt about that
Hey there, question: when did you order your Pro, and is the back panel on it similar to the one here in this video (matte)? Or is it the shinier Hypalon material that more closely resembles the pictures on the Boundary website? Thank you!
@@rcast1986 I ordered it at launch. It came as pictured online, I ordered the more expensive version for durability.
@@Triflixfilms Thank you!!
@@rcast1986 No problem, we plan on doing a review on our TRIFLIX TEAM Channel :)
Xpack just looks and sounds a bit to crinkly to me
Cheers, Chris
Thanks for the love Chris! If I HAD to choose, I guess Ballistic Nylon. It's a bit overdone, but it's kinda the perfect material ever for a backpack (Albeit, slightly heavy)
Looks very versatile as EDC and 1 bag travel. I would appreciate your take when comparing to knack pack 2 large, Osprey 26+6, Here and Now 25L when considering weather resistance, organization, and long term investment.
Great suggestions! I’ll add them to our to do list
The magnets on Errant bags are so damn fidgety I love them; was in on their Kickstarter for the OG Errant and was worth every penny!
damn you got an OG Errant - nice!

@@secondhand_travel8705 awesome, thanks for that!
Although very impressive backpack!! very heavy and uncomfortable (to me..)
long time Boundary fan.. I got the Errant on kickstarter, and I really love it! however.. a little to small for my needs..
looking for a one pack that can serve as an EDC while sometimes caring some gear (laptop, tablet, drone, camera...) minimal traveling and the occasional hike while I'm traveling..
my top 2 contenders are Aer travel pack 3 and Able carry max.
be happy to hear you take on that.. and if you have any other suggestions
tnx
Glad to help! Both Aer and Able bags you mentioned are big, really big for EDC. Having said that, if you like the size and plan to use the bag for some outdoor stuff, def go with Able Carry Max - much more outdoorsy build and materials
Haha I do like the quick access to pens, or in my case a sharpie. I always need a sharpie on hand ✋️
Gotta love a sharpie
@@askabl def a bit of both
Great review, per usual. I don’t think I’ve seen a Shimoda review from you, particularly the Explorer v2. Seems like a good option for your alternatives. Any plans for that review?
Most def, I've tried to reach out to them but they haven't gotten back to me yet. Hopefully we can collab in 2023 :)
Magnets don't create interferance with tech. Please consider looking into Woojin Magnetic Magic buckles or whatever magnet options are available on the market for your personal backpack project. Fidlocks are quite mainstream so finding an alternative magnet brand will help it stand out. Love your videos!
Great points Jay and appreciate the love!!

Great review to confirm my guess that the errant pro is overengineered. I love my errant as an everyday backpack that becomes my occasional camera bag. But as much as i like to have the side camera access in the pro. The other stuff like the top flap, accessories seems overkill and adds more unnecessary weight.
I love Boundary cuz they know who they are. To some it's over-engineered, but to others it's a feature-haven-wonderland lol
@@Nomads.Nation totally agree I love their modular system they are trying to do with their bags. Just not a fan of the many visible dangly straps on this errant pro. Have a agree that it's very much geared towards the frequent travel photographer.
@@Madillusionist yea the dangly situation on this bag is pretty intense 😂
Edit: sorry last paragraph should be “although these 4 packs are NOT exactly in the same category as Errant Pro review, they….”
Hey Aaron,
Happy NY to you and the team!
Some noteworthy packs that surprised me on comfort, looks, materials, organization, easy access, and good value for money are:
1) Minaal Carry-on Backpack 3.0, got this on preorder for $239, no tax and free shipping; and
2) Nya-Evo Fjord 36l that was on KS and delivered in Sep. for $209.00, no tax + $10 shipping. More for outdoors but they have nice range of exterior colors and contrast materials. Zippers are super smooth, comfortable pack, and nice rolltop design with top and bottom separation. Even better on the 60l but that’s a beast and heavy; and
3) Heimplanet Transit Line Travel Pack 34l v2. It’s 2yrs old but for some reason never looked at it. Then BF came and they sold for $225, no tax + $25 shipping. I’m using it for commuting to/from work + travel and it’s lightweight and materials, zippers and organizations are great. And the straps are thin but very comfortable; and lastly
4) AERSF Travel Pack 3. Not the X-pac material as I’m not digging that bright orange (not for everyone, either blinds you and/or grabs too much attention). Great materials, comfortable, good organization, and good value for money at $217 (during BF), $18 tax and free shipping.
Sorry for the long rant but although these 4 packs are exactly in the same category as this Errant Pro review, tbey were worth mentioning because of the pros: 1) comfortable; 2) good looking packs; 3) great materials; 4) good organizations and/or access; and 5) good value for money when on sale
Some considerations for the pack you’re working on!
hey there, much appreciated on the epic comment!
@@rcast1986 yep the back of my bag looks exactly like this, matte finish. Obviously, the middle piece is black as my backpack is black.

So the price went from $170 to $190 to $200 to now $219. I just purchased an AER Travel Pack 35L for $249 lol. How can they justify that cost?
It is not an epi-pen holder for those acute situations
