      I have the Takstar on my Nikon D3200 DSLR. I also use the Zoom H4N and use some cartiod mics into it and dump the Takstar audio in some cases. I also got the Boya lav you recommended a while back.

      I have a Samson R21S plugged into my camera.
      It's a dynamic mic and very directional, but that also means it won't pick up a lot of background noise like condenser mics do.
      It gives much better sound than the on board mic and the lapel mic that came with the camera.
      I think I paid between $20 and $30 for it at best buy a few years back.

    To my ears in this test I thought the Boya had the best overall quality sound with the Sennheiser second and the Saramonic a distant 3rd. Both the Sennheiser and Saramonic suffered with significant P popping and the Saramonic was cutting out at times. This says nothing about build quality and dependability but an interesting real world test. Another great video! Thanks Sean!

    • @Ethan-Wallace

      PierceWellnessCenter does the boys pickup a lot of background noise? Like if you’re a t a concert of loud events ??

  • @FrancisMaxino
    @FrancisMaxino 5 років тому +2

    The plosives on all those first microphones are through the roof with even c or k consonants, the Boya cuts plosives really well and is definitely the best in that respect even better than the Sennheiser !

    Listening to it over a smartphone the quality was very similar. Perhaps a bit more "tinny" at times with the first one. But also older ears here, so may not pick up all areas of sound. They were both better at eliminating the background noise than the double lapel mic yesterday.

  • @scotia807

    I just bought the Boya BY-WXLR8. I used the ol BY-WM6 receiver. The frequencies are not compatible but if you set the old receiver to 43 and the transmitter to 48 it works just fine. You have to check the frequencies and set them to the same regardless of the channels. I understand there are two versions of the BY-WM6 and the older one is not going to work directly with the newer system. I plugged it into my old Azden handheld DX-585 mic and it really sounds very good. It might be a suggestion to those that have an ol handheld and don't want to buy a new wireless mic system.

    Personally I have the Boya Wireless set. I use mine with the provided clip on lav mic. the sound is pretty decent but I notice it clips if the gains are set too high. its better to set it at a lower gain and edit it in post later.

    For wireless, they're pretty good but I'd go with a Rode Reporter with an XLR to 3.5 cable - The mic will run you $120 on amazon and the cable is about $10

    You're popping your plosives in the Saramonic. Sounds great for just a C-Note. Less popping in the Boya.

    More plosives with the Saramonic ... I like the Boya HM100 ... great for use with a Tascam DR10x. I don't see 600 bucks difference in the sound quality of the Boya and Senheiser, I think I would choose the Boya over any of the 3.

    Hey Sean, quick question, because I am not a tech or audio guy: If I were to be interviewing someone, and wanted to use a mic here, obviously I would have to purchase 2, but would I have both of them going to their designated receiver, and just shoot with my canon 80d? Im not even sure that that is the right way to ask the question but maybe you get it. Also, could you suggest some lavalier mics that you like and suggest for interviews as well? Maybe hook me up with some affiliate links for you

    your AVX sounds the best, consider now the Rode wireless Go II on a stick.... still budget but a little more. I thought the budget ones you had were ok and would do the trick in a pinch. Quick test is not enough really it would have to be put through paces in many environments to be a really good test.

    • @caseysgarage5991

      @jeandenishaas 6 років тому +1

      Casey's Garage Yeah, I tried that Boya lapel mic and it picked up so much ambient noise from the rode. I was thinking about mounting this mic, unless it had to be super close to the mouth?
