Honestly, potato potatoe, tomato tomatoe, kilometer kilometre, .... Dan-neli or Da-neli. Give me a break, who really cares and at the end of life what does it really care.
Oh trust us, some people DO care, as evidenced by how rude they were to us on our last video. 😬 And we personally do care to get pronunciations correct, especially for native Alaskan words. But we have heard it pronounced both ways 😊
@@AdventuresofAplusK We get it, just know 99% of us don't worry about that stuff. We see how genuine you guys are and appreciate the time you spend researching and sharing the things you learn! Travel safe!
The other day I was having what I think was an anxiety attack, not sure, for the first time. I turned on one of your vids because I knew no matter which one I picked it would be soothing and positive, and it helped me stay calm. Didn't even have to watch, just put it on in the background while doing breathing exercises. Love you folks, thank you.
I was on the hiker bus and we came across a few hikers on the road. Even though they didn't flag us down, the bus driver stopped and and insisted they board the bus. Why? Not more than 50 yards away, was a momma brown bear and her two cubs, and the hikers had no clue they were there because their line of sight was obstructed by the terrain.
You guys are incredibly brave blazing a trail through that brush. I’ve seen other UA-cam folks that overland that didn’t even get out of their vehicle in Alaska. But yeah, making a ton of noises and bear spray, you’ll be fine. Excellent adventure guys! Can’t wait for the next one
Driving in Alaska is amazing on its own, but we have been having the best time hiking and getting out of the van. So pumped to share what all we have been up to!
This brought back so many memories. I backpacked for 10 days and spent some of my time camped at Wonder Lake Campground. The day the sun came out and I got to see Denali was amazing and I can still vividly see it in my memory. Your video was amazing, thanks for sharing.
I’m thankful for you’re trip to meet , Jenn and Elliot. This is how I discovered this channel. These videos reminds me a little of the movie, into the wild… Thanks!
Thank you for another episode helping me relive my past trip! I loved how you merged all the scenery with music that sounds like early '90s alternative. It fits very well, and I couldn't imagine it done better. I was on the fence about hiking out to the landslide, but I did, and this video affirms that decision! It was cool when I saw the bus pull away and I thought, 'I'm out in the Denali wilderness on my own!' However, by July 8, there were no caribou and in fact, the bus drivers were talking about how the wildlife sightings had grown sparse. The forest fires near Fairbanks were ongoing, and (like you hinted at) no fires were allowed in the park. A shuttle driver I had between Kennecott and McCarthy (I know... different park... but they all talk to each other, right?) mentioned that there were some plans to build a bridge around the landslide by the summer of 2024, but I'm still scratching my head about that.
Thanks, James! Denali was so amazing. We didn't see a ton of wildlife either. Thankfully the park wasn't affected by the wildfire smoke when we were there! I sure hope they build that bridge. Our bus driver said it didn't seem like they were going to be making any moves on it anytime soon.
Got so excited for you guys going to Denali! Totally understood what you were saying about daunting, it is so BIG there and vast. I drove around with a gaping mouth a lot!
I hadn’t heard about the back half of the park being closed due to the landslide. In 2010 three of us did a 2 week self supported bicycle trip in Alaska. We rode Denali park back to Wonder Lake and camped there for a couple of days. Our first morning at Wonder Lake we were treated to the whole Denali range coming out of the clouds. The camp hostess told us it was only the second time that Summer that had happened. We felt so lucky! The scenery is something that you just can’t describe with justice. The pictures I took are great but still can’t capture the incredible beauty of the park. We saw Grizzlies 3 times from a distance and we even watched the indigenous wolf pack through binoculars down on one of the river beds. Of all my bike trips Denali is my favorite! Your video brought back a lot of memories. Thanks!
Awesome! We're super excited for you! Check out our website as well. We have tons of Alaska resources that may help your planning: adventuresofaplusk.com/alaska/
You are both we very brave to do off trail hiking!! Something that we never did!! Another fantastic video--so beautiful!! Thanks again for letting us tag along!!
I just started to detail prep for my Denali trip next week and found this. It’s 7min in and I’m a huge fan already, I can’t wait to watch all your videos.
That off trail hike was so diverse! I agree walking off the obvious path didn't make sense to me either. I'm glad you two and sweet Kona are having such a wonderful time!!!
I thought I was a little sad that we didn't see your videos before our trip but I think it has been much more fun watching you now that we are back home and I get to see Denali again through your happy youthful eyes. Looking forward to the rest of your trip. Have fun and keep on enjoying your life.
I loved Denali when I was there, but only had one day. I did a great hike on a trail at the front of the park - the weather was pouring rain, but the scenery was incredible. I will be back!
Alaska has so much to offer. Lucky enough to have been there two times. Once with the Army and another on a motorcycle trip. Really enjoy your channel. Safe travels and greetings from Florida.
I’m glad I found your channel. I was at Tek #16 May 20-May 29 with heavy snow pack. Only 1 loop was open, plowed, though still very messy with nightly freeze of the days melt. I enjoyed hikes at Savage River, the 2 mile loop trail out to a footbridge that crossed the river…which was more like a creek at that point. Also hiked the Savage River Alpine trail which was fabulous. Ive been in Soldotna since June 1 and will be back at Denali for another 5 night stay before beginning the drive back to Seattle.
Yep build up your endurance Kona we’ll be sled dogs in no time 😉 if that doesn’t work out for you naps with mom and dad are still the best! Denali is stunning 🤩 the views are so diverse it’s crazy that it’s all the same area
You guys lucked out with mosquitos. Some tears are really awesome, but most years are definitely bug dope/mosquito net years. I'm so happy you guys had a mild year!
What a beautiful park! The Rocky areas were so cool. I loved your song while going through the brush…it would be a bit unnerving to go through that not knowing what else might be in there! I am loving Alaska!
Hi my lovely travelers, hope you guy's are having the best day ever, is been a while without watching UA-cam but im back busy busy have a wonderful trip love you guy's
We were there last year. One week after the landslide. Enjoyed the pictures of the Doll Sheep. We saw 5 but they were on the top of a ridge from a distance. Thanks for the close ups. I enjoyed them ☺️.
I remember this route from summer 1971, when I and 3 college friends went off trail wilderness hiking further into Denali for two weeks as part of a 3-month Alaskan adventure. Nothing was in organized in those days - certainly there was no bus service and we encountered no other hikers, but we did see lots of bears in the distance. The first small ranger station at the park entrance seems familiar.
It’s so nice to see Savage River station in your video again (I watched your first video right after you posted it) after coming back from our Alaska trip. We spent three nights in Denali towards the end of July. I loved all of our four days there with different weather conditions every day. It’s so cool to see Dall Sheep in your video. We were only able to see white dots moving fast on top of mountain. If they didn’t move, we probably would not know those were sheep. Thank you so much for the information on your first Denali video! We hiked the two Savage River trails that you showed us in your first video. 😄
The weather sure is quite variable all across the state! You have to be prepared for anything. We felt lucky to see those Dall sheep so close! Thank you and thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for posting this video. I am in the process of planning my trip to Alaska in the summer of 2024 and wanted to see what others have done in Denali NP and you both did a great job showcasing this amazing landscape. I love the dog and the meals look fantastic and that hike looked amazing. Cheers and I appreciate your content on Denali NP. Got yourself a new subscriber. I know recording this adventure is lots of work. I bicycle tour all over the world and refuse to get into filming like this because it is tremendous work My compliments to you both. Cheers.
Thank you so much! We just purchased some bikes and will be getting into some bikepacking in 2024! Can't wait to create content around it! You are right though, it is a ton of work and it's not for everyone. We love what we do, but we'd be lying if we said it never took away from the moment so props to you. Thanks and thanks for watching! Ps we also have lots of Denali content on our website if you need more resources for planning!
Love from Ontario, Canada! We saw this video within 15 minutes of its coming out on our TV's youtube feature. Interesting facts to know about this huge park - we were amazed to see the bus service and fast food restaurants within the park. There are no such things in the parks of Ontario, Quebec, and farther east. We are not sure about the parks to our west though. We like your videos because they are informative, fun oriented just the right duration of time. Thank you for putting so much of hard work into video making.
Thank you so much! We're glad you like them and that means a lot to us! The fast food and shops were just outside the park, but very close! Thanks for watching!
Great advice/information, as always. I'm leaving Vadez soon for Denali, having been to Coffee Co, Nat Shack & The Potato. Yum. Thanks for blazing the trail.
Looks like a lot of fun. I can see how it must feel wrong to be told to walk on the tundra and not the trail. You saw a lot more wildlife than we did (to be fair we did see several bears). I hope your travels take you to Katmai and Brooks Falls as well as Seward and Kenai Fjords.
So jealous you saw bears! We wish we could do Katmai, but it’s too out of our budget this trip and logistically too hard with Kona. But we will be returning for the 5 parks we miss this time someday!
Hey Adam and Kathryn....We were out in Sacramento visiting our Son and his Wife Amber for the past few weeks, soooo we are catching up on all your videos....You guys videos are amazing with excellent sound tracks and commentary and content....Just finished Denali video and what views!!!Have been following you guys since Austin....Will be waitng patiently for your next adventure!!!!From Hank and Pam of South Texas!!!
Thank you both for watching! We’re having a blast out here and are excited to share what we’ve been up to! We hope y’all had a fun trip with your family
Thanks for sharing your experience in denali. We were there in July this year also stayed at teklanikia camp and did similar things to you. We went off trail around the landslide area and climbed up a random mountain it was cool also did some packrafting on the tek River was awesome. It is hard to capture such an amazing place but you did a great job.
Yay A+K+K! Another great vid! I’m with you Kathryn on the walking on the tundra advice! Seems counterintuitive. Kona is so cute. I love her morning sleepy look. Maybe she needs some coffee too 😉
It’s so confusing to the brain to hike on it! We triple checked with a ranger to make sure we didn’t misread haha. Kona definitely would be extra crazy with caffeine!
Thanks for that awesome vicarious hike. My hubby can't hike. So we just had to stay close to the road and campground. I'm excited to watch your other videos from the start😁
Great Denali video. Quick tip because I heard someone say you could only take a cold shower. I live in Hawaii where there is only cold water showers at camp sites. Brrr for me. I assume you can boil water. I use a NEMO Helio shower. Boil about a gallon of water. Put a gallon of cold in the NEMO, then add hot water - adjust by adding cold or hot water to desired temp. Not luxurious but functional and better than enduring an Alaska shower. Hey, your puppy’s name is Kona! Aloha!
OMG....that is so beautiful 😍 what a wonderful time ya'll must have had staying in the campground. This park is still on our list, I hope one day we can make it there. So happy to watch the videos you two are putting out there for everyone!
We enjoyed that trip/ saw 7 brown bear from the bus, Also some mountain rams. Not sure thats what you call them.. But that bus tour thru the park is amazing !
Hello Adventurers😊😊😊, This was awesome checking out the cool spots in Denali. I especially loved the sheep's. However, y'all once again eating delicious food without me. OUTSTANDING VIDEO.👍👍👍👍👍👍
my advice to tourists is drive your vehicle to within the 15miles of the DENALI PARK ROAD. park in one of the many turnouts and parking areas and catch a transit bus headed in. we booked a 1030 transit ride in and it was unecessary because the transit busses stop for anyone wanting a ride if they have room. wait times of well under 30mins common. we went in june 2023
WOW!!!! First of all this vlog was totally EPIC!!! Also thank you so much for shooting and uploading these in 4K. I finally got a new large 4K tv...this was the first vlog I watched on it! 🤩😮 I literally freaked out during the intro seeing your content on such a large 4k screen for the first time! Your epic vlogs just became even more EPIC!!! I love the wildlife you're seeing in addition to the views that never end! I'm so ready to hop on a plane to Alaska...my Alaska fever has hit an all time high! The campground looks amazing and the food you're cooking up looks really good! Kona is living her best life. I'm so proud of you guys for the off trail hiking! Go Adam & Katherine! I can't wait till the next vlog drops! 😁😆
Oooooo that is so awesome! We're glad the 4K shines through! Alaska fever! It's a real thing! Kona is loving it out here too! She's wiped from all the hiking! 😂
I am loving seeing Alaska through your videos. Makes me want to visit even more and do some of these hikes myself. Though, our truck may be able to make the journey from Ontario, I don't know about our little travel trailer on some of those roads!
The roads have been in very good condition in our opinion (other than the road right before and after crossing into Alaska). We hope y'all can make it up here! Thanks for watching!
That brush you hiked 🚶♀️ 🚶♂️ through to get to that mountain ridge was scary 😨 I was singing the don't bother me bear song right along with Katherine...🤣🤣 The herd of 22 mountain 🐑 🐏 🐑 sheep were your reward 😉
Thank you so so much !!! Very detailed description. LOTs of useful information! Special thank you for your web description and AllTrails recording! Going to replicate this one in the summer -)
That is awesome to hear! Check out our website also. We have several guides for Denali that might help your planning as well! Thanks and thanks for watching!
The three night rule at Tek is correct if you drive. If you get a bus there and tent camp, you can stay a single night if you wish. AFAIK the Camper Bus ticket works similarly to the Tek Pass - both let you do multiple journeys, including east as long as you don't go past Savage River. I think they cost the same too.
Amazing. I was just there in September. I wanted to stay at Teklanika campground but it was booked. Looks great. Did some off trail backpacking right there at the East Fork of the Toklat instead. Can’t wait to go back. Great video!
If you are coming back thru Alberta there is some stunning free camping at Abraham Lake, not far off the Icefields Parkway. Also some great camping & hikes in Kananaskis. One of my faves is interlakes Campground which is fcfs & is technically in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park. Cheers!
We had planned on going that way, but got sick recently and had to change our plans unfortunately. We’ve been to Banff before and loved it! Can’t wait to go back and see Jasper and your recommendations! Thanks!
Absolutely amazing. I hope to visit Alaska some day but until then I'm enjoying your videos. One of my sons and his girlfriend worked a summer season at Kantishna Roadhouse and loved it. I believe it is at the end of the park road and I read their guests this year are arriving via helicopter because of the landslide. Looking forward to more of your adventures.
That hiking looks awesome. I couldn’t get used to it being still light at 10 at night when I was up there last. One thing I did was to get the large mosquitos and tape one on postcards I would send, I got more comments about that and it was the smaller ones which drove you nuts.
We have been to them before, many years ago, and they are amazing! Unfortunately due to us getting COVID here and losing a bunch of time and a tight deadline back to the lower 48 for various commitments we can’t swing it this time. We will save a return visit for when we can spend lots of time and not rush it!
So beautiful! Yes, your videos are very helpful!!!!! Can't wait to visit Alaska. The plane was flying so low, you could have hitched a ride back to your van...lol.
LOL re: smelliness! When boondocking we buy the no-rinse body wash (Walmart has a big bottle) and put a capful in small spray bottle with water that can be use with a paper towel to keep ourselves from offending each other in van. Because it's concentrated formula it lasts forever so is more economical than using baby wipes and works well for us.
I got a little nervous for you when the fog started to roll in, wondering if you could see your way back down. Absolutely gorgeous footage, thanks for taking us along
Loved the banter with the park rangers when you went back for the 2nd time and you were acing their quiz 🤣 Absolutely loved your shots of the wildlife throughout this video. Really chuffed for you guys that you did the off trail hike - and didn't get lost and enjoyed it! The idea is scary to me too. We did one in Iceland a few years ago, but didn't stray too far from where we parked our rental car and then got caught out in an epic hail and snow storm (at the start of May!) so our 1 and only experience hasn't helped matters! The sheep up there look nothing like the sheep in the UK - I'd have guessed they were goats had you not said what they were.
That park ranger was so nice and funny! The off trail hike was very fun! The part through the brush was a slog, but it was over quick enough! Once you get above that and start to have sweeping views it was golden from there! And then the sheep were the cherry on top!
So enjoyed this video and it was good to see you two taking a nap and resting. You both must be worn out at times. The food you cooked on the fire Adam looked so good! Your antics make me laugh. The green bus was a nice bonus on this trip. Stay safe! Lots of love from Oxfordshire UK 🇬🇧 although I’m from Texas. 😂. 🥰

We missed your wonderful comments, Cesar! We’re glad you’re back!
Thanks again for sharing your awesome adventure! Looking forward to what's ahead. Amazing scenery and great videography!😀
Thanks, Lynn!
We were there last year. One week after the landslide. Enjoyed the pictures of the Doll Sheep. We saw 5 but they were on the top of a ridge from a distance. Thanks for the close ups. I enjoyed them ☺️.
Oh wow! That’s a bummer y’all missed the rest of the park by a week.
Wow that must be a memorable trip! Thanks for watching!
I haven’t been to Alaska yet, but for now watching your trip will tide me over until I get there👏❤️👍😄🐾
We can’t wait to share what else we have been up to, it has been incredible here and we hope you can visit someday!
Loved your video!! which campground would you stay if you doit again? Savage or Teklanika campground?
Thank you!
We really enjoyed Teklanika and would stay again! Haven't stayed at Savage so don't have an opinion on it
thank you!!

Absolutely amazing scenery; I’m so glad you took me along😎😎😎😎😎😎👌👌👌👍👍👍
Thanks for coming along for the ride! 🤙
Love watching your videos!
Thank you for watching!
Great video. Such amazingly beautiful scenery! Bless you on your way.
Thanks, Chris!
@@AdventuresofAplusK thank you so much again and I will take a look at your website. Cheers...
It looked like an Alaskan Stonehenge. Thank you for sharing.
Great advice/information, as
always.
Loved the video guys! Thanks for showing us what is able to be seen during this time!
So glad you enjoyed it!
New to your videos, but loving them. Been binging the last few days during my Covid isolation. Thanks for helping me pass the time!
Thank you so much for watching! We just got out of our own COVID quarantine, so we know the feeling. Hope you’re feeling okay!
That sounds like an awesome experience! We're glad you had such a great time. Thank you and thanks for watching!
Super fun video - getting off of the beaten path would be kind of scary but so exciting at the same time!!😍
It was a little unnerving, but luckily the brush was a short segment!
Denali is so awesome! Thanks for watching! We’re glad you enjoyed!
Aloha!
Thanks for the tip! Kona gets her name from our love of Hawaii and coffee! Thanks! Aloha!
OMG....that is so beautiful 😍 what a wonderful time ya'll must have had staying in the campground. This park is still on our list, I hope one day we can make it there. So happy to watch the videos you two are putting out there for everyone!
Denali was so amazing and that campground was very peaceful!
Good trip, staying safe while showing the mountain scenery and food. There are mosquitos nets and spray; hate those vamps.
Thankfully the mosquitos haven't been anywhere near as bad as they were made out to be before we came!
Awesome video. We have been loving your Journey to Alaska videos and now the Adventures in Alaska. Hope to go there one day.
Thanks, Sam!
We enjoyed that trip/ saw 7 brown bear from the bus, Also some mountain rams. Not sure thats what you call them.. But that bus tour thru the park is amazing !
Dang! That's awesome! You saw more than we did!
Yall are amazing and loved the video!! The views are Absolutely Beautiful and love the Wildlife. Thanks for another amazing video.Be safe my friends.
So happy you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!
Hello Adventurers😊😊😊, This was awesome checking out the cool spots in Denali. I especially loved the sheep's. However, y'all once again eating delicious food without me. OUTSTANDING VIDEO.👍👍👍👍👍👍
Denali was such a blast! You better hurry...we're going to gobble up all the yummy food!
The scenery looks very familiar…sorry the road was closed, but still is a fantastic park to visit!! Nice work to you both!
It definitely is still worth a visit! More reason to go back!
my advice to tourists is drive your vehicle to within the 15miles of the DENALI PARK ROAD. park in one of the many turnouts and parking areas and catch a transit bus headed in. we booked a 1030 transit ride in and it was unecessary because the transit busses stop for anyone wanting a ride if they have room. wait times of well under 30mins common. we went in june 2023
Another great episode! Thanks
Thanks... The videos are helpful in planning. Until next time... Travel safe.
Thank you, we are glad!
We were on edge a little bit going through that brush! The sheep were amazing to see!
We did the bus trip several years ago . We saw at least 10 grizzly bears on our trip , some we’re walking right down the road .
Wow! Lucky!
Thanks for sharing and watching!
What great hikes! We were always told to wear bells in bear country but singing works too unless they like your singing and want to come hear. lol
Hahahah they definitely wouldn’t like the singing! 🤪 We have heard that human voices work the best, but any noise is good!
Just beautiful! I love it!
😍😍
Amazing. I was just there in September. I wanted to stay at Teklanika campground but it was booked. Looks great. Did some off trail backpacking right there at the East Fork of the Toklat instead. Can’t wait to go back. Great video!
It’s such an amazing place! Thanks for watching!
Great song Katherine for scaring off the bears👏🏻👏🏻
If you are coming back thru Alberta there is some stunning free camping at Abraham Lake, not far off the Icefields Parkway.
Also some great camping & hikes in Kananaskis. One of my faves is interlakes Campground which is fcfs & is technically in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park.
Cheers!
We had planned on going that way, but got sick recently and had to change our plans unfortunately. We’ve been to Banff before and loved it! Can’t wait to go back and see Jasper and your recommendations! Thanks!
@@AdventuresofAplusK hope all is well, take care.
The video is wonderful as always. so pretty in Alaska
Thanks, William!
Another one of your videos we enjoyed!
Woohoo! Thanks for watching!
What a cool gig!!! It would be fun to live in a remote setting like that for a bit!
That hiking looks awesome. I couldn’t get used to it being still light at 10 at night when I was up there last. One thing I did was to get the large mosquitos and tape one on postcards I would send, I got more comments about that and it was the smaller ones which drove you nuts.
Hahaha that’s funny you sent them! And it has been an adjustment with the daylight. Thankfully it has been getting darker!
Stunning views! You really made the most of your time and were so brave to venture off trail! Excellent video always love the bloops too! ~Cara 😊
So happy we went off trail! Was a huge highlight!
Thanks for sharing your videos .
Great video guys! Denali is a beautiful place and one I hope to visit!❤❤
It really is! Thanks!
You guys need to stop by Banff, Jasper, and Yoho national Park in Canada on the way back to the US. These are one of the best scenes in the world!
We have been to them before, many years ago, and they are amazing! Unfortunately due to us getting COVID here and losing a bunch of time and a tight deadline back to the lower 48 for various commitments we can’t swing it this time. We will save a return visit for when we can spend lots of time and not rush it!
Love your videos! I just went a month earlier camping in Savage but your views were so much greener!
We were surprised that areas were green despite being there a bit early in the season!
So beautiful! Yes, your videos are very helpful!!!!! Can't wait to visit Alaska. The plane was flying so low, you could have hitched a ride back to your van...lol.
The planes were so crazy to see!
And, now I'm craving brussel sprouts. Thanks! lol
That's not something you hear everyday! We love brussel sprouts too though! We miss oven roasted ones!
Good idea!
So fun!! Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!
I got a little nervous for you when the fog started to roll in, wondering if you could see your way back down. Absolutely gorgeous footage, thanks for taking us along
We are thankful it was coming in and out so quickly that we never were fully socked in!
We are pretty worn out all of the time haha, so this was a nice break!
