Trip to the mall: 15 minutes
Add traffic: 2 hours
Really thats soo bad!
josephine vargas Lol, when you had to move from the city to a famous country town...you couldn't care less
Do people use bikes or walk?
What about motorcycles ? is too dangerous to drive one in LA ?
Igor Rosales you can even join an illegal bike racing crew.. if it’s not dangerous is no fun.
as a Californian from san diego who has fam and friends from LA.. my best advice is if you wanna step up to the majors, welcome to LA. LA is an open liberal town. but also a fast pace town. You also have to hustle and be 5-10x ahead of your money, bills and plans! you're competing against alot of people for 1 job. it's like they say.. it's hard to move in to the big leagues but it's harder to even stay in there. if you're the type that likes calm conservative and peace.. come live next door to LA, San Diego. :) God bless you all and happy Sunday.
Yeah, that's what I want. The San Diego version.
God bless you too my friend
LA traffic slowly kills you..
Chris Orioli Medina 101 I'd say it's killing me pretty damn fast haha
The 110 freeway is horrible even during the weekends. That damn carpool pass ruined it.
@@demilieu Very true
I've lived here all my life and it hasn't hurt me any.
Thank you
Don’t drive on the 405 dude, tip:take the small streets you’ll get there faster.. 👌🏽
I did that everyday during rush hours and it didn't make a difference. Traffic is traffic.
I could care less about the weather, or how "expensive" it is, i still want to move there.
I'm from the worst parts of new york city, I plan on saying the same thing.
Me too, cause I love Burbank.
+august moon new york is beyond affordable and it just sucks now...all the creative types in NYC are moving out
Please don't...we are tired of transplants. This is a message from original Angelenos!
august moon yes please do come
Moved here two months ago from Maine.... Small town. This is spot on! Met some amazing people, some great food. I plan on making this a life time move.
bpendz.tv AWESOME! My step dad (RIP) was from Bangor!
Joe's Daily I live in Bangor
+K Will yeah a community of douchebags
please go back
@K Will transplants have ruined this place
I'm moving here alone In a year and this helped so much, thanks!!
You'll do just fine! Good luck with the move :)
How did the move go?
Alyssa, yes, how did your move go?
???
Update?
I actually miss Los Angeles. I had a really good thing going and I lost sight of what it was I was there to do. I hope I get another chance to come back. I’m a much more humble individual now.
Everyone thinks Florida has nice weather all the time too, but in the summer it literally rains & thunderstorms every single afternoon.
I've visited Florida quite a bit, and can totally relate.
That is one of the reasons I want to move to California lol
I know, not to mention when it's not raining, it's hot as hell. Like the fire of ten-thousand suns burning down straight on you. Even walking to your car is a pain in the ass. And hurricane season...Yes, I live here too, South Florida.
Ahmeenah69 I still prefer south Florida or California over the rest of the country
Noot I am with you ! It’s why I’m still here ! But going to move soon-to Southern California ! (I’m from there)
You might have noticed I've been away from UA-cam for a bit. Starting to stream on Mixer/Twitch almost daily. Go give me a follow over there:
mixer.com/joesdailygames
www.twitch.tv/joesdailygames
I hate the smog here 😑 I love that it rains only once in a while. I was born and raised in LA and I still love it here. I love it when it's cold here though.
josephine vargas How cold does it get in LA?
@@Dani_1012 It never snows. only in the mountains, that is you travel. When it rains, its pure rain, not to hard or not too soft. By a week later, there is going to be a sunny-cloudy day. ☀️.
Dani Du_Soleil 40 is the coldest I felt from 1989 to 2012
I'm moving to L.A. in 2 weeks to chase my dream.
Sorry for the late response. That's awesome! You'll do great, just never give up. I'm living my version of a dream career. Make yours!!!
Luckie Libra28 I'm curious, how has it been for you so far?
How was your first year?
Luckie Libra28 Update us please
Bitch, you probably ran back to the Podunk town you came from. LA eats people up. I was born and raised here, people from outside can't always handle it.
Not everyone is works in the "business" here.... My family have lived her for generations and none of them worked in entertainment. Accountants, delivery drivers, doctor's offices managers, real estate agents, etc. That's such a generalization of this truly diverse city....
+Ashleigh Ayala But generalizations are fun! JK I know this, but you sorta made my point. You are FROM there, and I was mostly commenting on transplants, which make up quite a bit of the city. You can't deny that most people that travel to LA aren't looking to make it in the "biz" in some shape or form.
+Joe's Daily No, I agree with you on that. I find it admirable that people pick up and move their entire lives, chasing their dreams. I'm too much a creature of comfort to be that brave. Good on ya'll! But if transplants only stick to certain parts of LA (hollywood, weho, sherman oaks), they will probably only end up meeting other "biz" people. But go to a random dive bar, book store, or just a different part of town and you will meet a shit ton of different people with different backrounds. My advice for transplants is explore! You'll be surprised what/who you may find. Thanks for the reply Joe and keep up the good work! :)
Ashleigh Ayala yes, absolutely nail on head. Good job.
Ashleigh Ayala I think he’s more likely just saying that if you live in L.A your highly likely to know someone that works in the business
A lot of the youtubers posting about LA are the west hollywood or venice hipsters and give an extremely narrow view of LA
LA has a special place in my heart.I don’t care about the traffic,I don’t care about the hot weather,it just hypes me so much
I live in Phoenix ...we often go to CA in summer to get out of the heat. Crazy when locals there ask us if we came to tourist in CA for the warm weather....to us phoenicians....CA is chilly!
5 things to know about LA: 1) The locals hate the transplants. 2) Don't expect to get a high paying job in LA. 3) Your rent will be like half your monthly income 4) Traffic slowly kills you as your ass gets bigger. 5) You'll come to be discovered and live long enough to become an UBER driver.
I love the idea of moving to LA, mostly for the weather, networking and business. I've actually been talking about moving there with a friend in a few years. I already hate driving though and I feel like I'd never leave my apartment unless my destination is in walking distance
please don't
I currently live in Sweden, so I don't think I will complain about the weather when I move there xd
Haha same! I'm in Scotland so I do t think it's as bad a Sweden. We haven't had proper snow for a while. We'll get it for like three days and then the rest of winter it rains 😞
Move to Burbank or Glendale ! both beautiful , safe cities.. lots of shopping too
sun valley, North hollywood,Ventura, paicoma, San Fernando, Sylmar
bruh don't chose to live in Pacoima as a starter neighborhood when coming to l.a, please do not. I recommend Burbank, north Hollywood, Glendale, and maybe Sylmar. not so much San Fernando either.. I live in Pacoima by the way so I know how it is.
whats wrong with Pacoima?
Karun Chendrimada gangs
Hey man, I'm moving to LA soon, maybe once there we can meet to hang around, cheers man
Last year I had visited California for the first time. Immediately I felt in love 😍 with this place. In 2017 we are planning to visit this place again and pay more attention to Los Angeles and explore this beautiful place. But for me it is not enough, cause I would love to move to LA in future.Your video helped me out and dispel my doubts about it.
Thanks 🙏.
do not move here
"It's weather you don't want to go out in". If I move there I'll be coming from Scotland so I think almost everyday will be a nice day. Try doing a mile paper round in the snow then walking to school. It's even worse when it's bucketing for two or three days straight. Try the completely unpredictable weathere. In one week we might have 20°c (about 70°f) on Monday then on Wednesday it could be 8°c (probably 60°f I think) and the up to 15°c (I think it's 65°f) on Friday. It sucks
+W00shro0m_L003Tr Oww mate I feel ya. I'm coming from south germany, which is nice in the summer (June, Juli, August), but everything else is unpredictable.. It's the 4rd Dec right now and it's 12 °C but it can be April and 4 °C. Getting nice weather all year along is THE dream for europeans!
+Cees Haha! Wow you get 12c in December!? Extreme December weather for us is between -20c and 2c. Normally though it's between -5c and 5c. BTW it's spelt "July" instead of "Juli" but apart from that you can type in English very well! :)
Oops, was supposed to be July, but my autocorrect "corrected" it. Weather in Germany is so weird nowdays, it's crazy. One day blue sky and 12 °C and the other day you think the world goes down. Oh, and thanks! c:
+W00shro0m_L003Tr I'm Scottish as well mate, and fuck me moving to LA sounds way better than west Scotland
+ACrispyHobo Hahaha Ikr!?
It's very difficult to make friends in LA - that's what I would say from being here for 14years.
Wish he would do a vid on some of the best places to go eat in LA
+GawjusMaraa ...thanks for the video idea!
I'm glad I watched this video! A friend and I are planning on moving to LA in about 4 months and this video was very honest and informative. Definitely appreciate this
Great video man all true points! We’re from NY and the issue you called entitlement is here too, and it can be a positive in some ways too! It’s kind of nice that people are aggressive and fast moving because I’ve lived in states where people move slow with no sense of urgency or purpose and it’s maddening. I’d rather have a little aggression than passive or overly polite and mostly fake-kindness like I’m living on the Disney Channel. So I look forward to being in a familiar place when we move :) haha it’s nice to be around people who are real and alive! Big cities always have that atmosphere. Ya either love it or hate it!
Hey, Joe! Thanks for a grea video, hands shaking before moving to LA, but ppl like yourself really help and encourage! All the best!
Great idea for a video!
Lol.. Life is funny.. I'm from NYC trying to move to NH.. What a beautiful state.. I currently live in Vermont which is equally beautiful!
I NEED cold!! I’m trying to move from Chicago,I cannot do hot weather all of the time I won’t adapt, but need to move there for my career
Did you move?
As someone one who has never been to LA, I'd love a video about the different areas/suburbs/small cities that make up LA
Some people definitely thrive in LA. Its too crowded and dry for my liking.
Great video! :) I want to move to LA after high school so now I'm obsessed with videos like this! And I'm from Europe and it's snowing here for months so some rainy days.. pff no problem! :D
Hi, joe! I am considering moving to California in the future. This really helped me think about my plans and what to expect! Thank you.
Northern California is the place. With wine country, the Delta (boating and fishing), the Bay Area, and Silicon Valley, you can cancel out Southern California
I have lived most of my life in the suburbs of DC
Except for the weather, you could be describing DC
Our weather sucks more often than it's nice
Moving to LA next month for college. This video really helped affirm my thoughts. Hope to see you there
+HaylieLynnae Awesome! What college are you going to?
american musical and dramatic academy for acting!
@@HaylieLynnae hope you've gone back home by now
thank you so much! I love this video! i recently visited LA for the first time and the people who are trying to get ahead and won''t give you a second glance... i met a few of them and I made me re think if I wanted to move to LA, but now that I've been back home I am still planning to move and have re focused on what I want to do with my life!
+Kara Elaine Anyone can make it in LA. Just remember to keep goals, and keep pushing forward. Everything will work out :)
People telling you about what they do isn't negative, that's part of being social and trying to make friends...
This was so useful! I'm thinking about moving to LA for my second year at University from the UK and this makes me think! But I still want to move to LA haha!
No matter what L.A. is, it's still home! I can't imagine living anywhere else. Lol, so true about the traffic, you plan your day around the best time to get on the freeway.
In NYC we really don't care about what the next person is doing but you will have a problem if you pump in front of us. I'm new to your channel and I like it👍🏻
Thanks! and I couldn't agree more about NYC lol
In a few years I'm visiting LA for the first time. I've read the LAPD don't care if your purse gets stolen or if you get beat up. My mom told me if I'm scared for any reason to ask them where places are .
I wouldn't say they don't care, just know they have bigger fish to fry.
I would say just use your common sense.
Shout out to New Hampshire!!! I live in LA to I'm from Littleton New Hampshire!!
(Lives in Massachusetts along the New Hampshire border, thinking about moving to LA)
How's it been so far? Any harsh contrasts in social life compared to New England?
The drive in downtown LA was brutal. Not because of the traffic, but because of the other rude mannerisms from other drivers, possibly from LA locals. It was bad, but you gave to have thick skin to survive. Entitlement is the perfect word to describe the mindset in LA. Still, I ❤ LA
nice video, but you forgot cost living in L.A , rent , etc etc
+George Mauricio Those are a given. Everybody know that LA is expensive
Every major city is the same way
If you're coming from Australia, it's cheap. 1 Bedroom in Sydney city, $700 ... a week.
2 weeks in LA = £1500
UK where i live 2 weeks = £300😊😊😂
Logic Police it’s About 2000/month in decent areas
I would say 75% of the time the weather is nice. Don't live there, but go there frequently. I've been in each season. I was in LA Dec 2013 and it felt like I never left the midwest. It was 45 by day, 35 by eve and morning. I felt like doing a drive by on the Beach Boys for that shit. lol. Was there once in the summer where it barely reached 70 and needed a jacket by night while the rest of the country was in the 80s. Was there in the fall once and it rained 3 days straight. You all do have spurts where it is not what it should be.
I was born and raised in LA and still live here, summers are scorching HOT! July, August, and September can be waaaaay over 100 degrees. Traffic is only bad if you are going to LA from the east in the morning. I live near Pasadena and going away from LA in the morning is wonderful!!! In the evening, going to LA from the east is soooo easy. It just depends on where you live and where you are going. NOT as bad after you leave the west side. I was a teacher and my late fiancé was an attorney, we were NOT in the business. Most people aren't.
Great info and you're also a very good speaker.
+CoachCarroll thank you!
That's why I live in Long Beach.
I'm 14 and my family and I are thinking about moving there so that I may pursue a career in the entertainment industry (acting/screenplay). This was a very helpful video. Thank you, Joe. :)
Very cool! Hope to see big things from you, Matt.
I also want to become an actor :D
Have fun
omg same
i'm from Brazil and I simply love Los Angeles. I think it would be a lovely place to live in. I hope I can move to Los Angeles someday
I'm an LA native I don't mind people moving here just don't be racist. Also don't pay ridiculous prices for homes & outbid each other for a stupid house. That causes other house prices to rise to a ridiculous price and moves out some of the people who are actually from there. If you're going to move into a community you need to provide something for that community as well.
Plot twist: someone thinks that rainy/overcast weather is nice
Harrison Scott i do.
This is relatable. I identify.
I love the rain cuz we don’t get it a lot in central California lmao
I like rain
UK rain is the worst
I do
I plan on being in LA in January at some point. NOT to live but to work for a few weeks. There are more cons than pros to living in LA honestly but I do enjoy the place !
I went to LA in February from Massachusetts and coming from a blizzard to the nice 70 degree weather was absolutely fine lol
I've lived here 20 years and it's not 80% nice, it's 90% nice. And that's the only good thing I can say about LA.
go back to where you came from
Daniel Bradford where ? I don't see it
As soon as I can become an American Citizen, I'll be on the next flight to L.A..... But.. that's not easy...
AcidGlow so did you move?
AcidGlow Are you in Los Angeles yet?
lol
how about now?
AcidGlow I’m from L.A., it sucks but it’s also home.
Fantastic video Joe!
Man... Joe, this is great! You point out many of the things people need need NEED to know about Los Angeles! One adjunct though: parking is a bitch! :D
Dude, I could do a whole entire video on parking in LA haha
I dont think parking isnt worsr than new york city i live here and the worst
What are the best places to meet new people and make "friends"? I want to move so bad but i dont know anyone in La . Im scared of being all on my own. Thanks for the video btw!
Meetup.com is a great place to start. Joint their groups will have you meeting new people in no time! It's all about exploring new things with new people :)
stay where you are, we already have too many transplants
You should've mentioned that, with the amazing weather, one is gonna need a LOT of sunblock. Also, with the freeways, you should've mentioned the Metro. Their rail (and orange and silver line) lines cut traffic quite well.
Moved here two years ago and would not want to go elsewhere. Restaurants. Beaches. Bars, Nightlife, Spas, , Attractions, Weather what more can one want? LA is it. Lived in several other places and there is no Utopia but LA has more pros than cons. I will stay here! :)
You don't know how lucky you are with the weather. It can rain for almost the whole of the Winter in the UK.
I’m from New England and I want to move to LA
Great video man!! Keep it up!!! Greetings from new Jersey is freezing here :(
HOLA! I have family that still live in NJ. Represent! haha
Loved this video!! You were very informative and gave both positive and negative evenly !Best moving to LA video Ive seen that dosen't give me false hope or make me change my mind!!
Cool! I'm from New England as well, thinking of moving to New York or LA. I love car culture and want to be an engineer so might go for Cali. But New York is also very hip and has more opportunities mayb?
go for new York if you're coming from new England. i'm sure your experiences will be better there.
car culture plue engineer=Texas ?
New york is not good for car enthusiasts. He would probably have to sell the car because of space and rent costs
what interests me about California is that i could skateboard, snowboard, sand board, and surf in one day lol.. i would never get anything done lol
Love it joe, I'm plan on relocating to los angeles some time this year hopefully and I wanted know how are the people there in los angeles and the surrounding cities? Friendly, stuck up, ignorant etc.
Forget Starbucks, Asian doughnut shops!!
3ish hours to get to Las Vegas from LA??? For me it took 6 hours??
Kianna Brown I know right? I was like, it's at LEAST 5 hours, but more likely 6
Thanks Hun, this was great and I love your honesty
I moved to LA 4 months ago... not sure if I would recommend it to anyone.
IM FROM NEW HAMPSHIRE TOO! So good to hear from you!
I'm gonna love living in LA..........I'm from Cleveland............Nuff Said.
Honey Chiles Cleveland is trash so you can go anywhere. your expectations are nice and low:D
Never been to Cleveland but from what I hear about it from people who moved from there, it’s terrible. So yea a move to any other city would probably be a step up for you. Lol
You guys are wrong Cleveland is great
I was born, raised, and have lived my whole life in L.A.
What you say about "making plans depending on what time it is", has always been the thing my whole life. If you want to go out, you don't ask yourself or the other person what they're wearing, or what they want to eat, etc. NO.......you ask "what time is it right now?" or "what time should we be there?", because you have to plan every single thing around traffic. You're around Brentwood? Nice area.........I'm over in Westwood Village. Nice vid.
haha happy to hear from someone born and raised here!
I've gotten to the point where I'm used to living in big cities (London and New York) so I know what to expect. All the novelty of big cities has worn off for me and now I just want to get a good job in the industry that I work in (3D modeling). LA is probably the best city in the USA for that.
You sound like a straight up dude Joe, I appreciate the info shared. Stay up brother.
Thanks for the good advice, I'm from England and it's my dream to work on video editing/producing/UA-cam in LA. I'm not too sure exactly how to go about it as I have to move from the UK but this was great advice!
Did you move?
Traffic is only bad if you live far from your job. Not everyone is in the biz.. theres people who live and work everyday lives here and this review is biased because ur a youtuber. don;t listen to him.
I have two years of college left, but when I graduate I want to move to SoCal so bad it hurts. Problem is I have a family and I'm used to living in San Antonio where everything is dirt cheap. It seems impossible, and the more I research making the move the more discouraged I am. I am 42 now and I want to live the rest of my life there. Great video though.
Charlie I lived in San Antonio for a year, I thought it was beautiful and great for family. May I ask why you want to leave it so badly?
I'm thinking of living in LA currently in Seattle. What a great video! I hope you can do a follow up to this one because it sounds like there's so much more to say about LA. I'm sure you could easily come up with more interesting content.
Great video Joe.
The weather is the only reason I want to move there from New York...where it's gross for like 6 months. The "what do you do" thing is also pretty much how we talk here, too. And I've read that the prices are even better, as far as housing goes. Or, essentially the same number-wise, but there's more space there. I want weather and space and a beach. That's it. I mostly work from home, so as long as there's a grocery store and laundry available, it sounds pretty fantastic. Most importantly, how does the air smell?
Great video! I enjoyed it!
Tom Petty wrote a song about L.A., "Freefallin.'" I love that song That guitar string says everything you can't put into words.
Hey Joe, Im from New Hampshire too! and looking to move to LA as well!
What small city were u from if u don’t mind?
Great video! Very coherent and helpful, I was deciding between the bay area and LA for school and I think I've made my choice after this video!
killed it bro thanks for answering my question ! it should be a pretty cool transition to live out on the west coast !
I didn't like Los Angles at all when I visited, probably because my mom took us to all the touristy parts. However, Venice beach really stood out to me. It'd be nice to move there for a year and meet some cool people. Then come back to my forever home here in Florida.
true asking people what u do in Cali is like asking them do you have a job? where do u work? whats your work about? what do normally do in your life? what do you plan to do in the future? are you dating anyone? where r u from? its basically that and if u don't answer the questions...your may come off as a weirdo
Very well spoken!
Imo, summer is the worst time. It's too hot. But I was pretty much born here. Been jaded to alot of things including seeing stars. I lived in Chicago and got use to the cold weather. I love the winters here. Not too cold, not too hot. As for traffic, while west siders are mostly assed out(with exception of the expo line extention), people living more in the east and around the crntral part of the city canuse the metro.
~Good tips! Thanks for sharing!
+Yến P No problem. Thanks for watching!
The 405 is basically a parking lot
1 bedroom apt anywhere in southern california start at $1,500( usually in places that are far from l.a.) and go up . The closer to the beach you are.... the more it goes up... Traffic is really bad....7 days a week and from 5am till 9pm . The only time freeways are clear is from 9pm till 5am. Gas is the most expensive in all the nation. The registration for your plates are the highest in the nation. Plus you need to get your car smogged every 2 years ....wether its gas or diesel. Parking is also hard to find .
I don't live in LA but I think it'll be a lot batter if you use a motorcycle for your transportation rather than a car!!line splitting is legal in LA so traffic will be a lot easier to deal with!
specially of you live alon!
and plus,a bike is a lot cheaper than a car!
+PsychGamer 097 of course!
Why did this video get suggested to me a year and a half AFTER moving to L.A?
I'm loving it here, though. Got an apartment in Burbank, Work in NoHo, so my experience is so different. I haven't had to get on that awful 405 since moving here, I don't party, go to night clubs or bars, so I'm not really exposed to all those self important, fake people so many complain about. I work, I go to Disneyland and Universal Studios, annnnd... that's about it. I mean, you know, gotta' mix it up a little and go to Griffith Park and the L.A. Zoo, sometimes. Or Long Beach, with Aquarium of the Pacific then go have a cocktail on the Queen Mary. Exposition park is really nice to spend a leisurely day if you like science and history. My only problem is making friends here! Just like Ginny McQueen said. But it's not because of the type of people, but because of schedules and locations. I keep meeting cool people who live in kind of inconvenient areas to where I am; it's hard to just meet up with someone after work when they live in Torrance and I'm in Burbank!
hopefully soon you'll go back to where you came from
You got the leather jacket to show your LA side and the flat top cap for your New England side
i went in July and it was cloudy and kinda raining almost the whole time. But when i went in December it was sunny.
I'm coming to Southern Cal for college next year. Thanks for the info! It's going to be a huge adjustment!
