Most people who say weather is not a good enough reason to live someplace, have never lived in the amazing climate of Southern Cali.
Also the highest skin cancer mortality rate. I actually don't like sun that much.
@@i6power30 Actually that may decrease with age a lot of us under 40 like our sunscreen.
We also have beautiful sunsets.
@@kgal1298not to mention the highest state income tax rate yah mook.
Another major earthquake will change people's options swiftly. It's due every hundred years or so and it's long past the due date.
Some people aren’t impacted by weather, but I definitely am! Good weather just makes you feel more productive and more energized.
So true!
Then You need to learn how to except bad weather because it is out of our control !
I agree
@@beyondreamtime420 I’m not stupid. I expect that bad weather will happen and is always a possibility. Doesn’t mean I have to like it. But thanks for commenting. 🙄
@@marieneu264 ! You going to except it but not like it ??? Wast of energy, might of well like it and make the best of it better than dislike but except, brother
The weather is truly the best coming from someone who lived in TN. I was low key depressed with the very dark, dreary weather and my family home didn't get good lighting. Walking outside everyday in the sun and palm trees gives me a boost of serotonin everyday!!!
I'm in San Diego and the weather here is EXACTLY why I will never leave 😂 it makes me so much more productive and active
Loved this video. I was born and raised in California and left for 8 years and just moved back! You can’t beat the quality of life being close to family and friends. Plus the weather 😊
Man, I’ve been living in Texas for the better part of 12 years. Back and forth between Cali the first 4 years (college). Maybe it was the pandemic too, but I haven’t been traveling back and forth anymore, and I realize the negative effect it’s had on me emotionally. I’ve been trying to understand why and realize it’s because now I have almost zero California interaction. I visited family for thanksgiving recently, and the nostalgia and weather were amazing. I love me some Texas. Great life here I’ve built, but I can’t seem to shake that California itch. Sorry to information vomit on you haha
This is so relatable as someone who just moved back to California after 2 years in NYC!
California is the world's 5th largest economy (if it were its own country), so there must be something it's doing right. Anyway, California is expensive no doubt, but it has so much more to offer. You are literally hours away from world-class destinations: Yosemite/Sequoia/Joshua Tree National Parks, Lake Tahoe, Monterrey, Big Sur, Napa Valley, Carmel-By-The-Sea, Santa Barbara, Palm Springs, Solvang, Catalina Island, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, etc. You can live any type of lifestyle your heart desires..from beach life to city life, desert life or even mountain/country life. The Central Valley provides so much of America's produce, so you always get fruits and vegetables fresh! California also values innovation, it still attracts the most venture capital for start-ups in the nation. You have some of the best food in the country, due to its diverse ethnic cuisines. There's always something for everyone, from museums to theme parks, concerts to music festivals, comedy clubs to karaoke bars. California has pinetree forests and rugged mountains in Northern California, beautiful sandy beaches and serene desert landscapes in Southern California. The most powerful, populous, and progressive state in the union...it will always be the land of dreamers!
california has the benefit of geographical location... any place that is near the ocean is always at an advantage by default...
6th largest still 5th never happened india if forcast to move up past ca but they have 1.4billion people
@@josephaugello1527 Are people lining up to move to India? That's the main difference
@jasonkoroma4323 way to many people there. I would not move there. I would go to mexico, Italy, Spain, Portugal, costa rica, people say antigua guatemala
Shelby I’ve been following you for forever (since the high school diving and gym days) and I’m so happy to see you thriving!!! I can tell how happy you are to be back in California 💛💛 enjoy the new chapter!
Thank you!!! And thanks for following along since the diving and gym days 🥹
@@ShelbyChurchAloha Shelby I wanted to know if you could help us with reviewing our Aloha Earth apparel we will donate 30% of our proceeds to help the people of Lahaina and the animals as well
Amazing video as usual, Shelby! Bottom line is, you (like everyone else) are allowed to change your mind. At the time you left LA, you thought that was the best decision. Now, you think that moving back to LA is the best decision. Both decisions are simultaneously right 👍Sending you love and well-wishes for this new chapter
After you live in California where you have literally EVERYTHING at your disposal, it’s extremely difficult to live anywhere else.
Facts!
Truly, I currently have no desire moving anywhere else after only 2 years here lol
I feel like as long as you can afford it, go for it. So many people speaking negatively about California, but clearly they don’t have the same goals as the people who value living in California, especially Los Angeles.
😂😂 story of my life rn
I hope living in California gives you peace. Excited for your new blogs! The past blogs have been great but def have focused on the indecision of where to live and now that that’s settled I’m excited for us to get some new content! ❤️
Great video Shelby! SO SO happy that you're back! 😊 And looking forward to your fun future video ideas!
I have in-laws who moved from L.A. to Austin, Texas to avoid state income taxes and liberal politics. They came back within 2 years just as I predicted.
You seem so happy to be back! Looking forward to seeing what videos you have planned!
i love this. i can't wait for LA contents from Shelby. Starting from the socio economic in housing to fun and informative contents is just a beginning from her. I simply can't wait. What do you guys want from her LA videos?
Weather, Activities, Healthy lifestyle, Family. All excellent reasons and spot on. Good video.
I was born in Redondo, our weather and outdoor activities still take priority over the politics and other issues.
Your videos are always thought-provoking, in the best way. Thankyou! I'm a suburban Australian, so things are different here, but you raised some good points that help when I'm considering where I (and my hubby) want to be in 5-10 years.
Great points! Always appreciate the production value of your videos, they never cease to amaze me.
Yay, I’m really happy to see you in Cali and look forward to more videos with sunshine! NYC and Seattle are so dreary in the winter.
Shelby what a great video. I love how you gave the backstory on your vlog and how crisp and fresh you made this video. I hope you do a video on Getty museum and more of the beaches as in Laguna Beach. Again so happy for you!!!
Great video. I love your content, even though I'm old enough to be your mom, I love living vicariously through you. You inspire me in so many ways.
Same lol, I'm 62
I’m about to graduate by the end of this year and I’ve been wanting to move to LA since I was in high school. I went in 2019 and loved it and went back in May of this year and I still love it. It’s the only place I’ve ever been to that I feel at home. I plan to move as soon as I graduate. It’s nice to know many others are moving to or back to California
State is still loosing alot of people and accelerating it dropped another 400000 plus between July 1 2022 to june 30 of 2023 state has now dropped 1.2million don't let her mis information confuse you it's all over the news today. At this rate the state will loose 5 seats in congress in 2030
Hope you're a millionnaire if you ever want to buy a house
I have been following this moving series. Loving it ❤
I can’t imagine leaving this place, almost the same reasons as you. Welcome back! 😊
Hi Shelby!! I love it!! And i loved that 1st Apt too!! So glad youre back! A true California girl!! 🌴☀️🌊🏖️
I recently moved to Honolulu and I can relate! The perfect weather everyday makes it so much easier to live a healthy lifestyle and it’s just beautiful everywhere! 😊 Also would love to see a Hawaii video!
I absolutely love and agree with everything you said in this video. Los Angeles is such an amazing city! It’s so good to see a video shinning the light on the positive aspects of it. I 💜 LA!
I look forward to seeing you continue to expand your real estate portfolio!
Welcome back. We missed you. ❤
Welcome back! ❤
Hi! Welcome back! I moved to Santa Monica years ago and never looked back. I love Cali! And 10 million people in LA don’t seem to be leaving either!
I think your videos are going to do much better in terms of views living in LA. Excited to see a house reno project when you find the right property :)
Being around creators is a HUGE change and something I don't have yet. I can TOTALLY see why that's a reason you moved back. Because being around people who don't get it, and don't have their schedules open is the WORST.
Love your videos. Yes! LA is the best. Love it for so many reasons. So happy you are back!
Welcome back!🎉
Welcome Back! Love it here
thanks!! hope to see you soon!
I love watching your videos! Welcome back to CA!
I love it here in California. I moved here from Texas years ago & kick myself why we didn't move sooner. Yes, taxes are higher and the cost of living is higher than most areas, but there's a reason why it's higher...location location location.
I kid to friends outside of California and call it the "membership fee." The most desirable areas in the world are the most expensive. The California vibe, beach, mountains, desserts, and of course, weather make it an extremely desirable place to live. So much to do in the city or you can lose yourself in another part of California deep in nature. This is why I pay that "membership fee" to live here.
You couldn't pay me millions to be anywhere else. Welcome back!
Membership fee, cute.
Well, Texas suck (minus the politic) because it is mostly a desert.
Great video! I agree that videos do look better when it's sunny and I'm more likely to click on it if a video is brighter!
welcome backkkkkk 🎉
Welcome back!
Oh! I feel this so much. Currently living in the PNW and used to live in CA. Hope to get back there, soon. Glad this worked out for you.
When Shelby’s beaming & inspired (& living alone), I think we all win! 🎉
I'm so looking forward to watching California vlogs!😃❤
welcome back, love ya
Glad to have you back in Socal. Video look great btw with all the beautiful natural light California give look great on the video.
WOO! so excited to have you in LA now!!!
SO HAPPY YOU'RE BACK!! Yay
yay lets hang soon!!
Congrats and welcome back to SoCal! It will be fun watching local scenery in your upcoming videos. I've lived here all my life and sort of want to move but maybe you'll make it look more fun to stay. 🌴😎
I really thought you’d be moving to San Diego ! Welcome back to Sunny CA ☀️ I think it’s awesome you’re closer to your family and like minded individuals. Cheers all the way from San Diego, CA 🥂
one day san diego would be awesome to live in!!
Welcome Home Shelbs!!! LA missed you !!
thank you!! So good to be back!
Perfect video! Thank you for this! 🌟
I’ve lived in Upstate NY my entire life and always wanted to experience living in a warmer climate year round like Florida or Arizona - I never did and now that I’m married it probably won’t ever happen. Happy for you that you get the sun alllll the time! Love your vlogs and videos. ☺️
That's the saddest short story I've read in a while. 🥲
I live in California and it's awesome. The weather is everything.
Love this for you! I moved from LA to Philly last year and miss it every day. 😩
You’re so much happier already! For buying a fixer house, last week I visited my fam in LA who bought a $700k house/property in the Dodgers Stadium area, and they have views of the Hollywood sign and downtown skyline. They’ve totally renovated the house to a modern house…Walkable to cafes and restaurants etc. What do you think of that area?
Dodgers Stadium area is near gentrification of silverlake, highland park and atwater village area. Its on the edge of gentrification and a bit dodgy. Not the greatest or safest neighborhood, since it was kind of rundown, but has been rebuilt with new construction and renovations. These are definetely not a high ROI investment considering the price you are getting it at a premium and the interest rate at the current rate. but those that want to be part of the hipster crowd - its close. Schools aren't great either. I was born and raised in LA.
It's fairly nasty around there and I'd be careful. RV's and tents are all over and lots of shootings.
I'm from California, but live in Atlanta, so far so good for me. However, I do personally know alot of people whom moved to Atlanta, Miami and Orlando and are moving back to California.
Yes, downsouth is less regulation, cheaper housing and services, but sometimes that also means lesser pay, worse weather and less diversity.
LA could have cheaper housing but the city like many places across this country (not just LA) need to reform their zoning codes and stuff. They need to let developers build things and allow for more mixed use not just unaffordable and quite frankly unattractive cookie cutter single family houses. The solution to the housing crisis is as simple as supply and demand baby, ofc home prices are outrageous like what do people expect but we ramp up the supply & costs will go down but we need the right policies in place to do so and we need to stop bowing down to NIMBYs.
this comment reads like something you read from one of those clickbait titles and how little to no idea what you are talking about@@NiamDennegar
Diversity is why I left California.
Welcome back and I love SoCal weather plus better surf! 🏊♂️🏄♂️
Amazing video! Honestly owning a home rather than renting an apartment you overpay for is a great feeling. The weather in California can’t be beat either.
Constant sunshine can be tiring. Also California has the highest skin cancer mortality number. I prefer a place with more balanced climate, better for health and b better for studying.
@@i6power30 Lmao this is the most cope-driven take I've seen in a long time
@@StopThatSquirrel it's also in the earthquake zone. There is nothing good about California geography. It's just the American obsession with sunny weather made California desirable. People in the Asia and Africa hate too much sun
@@i6power30 Living in California is great, it's the crime, politics and business climate which are awful.
@@TeddyLeppard how can you say living is great if there is so much crime? I would get out of there I think most people living there because of high paying tech jobs. Otherwise there are much nicer climate elsewhere
Love this video and agree with the points you made!
Welcome back!!!!
Being an immigrant from Asia, i have the same motivation as you to be closer to my family and childhood friends. I have lived in the US for so long but if the economics allows I would move back in a heartbeat not because one place is better than the other but the people and the nostalgia are incredibly powerful.
So well said how you stated it boils down to whether a person values the quality of life and happiness you receive here in California more than the additional tax dollars you may pay! Great vid and welcome back, Shelby!
the way the weather and outdoors capability really sold me - from new jersey LOL and near nyc. I love good weather and the sun does amazing things for your health
Looking forward to a video about sunscreen usage :) Would be soooo helpful for creatives spending the days outside all the time!
Let's see what Graham has to say about this! Also I want to see more vids with "Peachy"!! Welcome home!
Every time I go somewhere else I’m so glad when I come back to OC California. The great weather makes a huge difference.
Thanks for sharing! I'm also heading back to CA-- NYC is nice but it's getting cold and I miss the sunshine.
wow this is kinda crazy. im literally moving to LA from Seattle in 2 days. I randomly searched "moving to LA" on youtube and your video was the first I clicked. im taking this as a good sign. :)
Weather and climate is a great deciding factor. Sunny days are always nice.
Welcome Back!
that ending shot! love!
so glad to have you back in my home state Shelby!! California is an incredible state and hard to beat especially with things like the weather, the nature, etc. Your points about LA too were spot on; I totally agree that since moving here, it's very easy to be a healthier version of yourself too. Based on the vlogs I've watched of your time already back, it seems like it's suiting you really well! let me know if you ever want to hang out since I also live in LA, and as always a big fan of your videos :)
I’m so happy that your happy in Cali ❤
Welcome back! Sure, real estate is expensive, but the equity you build here will outpace most of the rest of the country, and then you add the weather into the equation and it's more than worth the extra cost of entry
Everything you are saying is true!! We pay for this sunshine but in return a better quality of life..We are all so active and usually always feel like were on vacation. The ocean is beautiful and we can all drive to beautiful mountains in a short time . Plus like you said Palms Springs a great get away. I can tell you made the right decision good for you!
Back in the 80s I went to southern Calif for awhile and was amazed how healthy and beautiful everyone was. Grocery shopping, everywhere, people were good looking and fit moreso than any other state I've gone to.
Woah! That's over 30 years ago.
It’s ironic that the weather was gloomy on one of the days that you filmed. But I still completely understood your point. I totally don’t mind going to the beach or on a hike when it’s foggy. But I DO mind when it’s raining. There’s a huge difference between just gray skies, which we do get on the beach in California a lot, and actual rain, which we don’t.
I’m so happy for you, Shelby. I completely agree with your point about taxes. I’ve lived in high tax and low tax states. Right now I’m in Florida, but my auto insurance is three times what I paid in California two years ago with no claims. I think it’s fair for people to question how their tax dollars are being spent. I would imagine there’s waste at the federal, state and city level virtually everywhere. But running to a no income tax state isn’t going to result in immediate savings unless you’re wealthy. As you noted with Texas property taxes, there’s always something. I’m glad that you chose the place that’s best for you.
Car insurance has gone up alot hear to and homeowners insurance both states are a mess
And the excessive heat in Florida really drains your energy
Welcome back to the best place! I moved from Philadelphia to California a few years ago and now I can't see myself living anywhere else.
Love that you moved back! I used to live in LA, and miss it everyday!
After living in Atlanta for 4 years, I realized being around people you like is much better than saving a few dollars on taxes.
Welcome back! If I didn't live in LA I would live in a different country. 100% agree with all the reasons why you moved back.
I think your reasons make a lot of sense for you, congratulations!
we love you shelbers! welcome to culver city
I agree. Regarding taxes, really, it boils down to where you want to live. Sunshine vs clouds Carrie’s a lot of weight with me, too. Nice video Shelby!
Loved this!
Finally. Welcome back.
I understand the feeling, I was living in seattle area for a while (loved it) moved back to maine where im originally from to take care of some family business, but I just dont love it here in maine anymore and am planning on going back to seattle next year!
Good for you for doing what you want. Knowing exactly where you want to be and why. I'm in SW Washington. I love it, including the rain . however I'd like more sunny days so I could take advantage of the mountains around me.
It is always good to have a financial plan. I work with a professional planner and fixed-income strategist. I've come to realize that the key to amassing wealth lies in making sound investments.
Very true, people downplay planners role, until burnt by their mistakes. I remember just after my layoff early 2020 amidst covid outbreak, I needed to stay afloat, hence researched for license-fiduciary advisors. Thankfully, I came across someone of practical knowledge, and decades of experience, I liquidated 200k of 325k from my 401k it has yield nearly 1M after subsequent investments so far.
Could you kindly elaborate on the advisor's background and qualifications?'.
I just came across her web page, I went through her resume and I must say it was quite impressive. I reached out to her and I have booked a session with her`
It’s quite interesting how you guys coordinate your comments lmao
Love it! Welcome back ❤❤ come to the 818!
I just visited LA, and I was really worried bc the city get so much bad press. It was a dream come true! City life, nature, culture, the views, mountains, the beach, the theme parks... everything you would want in a single city! The only bad things that I've noticed is that everything is SO FAR and expensive, but it is 200% worth it!
Totally agree with the point that they always get you somewhere. For instance, in Florida there’s no income tax and people think it’s super cheap. But the sales tax here is like 8%. Sales tax! So on everything you buy! Some other not tax related things like insurance is also insanely expensive, it keeps going up and insurance companies are leaving the state because they just don’t want to insure here anymore. Meaning that the companies that stay are charging through the roof. Housing and rent prices here are some of the most unaffordable in the country when you compare it to the average incomes. Every single state has its pros and cons!
So true!!! Finally someone is saying that!
If you are a renter, Tampa and LA are comparable. And food is a little bit more expensive in Florida. Gas is cheaper in Florida. But there are so many more fun things to do in Los Angeles. 😊
@@dct4689okay… I live in Florida and my sales tax is 8% lmao. The state sales tax is not that high, but different counties/cities (not sure exactly which one does it) impose additional sales tax. So the actual amount varies throughout the state, I’m just saying how much it is for me
Shelby squad 🌟
Cool to live all over while you can! Welcome back!
Shelby I ❤ your both channels, can you do longer videos again plzzzzzzz. Always looking to see if you’ve put another video up thru the week xxx
Yep, agree 100% with you on this. I love California. The weather is a big factor. The overall vibe is a big factor. However, if you have a business, you can work around a lot of the taxes. Overall, life is just better in California and that should be more important than anything else since you have only one life. Well done.
Great vid as always! Really like all the outdoor footage you got!
I moved from Texas to Northern California 4 years ago and I don't miss Texas at all (weather is too hot out there). I still love California, it is a special place!
That’s awesome! Yea Texas summers are no joke 🥵
I live in Ireland (from California) and I struggle with the weather. I have gotten used to it, in a way. But I am waaaay less active esp during the winter months. We had rain everyday of July.... We want to move back to LA too but I hear so much craziness!! Would love to see more vlogs and which neighborhoods you recommend.
Your comment about liking to film outside and wanting to be in a place that had sun so much of the time made me laugh. So many bright sunny days was a big reason why the movie industry relocated from the East Coast to California right after the turn of the 1900s.
Shelby, I am so happy that you chose to move back! I am 100% in agreement with you. I love the sun. It makes me come alive. During my travels; when it's gloomy out I can't take it!
The lifestyle here is so healthy and exercising is so important.
I don't mind paying taxes for the sunshine and beaches! 😅🏖
Plus, having your family close is amazing! Your parents remind me of Travis Kelce's parents.(Of the K.C. Kings 🏈) Your mom is cool like Donna Kelce! Remembering how your dad helped with your Palm Springs AirBnB. He is amazing! And, I picture your dad being just like Mr. Kelce; who would go over and help his other son Jason, with his family! Just wanted to tell you that you are blessed! I had to throw in some sports! Love our Lakers too! 🏀 😅💜💛
May I ask which investments are good? I've been looking at a few different ones but want others' opinions as well
Thanks so much I was able to find her page and I already leave her a message
