I love your smile when you are doing your job. Easy to see that you love it and that you are so happy to get the plane and passengers on their way. Well done!
Hi Jessica, another great job with this A321 as usual. I never seen you moody even with this hard work. You love you job with passion. Kisses from Brazil.
I've been flying AA out of PHX a lot lately, and I have started looking out for you, so if you see some weirdo waving from the terminal or a plane, do not be alarmed! Love your videos!!
You can really notice the height difference from the A321 to the Boeing 737 after you mentioned that in your Sunday presentation. Thanks from Niagara, Ontario
Jesica, your sincere and beautiful smile makes me want to give the best hug that you ever have experienced in your life.❤😊 I wish the world had a lot more people like you.
Love the USA- what a great American gal ! so impressive the way this happy team go about their work- only in the USA...world's best customer service...by a million miles....
I like how the other ramp person walked the comm cord back to you instead of letting it snap back. Also, after that, I got the feeling I was facing the wrong way again on the train. The important thing is that you knew where you were going, so I didn't worry about anything. Nice video today.
would like to see your vehicule from outside to give me an idea, would it be possible? :) but ALWAYS a pleasure to watch your video lady and the ramp!!! TX again!! :D
Yes! You can kind of hear my thought process as I make some comments. I was going very slowly at the end of the push..because of how close it is to the terminal.
...I've always found it interesting that some people "get" all the geometry that goes into a good movement off a gate, while many simply don't. I retired from AA/US-HP/US/PS last year and still miss some of the fun stuff like moving airplanes. I hired in SFO in 1975 with PS and had to qualify on push-backs in my first week. Nice job with the push and the video! 😊
Oh wow! You have seen quite the change in aviation! So cool! And thank you for watching!! Pushes can be complicated! Today I sat with a trainer and trainee and it bright back all those memories of being so nervous when u first started 😁 I hope you are enjoying retirement 😊
I didn't do that with this video, but a few weeks ago, there was a video where I misread the title and was thinking bagels were going to be involved. Alas, no bagels and I can't recall which host's video it was nor what was the actual word.
What a great attitude and smile you have. Do the surface of the ramps slope down from the gates three degrees at PHX to make pushbacks easier with a downhill slope-?
@@ladyandtheramp As a suggestion, you could get a voice dictation recorder that has an external mic input. If there is room inside the earpiece of your headset, use a miniature "tie clip" (lavalier) microphone to pick up the intercom. I know it's a bit more work in the edit, but it would be easy to add the extra audio in as it is loosely synced - just need a good starting point. This way you have a separate track in case something confidential is recorded so you can mute it in post. If recording direct to your phone, you may have to mute the whole audio track - then we would miss the sound of those engines spooling up! 🙂
Typically in the plane, you cannot feel the movement that we are doing down below. My steering wheel is turning more, then what the actual aircraft movement is :)
Actually, I just got a finish my training for ramp agent for American Airlines. I’m really excited I’m glad that you put in some this online for us to have an idea what is like
From your vantage point on the tug, do you always have a clear sight picture of the where the mains are in relation to the line when you put the nose gear on it, or is it aircraft type specific? Thank you for the videos, always insightful and entertaining.
So…the Airbuses have higher clearance underneath the belly. I can see the main gear always. But on the Boeings (except for the 737 max) it is more challenging to see the main gear. They sit low. So often times I look at the tail of the aircraft to see if I am lined up correctly.
Thank you for sharing your workday with us....I think a look back at how you are trained to move these big jets would make a great story to tell.....You do a amazing job.....greetings from KPTK...❤
I always wear gloves…it is better grip. And keeps your hands cleaner. There is all types of oil, grease, dirt, etc…when working with all this heavy equipment. Sometimes, I think we smell like jet fuel when we come home! 😂 I try to change right when I come home 😁
It was…there are a lot of little nuances and different moving parts. Even talking to the pilot while doing the push had to be learned. Multi tasking 😁 Even now, after hundreds and hundreds of pushes…I want to always improve. Some days are great! And other days might be a little off…but I sure love it!
Another awesome pushback,I always wanted to do this at my airline however never got the opportunity to ride along on one,but now I can do this with you and I love it thank you.😊❤❤
My "destination" seems familiar to me. Can't imagine why... Perhaps it's because I was there less than 5 minutes ago?? Naw, couldn't be that... I'm going to start calling you Smiley McRamper...
Interesting to see all the movements you need to make to get the angles to push. From inside the plane, we don't have any idea all that is going on, just a smooth movement, hardly noticed.
Isn’t that interesting? I was just on a flight from DEN as a passenger last night and was trying to concentrate on feeling the movement of the push tug below as we were pushing back…but could barely notice it, even as I was trying to focus on it! 😂
PLEASE BE CAREFUL, PLEASE BE SAFE. GOD BLESS YOU❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Sometimes I do an “s” curve to set up the aircraft and tug at a better angle to pull forward. Or when we are close to the terminal…to pull the aircraft away from the terminal to create more space to set up the pull 😁
We can only drive the tug in reverse after releasing the tow bar from the aircraft. We have to reverse into the gate into the specified parking area, and then release the tow bar there.

Have you ever driven a towbarless tug? If so, how different is it? Easier/harder?
American Airlines (my employer) does not have the towbarless tugs at my airport.
the steering wheel does not have a horn button: did they steal it? 😁
😂
When you pushback, do you tell the pilot when to startup or does he already know when?
The push back operator (me) gives the pilot the clearance to start engines. We can see when it is safe to do so 😁
