Thankyou for your professional service that makes it safe for us to fly, You guys train your instrument ratings and along side ATC get us safely on the ground.
Thank you so much for watching and wise comment. Yes the combination of professional services from ATC, flight operations and effective training make sure people travel by air safely 👍
One of the most immersive and exciting cockpit videos I've seen - purely because you stay on this one angle and you can hear all the cockpit ambience. Absolutely fantastic - would have been even better full screen though! (Would rather have captions sitting on top momentarily than watch the whole thing windowboxed - just my feedback!) Thanks
Awesome view and great landing! Would you be okay with me featuring this in my series Weekly Dose of Aviation? Of course you will be credited both in the video and in the description. Thanks!
Rain Repellant! Excellent call. If there was ever a moment to use it then it was here. Heavy rain, runway in sight, night, but i would of used it on the right side first to test. Good positive touchdown. One of those nights when you earn your money!
I’m just curious how the windshield wipers stay connected to clean the windshield at that speed with that much rain without just ripping the wiper blade arms off
Fantastic landing in bad weather, thanks for this! You have some incredible storms over there (I'm from Ireland). I remember flying Bali to Singapore at night and there was an incredible, very active thunderstorm visible from our seats not far away. Clouds much, much higher than the plane.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you very much. Tropical storm/depression activities around South East Asia are quite enormous as you can imagine. On the contrary, I saw many approach/landing vids in Ireland/UK where the extreme gusty winds happen that very impressive as well. Cheers
Glad to see you doing well Chilli! I still remember when you were training out of Castle as the first cadre of students from Vietnam. Fly safe and I look forward to seeing more of your flying!
Awesome capture! Would you mind if I featured this view in one of my upcoming episodes? I'll be sure to credit your original video with a link. Thanks a lot!
That was a GREAT approach Captain Chilli. Felt like i was in the cockpit with you. Thanks for sharing the rest of this clip. I enjoyed it very much. *I subscribed. 👍
Amazing footage captain.. ❤thanks for sharing.. going thru the wx at 9000 is something..!!! 😵💫😵💫 appreciate ur FO also for being soo cool headed beside you too… 😅😅
This seemed like my flight from Tampa to Reagan last Christmas. During the approach we ran into a heavy storm and it was a roller coaster ride all the way down. Pilots guiding us safely but still rattled my nerves.
Seeing the excellent visibility out of the left window puts the title a little bit in perspective. There definitely are MUCH more "severe" weather conditions for a landing.
I’m curious, they have all kinds of hydrophobic coatings for glass that are inexpensive and work very well on a car going 60mph. Like you don’t even have to turn your wipers on at that speed. So it would work even better on an airplane. Why don’t they use it?
Aircraft cockpit windows are made from several layers and they are thicker and stronger enormously than the car’s. In addition, wipers work up to more than 200kt (230mph) combined with rain repellent that are crucial to adverse weather conditions. Thus I think the combination is good enough.
I'm a nervous flyer. That bumpy approach would be a nightmare for me. I wish I could see from my seat what's going on in the cockpit so I can reassure everything is under control. Your calm and professionalism would certainly help me. Boeing, Airbus: please put cams inside the cockpit!!
Hello there, thank you for your comment, I appreciate it 👍 I don’t think aircraft manufacturers would do it, since flight crew’s privacy reasons. But you can see the cockpit videos like this one from UA-cam or other social media haha. Cheers
The aircraft is equipped with rain repellent system btw, it’s enough for heavy rain situations. Due to the perspective of this camera view, you hardly to see the runway but for pilot’s view, we clearly have it in sight. Cheers
Well, from what I understand, you must let the fluid act in order to create the desired Hydrophobic Seal Coating, otherwise you will smear the whole thing of . But yes the Fcom no longer mentions it as well as other stuff…
Hello, thanks for watching. Yes the aircraft can do autoland itself but depends on many factors (aircraft capabilities, crew qualification, airline limitation and airport limitations etc) so it’s not always you can do it. Btw, the runway at this airport can not used for autoland as per our company SOP. Cheers
First time watching a video of yours. I've been paying attention to that very closely. Especially on the FO, since I'm also one... Do you always keep the taxi light on until reaching the parking psn? Love the verification of applied parking brake by pointing towards the indicator at 12:15. That's so Asian ^^ Also noticed that continous ignition has been used due to heavy rain, which you then switched off after cutting the engines off. Just double-checked with my OM-B... probably the FO missed switching it off during her after landing flow
Tks for your comment. My FO did a great job in general even though she is brand new to the line and quite less experienced (minor mistake during high workloads could be deliberated) I kept the taxi light on due to very poor taxi line marking in rainy conditions and that time there were no personnel in front of our a/c ^^
What a hell, I'm not a pilot and I'm not particularly afraid of flying, but if I were at the controls right now I think I'd still be a little stressed.
Yeah, imagine flying a giant airplane load the ground. You can’t see anything I mean absolutely nothing. I don’t think they broke out of the clouds until they were about 500 feet maybe a little lower.
Flare height has to be adjusted according to wind conditions, aircraft speed, and is not fixed. If for example you have a tailwind, you will need to flare earlier as your rate of descent will be higher during approach.
Hi there. This airport has the runway that is upslope in the middle and combined with the rainy night weather could made a visual illusion for pilots during flare. Thus so many firm/hard landings happened before. We often mitigate this threat by start flaring a little bit earlier 👍
This is awesome! I love flying the 320 family. ✈️
I do too👍

Since when do you use rain repellent and wipers at the same time, did I miss something on the latest Fcom update?
also wasn't it that pilots try to avoid using the repellent bcs it's toxic to the max?

Descending through weather, at night and with the dome light on. Genius.
There’s no restrictions on our SOP about not using Dome light during bad weather. In addition, this is in Dimmed position, not Bright (:
Genius , in some airline SOP dome light on is requested when flying at night in bad weather, to minimise the eyes shock caused by lightning ..

no glidescope nor localizer
