I would like to repair a set of cables for a car battery jump starter (lithium). My daughter connected the crocodile clamps the wrong way round on her car and although they are supposed to be protected with a light for reverse connection they dont work anymore. There are only few components including 3 small capacitors , 1 chip and and a large black cube which resembles a relay that you would get in a car fuse box. (However its not a pull out like in a car). Anybody have any advice or direct me to a tutorial please? Shame I cant upload photos

It’s fake you can’t start with 5000 mAh , car battery in not dead, disconnecte car battery and you see can’t start the engine at least you need 12.8 v with 10000 mAh to start the engine.

i think your diy is good ahowing how to make jumpstarter but it seems that the cells you used are under votaged. 11.1v which in comparison to a car battery ahould have 12.7 v to properly start one.

Exactly ,11.1 volts is a flat 12v battery and I doubt it would work .

Lipo nominal voltage is 3.7v per cell x 3 cells = 11.1v. 3.7v is about 15% capacity ie a flat battery. 100% capacity is 4.2v per cell x 3 = 12.6v. Always use dedicated lipo chargers and never never charge greater than 4.2v per cell. Lipo doesnt like being stored at full charge either as they will end up degrading its lifespan quickly. I prefers to be stored at about 50-60% capacity which is 3.8-3.85v. 3.85 might not seem like much above 3.7, but it can give a mighty big kick amp wise.
