Would be great if this could be made a layer that could be viewed as a ghostly background imposed on the current streets that replaced the wall. Or vice versa. Perhaps a layer of the streets before the wall, a layer of this vid showing the wall, and a layer of the streets that have replaced the wall to show differences between the pre- and post- wall streets
Toll gemacht.
tolle Arbeit! super gemacht!
Super gemacht!! Danke!
sehr interessant danke
Google Maps should have a button you can click to show the path of the wall. I tried to follow along with the video on one side and Google Maps on the other, but it's tricky because so much has changed and not all streets are labeled in the video.
It's a shame that there aren't more relics of the wall or guard towers still in place. I can imagine that cold war tourism was not a high priority in the first years of unification.
Super😎👍

He didn't show the whole course. But only a bit. The oberbaumbrücke was at least 1 km before the "big curve" in kreuzberg. At 0:15.
My dad liked to tell the joke about how the Communists set up a phone line for people wanting to cross the Wall. The phone number was 999 (nein nein nein)
Simply horrible and disgusting the price that post war generations had to pay in the greatest Country of Europe. I have never accepted it, and did not want to go neither to Berlin nor to Germany for the first time, until the wall came down and this sacred Land was reunited.
An awful piece of World history. If life were so good in East Germany why did so many people want to leave ? My late Mother was born in Rostock on the German Baltic coast in 1928 and her and my German Grandmother were kicked out of their home in Rostock by Russian soldiers at the end of WW2 and luckily for them they moved to what became West Germany but my German Grandfather who was conscripted into the German army was denied access to West Germany never to see his wife or daughter ever again. We found out after the wall came down that he had died in 1966 ironically I was in Germany with my Mother at my grandmothers home on the day that he died. When the wall came down I was able to visit the rest of my Mothers cousins in the East and they told what a frightful life it was under Stasi control. They had twelve years of Hitler and forty years of communist oppression. I should add that my late Father was English and conscripted into the RAF and sent to Germany where he met my Mother in Hamburg.
You are absolutely right, too many innocent Germans had suffered because of a didctorship imposed by Mr Hitler first and later by the Russians! And what gets on my nerves is that nowdays not enough tribute is given to such suffering, not so many movies, documentaries and so forth, this is not fair to modern Germany.
@@germanyinmybloodinmyheart7192 I'm currently researching to write a film about life in East Berlin during the 1970s.
I love that question if life was so great in East Germany why leave? The answer is obvious it wasn’t that great!! It’s a terrible indicator when a massive wall with a shoot to kill order is necessary to keep people inside.
@@tammibasso558. I thought that they built it to keep the capitalist Western people out.
Mach doch
langsamer
