Recently had open heart surgery and now have a list of meds to remember... some taken in the morning, some in the evening and some at bedtime, as well as 'as-needed' meds such as painkillers. This helps to log everything, and is a great reminder with a gentle watch-vibration.
Thanks for mentioning NFC tags. I've never heard of doing that until I read your comment. Researching NFC tags now. I never knew you could buy stickers to apply to things and then use your iPhone to automate a process by tapping it. This is amazing.
Love this, Will be great for my parents but also for me too! Are you able to tell Siri you took a medication for the day? Have her mark it as taken? Would be easier for my parents.
This feature is lacking any customization to the alert. It needs a louder/different alarm option for medication reminders. What’s also needed is continuity between the reminders and all Apple devices. iPads don’t have any interaction with either the health app on your iPhone or its alarms/reminders. Better off using an alarm or reminders for continuity between devices.
Can you set the reminder to a perticular focus mode OR location ? Lock Screen or when sleep alarm sounds ? And can you set different times for different days
I'm excited for this feature. But it is missing one huge thing. I need to know how many of my pills are left. Then I can set up a reminder to get it filled before I run out. The app I use for med tracking is Medisafe and can do this. But I would prefer to use the health app for everything if they add in that feature.
Looks great but I use Medisafe at the moment as it allows me to record the number of pills for each medication and a reminder to repeat my prescription.
Thanks for the heads up on Medisafe. Using medisafe iPhone app now. I get 8 morning reminders to take my 8 meds. How do I remove my morning reminders? And only have 1 reminder.
I also use Medisafe as it also has the very beneficial feature of adding family medications and prescriptions (both paper based & e-scripts) and these prescriptions are linked to my pharmacy to directly order. Apple medications falls short in this area which is odd given family sharing.
I set my medications up in Health and I do get notifications, but I do NOT have the Medications app on my Series 7 Watch running the latest OS and can find no way to obtain it.
I have had my meds logged as soon as I found out about this app. However now, my MGC dosage has changed and it won't let me change it within the app. How do I fix this?
If I type medicine name it doesn’t show the search bar with results. They changed it or I’m dumb ? Or it of course works only in America because not like we have the same medicine …
Hi there. I have a question I was hoping you could answer. When adding my medications, I didn’t see that little camera icon, beside the space where you enter the medication name, which allows you to scan the labels of your medication bottles like you demonstrated. Is this feature only for an iPhone 14? I have a 13 Pro Max, and I’m wondering if I need to change something in my settings? Or is it just that my 13 Pro Max doesn’t support that function?
I love it but I don’t love how its all clustered in the health app. I use the health app often but this seems like an extra feature and data (in the sea of data of the Health App)
I'm from Mexico, here the health app don't report dangerous interactions with alcohol or drugs. Does anyone know when this function will activate in Mexico?
How can I get the name of the medication with the reminder? It shows on my Apple Watch that I have to take my medication, but it doesn’t show the name of the medication…
My only complaint is that the notification is not persistent and there isn’t an app badge to let you know that you need to log a dose. As someone who can’t stand any app badges, this always forces me to take my medication to get rid of it. I did submit a suggestion to Apple so I’ll be interested to see what the final iteration of this will be when iOS is rolled out to everyone.
If I have a medication that is due at 12:30 PM, if I take that medication at 12:20 PM it will log me as taking it at 12:20 PM but then alert me at 12:30 PM to take it again. It doesn’t seem to track and recognize That I have taken the medication early. Taking it late does the same thing. It would be great if it would recognize that I am taking the medication at a slightly different time and acknowledge that this is the 12:30 PM medication and stop notifying me that I missed a Medication.
These are useless. The sound notification is not configurable, and the sound is too low, and no vibration. I miss the small “bip” around 90% of the time. Does anyone know of an app with condigurable notification sound, vibration, and apple watch support?
I liked the idea, but the implementation sucks - it would be nice if it automatically accessed existing databases on pill shapes and colours, and for that matter reported contra-indications between my meds.
Unable to indicate whether you need to take pills permanently or for a week, for instance. Definitely makes this feature not as useful as it pretends to be.
Bit basic. How about add doctor. Add which doctor gave the script. A reminder of when the script is due. Add reminder if specialist referral is needed. Patholody? just basic.
Hey Alex, with any medication, your doctor will ALWAYS look for harmful drug interactions. That's why you're asked any time you go in "what medications are you currently taking" including vitamins. After that, your pharmacist is also on the lookout for these things before giving you them. What happens though is sometimes people have different doctors or forget to mention a certain prescription they're on or go to different pharmacies. Any of this. And in those cases drugs can interact in harmful ways. This is one last way you can be vigilant about any potential issues. Not to mention is also monitors for interactions with marijuana which some may not mention to their doctor or alcohol and tobacco that are more recreational.
Hey Andrew -- great name! -- as I mentioned to someone else, this is basically your last line of defense. The primary use case is tracking your medicine to be sure you take it and such but it will also alert you of any issues. Your doctor should already know what you take and your pharmacist will be on the lookout too. But sometimes, you go to a different pharmacy or you go to an ER doc that may not know your medical history. In those situations, this is a helpful tool.
I think it’s great. Some people such as myself have memory issues. I’ve been at appointments and forgotten to bring my meds and can’t remember what they all are so this really does help. Also having it alert emergency responders with my health info including my meds would really help in an emergency situation.
@@thephilonline I also have memory issues (autoimmune disorder), so I concur that it will be immensely helpful. Sometimes people forget that we made it years ago without these things, but for those who don’t have a support system it helps to avoid outcomes where your life would be in danger (taking medication twice or not at all etc). You can’t convince everyone…😏
As a transplant patient, this will be great. Can’t wait for the public beta. Thanks for the video.

This is a great improvement to the health app. I have used it everyday since iOS 16 beta was released! Thank you apple
You can also add a NFC tag on the top of the bottle so all you need to do is tap the lid. In canada 🇨🇦 we don’t have all those options though

is there a way to add medicine with out a time to take it, take them in morning and night

How do you setup a refill alert? The medication tracker I use now. Reminds me when I have only ten pills left
Does apple health do that?
I'm excited for this feature. But it is missing one huge thing. I need to know how many of my pills are left. Then I can set up a reminder to get it filled before I run out. I hope you and your family and freinds are safe and doing well Andrew thanks looking forward to seeing new updates and videos take care
@appleinsider pls show how to create a Automation using NFC to log my medication every time I take
Great feature apple 🍎 has added

This is a great feature that apple has implemented
Does anybody else encounter an issue with the notifications not coming up on the watch? All my notification settings are on so I can’t figure it out
how do you at medication that is more freuqently than every day??
I’d like to be able to preempt the notification by scanning an NFC tag in Shortcuts when I take my meds. If scanned it would mark the meds as taken.
How do you add is to short cuts to make an NFC tag to log a medication?
Is it possible to use an NFC tag to log whenever you take a medication? (I.e. tap the tag and it logs that you took the med at that time?)
Yes!
That’s what I’m looking to do, too.
This is huge. Especially for the elderly.
Well the fancy features are only available in the US
Thank you for the video. Do you know if it's possible to add shortcut to setting meds as taken?
why don't I get suggestions when logging in medication ? Its like I need to customise everything ?
What about over the counter medicines or supplements? Can you add them too?
Yes you can add them too
Great Video Andrew
I set my medications up in Health and I do get notifications, but I do NOT have the Medications app on my Series 7 Watch running the latest OS and can find no way to obtain it.
This is a good thing thanks for this video Andrew hope you are well
Is it an option for a day for when your done with the prescription?
I like this new feature
I don't know, but I don't see an expiration date anywhere. The beginning of taking a specific medicine is there, but the end is not.
I have had my meds logged as soon as I found out about this app. However now, my MGC dosage has changed and it won't let me change it within the app. How do I fix this?

I think its just in America and it sucks
Great video thanks Andrew. Will you be able to use iPad of this? Maybe the reports?
Thanks again
Makes total sense for 🍎 Health.
Looking forward to this new feature

How do I go back to previous days,
and log medication that was taken but not charted?
Does it have a not have sound when it tell u to take ur meds
Vitamins still don’t work though because vitamins can’t add all the health benefits on your summary page ??
What happens if you add medications as a favorite? Can you add all of them or just one?
What watch face is that ?
awesome feature, sucks that its avilable only in the US
Has there been anything to say when this will be added to the iOS betas for UK users?
Is this something that is no available yet? I can’t find it on my app
This is currently in beta and will be available this fall!
I love it but I don’t love how its all clustered in the health app. I use the health app often but this seems like an extra feature and data (in the sea of data of the Health App)
Does it automatically update your Emergency Medical ID with your medications info? (The low battery killing me)
They won’t have access to your medicine will they?
I'm from Mexico, here the health app don't report dangerous interactions with alcohol or drugs. Does anyone know when this function will activate in Mexico?
I think I'm going to love this in the health app once IOS 16 comes out
Does anyone know how to add the app to your Apple Watch?
How can I get the name of the medication with the reminder? It shows on my Apple Watch that I have to take my medication, but it doesn’t show the name of the medication…
Is this not available yet for everyone? I don’t see it under the Health app.
Only in iOS16, which is still in beta. The reviewer downloaded public testing beta.
I don’t see this feature
Awesome
Can you please consider changing to 30 or 60 fps? 24 is good for movies, but not really for UA-cam, I don’t care what Rene Richie says.
Sorry Adam, I much prefer watching UA-cam videos in 24 FPS and not just because of Rene!
Looks good, but it would be better if it kept track of the number of pills left

Thanks to iOS 16, because I using the clock or reminders everyday but sometimes I set up again.
Another feature for Apple products that could be life-saving.

Mine doesn't allow me to use the camera to add medication, not sure why.
You may have an iPhone 8 or X-it’s not supported.

Try going to setting and make sure the health app has camera permission turned on

This alone might convert me to apple. PTSD can cause you to have a memory of a pasta strainer.... o_O
Omeprazole = for stomach acid.
Yup yup!

Notifications don't stay annoyingly
As great as this feature is, I’m inclined to look for a second opinion (no pun intended) from an actual doctor.

This app is useless because the alert is a silent one
Great video! I pay for youtube premium. You override that, resulting 👎
USELESS !!! If u r busy when it’s time to take yur meds it does NOT keep nagging u. Useless unless I’m nagged until I respond “taken”
If you need a phone and or an app to track meds you have bigger issues then what you’re taking

They missed a lot of doses. The pill reminder boxes help but this goes one better.
do you think this feature will be avaible in all countries?
