They looks so awesome as adults :D My Korra is just a few months old ( born in August 2015) But she acts just like an adult :D Maybe she is more skittish but i supose thats normal for such a small lizard :) But she always runs towards the glass when i enter the room waiting for food :)
I just want to say that your videos have been very helpful and thank you. I got a month old veiled chameleon about two weeks ago and a baby tortoise last Monday. Your advice and tips have helped us a lot and definitely have made it an easier process. Keep doing what you do!
Very usefull video! Thank you! :) These animals, along with 18 other reptile species, will become legal to keep here in Norway august 15th 2017 :) This video was a great place to start researching ;) Btw: Stella ;)
Stella very nice video I would love to get my self a few one day but they are hard to find an when ever I see one so SOO over priced its nuts maybe one day lol great video as always looking forward to the next one
You could just get a 70 gallon adult setup right off the bat, but like he said smaller is fine until it gets bigger. I just prefer putting them in the adult enclosure right away to save money in the long run. Monitors generally don't seem to get stressed out in oversized enclosures like some other reptiles do, so theres no real downside.
@@alexcrowder1673 other benefit to a 40+ is the exercise if they don't want to be held to give them more space than they need with tons of cork pieces incase of climbing objects falling over. 1ft of cork round is about 3/4ths a pound so no different than another one of their kind tackling them for dominant play.
Hey! Nice video glad Stella is doing well and a lot better! I recently got a veiled chameleon like 3 days ago and he is doing very well. Not sure if he or she, I see faint spurs but that's it. When will the dart frogs come? Stella
stella. I wish I could get these were I live, but even if you could feeding them would be a challenge because the pet stores here don't carry a supply of crickets and roaches(or any insect )
+Mike Tytula I live in the Caribbean, Barbados to be exact. The most common reptiles our pet stores have are the red foot tortoise(if you are lucky you might find one roaming around outside since they are some in the wild......I think they are native), red ear sliders and on a rare occasion you may find an iguana.
Mike Tytula lol fair enough I wasn't sure, I just know that you can find some roaming around the island. But yup that's how it is here. So I really do envy you guys that get to have such cool pets(monitors/komodo dragons being my favorite lizard)
Ok, so, I'm curious, I have an enormous bearded dragon (almost 2 feet long) who is around seven years old. He never bites or shows signs of aggression and is chill with other lizards. We are planning to buy/ build him a huge viv at some point (at least 4'x3'x3') and have also been considering getting an ackie. My question is, would they be able to go in the same viv if it was big enough?
NO! They are completely different organisms ackies need a much hotter basking spot. And will likely out compete the beardie. Mixing species in general is just not recommended.
Stella. Ackies kind of remind me of those super smart raptor from Jurassic world. Also how long did it take you to convince your parents to let you get one and was it hard. P.S what are good websites to get them from in Canada
+Ethan Hughes All monitors are very intelligent. I would get them from canadian coldblood or when I hopefully get some me haha. As for convincing I am ruthless haha
You gotta feed the insects everyday? Wow, that can get extremely expensive afterwhile. I was thinking about getting one but they seem high maintenance. Ill just stick to my ridiculously low maintenance ball python. They only eat rats/mice once week.
I know that the Basking spot needs to be between 120 to 130 degrees Farenheit but what about the traditional light in general besides the Basking spot how hot does the enclosure need to be because I'm trying to do enough research to actually start saving the money for an enclosure and I want to make sure I get both the right bulbs for the right amount of heat
well mostly Im talking about the eclectrical stuff with the light fixtures and the heating light and a little on how u made the sliding door.... so pretty much every thing but the actual walls, which is like three pieces of wood... im also 14 though so I don't know much about building this stuff and what would to use if there is some wood I shouldn't be using
+BaraPersson Bearded dragons PROS- Almost always docile -Much slower then ackies -Commercial diets are readily available -Do not need deep substrate CONS-Are not very "exotic" -Are not very active -Are not as smart as ackies Ackies PROS-Very active -Always entertaining -Will develop a "bond" with the owner -Can become very docile CONS-Some ackies bite... and it hurts... bad -No commercial diet -Can be skittish
+Jordan Compton Very well said. Most people get butthurt when you tell them monitors are smarter than their beloved beardies. Once you've ownd a monitor though the intelligence is very noticeable. It's almost catlike intelligence. Maybe its just because my nile lives with housecats but I feel like they act similarly too. Sometimes they give you attention, and sometimes they could care less that you even exist lol.
what do you mean socialize exactly. i have a baby and he runs as soon as i open the tank i cant even get near him i tryed putting food on my hand but he still wont touch it
Its the American Douche again. I understand a larger enclosure is always better, but is my ackie really going to suffer being in a 40 gallon breeder for his first year? Ill be planning a larger, built enclosure to be used eventually.
+Mike Tytula I will. They just hatched out last month, so he will be small for a bit. I plan on building one this summer. The program I'm going through for school is year around, but I should be able to build a little at a time. Thanks for the quick reply.
+Mike Tytula Popular opinion says 4x2x2 is acceptable for a final enclosure for one ackie? I'm thinking plywood sealed with polyurethane. Melamine seems like it would rot and mold maintaining 65-85% humidity.
Has anyone else noticed that he sounds like the person from How to train your dragon?
(No offence intended)
he does lol dope
Hydraz good call he definitely does
Hydraz HOLY SHIT I JUST REALISED THAT!!!!
yes
What one
They looks so awesome as adults :D My Korra is just a few months old ( born in August 2015) But she acts just like an adult :D Maybe she is more skittish but i supose thats normal for such a small lizard :) But she always runs towards the glass when i enter the room waiting for food :)
Stella and Bowser are amazingly cool.
What a wonderful video!
They look like they have little flowers on them!
That is true!
I just want to say that your videos have been very helpful and thank you. I got a month old veiled chameleon about two weeks ago and a baby tortoise last Monday. Your advice and tips have helped us a lot and definitely have made it an easier process. Keep doing what you do!

Awesome video man:)!! I've always wanted one but my mom won't let me I'll have to keep working on her
+Reptile101 some day :)
Loved watching Stella eating. Wish I had one too.
They are fantastic!
Am i the only one who watches these videos just for the ackie footage?
also, stella
Considering how old this video is, maybe! But glad you enjoyed
There is just not enough footage of ackies on UA-cam (wink wink)
Agreed! There isn't much
Stella, thank you very much for the information you gave about feeding them. I never knew how much calcium i could give them.
No problem!
Very usefull video! Thank you! :)
These animals, along with 18 other reptile species, will become legal to keep here in Norway august 15th 2017 :)
This video was a great place to start researching ;)

very nice video I would love to get my self a few one day but they are hard to find an when ever I see one so SOO over priced its nuts maybe one day lol great video as always looking forward to the next one

+JoesDragonsNYC That's awesome! :)
Stella(: ahh, when are you announcing your new addition?!
+Morgan King very soon :)
I like 👍🏻 most of your videos 😀your welcome
What size terrarium should a baby or juvenile be in?

Stella. Thanks for the info.
Thanks for watching!
Stella has a pretty happy life!
+Daniel Gomes She's a good girl :)
3:33 I believe he's referring to Retes stacks
Dude I'm thinking about getting a ackie monitors this would be my first monitor I've heard there a good start
They are a good start!
Great vid man, I might have to look into getting one of those awesome monitor lizards!
+Austin Burton Right on they aren't cheap but they are amazing!
Hey! Nice video glad Stella is doing well and a lot better! I recently got a veiled chameleon like 3 days ago and he is doing very well. Not sure if he or she, I see faint spurs but that's it. When will the dart frogs come? Stella

You should make a video how to build this enclosure
Next time I build one I will do my best to capture it on film
Thank you I have been looking forward for the vid
+James MURPHY No problem! I hope it helped!
Stella, great video mate
stella. I wish I could get these were I live, but even if you could feeding them would be a challenge because the pet stores here don't carry a supply of crickets and roaches(or any insect )

Stella is very Stella'r';)
Awesome vid, and Stella. :)
+andone01red Thanks man!
are meal worms ok instead of crickets?
Can you make more chameleon video please . I am going to get a chameleon and I like your advise
+Jenny Martinez Advise on what? And I make plenty of chameleon video if you look at my channel :)

awesome video!!!!
+Purple Flamingo Thanks man!

at 0:48 where did you get that miniature tree thing on the right? It looks awesome
Petsmart? I think!
You gotta feed the insects everyday? Wow, that can get extremely expensive afterwhile. I was thinking about getting one but they seem high maintenance. Ill just stick to my ridiculously low maintenance ball python. They only eat rats/mice once week.
I only feed them every couple of days now.
Between 80-90 I would say.
Did you find out what's on Stella's tail it could be a healed burn
+Daygecko1 No I didn't and no I don't think it's a burn
stella lol watching in 2019
Nice
thanks good information. Were did you get you Ackie's?
Canadian coldblood
Can you make a breeding video of a layout box for your ackie Monitor's
When I breed them sure
Thanks
I seen all of your videos
+Jenny Martinez Thanks buddy!
I know this is an old video but i love the videos on bowser lol
Well I guess I was late replying as well! Glad you enjoyed the video
Cool
Stella
Good video man
Love your videos! How hard are ackies to keep?
Not that hard honestly.
wow i live in australia and never knew they were from australia
+battered bronco stella
+battered bronco They are indeed!
Where did u get the cages from?
The wooden ones? I had them custom made for me.
You say lay box so I’m assuming you breed them? Any advice on how to breed them?
I actually haven't bred them, that was incase the female laid but unfortunately she passed away a couple years ago
Hi Stella!
Can you make more chameleon videos
+Lpscherry I've gotten it a couple times so I will for sure :)
What type of gravel do you use? If its a mix is it white sand or red sand?
stella, also very nice vid, getting mine at tuesday :) keep it up man!!
+Senne De Marie Right on! I hope you enjoy their beauty!
thanks man :D you're videos are awesome
Senne De Marie Thank you!
do more videos on the tortoise
+JOHN LEO What would you like to see?
how many crickets do you feed them
for your there cages how did u guys build in the light fixtures and put the screen cover over them to get to the light bulb?
+Lee Reptiles They have little latches on the side that hold it up, and it's just chicken wire!
did u make your cage? and if so could u do a video on how u did and what u used, or if u bought it can u just tell me were please
+dom_person113 You can make them fairly easily if I build another one I will make a video about it. But I mean it's pretty self explanitory haha
well mostly Im talking about the eclectrical stuff with the light fixtures and the heating light and a little on how u made the sliding door.... so pretty much every thing but the actual walls, which is like three pieces of wood... im also 14 though so I don't know much about building this stuff and what would to use if there is some wood I shouldn't be using
Stella !
Thanks for watching!
Do you feed adults everyday? I know babies eat everyday which is fine but wondering how often adults eat out the week? thanks
I typically don't the ackie I have now gets fed once or twice a week.
Stella
I hope STELLA has been doing well!
+Bando Kim (TheBandoChannel) She has been!
That's great to know!
Bando Kim I agree :)
What cage is Stella in? Is that a 4x2x2?
love ur vids, I subbed
Yeah I did
Ackie monitor vs Bearded dragon?
Pros and cons with both -
Stella :)
+BaraPersson
Bearded dragons
PROS- Almost always docile
-Much slower then ackies
-Commercial diets are readily available
-Do not need deep substrate
CONS-Are not very "exotic"
-Are not very active
-Are not as smart as ackies
Ackies
PROS-Very active
-Always entertaining
-Will develop a "bond" with the owner
-Can become very docile
CONS-Some ackies bite... and it hurts... bad
-No commercial diet
-Can be skittish
+Jordan Compton Very well said. Most people get butthurt when you tell them monitors are smarter than their beloved beardies. Once you've ownd a monitor though the intelligence is very noticeable. It's almost catlike intelligence. Maybe its just because my nile lives with housecats but I feel like they act similarly too. Sometimes they give you attention, and sometimes they could care less that you even exist lol.
it's actually true though.. you don't see Beardies scavenging after humans unlike Monitors..
TheSchmeister Ackies can't scavenge on humans
Stella. So then what is a good size enclosure for just a single ackie?
4x2x2
sweet vid !
How many crickets a day for baby and adult. Stella
Baby 15-20 adults every other day 10-15
What plants should I grow for my red eyed croc skinks they like high humidty
+dit dot REd nerve plants and other dart frog plants should be fine
Do you have to keep them in pairs?
hay mate how did you get them so tame bowser just wants to come and chill how did you do it
Just socialize with him frequently!
what do you mean socialize exactly. i have a baby and he runs as soon as i open the tank i cant even get near him i tryed putting food on my hand but he still wont touch it
Could you do a pacman frog one
+frigid123ful Hopefully I will my buddy has a couple so I would be able to get footage as well
How big would there cage be if you keep one by itself
Very sorry for asking all these questions
Reptile Enthusiast i would guess about the same but you shouldn't keep them by themselves
Is it ok to keep to males in a cage together because I don't want any eggs
No. Only get one if that is the case
How big of an enclosure is needed for one adult
+Hunter Evans Minimum the size that I have
I have one ackie I think it's a yellow, but wanted to get another for it, but was not sure? I'm worried they might harm one another? what should I do?
If you get another one make sure you have enough space to house them separately if there was ever an issue with aggression or anything like that.
Hi nice Video Bro :) good information thumbs up
Love Stella she´s Great :)
+mathias priegnitz Thanks man! Always good to see you stick around :)
Brothers in arms are brothers for life :D ;)
mathias priegnitz Thanks man! I appreciate it!
How often do u feed them
How big in centimetres does there terrarium have to be
I'll give it to you in feet, 4 long 2 deep 2 tall. You can covert if you like
75 gallon big enough?
Where do you recommend doing more research
All over the internet!
Are they intermediate pets or experienced pets
Depends how much research you do on them.
Where did you buy your ackies? Trying to find a seller.
depends where you live
Are these fully grown? How big do they get?
These are fully grown.
You mentioned a cage size for a pair, but what is minimum for one adult?
Same size as the pair
Is a 4×2×2 ( L×H×W) good size even for a full grown ackie? Or will they require a larger enclosure?
That is a good size
Its the American Douche again. I understand a larger enclosure is always better, but is my ackie really going to suffer being in a 40 gallon breeder for his first year? Ill be planning a larger, built enclosure to be used eventually.
+hardbrocklife Hoenstly I would try and build the larger enclosure ASAP
+Mike Tytula I will. They just hatched out last month, so he will be small for a bit. I plan on building one this summer. The program I'm going through for school is year around, but I should be able to build a little at a time. Thanks for the quick reply.
hardbrocklife oh ya then a 40 should be fine for something like 6 months maybe a year but that is pushing it haha.
+Mike Tytula Popular opinion says 4x2x2 is acceptable for a final enclosure for one ackie? I'm thinking plywood sealed with polyurethane. Melamine seems like it would rot and mold maintaining 65-85% humidity.
hardbrocklife All that sounds spot on to me!
How many crickets do you feed them each day?
10-15 ish
Where can I buy yellow or red ackies preferably yellow.
Depends where you live!
stella!
Is 75g enough?
Male looks bigger to me!
They can be
