The time you spend building something like this makes it special unlike buying something already done and only ever changing the strings on it🤔 and PS I have Squires that are better than fenders out-of-the-box

You don't have a Squire Bullet Mustang anymore!!! Thank goodness the only thing I did was smooth the fret side and put on Fender knobs! I'm all set!

I didn’t even do that. All I did was get a tortoise shell pickguard for it because the guitar is surf green, and put a Stoneonta sticker on it. Why do they sound and play sooo good?!
I have no clue! This is the absolute best Squier below the Affinity series, hands down. The necks on these are FAR superior to any Bullet neck I’ve ever tried, and most Affinities. I’m definitely considering getting a second one!
Thank you very much for uploading this video. I ordered a mustang bullet after a hand injury that requires me to use a smaller neck. I find the guitar and scale more comfortable than anything I have previously played and now want to see how much nicer I can make it. I’ve never done anything beyond string changes before but now I am stoked for all the learning to come. This video by far was the most helpful for a newbie like myself. Thanks again!

You are such a wild man, lol, for all of your guitar mods; and, an inspiration, to boot! You failed to show installation of the whammy bar, plus, what about the holes left from the stock bridge? More stars, perhaps? The Ford Mustang emblem is a great idea! Thanks for sharing!
The Bullet and Classic Vibe Squier Mustangs were my favourite guitars until I picked up my USA Stratocaster and straight away you can feel the quality and finish of my Standard USA Stratocaster.
There is a huge difference between playing a USA Fender Stratocaster and any Squier. Some people are delusional and kid themselves Squiers are as good as Fenders it is simply so untrue like everything you get what you pay for.
Before you start attacking me verbally I own at least 7 Squiers. Squiers are great guitars for beginner to intermediate players
Hello Michael! There is no doubt that American-made Fenders blow Squier's out of the water. You absolutely get what you pay for! I find that Squier is a fantastic value for someone who cannot afford a USA Fender, and it gets you somewhat closer than a knockoff from a different brand would. The only argument I would make is that Squier guitars are not only for beginners or intermediate players. Even advanced and expert players can get alot of joy out of a Squier and make it sound great--but probably not as good as a USA Fender :)
Amazon had it on sale for $139.99 so I ordered one today. I also got some P90s to drop in it and found some locking tuners that have the same screw hole position as the stock tuners for $11 on sale. I'm keeping the stock bridge and saddles for now, but they'll probably get changed out for a Jazzmaster style bridge and trem system at some point in the future. I'm also going to shim the neck to tilt back about .5 degrees. Leo Fender originally designed offsets to have a slight tilt back. It also allows you to install a little bit taller bridge.
The pickups and tuners I take off this instrument are going on my cheap Chinese Glarry "Mustang" clone.
These guitars are very fun to mod!

Is there any way to install a Floyd Rose trem into one of these? I have one laying around and was wondering!
It would be possible, but barely:
1. You’d need a wood router
2. You’d need to rout out a cavity for the trem all the way through the body
3. You’d need to rout out the top layer for the bridge
4. You’d need to drill holes for the posts
5. The trem block would likely poke out the back of the guitar due to how thin it is
6. You’d need to cut the nut slot to fit the locking nut
So, you COULD do it, but it would take an immense amount of work and without absolute precision it would not be usable.
Also, considering how thin this guitar is(it’s INSANELY thin), I would worry about the integrity of the body after such an install(cracking, warping, etc).

Just caught this video but I’m just about to go to bed it’s late here in the UK ima watch it in the morning, looking good tho bro, I’m just about to embark on a Mustang build myself I’m gonna build a Sky-stang as close to how Kurt had his, just sourced 80% of the parts with a few things left to buy, wires pickups hopefully have a guitar in the coming months 👌🏼👌🏼🎸

I highly recommend it! It’s a very cheap instrument with decent pickups and a decent neck. It’s a fantastic mod platform, and even though it’s a Squier, it’s still a MUSTANG! 🎸
Of course mate, I have zero problems with Squire ye they can be a bit rough around the edges (sometimes) but then so can the bigger names

What did you do to the ground wire after installing the new bridge and bigsby. Cuz currently I am trying to modify my bullet mustang and im replacing the original bridge with an actual fender mustang bridge and tremolo. And im having trouble figuring out what to do with the ground wire
There are a couple options:
1. Ground it to the bottom of one of the bridge posts
2. Ground it to the bottom of the bridge
3. Ground it to a metal piece attached to the underside of the trem system

hey thank you for the video, I was wondering can ı apply the bigsby and the bridge modification for a Affinity Squier Strat or what do you suggest to me for putting a bigsby tremelo to a Start in general? Is using a Jaguar bridge ideal way to it? especially in the terms of price because guitar spare parts unfortunatly aren't that cheap in my country, thank you for your attantion!
I wouldn’t do it. The existing Strat trem is far superior to a cheap bigsby-style like this one. You’d have to route out holes for posts, etc. But, if it’s a hardtail without an existing trem, this is one of your only options for adding one.
@@BigJakeMusic I was thinking actually the same thing, it's not a hardtail but I just love the look of a bigsby on a modern looking guitar. But you are probably right, İt will be best to posponde my bigsby enthusiasium for a future guitar of mine I guess, thank you for your answer!
Buzzing is not necessarily due to tuners. I replaced the hardtail with the bridge first - it was the worst I've ever seen!
And also - the Jaguar/Mustang old-fashioned 9.5" bridge is not the best option at all with the Bullet's 12" neck radius! So I chose the 4x more expensive Schaller 12" bridge.
You have a very good point, and this was one of my first mod projects. If I had to do it again I would go with a 12 inch radius bridge for sure. I suppose I can still swap it out :P
Hey Jake, I would install a TOM bridge with a Bigsby on my bullet mustang. Any advices? Great project tho!
Thank you! And installing the TOM bridge would be identical to the way I did it here. Measure out the distance, drill two holes, and put in the posts. :)
out of curiosity, how'd you end up going about the grounding?
When you installed the Bigsby-style tremolo, is there a certain measurement to go by, for where it gets mounted? Building one very similar :)
For the bigsby, not so much. For the bridge, measure 24 inches from the nut since the Mustang is a 24 inch scale length guitar. I just rigged the bigsby to fit where it looked visually appropriate. I’m sure there’s a better way to do it, but that was my method!

I wanted vibrato. Realistically though I only did it as a proof of concept to myself and it was definitely worth it. Although, I will probably buy another one to leave stock :)
jaguar style bridge are terrible dude
I know they are, but I wanted to go Fender instead of Tune-O-Matic to keep with the spirit of the original Mustang!
@@BigJakeMusic the floating bridge is so good with smooth bending transitions for surf and nirvana kinda sounds where you move from nices hooks to nicer hooks to more and more hooks with a smoove bend on the wammy to blend the transition smoove together not every ones cup of tea but is the best thing to people who grasp it for what it is i have both this and a jaguar almoste done building my jazzmaster just needs paint
That’s great! I like the subtlety of a bigsby, jaguar, or mustang trem system. I also love the insanity of a Floyd Rose and own a few of those too! When I said it was bad I was referring to the bridge itself(with the saddles), not the tremolo part.
