    Hell yes, get one. I have two now. They are wonderful little guitars that usually have nothing wrong with them new except needing a setup to your liking and a little attention to the frets and oil for the fingerboard. I customized my first one, a surf green that I got 2 years ago for $150, and will probably leave my metallic blue one basically as-is, which I got for $14 (yes, fourteen) at the pawn shop because nobody else wanted it after it had hung on their wall for 6 months. I luckily walked in on the day the manager felt like getting rid of it. Both of my Bullet Mustangs have great overall fit and finish and zero problems with the standard electronics or hardware, but of course you might not have my luck on this. Overall I've done well with Squiers, and many of us blow $150 bucks or whatever over a typical weekend on things of no lasting value so my advice is buy one of these instead and stay home for a change this weekend.
    (Edit: 1 year later, Dec '23) Still loving and enjoying my Mustangs. Getting ready to mod my blue one soon. Going to repaint the body with Krylon Fusion paint to match Fender's Olympic White, because a light color shows off the very nice offset body shape better than the stock metallic blue, IMO. I also bought a 4-ply red tortoise-shell replacement pickguard from Musiclily that is very nice. All I'm going to do on this one is swap the pickups and switch over to the new pickguard because honestly they work fine. This is just going to be a cosmetic makeover so the guitar looks better to me. The blue paint is very good but the color was simply not turning me on. Then I saw a '65 Fender in Olympic White with tortoise pickguard and THAT, friends, is the shizzle. My surf green Mustang looks great with its stock white pickguard, so I may use my now-spare white pickguard to do some pickup experimentation on that one. But no hurry on that.

    I didn't even know this Mustang had contours til after I bought it and it arrived. Such a nice surprise. Great guitar. Very light. And yeah this Mustang needs no mods. Sounds great the way it is. I wouldn't change a thing with my Surf Green Bullet Mustang.

      LOL finally someone agrees with me but I have the white one also. I was going to mention that a lot of channels are reviewing the Mustang but most are modded so much! I've also mentioned that when my guitars were stolen they left it alone but they took my POS Glarry. Go figure.

    Good points about not mod ding this guitar. It sounds great. Mine almost sound single coul. That might be a stretch but it cuts through in live situations very well. All around good guitar. One negative aspect is re--stringing it. It can be tedious. For those of you who have one and have this problem, here's a tip: before passing the string through the hole on the saddle/bridge , shape the string end into a hook--- like a J or U shape. When you pass it through the hole the end will stick up where you can grab it. Makes it a lot easier. These are awesome guitars just like Hoodio said. The Squier Bullet Teles are also very good.

    There’s a lot to be said for having a simple guitar. And a one that’s easy to play. Fender/Squire have been in the game a long time.. Maybe they just know what they’re doing. Great vid! I think I want one..

    I have one in Surf Green. I like it. Mine was the display model at guitar center. The one I initially bought was brand new, in the box. When I got home with it I opened the box and unpacked it, then plugged it into my Fender Champion 50 XL amp. There was a problem with the bridge pickup. It kept cutting off while I was playing. Tried it on my Fender Mustang 1 V2 amp. Same thing. Took it back to GC. The only Surf Green one they had was the display one. So I took it. I changed the strings on it to a new set of D'Addario 9's. It plays good. I did have to do a truss rod adjustment on it. It's easy and fun to play. I am thinking about getting another one in the Imperial White color.

    I bought that Mustang in Surf Green back when it was $129 on sale. I modded it & put a humbucker-sized P90 in the neck. I also replaced the bridge pickup with a much lower output - 7.5 Ohms - Alnico II humbucker, and I love the sound variations. I also replaced the tuners with Gotohs. And I did have to file the fret ends down a little bit. It’s a fast, easy playing, fun guitar now.

      How much did that setup end up costing you? If it’s more than an expensive guitar, would it be better to get an expensive guitar instead of paying for a lot of setups?

    • @yobanyhernandez125
      @yobanyhernandez125 3 роки тому +4

      @@arigreen5845 honestly, any guitar you buy it’s a must to get a set up. Even more so if it’s an expensive guitar because you want them to play at there best. Also any guitar is worth modding since you might want things that are not commonly found. For example I modded one of my guitars to have a push push (instead of push pull) switch to run the neck pickup in series (like a single coil sound but no hum) ☺️ the most important part of the guitar is how it feels in your hands when you play it, the sound of the pickups can always be changed. (Tone wood doesn’t matter for electrics)

    I have this guitar, the right forearm contour is perfect but I whish it did not have the belly cut. Maybe you don't agree but let me explain my rationale: when I play standing, when I firmly secure the guitar with the right forearm, pressing it against my body, the belly cut makes the guitar top turn a bit to my face, as I I were cheating looking at the strings, instead of being parallel to my body (or vertical). I don't like that.
    The second thing is that the guitar has neck dive, maybe not so extreme but it has. Just lift the guitar with just the index finger on the center of the bottom cut, the headstock will fall.

    I have a Bullet Mustang-90 (mod job) and a new Sonic Mustang SS. They actually got rid of the body contour cuts on the Sonic. It's just a flat slab on both sides now. I don't notice much of a difference when playing them. The Bullet/Sonic Mustangs are designed to mimic the Fender Player Mustang, so I guess getting rid of the contours made it more true to the Fender Player.

    Great vid. I will simply not play a guitar without contours and a tummy cut. I grew up playing mostly strats and even though I never thought about it most of the time I really couldn't play any other kind of guitar. I demand contours. It's a must. I find slabs very uncomfortable. Without an arm cutaway you have the edge of the body digging into your arm. That's not good for ergonomics. A belly cutaway is also a must whether you're a sumo wrestler or flat as a washboard. A light weight is also wonderful. I learned long ago I could not gig with a Les Paul.

They start to form then go to bed to wake up with them 90-100% gone. It gets so bad that when I try to practise it feels like I am playing on razor blades and immediately have to stop. So much pain I am seven months in, and you wouldn't know that I wasn't in my first week. I play 10s, and I wonder if 8s would help at all? If the 8s I have on order (arrives in a couple to three weeks) don't work out would this 24in, or a 3/4, help? Hand size is 6.75in wrist to the longest fingertip, and hand spread is tip of pinky to tip of thumb is 8 inches if I really stretch out to the point of almost hurting.

      @@Jay-bird154 I went to the local GC last evening and touched it. Now being a beginner I haven't much of a clue, but not being a rank newb I have a bit more of a clue. Nice feeling neck for sure and reminded me a lot of the Ibanez ones though theirs is even thinner. I had this guy who was messing around with his friend on a bass who picked up a guitar next to me. I dove in as I saw his hands. We talked for a minute, and his friend was a drummer, and he was the bassist, but they were branching out. I had him try the mini strat, and he liked it. I then had him try this guitar, and he loved it. He, and I have the same sized hands width wise and his is about 1/8 of an inch longer than mine (we went palm to palm to measure) so pretty much the same (though he has calluses and I don't). With his hands being about mine, and him being a rank guitar newb I saw what he was doing.
      I noticed the action is far lower than my current Squier Strat, the neck is about 1/4in thinner, and being 12 in radius versus 9.5 in it felt more natural. I would have purchased it right then, but it was a floor model. I will be ordering it in the morning. Will it help? I don't know, but I will say I really liked the neck spacing of the mini, but the Mustang just felt better overall. Going from Am to Cm on the mini was far easier than on the Mustang, but the Mustang was just barely easier than a standard. If the 22.5in mini didn't have standard E issues that demanded 13 gauge strings I probably would have that instead.
