I enjoy Emma as adult Rhaenyra, but damn I wished we got more of Milly. She was simply on fire as young Rhaenyra. If only the whole season was just the first cast.
Milly sooo fine as Targaryen. She legit got the perfect features and rebellious fiery attitude for it. Her hair looked grown on, it painted on that’s how natural she slipped into the role.
I was so damn pissed when episode 6 started 😢

Exactly. Emmy D'Arcy is a bad recast of Milly, tbh. They look nothing alike except the Targaryen hair
matt smith is seriously one of the most underated actors out there at the moment, from playing one the most beloved doctor who's, to playing a complex character with no precedant and doing it almost perfectly, its a mystery to me how its taken this long for him to get a big mainstream role like this

even when they're just casually talking their chemistry is off the chart. the casting is incredible 👌👌👌
For the past two episodes, Milly Alcock has been brilliant as Rhaenyra and stealing scenes from veteran actors. In my opinion, her not being in the whole season and probably not season 2 is the best possible thing to happen for her career, ensuring her availability for other endeavors. I look forward to seeing her bright talent in her remaining episodes and future roles!
That's true, she got the exposure and nailed her performance and isn't burdened by having to be in the role for a long time
She was fantastic in Upright, so it was great to see her land a role like this with so much exposure.
Emilia Clarke's acting wasn't as convincing in comparison.
She's not done playing a Targ quite yet.....
With all the time jumps you could assume she may be back for flashbacks in future seasons , hopefully

this is exactly what I was thinking. She looks like a Targaryen/Valyrian. There's something about her face that looks very distinct.

The first series I saw Matt Smith in was The Crown as Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh. I thought he was so good in that role. Now he's killing it as Prince Daemon!
Nothing against Emma D'arcy, but I really wanted Milly to play the Rhaenyra the entire show.
Milly doesn't look like a mother of three, let alone five. And even with aging editing, her petite body will not fit the motherly mature vibes that an older Rhaenyra should have.
We haven't even seen Emma in the role yet, despite the fact that they were actually cast before Milly. Rhaenyra was ALWAYS Emma's role. And they need an older actor because the story takes place in the timespan of 30 years. I think we should reserve judgement until we see Emma in the role - the casting so far has been great, so I'm sure they'll be fantastic.
It would be nice if Milly continues in flashbacks peppered throughout the series.

I feel so sorry for Matt Smith because of Morbius. He honestly carried that movie on his shoulders and was the only redeemable thing about it. So stoked for him to get an actual role he can shine with.
Hopefully he will get EMMY nomination second time for this role Daemon, after The Crown.

It feels so weird cuz that film was only popular for the memes, the box office ain't even ringing. The casual audience still knows Matt as the 11th Doctor and Prince Philip, now more casuals will know him as Daemon. Social media is just too weird.
He overplayed that villain role. Almost a cartoon character, but that had much to do with the writing and direction.

I have been in the same room as Matt Smith. He was such a lovely person. Glad that his career is going strong.
If I kept watching the series at the beginning, 90% it was because of HER, such a stroooong young princess!! I was soo sad when she left. And him, oh boy, he is wicked! Best characters in the show, no question about. (other than the Dragons, of course!)
They're both so engaging and smart. Matt Smith is a hoot - and it's awesome how he can turn around and play a hedonistic, murderous, conspiring Targaryan so convincingly.

@@rachiejw I've never seen her in anything before this unlike Matt Smith. I have nothing to judge her acting ability on but I do know one thing. HBO casting is second to none and they wouldn't let someone on unless they thought they were perfect for said role.

Emilia was an okay actress, people just liked her because of the dragons. She is a very one face actress . Milli on the other hand has more personality and is a better actress.
Have you seen the reviews? Most of them are praising both Math and Milly’s performances, they will definitely be the standouts. Shame we only get her for 5 episodes because everyone I have seen have said she is amazing on this role.
And unfortunately the source material states Rhaenyra isn’t some glamour girl. She’s not beautiful like Daenerys as she grows up. Not saying older rhaenyra isn’t beautiful in her own right, she’s just got more of a harsh beauty.
I’ve seen people saying they want her fatter and others saying she’s not pretty enough. She was always going to get hate either way.

I LOVE Matt Smith, but know nothing about Millie Alcock thus far, but from what I'm seeing of her here, I think I'm going to love her. She's so adorable, beautiful and she definitely gives me slight Dany vibes. I can def see her being her ancestor. I'm so hyped for HotD!
I also love Millie... that she got drunk after getting the part was soo nice and wholesome! I got a big smile on my face during the episode, after the queen died and they started arguing at the council!Not wanting to give up their seats of power!
@@bernhardtsen74 The last 3/4s of the episode gave me chills. I looked down at my bare legs and they had goosebumps. This world felt so familiar, yet so different. Maesters without chains, fashions are different, which I loved, since that's the nature of time. Millie, Matt and Paddy were amazing and I am already invested. And hearing old Rickon Stark and that Got theme song made me tear up. Gods, it's been too long!!

I think current rhyneras actress is amazing but really wish they had stretched out the seasons so Milly could grow into adult rhynera. That’s what made GoT so special because we got to see them all grow up into their roles.
