Hey Charles, good to hear from you! I really enjoyed my time with Outward when it first launched, initially I bought it because it’s an open world adventure game that you can play couch coop Split-Screen! My girlfriend and I had a great time with it. It’s a very challenging game, almost more of an adventure sim. As you have to manage your food, water, inventory management, face changing weather conditions and more. Even the smallest enemies can be dangerous, a bite from a hyena could lead to disease, and other open wounds can get infected if not treated. But it’s because of all of this that allows it to provide such a rewarding experience. They’ve announced a sequel, and I can’t wait to dive into it!
I would say it shares a few things in common with Elex and other open world games, but very different. Unlike traditional games where you play as the “chosen one”, or “the hero”, in outward you’re just a regular guy that got stuck with a large debt from your parents to pay back to your town, as your parents sadly perished in a shipwreck
