What's truly horrific is that I don't think a single person commenting about this has asked : "WTH is America's bottomless and voracious appetite for drugs doing to the people of these countries controlled by cartels? The buck starts and stops here, if the truth is to be known. There needs to be a massive paradigm shift in how America deals with the border issue, and that begins with acknowledging our part in enabling cartel violence by FUNDING and ARMING cartel violence through off-the-chart drug purchases. WE'RE THE PROBLEM!

A few years into this trend of women murdered in Mexico (the count was at about 300 at the time), two of my friends went to Juarez. The female (dark hair, dark skin, beautiful, slender, speaks fluent Spanish) ran out of cigarettes in the middle of the night, so she walked to a nearby convenience store (Johnny sleeps very soundly). She started talking to a couple of guys fixing a car, & they convinced her to get in the car with them. At some point there were several other men in the car & they had taken her out of the city. I forget the details, but she managed to get away. The local police shrugged it off, so she & Johnny cut their trip short & asked me to meet them at the hospital. She asked me to go into the exam room with her, so I saw that every centimeter of her body was bruised, and one or two of her ribs were fractured! I have no doubt that she would have been added to that list of bodies if she hadn't been able to hurt the leader of the pack, or whatever she did to escape. I feel like my heart is in my stomach every time I hear about this case since then. Thank you for helping me understand it better.

Just a correction: El Paso wasn’t destroyed by violence and drugs the way Juarez was, like you’ve stated. In fact, El Paso is perfectly safe and we live our lives normally just like any other city. When Juarez was at its worse, even then El Paso was one of the safest cities in the US. Actually, even Juarez nowadays is not nearly as dangerous as it used to be, it was pretty bad for a bit and we were always advised not to visit but more and more people are crossing over to Juarez again for fun and are safe. That being said, a lot of people still don’t trust it and try to either stay in El Paso or be really careful in Juarez.

That’s ridiculous, it was/is Mexican nationals kidnapping/selling kids & young women to other Mexican nationals.
Just like the drug business, Mexico’s hands are dirty.
Demand for drugs doesn’t excuse your immoral behavior of earning a quick buck, at another human’s expense.
And many Mexicans can’t handle the truth, that their countrymen, their papas, tíos, primos, etc are the ones causing all of the violence & pain in the country.

I saw a film or series on TV about these women being murdered and I can't think the name of it. Does anyone know? Was it narcos or sicario?
I had no idea when I watched it that it was based in truth so would like to watch it again. I would really appreciate it if anyone can help.
