I feel like PS+ Extra is a pretty good value for people who have never owned a PlayStation 4/5 before and are just getting into this ecosystem. Which is basically the same argument I would make for Game Pass on Xbox. I have never owned an Xbox before, so a Series S with Game Pass would be the perfect way for me to instantly gain access to everything exclusive to the Xbox ecosystem, plus a bunch of good extras. Comparatively, PS+ Extra has more gaps, but I don't think those are an issue when there are still like 50+ amazing PS4 and PS5 games that might interest you that you can put hundreds of hours into. At the same time, I am still very big on physical games, especially for big AAA games. That is the main reason why I am still on the fence about PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass and why I'll likely never get either service, even though I recognise and respect the value.

For someone (me) who just bought a PS5 and has virtually no library (yet), the Premium is a very good option. I've already got Game Pass Ultimate for my PC and Series X, and this will just compliment that, so I'm going to be grabbing a year of the Premium for this next week.
While adding new games on Premium per month is nice, one HUGE feature they could include is the ability to download and play OUR personal library of PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP and PSVita games we've built up since the beginning of PlayStation Network and PlayStation Store unto our PS4/PS5. There were rumors about that feature circulating the web ever since the PS Plus revamp was announced, so hopefully this becomes legit in the coming months.

Just to talk about Vib Ribbon this video already deserves respect. Honestly, I currently prefer the Playstation Plus catalog instead of GamePass, there are just more things I like more on the Sony side, I just wanted the Streaming part to be available here in Brazil and have some interaction with Sony PC games.
Look, I only bought PlayStation Plus Premium because I wanted to stream Arkham Origins. I know they will never release a remastered version of it on PS4/PS5, so I was forced to buy this to stream it. 😂
Honestly, while there are a lot of games in there, there’s even more missing that probably should’ve been included, especially with the classics. The streaming stuff won’t be for everyone either. I want them to add some more when they can, make it more abundant like Game Pass does. And getting more games included around launch would be great. For the $100 a year, you could argue it’s an alternative to buying two full priced games within that year.
The 2nd tier has been worth it for me but the top tier only meant I could play toy story 2 😂 I’m trying to commit to only playing what’s available to me, and now any time I consider buying something I just think well if I wait I won’t have to buy it. Similar to not seeing Disney films in cinema because they’re on + in 2 months
As a new PS5 owner who skipped the PS4 gen this is definitely a great value. Especially since I don't have as much time to game these days. But for those who really want to own their content or have already played a lot of PS4 games probably won't find as much value.
I only got my PS4 last Fevruary and haven't play and finished a single game on the system largely because I have so many games I still want to finish on my Xbox One. That said I do find a lot of value from this service as I now have immediate access to so many games that I can play anytime.
The wrong time to choose for a playstation. I understand that you would go for a playstation, because they won the previous generation, but it is easy to say that they will not be the best console anymore in the long run.
@@ReallyControversial I'm an adult with enough money to buy any console I want lmaooo. So for one I don't care about console war nonsense. Also, why are you trying to make people feel bad about what system they bought??? Weird response.
Personally I just don't think tiered subscription plans for these services will ever make sense for me. I'm currently no longer subscribed to PS+, and gradually backing away from the whole Sony ecosystem, and this just makes the baseline service seem even less worth it than it already was. There is already a very low ceiling on what a person should be willing to pay for "access" to a library, the whole value proposition is it's a reasonable flat fee to a wide library at your fingertips (like what Netflix was in its prime), and the already steep price for PS+ was choked down anyway because it was kinda mandatory for so many online experiences, but as soon as you start offering more for a higher price the logical thought quickly becomes "well why don't I just put that money towards outright buying the games that interest me?" Sure they can keep building it bigger and better over time, but all that's doing is increasing the amount of games I couldn't possibly get around to playing. A game I bought sitting on my shelf is never going to disappear, be delisted, auto-charge me after a certain amount of time, but will peacefully stay there forever for whatever eventual day I feel like playing it.

While I don't usually buy games digitally, the fact that I can hypothetically buy a ps1 game on ps3 or psp and get it on PS5 at no additional cost is great.
You know what...for 14£ premium is awesome...has so many great titles that u can't get on extra..it's like having a betamax back when VHS was out...pay the extra..if u buy two ps games in a year ...save your money and play them fro free here..granted total brand new games if u don't mind waiting a bit then even more reason to get this ..the library of games on offer is huuuuuuggge....well worth the penny's.
I have too many games on Wii U, XBOXOne, PS4 and PS5… so many unplayed games… I simply can’t justify more money for games. If money were no object, I’d go but my collection is too vast
Imagine if they brought Vib-Ribbon to the service but went in and altered the game to integrate with Spotify instead of CDs. Would be a bit of work but goddamn it would be awesome.
My two problems with playstation 1. They refused to do crossplay because "Playstation Is the best way to play" But they eventually did 2. They seem to be downright disrespectful to their legacy with Jim Ryan's "Why would anyone play this" comment and even now when they do trailers for this service they only show new games But this Is a fix I have been wanting, lets show Sony we care about classic games 50hz PS1 Is a shame but not something I notice personally, played some PS2 games I never would have before, PSP games on the big screen Is incredible, I missed out on this library so It's great to see and I was surprised by the PS4 games I didn't think I would look at, Doom 2016, tetris effect, world of final fantasy, I enjoyed these games
Not worth it, for me. I was wrongly informed that you can download all ps premium games and you can’t. My internet isn’t fast enough, with whole family, online. I mainly upgraded to play god of war 1 & 2 and they are unplayable.
Thanks for this video! As someone who grew up on PS1-PS4 but jumped over to Xbox for this gen, I was curious about the new PS+ stuff from the perspective of someone who actually has it. I personally couldn't remove myself from the feeling that this just combines PS+ with PS Now, but it looks like they've injected a decent amount of titles into the service to make it more than that. I'm not likely to own a PS5 anytime soon, but I still live in hope that they'll finally add all the Ratchet and Clank games to the service, and not just Crack in Time.
I'm definitely going to be getting an Xbox series s/x over a PlayStation 5 this generation if only because the PlayStation 5 is a bit too expensive at the moment even when it is available.
The ability to play Bolt and Ratatouille with premium made me drop a tear of nostalgic joy. Now if Sony gives premium users free access to Crunchyroll…
Just snagged extra for Stray and Stray alone. The game by itself is 30usd, while PSplus extra is 15. It's pretty slim pickins for other games to play after I finish stray, tbh. Maybe I'll play Batman Arkham Knight or the South Park butt game idk.
Good vid! Honestly loving the service as well! Never really saw the hate since premium is the same price as “plus” and “now” services combined. But maybe that is just a US thing.
My big recommend is War of the Monsters, a PS2 3D 1v1 fighting game where you’re two giant monsters beating each other up in a city, so many good memories of playing it as a kid
War of the monsters is awesome and maybe you’ve forgotten, but you can play 2v2s or 4 player free for all as well. Also think it’s worth mentioning that you can basically destroy the map while fighting, taking down a building with another monster on it was also very fun
Great video as always, still prefer to collect classic games physically but the PS+ extra seems like something i may get since it has a really good selection of games
I just bought a PS5. The last time I owned a PlayStation was when the PS3 was out. The PlayStation Premium is convenient for me since I missed out on a lot of exclusives. I’ve been wanting to play games like, “The Last of Us, Uncharted, God of War, Spider-Man etc. It’s time I take a hiatus from the Xbox.
I refuse to spring for the Premium until they add Einhander and Brave Fencer Musashi. I have a physical copy of Brave Fencer Musashi but, sadly the Army movers managed to damage my Einhander disk.
I think its well worthit for me, there always that ability to play trial before buying a 90$ games plus there always saving on the games you buy . There also the free games , they are not all great but cool to play them whenever.
the most glaring issue is that the ps extra games can be locked. what's concerning is that you can buy add ons snd dlc while playing the games and then they are locked without further access. i haven't seen expiration dates on any games i've downloaded, but there are.
There is expiration dates . All mine were locked From last year . Which you have to go through and delete each one from the main screen and library. Pain in the ass
Not a fan of subscription service and won't be subscribing but at least Sony lets you buy the classic games on it's own. Something that Nintendo could learn to copy.
There is a massive issue with this service. Where is Drakengard, hm? In other words, there is a metric fuque-tonne of PS2 titles STILL unavailable. There do happen to be people that have shelves full of ps2 discs that aren’t playable because their hardware finally failed and their ps3 is the wrong model. Until that ENTIRE GENERATION is addressed, this will continue to be an utter failure.

In my opinion I think the Premium tier as a horrendous deal however the Extra tier is genuinely decent. Some great titles on the service however from a modern gamer standpoint game pass is leagues better. Gamepass has more bigger titles as well as more day 1 titles.
I'd consider it, but Sony doesn't allow me to change my account region, so it would be too expensive as is. So I'd rather stick with GPU for a few years to enjoy that first (I just got a Series S). Then I'll see how the service is doing
Until PS3 games can be played locally, extra it is for me. Extra is very much worth it in the meantime and I'll get a month of premium here and there if I want to play a few games unless it's just one or two which I'd buy separately.
Looking at it as a subscription service, I think there's quite a lot of value from the perspective of number of games. I still have a major issue with requiring a subscription to access online play, and really lament how every console now does this, compared to PC or older platforms like the 3DS or PS3 - out of principle, I refuse to subscribe to any of them for that reason alone.
Playstation Plus Premium is the ultimate slippery slope trap. "If you were going to pay $100 a year to get all the ps4/ps5 games, why not throw in an extra $20 to get all the retro stuff too?" In other words, like old Nintendo Switch Online, the question is less "Is it good?" and more "Is it worth $20 a year?"

The cloud gaming alone is worth it for me I hope they add more games to it.
I just want them to add mgr revengeance and ff13. Sony should have remastered them by now
The 2nd tier has been worth it for me but the top tier only meant I could play toy story 2 😂
I’m trying to commit to only playing what’s available to me, and now any time I consider buying something I just think well if I wait I won’t have to buy it. Similar to not seeing Disney films in cinema because they’re on + in 2 months
Im new to your video and i just wow at your voice 😮❤

Never owned a PlayStation so for me extra makes a lot of sense. I also got the digital only for PS5. For anything else I have my PC. PS+ Extra for me.

WELL MAYBE I WILL !!
While I don't personally see myself joining the subscription service, I'll definitely be buying classic games individually.
While I don't usually buy games digitally, the fact that I can hypothetically buy a ps1 game on ps3 or psp and get it on PS5 at no additional cost is great.
Nintendo- “wait, that’s illegal”.
It’s been 4 months now. And for premium all they’ve given us is psp games and 1 or 2 ps1 games. So at the moment I’d say no it isn’t worth it
You know what...for 14£ premium is awesome...has so many great titles that u can't get on extra..it's like having a betamax back when VHS was out...pay the extra..if u buy two ps games in a year ...save your money and play them fro free here..granted total brand new games if u don't mind waiting a bit then even more reason to get this ..the library of games on offer is huuuuuuggge....well worth the penny's.
My two problems with playstation
1. They refused to do crossplay because "Playstation Is the best way to play"
But they eventually did
2. They seem to be downright disrespectful to their legacy with Jim Ryan's "Why would anyone play this" comment and even now when they do trailers for this service they only show new games
But this Is a fix I have been wanting, lets show Sony we care about classic games
50hz PS1 Is a shame but not something I notice personally, played some PS2 games I never would have before, PSP games on the big screen Is incredible, I missed out on this library so It's great to see
and I was surprised by the PS4 games I didn't think I would look at, Doom 2016, tetris effect, world of final fantasy, I enjoyed these games
Not worth it, for me. I was wrongly informed that you can download all ps premium games and you can’t. My internet isn’t fast enough, with whole family, online. I mainly upgraded to play god of war 1 & 2 and they are unplayable.
Once the Sonic games come back, it could be more enticing to me, but the fact that it's streamed is kinda a turnoff for me
Thanks for this video!
Or Funimation. It's better than Crunchyroll
@@unicorntomboy9736 funimation is no more no new shows are being added to crunchyroll is the man source
The problem is you still have to stream ps3 games.
Bring over freedom wars and I’ll buy premium in a heartbeat
The best thing about this video is letting people know how great the Toy Story 2 game was.
fun fact: apparently in Latin America the Premium tier doesn't exist, there's a Deluxe tier that's like Premium except that you can't stream PS3 games
Nicely done Jon!
Just snagged extra for Stray and Stray alone. The game by itself is 30usd, while PSplus extra is 15. It's pretty slim pickins for other games to play after I finish stray, tbh. Maybe I'll play Batman Arkham Knight or the South Park butt game idk.
I am very upset that Gravity Rush 2 is included in extra but you need the premium tier for GR1 remastered. Ridiculous!
Eh at least Crash 4 is available as a free download on all tiers this month. I've been waiting for a sale on that one since launch.
One of my favorite childhood games hands down
Great video as always, still prefer to collect classic games physically but the PS+ extra seems like something i may get since it has a really good selection of games
The gravity rush music ♥️
The more classic games, the better!
That Last Guardian box you have is gorgeous
I refuse to spring for the Premium until they add Einhander and Brave Fencer Musashi. I have a physical copy of Brave Fencer Musashi but, sadly the Army movers managed to damage my Einhander disk.
The extra tier seems to be the right choice, at least for me right now.
PS Plus Extra is the tipping point that finally got me to cave in and get a PS5. A bunch of a PS4 games I missed out on? Yes please.
Video aside I definitely recommend the WD black ssd. I have a 500gb one and it does the job.
Not a fan of subscription service and won't be subscribing but at least Sony lets you buy the classic games on it's own. Something that Nintendo could learn to copy.
Wd looks great..thanks..I'll be sure to buy one when I upgrade to ps5 .. thanks
Shovelware + a few good games you already own from 2015-2019
There is a massive issue with this service.
They can get a Ps2.
@@hurricane7727 Lmao, wut? Where? I'm dead serious here, because your trolling is exacerbating the real issue. The only NEW and thus RELIABLE equipment on the market is PS ONE. You wanna get all cheeky and quip 'they can buy a ps1' then you're within facts of reality. Ain't NOBODY getting their hands on ps2 capable hardware that wasn't manufactured 2+ generations ago and has been used [and very likely ABUSED] for most of those years.

You really should be the voice of the new Darth Vader.
In my opinion I think the Premium tier as a horrendous deal however the Extra tier is genuinely decent. Some great titles on the service however from a modern gamer standpoint game pass is leagues better. Gamepass has more bigger titles as well as more day 1 titles.
I would rather just outright download some of these PS1 2 and 3 games
Jon just mentioned Dark Cloud. THIS IS NOT A DRILL!
Nooo . Not enough of classic games. The library is endless for them. They need to pump 10 games a month for awile for me to get exited
Rip losers who bought any tier of PS+ except essential which shouldn't even exist.
You're like "Netflix: Sandman" of Games.
They need to add the PS Vita games to Premium
Quite a few of the games I already have on ps4 through playstion plus over the years
Finally, some gravity rush appreciation
Glad there's finally ps5 games on the service
Looking at it as a subscription service, I think there's quite a lot of value from the perspective of number of games. I still have a major issue with requiring a subscription to access online play, and really lament how every console now does this, compared to PC or older platforms like the 3DS or PS3 - out of principle, I refuse to subscribe to any of them for that reason alone.
They put Stray as a day one on the game catalogue. Ngl didn't expect that
This man should be a voice actor
Playstation Plus Premium is the ultimate slippery slope trap.
"If you were going to pay $100 a year to get all the ps4/ps5 games, why not throw in an extra $20 to get all the retro stuff too?"
In other words, like old Nintendo Switch Online, the question is less "Is it good?" and more "Is it worth $20 a year?"
I still don't get why we're getting trials for a paid service
We shall see if it’s worth it!
My only question. Where is Sly Cooper?
the VMU killed me :')
4:3 feels so damn nostalgic to me.
do u get to keep the games on the ps plus premium or when time runs out u can't play anymore?
I been asking this too 👀 cause I want to buy TEKKEN 2 and not have to worry about them taking the game away from me if they take it then I rather just buy the game and keep it as a collection
2:03 Gravity Rush music😭
Bless the Gravity Rush music throughout
Really difficult for me to pay monthly for PS3 games I may never get to... I love them but a monthly subscription is absolutely going to make me feel OBLIGATED to play them and that's no gucci
Even though activision have the rights to crash. The original ps1 trilogy of both crash and spyro are exclusive to PlayStation. Never released outside of PlayStation
Spoiler ahead it’s not worth it

Nope.

PS Plus Extra is the best bang for you buck way better than WelfarePass
As of right now, no. Premium is not worth it at the moment given its asking price. However, the extra tier does have decent value and it's actually improved since then.
HELL NO since while I still only Play JRGPS the ONLY one that's available PS1 so far is of WILD arms 1 and Wild Arms 3 since the FF7 to 9 games via PS+ are that of the PS4 versions and not the PS1 versions.
Ps Plus Premium Japan has Jrpgs!
It’s not worth it because there’s a last chance to play for obviously the good games that u buy the premium plus for , so u don’t own the games when u should
