Premium offers initially good features, until you realize the scope of selection for the classic games, once the libraries are increased, it will great!
Extra is pretty much the sweet spot, lots of great games and although I feel it will be hard to keep pace with gamepass I'm just relieved that I have a library that will last a long time while all the heavy hitters slide into discount range.

Game Trials is the most powerful thing about Premium. Bring me back to those demo stations at the stores. Breaking your neck to try the latest game out at the time. If PlayStation really wants to stand against competition they would let anyone with at least the Extra subscription to experience Game Trials. If not all plans.

Yeah I'll be honest, I've had PS Plus and PS Now for at least two years, and I'll definitely say that PS Extra is the best value option here. PS Premium offers effectively the same as PS Now but less games. The game demos should be in the Extra tier instead of Premium. The streaming aspect is nowhere near as good as having downloaded titles, most won't want to play PS3 titles, let alone stream games that will have more frame dips than PS4 titles, and I have a really solid internet connection giving me anywhere from 6-30ms in online multiplayer titles. The Classic Games Catalogue is really small, offering a limited selection of PS1, PS2, and PSP games through both PS4 and PS5 versions to download. In theory if these offered trophies, you'd have both the PS4 and PS5 versions to play if you have a PS5. This also includes remasters of games and PS4 titles. I've been streaming Lego Star Wars The Complete Saga and there are noticeable screen glitches with movement and skipping. PS3 games are also streamed at 720p, which isn't ideal but it was the default resolution for the PS3 for almost every game. Would I get Premium again? Personally no, since it's £100 for a year for an insane amount of titles but the games are so old that you're missing out on the latest experiences. I feel Extra offers the current titles for a great price. It just depends on how much time you wish to spend gaming and whether or not you have the latest titles on your mind or have the classic titles revolving around your gaming experience.
Extra is definitely the best for many people because it saves a lot of money. I have the digital edition, but if I had gotten disc edition, I could BUY physical CD of these games from resellers But paying for Extra, I am saving so much money than if I had just bought the physical copies of these games. Premium definitely has potential.. in the future. It needs time for a bigger catalogue of classics. And I also want to be able to stream PS5 games, not just PS4 or older. Remote Play is a thing for PC.. but it feels a bit janky.
@@rayadisurya7343 Nothing is forever. You can lose physical CD's or they can become damaged. Also, the games you get in Extra are pretty much forever. Even if you stop paying for PS+ for 5 years or something, those games will still be there when you do subscribe. Also, my comment was 8 months ago and I mentioned how the Extra catalogue wasn't big enough, but now the catalogue is pretty damn solid.

I just recently bought another PS4 after my original one stopped working almost a decade ago. I missed a lot of stuff in the time I was gone and had a whole list of things I wanted to buy now that I have a working one. I accidentally clicked on the PS Plus tab on the PS4 menu today and took a look around and basically every game I had on the list was being offered on there so buying the Premium membership was the easiest decision ever. Now I have like 20 games queued up to download. Final Fantasy VII Remake alone makes it worth the price. I had planned on going to buy it this afternoon and now I don’t have to. It’s such a good deal for someone new (or returning) to PS4 that it almost feels illegal.
The premium option is 60 euro extra on top of the mandatory plus subscription. It think it great value for money. Buying one new game like tloa remake, sets you back 70 euro's for a game we already played multiple times on multiple platforms. I like the trial period option. It no fun when you actually put money down for a game you immediately hate to play. Only thing that potential could suck is when your favourite game is deleted from the menu, and you can't play it anymore. Specially the older platform games. I would like to see the 007 bond games added also the tomb raider games. Played the pirates of the carribian and the monotonous way of slaying enemies and the blurred vision on the screen made me stop.

The Premium Tier I would have jumped on instantly, if the PS3 Games was Downloadable rather than just straight up Streaming, so I went for the Extra Tier, having PS5 Games like Demon Souls, Returnal and Spider-Man: Miles Morales plus other quality PS4 Titles just made a No Brainer really. Biomutant by the way is a really fun Game, it's gotten alot of stick but if you can get into it, it's really cool overall.
I might be wrong but I read somewhere the ps5 is built on a different architecture, meaning it is impossible for them to put ps1-ps3 games on the ps5 as downloadable, and the only option is streaming.

@@Obsrange5176 PS1 and PS2 games don't run on PS5 through streaming, they use emulation. Also the PS3 is not impossible to emulate on systems with enough power but it is very difficult.
I have a question. Are Games like demon souls and spider man: miles morales only available for you to download when you have the extra subscription? Or can you also buy/play those titels with only plus or no subscription at all?
I'm paying 21.95 a month for Ps Deluxe, it doesn't even bring EA. XBOX: $15 a month and it brings Game Pass + EA. Playstation is Falling real short and it's expensive
Really hope they add Silent Hill 1-4 and the rest of the original Resident Evil titles. Funny thing is I own them all on disc, and yet playing touched up versions of these classics is enough to persuade me.
As someone who just newly got a ps5 and haven’t played any of the exclusives, premium actually looks the best at least for the first year. I’ll be able to play some of the older games a never played as well as the new games. For the first year I’m definitely thinking going premium, then maybe downgrading to extra depending if they make big changes or not.
I’m currently on extra right now as I think it’s the best option for what I’m after as there’s a few ps5/4 games I haven’t played before . Plus I’m guessing sly cooper is gonna be revealed some time this year as it’s not included in premium
As someone who skipped the PS4 era entirely and has a whole generation of games to get on track, I think I'll stick to Essentials and try the PlayStation Plus Collection. Once I'm done with that, I'll upgrade to Extra. I don't think I'll need Premium.

What happens if you buy extra while you still have essential active for another 2 months? Is that just wasted money or does it charge you proportionately?
Considering just how price gouged the early PlayStation games are, I hope we get a ton of PS1 and PS2 games added. Simpsons Hit and Run for example runs close to $60 USD when the game should run no more than $20 USD given just how many copies sold!
I'm continuing my PS plus 💙 subscription from last year so I've been migrated to PS+ Essential but the PS+ Extra looks like the best bang for my buck, will upgrade once my current plan ends.

Very good Informative video. I only just realised things have changed as I haven't been on my ps4 for a few months. I was hoping one day they would merge ps now with ps plus considering Xbox ultimate, so I'm glad they have done it now. Some of those classic games would be of interest to me, but aside from cloud gaming the ps extra seems the more like for like to Xbox ultimate and for basically the same price too. That's sold it for more really. Put that extra couple quid towards content ha.
I had ps now and plus before so now I automatically got Premium and I will say, despite the few cool features like game trials, overall its hard to recomend it right now. The only major thing you would be missing with Extra is the classic catalog, but outside of the ps3 games theres barely anything there, so theres not really a reason to worry about that, besides, a few classic games are available as their remasters on Extra. If I were to recomend a plan it would be Extra, 100%. You get a huge amount of games for a very reasonable price and still get the monthly games from the essential plan which means... well.... more games! Not saying Premium is bad, I just dont think its worth it right now, but theres a chance it will get better in the next year or so, but unless thats the case, I will change to Extra once my Premium plan gets to an end
I think the game trials are a really important feature. It has saved me already a couple hundred dollars. Trying out games I wanted, then realising they were pretty trash. So to me its definitely worth the $20 extra. Plus they have quite a few ps4 titles i wanted that are not available with the extra tier. Thats dependant on person obviously. I think they should give newer release games to the premium tier for maybe a month before it goes in the games catalogue.
Was kinda hoping there would be more psp games ngl as I love that console and there was many great games for it but I'm guessing there will be more in the future also I'm hoping they add the original gran turismo games and maybe the getaway games fingers crossed 🤞🤞
As I’ve just mentioned in another video on this subject I download the trail of F1 23 last night and I currently don’t have any PS+ subscription so why would I need the higher tier subscription ???? Also I managed to get a physical copy of F1 23 for just £21 which I bought last night from Amazon and it arrived this morning
I was extremely lucky in that a couple years ago I stacked my PS Plus up to mid 2025 for $40 CAN per year including taxes...after which I had tried PS Now for a year and it was set to expire June 16/22 and I was not going to renew it. Even though I was not going to continue my PS Now subscription and had it set not to renew, Sony gave me PS Plus Premium until mid 2025. I slipped in by 3 days!!! In hindsight, I was already thinking I should have stacked my PS Plus for even more years, even before the announcement of the new PS Plus plans, given the yearly subscription price was so good at the time...and now I wish it even more so... Having said that, I am extremely thankful for what I do have.

I have 2 questions: 1- With the premium version, do I need to have the physical PlayStation box to do some cloud streaming, or I can play the games I wish (with-in the catalog) without the need of having the physical box (just like I can do with Microsoft cloud gaming)? 2- the games available to stream play are only the ones available to ps1,2 and 3 or it includes also the ones for PS4 and PS5? There were 2 particular games that I wanted in the classics catalog that are not there which if they were I would 100% get the premium package. But since they're not I just got the extra package because to me I feel that's worth it.
I have a question, will i be able to play the games I downloaded from the game catalogue when i had ps plus extra later on when i get the essential plan.
I got a PS5 recently and subscribed to PS Plus Premium. So far, that's good enough for me. There aren't enough trials to make Extra worth it and the catalogue of classic games, while certainly plentiful, are largely carried over from the old PS Now (with little to no difference in selection that I've seen). Plus, I don't find the streaming very reliable. But Premium? I'm loving Premium so far and I've really barely touched upon it yet. Being able to play Ghost of Tsushima and Bugsnax without paying more is great, as they're both games I've wanted to try. And there are others like Returnal that I've yet to play but intend to.

I really think extra is the best if you just bought a ps5 and wanna play some good exclusives like spiderman, ghost of Tsushima and returnal. Its not really worth it if you already have the big games on disc or purchased already.

I keep seeing people say it's just playstations version of Xbox game pass but Xbox you can play just about any game you want on your phone, tablet, or PC and don't have to have ever owned a Xbox console at all. Extra is it for me. It comes with all of the pros of essential but with the games catalogue. Premium needs a work around.

I accidentally clicked on the PS Plus tab on the PS4 menu today and took a look around and basically every game I had on the list was being offered on there so buying the Premium membership was the easiest decision ever. Now I have like 20 games queued up to download. Final Fantasy VII Remake alone makes it worth the price. I had planned on going to buy it this afternoon and now I don’t have to. It’s such a good deal for someone new (or returning) to PS4 that it almost feels illegal.
The premium option is 60 euro extra on top of the mandatory plus subscription. It think it great value for money. Buying one new game like tloa remake, sets you back 70 euro's for a game we already played multiple times on multiple platforms. I like the trial period option. It no fun when you actually put money down for a game you immediately hate to play. Only thing that potential could suck is when your favourite game is deleted from the menu, and you can't play it anymore. Specially the older platform games. I would like to see the 007 bond games added also the tomb raider games. Played the pirates of the carribian and the monotonous way of slaying enemies and the blurred vision on the screen made me stop.
I was gonna just ask my dad for essential plan but the if the extra has the classics the im getting extra😊

The Premium Tier I would have jumped on instantly, if the PS3 Games was Downloadable rather than just straight up Streaming, so I went for the Extra Tier, having PS5 Games like Demon Souls, Returnal and Spider-Man: Miles Morales plus other quality PS4 Titles just made a No Brainer really.
Biomutant by the way is a really fun Game, it's gotten alot of stick but if you can get into it, it's really cool overall.
I might be wrong but I read somewhere the ps5 is built on a different architecture, meaning it is impossible for them to put ps1-ps3 games on the ps5 as downloadable, and the only option is streaming.

@@Obsrange5176 PS1 and PS2 games don't run on PS5 through streaming, they use emulation. Also the PS3 is not impossible to emulate on systems with enough power but it is very difficult.
I have a question. Are Games like demon souls and spider man: miles morales only available for you to download when you have the extra subscription? Or can you also buy/play those titels with only plus or no subscription at all?
I'm paying 21.95 a month for Ps Deluxe, it doesn't even bring EA.
XBOX: $15 a month and it brings Game Pass + EA. Playstation is Falling real short and it's expensive
Really hope they add Silent Hill 1-4 and the rest of the original Resident Evil titles. Funny thing is I own them all on disc, and yet playing touched up versions of these classics is enough to persuade me.
As someone who just newly got a ps5 and haven’t played any of the exclusives, premium actually looks the best at least for the first year. I’ll be able to play some of the older games a never played as well as the new games. For the first year I’m definitely thinking going premium, then maybe downgrading to extra depending if they make big changes or not.
I’m currently on extra right now as I think it’s the best option for what I’m after as there’s a few ps5/4 games I haven’t played before . Plus I’m guessing sly cooper is gonna be revealed some time this year as it’s not included in premium

As someone who skipped the PS4 era entirely and has a whole generation of games to get on track, I think I'll stick to Essentials and try the PlayStation Plus Collection. Once I'm done with that, I'll upgrade to Extra. I don't think I'll need Premium.

My essential subscription is due July. I’ll prob go Extra. Cant see many games I actually want to play in premium. I also agree the trials should exist in the essential not premium. That doesn’t make any sense. Keep up the quality videos mate. 👍
What happens if you buy extra while you still have essential active for another 2 months? Is that just wasted money or does it charge you proportionately?
In Australia for an upgrade from essential to extra is $51.98 & our premium is called deluxe with is 70.89 for an upgrade
Considering just how price gouged the early PlayStation games are, I hope we get a ton of PS1 and PS2 games added. Simpsons Hit and Run for example runs close to $60 USD when the game should run no more than $20 USD given just how many copies sold!

You can keep them stored on your playstation, but won't be able to play them unless you buy them or renew your subscription

Very good Informative video. I only just realised things have changed as I haven't been on my ps4 for a few months. I was hoping one day they would merge ps now with ps plus considering Xbox ultimate, so I'm glad they have done it now. Some of those classic games would be of interest to me, but aside from cloud gaming the ps extra seems the more like for like to Xbox ultimate and for basically the same price too. That's sold it for more really. Put that extra couple quid towards content ha.

I had ps now and plus before so now I automatically got Premium and I will say, despite the few cool features like game trials, overall its hard to recomend it right now. The only major thing you would be missing with Extra is the classic catalog, but outside of the ps3 games theres barely anything there, so theres not really a reason to worry about that, besides, a few classic games are available as their remasters on Extra. If I were to recomend a plan it would be Extra, 100%. You get a huge amount of games for a very reasonable price and still get the monthly games from the essential plan which means... well.... more games! Not saying Premium is bad, I just dont think its worth it right now, but theres a chance it will get better in the next year or so, but unless thats the case, I will change to Extra once my Premium plan gets to an end

I think the game trials are a really important feature. It has saved me already a couple hundred dollars. Trying out games I wanted, then realising they were pretty trash. So to me its definitely worth the $20 extra. Plus they have quite a few ps4 titles i wanted that are not available with the extra tier. Thats dependant on person obviously. I think they should give newer release games to the premium tier for maybe a month before it goes in the games catalogue.

As I’ve just mentioned in another video on this subject I download the trail of F1 23 last night and I currently don’t have any PS+ subscription so why would I need the higher tier subscription ???? Also I managed to get a physical copy of F1 23 for just £21 which I bought last night from Amazon and it arrived this morning
I was extremely lucky in that a couple years ago I stacked my PS Plus up to mid 2025 for $40 CAN per year including taxes...after which I had tried PS Now for a year and it was set to expire June 16/22 and I was not going to renew it.
Even though I was not going to continue my PS Now subscription and had it set not to renew, Sony gave me PS Plus Premium until mid 2025.
I slipped in by 3 days!!!
In hindsight, I was already thinking I should have stacked my PS Plus for even more years, even before the announcement of the new PS Plus plans, given the yearly subscription price was so good at the time...and now I wish it even more so...
Having said that, I am extremely thankful for what I do have.

I have 2 questions: 1- With the premium version, do I need to have the physical PlayStation box to do some cloud streaming, or I can play the games I wish (with-in the catalog) without the need of having the physical box (just like I can do with Microsoft cloud gaming)? 2- the games available to stream play are only the ones available to ps1,2 and 3 or it includes also the ones for PS4 and PS5? There were 2 particular games that I wanted in the classics catalog that are not there which if they were I would 100% get the premium package. But since they're not I just got the extra package because to me I feel that's worth it.

I got a PS5 recently and subscribed to PS Plus Premium. So far, that's good enough for me. There aren't enough trials to make Extra worth it and the catalogue of classic games, while certainly plentiful, are largely carried over from the old PS Now (with little to no difference in selection that I've seen). Plus, I don't find the streaming very reliable.
But Premium? I'm loving Premium so far and I've really barely touched upon it yet. Being able to play Ghost of Tsushima and Bugsnax without paying more is great, as they're both games I've wanted to try. And there are others like Returnal that I've yet to play but intend to.

I already have most of the AAA titles on disc from the extra collection and I'm not really interested in playing retro games at the moment so it's a difficult one for me.
I really think extra is the best if you just bought a ps5 and wanna play some good exclusives like spiderman, ghost of Tsushima and returnal. Its not really worth it if you already have the big games on disc or purchased already.

We are just about to buy the PS5. Do these subscriptions mean that we don’t need to actually buy individual game CDs, or the online versions? We can just subscribe to one of the plans and we get access to all these games?
