I bought myself a bouquet of flowers 2 weeks ago and was overwhelmed with emotions I had to cry at an apartment stairway. Treat yourself with love folks, no one can love you more than yourself
We need self-help and self-love more than ever. If ever someone wants to end things, you think of recovering and moving on as quickly as you could. Then you focus on what's most important: that is love.
You are a fantastic listener and I really respect your ability to ask relevant and thoughtful questions, and to listen properly without interruption. It makes the podcast that much more authentic and enjoyable. Feels like we're listening to a conversation you would've had anyway.
This was wonderful! I enjoyed every second of it❤Thank you for the philosophical depth of this discussion about such a pivotal and controversial/trendy topic 🙏🏼
fantastic conversation, i usually dont comment on videos, but i really enjoyed this discussion i was struggling with the whole concept of self love and how to approach it and you guys really did brought a whole new perspective for me, combined with how well you put everything together - masterpiece, thank you guys for your work im looking forward for more, take care and thank you
Love is responsibility.A chore that needs to be loved(For me to appreciate good hygiene i have to shower, brush my teeth and eat healthy)There are requirements for me to be a loving person so how responsible are you?
Haven’t finished the vid yet or read all the comments - but here’s my bit. Bouncing off self love combining that with community love is essential. One cannot live without the other. I believe we can derive this from existential thinking. I’m going to die, thus my neighbours are too. Avoiding hedonism, we can use this line of thinking for compassionate ends. How could I squander your life, knowing it’s so finite? Even better how can I add value to those finite beings around me. This is the route of empathy I believe.
As someone who's not very educated when it comes to political/economic discourse, I found the confusion around society being built on scarcity to be confusing in itself. If we consider that every living being is at the whims of its environment, and that humans are in the unique position of: being well aware of our own mortality, understand the concept of environmental changes, and have a strong desire to maximize against mortality, then it kind of explains itself, no? Maybe I'm missing something, but we owe our success as a species to this scarcity-focused mindset. Is it not the sole reason for the agricultural revolution? To me it seems to be a pretty fundamental component of human nature. However, taking a look at evolution for 2 seconds, it's pretty obvious to see that just because something works, does not mean it's the optimal solution. IMO Sisyphus 55 did put it best when referencing how this scarcity mindset stems from a place of weakness and vulnerability. I'm not entirely convinced that any other system would work for us at a large scale--but that's likely out of ignorance due to the aforementioned lack of education in this area. However I do think "capitalism because humans bad" is far too reductive. "There are no solutions only compromises"--and the compromises in any alternatives are likely too great for society to stomach. With all of that said, the politics of it all felt a bit shoehorned. I couldn't help but roll my eyes at "is love under capitalism possible". I can appreciate the points made, but half of this conversation was a bit too abstract/esoteric for my liking. It's a shame that the discussion around trauma and self-love didn't show up until the end--could have driven the discussion in a more tangible direction. Regardless, I appreciate the video! Definitely an interesting and thought-provoking topic!
Oh the irony. Being a person without "the time" to barely keep up on SySaphus55's UA-cam content when the world used to stop for me when a new video of theirs dropped.
When a person loves God, the whole Universe, our planet, nature, animals and other humans (it’s easier to start loving your friends and family and then extend it), self-love comes naturally. How you cannot love yourself when you have such wonderful people in your life who love you? They cannot love an unworthy person.
Is it gone? I didn't get to watch it... I get it, though. If it was something they were going through, maybe it just wasn't, idk, something that they wanted there anymore?? Idk
i love the podcasts, but i truly miss the typical digestible 10-20 minute videos. it feels like they are rarer now. it kind of feels as if the podcasts don't fit the channel. I truly love sisyphus and his content dearly, not trying to hate as i appreciate all of the work put into his content, just voicing an opinion here
She is hell bent on defying capitalism n associating everything with it by definining capitalism for what it is in theory but the things she believes in she is taking a nuanced mindset which i think is not fair
36:13 Capitalism is based on the free exchange of goods. To gain something you need to offer something that the other party perceives as having greater value than what he offers. That is a reflection of how healthy love works. You give a part of yourself to the loved one expecting that they will do the same for you in due time. In this exchange both parties need to perceive the part they have received as holding greater value than what they have given. That's how wealth is generated. Your views on capitalism aren't grounded in reality but tainted by marxist theory and the dehumanization of people with wealth.
I had a strong initial negative reaction to this comment but I think you do make a very valid point and the fact that I felt so much discomfort goes to show where my biases currently lie, and it's probably a good idea to challenge my thoughts and engage in a friendly conversation about this in order to learn more. Perhaps it's not capitalism that's the culprit, but the centralization of power to a small few and the lack of more local knowledge? Seems like a lot of the ill will in the world comes about when someone's voice isn't heard or is missunderstood or even ignored or intentionally silenced, so maybe a more decentralized form of government and economy would help to give people more say when it comes to deciding how a lot of the issues that actually have an immediate effect on their lives are handled and make more people feel like they can actually change their circumstances and make the option of engaging in the individual grind for money and status in order to escape the downsides of not having power to do certain things that more wealthy people do have less appealing? I'd like to hear your or other people's thoughts in general about this.
I went to check if there were any comments regarding this. Found this part of the discussion to be very lacking. Love is very subjective and not dependent on some political structure. Yes, i can see the point that neocapitalism creates these issues, i completely agree with that. Still, imo capitalism should be viewed as a tool. It's a tool for growth, but can also be a tool for love through cooperation and contribution to society. Them talking in such broad terms with such confidence just shows a lack of understanding...
To add to the discussion: it seems to me more accurate to say that scarcity is the state of things in a society with a materialistic worldview. If we didn’t feel like we constantly needed more stuff, we would probably not feel like resources are scarce; this comes back to their discussion of the importance of self-acceptance and being satisfied to a certain extent with your current self in order to love yourself. Capitalism as it exists today definitely seems to be pushing a materialistic worldview- advertising exists bc of the profit motive, and advertising often convinces us that more stuff will solve our problems/ make us happy. I don’t know enough about economics to say whether materialism is central to capitalism but not other potential systems- maybe that’s up for debate. Maybe the needed nuance here was just whether a feeling of scarcity comes necessarily out of all forms of capitalism, or just the current one we live with. 🤷🏻
What is love? God showed us his love by sacrificing himself so that by his death we may live Christ died for our sins, was buried, rose again the third day, accept this truth and you shall not perish but have everlasting life

I self-love usually once a day. Sometimes two if I'm in a good mood. Oh, you meant something else.

Never mistake love for idolatry. Love can never exist in too much abundance. It is, by nature, a limitless resource.
