The Queen calls Daphne “Flawless” & the lie was The Dukes idea not Daphne & Entanglement is a real phrase from that time lol. But great review. Loved the show too
Great thoughts!! I had a ton of fun with this too, and loved the queen - she was just the right mix of snarky and proper. I'm really digging your style and humor - keep it up!
This show was sooooo good! All the tea, all the 1800s drip, the storyline, the acting. Made me want to have a tea party! 5 stars for sure. Great review.
Loved the show. Rege-Jean Page is so handsome. His eyes, wow!!! I'm a fan of period dramas and definently look forward to many more seasons. You are right they developed the characters so well for the future seasons.
I’m just happy we didn’t get Lifetime, Hallmark old school quality every other time they did tv 📺 movies based off Harlequin and Avon romance novels. I’m glad Shonda got a chance to tackle this fictional historical genre. Great 👍🏾 review.
This show is amazing and the cast is perfect!! Can't stand the negativity from some people. I am so proud of this show. We have been waiting SO long for this to release. It is my favorite historical romance series!
Honestly, the negativity is especially annoying because the people are annoyed “it’s not what a period drama is supposed to be” like that wasn’t the exact point of Bridgerton. SMH. It’s a beautiful, almost perfect show
Great review, just to correct that the ruse was the Duke's idea. Also as a book fan, it's hard to say the books were better (I always say the books are better btw). So much thought and effort was put into this that I can only say it was just as great but different. I agree with the 5 star review. At least now you know where to start if you ever want to travel down romanceland. Lol
"His eyebrow alone is gonna get a second season" :') exactly my thoughts ! Thank you for this review !! Can't wait to watch this show ! I think the diversed cast is awesome, we all know it's not historicaly acurate but who cares : it's fiction, and the most important is that the ability to become their character, it should be the thing that matters the most and not how they look ! Especially when it prevents good actors from getting a role because of the color of their skin... I hope other shows and movies will follow shondaland example. PS : I'm not sure it's exactly what you were saying but I got the impression that they did the same thing with the music that in an another period show : Reign which I though was awesome but if so, Bridgerton is not the first show to do it. Sorry if my english is bad, I am french ^^
This show wasn’t on my radar but I finished it in one day! It was just that good. Loved the character development and looking forward to season 2. The Duke is such a hunk 😍 lol Excellent review 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
I'm so glad I wasn't the only person obsessed with Regé's eyebrows!!!!!! This show needs to get renewed until Colin & Penelope! AND I too request that Regency Men's fashion return. I need pretty boys in pretty coats with high colors and top hats. (I of course shall, remain in sweats :)
As with most books to the screen, the story becomes “Hollywood-ized”. I get it. This girl, ah woman, is a die hard Bridgerton fan. Personally, I loved it! Yes I admit I was yelling at the screen, “no, she wasn’t in this book!” However, this depiction was so beautifully done. From the actors (brilliant) to the costumes (gorgeous) and sets (beautiful). The writing kept close enough for a book to film. I admit I was kinda concerned about that at first. Quinn is one of my favorite authors. Was never a “romance novel” fan until I picked up one of her books at the library. When a writer can draw me in with a compelling story and then literally make me laugh out loud....SOLD! Bottom line, watch this series! Man, I hope they do all 8 books. I’m intrigued to see who the producers find to play ahhh other important characters. No spoilers lol. Thank you for your review. On point! Applause, applause, applause.
This is my first time watching your channel, I gotta say the dry wit (I use "dry" in the most complimentary way possible...lol) is very enjoyable...just subscribed! I've read all the Bridgerton family books and binged the show, I was skeptical at the beginning, but I thoroughly enjoyed the show by the end. I liked that you gave a bit of background on the show, other reviews tend to just go straight into the show without mention of the books, so thanks for that. Now, I'm off to watch more of your channel. :)
*No Pants?!!!!* 🤣😅😆😂🤣 Hold up, though. With your style, humor, and awesome insights, I think you should watch *Scandal* and do video recaps. Since there were many seasons, you could recap one season at a time, or every 10 episodes, or something like that. Either way, I guarantee you'll love it!!!
The doctor is prescribing me Scandal??? Yikes! I dunno i feel like I missed the wave. Lol no one wants to see me talk about something they already forgot about haha

I hate that I'm just now seeing this video and I honestly appreciate your take on it. So, I've read this entire series and the show is in keeping with it, which is all we can ask of an adaptation. I've also read hundreds, if not a thousand, of other Regency Romance novels. I have to say, I've imagined myself in these books before but it was breathtaking to actually see people who looked like me, not as the supporting cast (the help) but as fully developed main characters.
Tiffany this is a great comment from a true Regency fan! I’m glad to know the show did so well for you. I’m looking forward to more. Never thought I would turn into this guy lol
I heard the books are about each Bridgerton, so seems like they are set up for several episodes. Literally in the first 15 mins of the show i looked at my sister and said i love that it’s not all white people! And the Queen is black! I’m in! Your right the Queen was a whole mood, the costumes were fire, and so was the sex. The only reason i watched is my sister wanted to and told me it was from Shonda and well, she is exceptional! I’m going to have to go back and watch again, i did not notice the music. Thanks for the review, loved it and happy to see you thought it was 5stars.
Yea that’s true about the books but they dabble in some of the other books in this season here. MOST of this one is based on The Duke and I tho. I’m afraid to know the things I would be reading if I had time to read.
I love that the cast was diverse. It is a work of fiction and I don’t get why in the 21st century having a diverse cast is an issue. I read the books when they came out, and I always let my imagination to create the physical attributes of the characters. By having such a diverse cast, it really feels like an escape. To be immersed in a world where it is about the fear of being loved and not about race. It really imagines a world that in reading the novels I did not know could exist. It is the function of art to reimagine a world we could never know. I thought it was beautiful!
GREAT REVIEW Your review is as good as the series. Binge watched the show just to see what happened next. Amazing costumes, music, character development etc Rege Jean Page going to up his salary. Thank you! It is fiction and has a worldwide fan base. Looking forward to see Bridgertons (Reread the series at least three times a year plus all of Julia’s other books!). Great review! (And I have only seen one season of Grey’s Anatomy!)
Idiots: It’s not historically accurate History majors: This is the 1700s to 1800s under the reign of King George III and Queen Charlotte (Sophia Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz) you may want to take several seats.
Only white biased Americans will say it's not historically accurate. It was so refreshing to see black and white mingling in what should have been a normal setting all along. News to some of us but was so cool to see. Now I begin to understand why England was among the first to abolish slavery.

One thing I have to mention is the sex scenes at the end. Did they have an intimacy coach for those? Pretty racy. Surprised this series does not have an R rating. A bit too much but realistic. Wonder why they had to put so much sex in the film but maybe that was also in the books. Anyhow. Great series and 5 star review
Yes a lot of sex in the books. A lot of the romance novels have some very explicit sex scenes. In the regency romance it is usually between husband and wife or rake and mistress.
I was waiting for some Viola Davis level of acting or presence. Good lord, the agent didn't pick the right cast. The main girl is too weak and delivers a beloe average level of acting. I am disapointed with shonda.
I really enjoyed it. It’s pure Shondaland with a mix of Gossip Girl. It is a little fluffy but I binged it all and as I kept watching it, I really got hooked into the storylines. Someone said the lead girl is weak but that is exactly the way the young, virgin brides of the Regency were supposed to be. Also it is something of a reimagining of that time period but without slavery so there are all types of black people in the court. The queen is black and she brings typical Shonda fierce but eccentric character she does well. I recommend it.
It is deliciously yummy. It’s what our lonely quarantined hearts need at the moment. The best way to enjoy this series is to talk back to the tv 😂. I have to warn you though: there’s a whole lot of sex. Like, A LOT!! You can’t watch it with a teenager and I was embarrassed that my neighbors might misconstrue what was going on if they looked through my windows at one point. Anyway, the characters and the COSTUMES are serious eye candy. I kept on rewinding it to feast my eyes on it all. You will love Queen Charlotte’s glorious Afro. I’m ready for season 2.
Wow, that’s crazy Everyone is going nuts Briderton the movie ok but let’s grow up people it’s a love movie ,Enjoy it the man is wonderful, sexy, nice, fell in love when he really didn’t want to but he did fall I love you dog you,,,
I think it’s nonsense. Sounds like people complaining to complain. There’s nothing like this on the diversity front from any regency art. My opinion, a great step in the right direction.
@@TaitsTake I am glad to get your perspective! I felt bad for feeling the way you do after hearing what others think. I just want to be educated and it’s nice to gain different perspectives 💖
I actually wish they had ignored bringing up the discussion of race in the show the same way they do over on Hulu’s The Great, this isn’t a historically accurate show just have fun with it, but whatevs they got confirmed for a season 2😁
it was a show that kept my interest. The one thing is they should cut down all the sex scenes. it just took me out of the show. At one point i was thinking to myself how many of these do i have to sit through lol.
Going forward into the future, I could accept the level of diversity displayed in Bridgerton because black people, although still struggling are in a different place socially, educationally and economically. However, when we all know what actually took place historically i.e. slavery, the lack of education for blacks, the social displacement, overt racism and overall poverty, it's a little far fetched to believe that an upper-class white family at that time, would entertain their precious white daughter to wed a black Duke, regardless of how wealthy he was. It's like making a television series about world war one with Adolf Hitler and his inner cabinet portrayed as Jews. It simply doesn't make any sense and nor does Bridgerton when you take a step back, away from the glare and hype. Think about it!!! That said I enjoyed it to some extent, especially Rege Jean, what a handsome guy!!
But this isn’t a show about a war. Or anything specific events in history. It’s a romance novel. Certainly you understand the different in content that is made purely for entertainment and content that is for education.
White Hollywood has set the bar so low that we would praise "diversity" for the sake of it being different from the norm. This show is hardly worthy of praise for it's 'lighter than a paper bag' color casting
Honestly I wasn't too thrilled that the male lead casted was a black man because I'm sure in the novels he was white unless I missed a detail. Anyway I pictured him white. But his race or any other characters' race didn't interfere with the main plot so who cares🤷🏾♀️.
The Duke eyebrow alone deserves a second season! Ahahahhaha!! Life truly is unfair! Lol 😂
😂😂😂😂😂
That cut and this comment made me laugh at loud
I love the cultural diversity and that it's no big deal...it's what the world could have been and should be

Wow, that’s crazy Everyone is going nuts Briderton the movie ok but let’s grow up people it’s a love movie ,Enjoy it the man is wonderful, sexy, nice, fell in love when he really didn’t want to but he did fall I love you dog you,,,
There are people of color who are not happy about this diversity...saying it’s attempt has fell short. What do u think of that?
I think it’s nonsense. Sounds like people complaining to complain. There’s nothing like this on the diversity front from any regency art. My opinion, a great step in the right direction.
@@TaitsTake I am glad to get your perspective! I felt bad for feeling the way you do after hearing what others think. I just want to be educated and it’s nice to gain different perspectives 💖
I just started watching it. The FOMO got to me. 😀
well said !!
I freaking loved it
I actually wish they had ignored bringing up the discussion of race in the show the same way they do over on Hulu’s The Great, this isn’t a historically accurate show just have fun with it, but whatevs they got confirmed for a season 2😁
it was a show that kept my interest. The one thing is they should cut down all the sex scenes. it just took me out of the show. At one point i was thinking to myself how many of these do i have to sit through lol.
Lo-key, in that picture you used, Queen Charlotte looks like she could've been albino.
Its fiction.
But this isn’t a show about a war. Or anything specific events in history. It’s a romance novel. Certainly you understand the different in content that is made purely for entertainment and content that is for education.
Well u worry so much about because I don't think Rege would be checking for you ✌
she's not even a mermaid haha! Personally, the cast was perfect because the leads were very attractive...that's my priority >D
Rege for president (if he was from the US) 2028!
Loved it
White Hollywood has set the bar so low that we would praise "diversity" for the sake of it being different from the norm. This show is hardly worthy of praise for it's 'lighter than a paper bag' color casting
You are funny 🤣🤣🤣
The costumes were totally fake. Synthetic fibers and jewelry..
CANCELLED
Honestly I wasn't too thrilled that the male lead casted was a black man because I'm sure in the novels he was white unless I missed a detail. Anyway I pictured him white.
But his race or any other characters' race didn't interfere with the main plot so who cares🤷🏾♀️.
felt like we're watching you read a sixth grade book report in front of the class.
The worst netflix show. Yuck!
Wrong.
Boo on you
Everyone has their own taste. At least you gave it a shot. :) I loved it!
