Father ted is a beloved Irish comedy show ....we constantly quote this show all the time it's still to this day a pop culture icon...it never stops making me laugh
Father Ted is the rarest of things, a sitcom that hit the ground running and is just perfect. My vote for best episode is the caravan holiday and it contains one of the series best gags.
@clairwalshe9468. That was Arthur Mathews. I believe he used to play in a group. He'd also act out the odd sketch about his friend, Father Dougal McGuire. I can't find the link I read this on though.
It's one of those instances when they don't try and drag a show on forever (I guess they couldn't - RIP Kelly and Morgan) so funny, and daft. Dougal is still my favurite
The actor Frank Kelly who played Father Jack (drunk old priest), was an accomplished actor with a great portfolio of work behind him before he acted in Father Ted. Dermot Morgan (Ted) and Ardal O'Hanlon (Dougal) were actually comedians first and foremost. While shooting the series, Frank Kelly would sometimes give the comedians acting advice, and jokingly referred to them as 'amateurs'. Kelly also outlived Dermot Morgan by 18 years. Sadly Morgan died shortly after wrapping the third series.
As an Irishman I couldn't be happier that you've started Father Ted,..tip of the iceberg, they get so much better! Everyone in Ireland constantly quotes Father Ted, there was even a father Ted appreciation society at my uni 🤣 the depiction of the fair is a piss take of the agricultural shows and the types of fairs they have in the countryside communities in Ireland, bad weather and boring rides 🤣 ..I hope you watch them all and the Inbetweeners too!
Every single episode of this superb sitcom is an absolute classic. I wish someone would erase my memory so that I could watch them all like it was the first time. I envy you, so much side splitting laughter to come.
Love this show so much, first time it was aired I was living in a huge shared house with 7other people, and we'd record it and watch it when we got in from the pub, it's even more hilarious when you're with a group of drunk people, we'd all be crying with laughter!
My lord we're being treated today. Father Ted is epic! The writer (Graham linehan) is one of our best sitcom writers, Father Ted and The IT Crowd are two to binge watch.

@@drwhatson A myth apparently. Found this: "Linehan was in Ireland for the making of a definitive Father Ted documentary to be directed by Adrian McCarthy of Wildfire Films, one he hopes will dispel a lot of myths that have grown up about Ted. The biggest, he says, is that Father Ted was first offered to and refused by RTÉ. Linehan and Mathews had already been working in London and developing relationships with broadcasters for a while when they came up with the idea of Ted, so pitching it in the UK seemed like the sensible thing to do. ‘We didn’t do it with RTÉ because we were in England and we had a career there, so it would have been strange to go back to Ireland and start from the bottom in RTÉ, a company that never really made a successful studio sitcom. Because there was no infrastructure in Ireland for those kind of studio sitcoms, it would have been crazy to give it to them. RTÉ did many great things but studio sitcoms was not one of them"

From the series check out The passion of St Tibulus, Tentacles of Doom and Escape from Victory. And yes, Ireland is that beautiful, especially the wild Atlantic coast from the ragged coast of Donegal to the hills of Connemara, Galway city of fun and culture, the lunar landscape of the Burren and the rich and lush mountains and lakes of Kerry. Ted was filmed in locations up and down the west coast. The shipwreck in some of the scenes is in Inis Oir in the Aran islands.

Probably the funniest sit-com ever made, all these years later and despite seeing every episode many many times it still creases me up, all I can do is highly recommend that you find the time to watch as much as possible, you will not regret it. I am an Englishman who was lucky enough to be living in the republic of Ireland at the same time as the show was running. My personal all time favorite episode has to be "Kicking Bishop Brennan up the arse" I highly recommend that if you only watch one more you make it that one.

Every episode in Father Ted is a gem. My favourites are when three Bishops visit Craggy Island to see if the Island has a real miracle shrine - the ending is hilarious. Another is when Father Ted tries to prove he is not a racist. Though honestly it is very hard to choose because the quality never dipped in this show.

Best episode of mine is the one where father jack gets a brick so funny man
I love my brick!
Not watched the first episode in it's entirety since it was first aired, too much to say, absolute gold 👌 never be anything like it again
Tom..."....father.....i keeled a man."
I'm sure Pat Mustard would love to show Queen Boomer his massive tool.
React to The Young Ones...Anarchic 80s comedy. You'll end up saying..WTF! am i watching! and 90s comedy Bottom if you like mindless violence comedy fun 😆
I’m so glad you’re doing father Ted! Look forward to more reaction videos :)
King Boomer you have to react to 'Bottom'
YES!
