Video demonstration on how to winterize or prepare your portable generator for long term storage. For my specific needs, I don't usually use my generator every season and at times my generator can be in storage for up to 2 years at a time. As a result of my longer than average storage period I opted to remove all the fuel from the generator, change the oil, clean the air filter, fog the engine and give it a thorough detailing job prior to putting it away.
How well you prepare your unit for storage will dictate how well it run the next time you need to use it and how many years the generator may last you. Proper maintenance and storage practices is key!
My video shows a Honda EU2000i inverter series generator being winterized but really the procedures and principles explained in my video can really apply to ANY generator from ANY manufacturer.
Don't forget to change your oil every 25-50 hours of use with a quality automotive 5w30 or 10w30 weight oil!
