    Prior to the attacks of 9/11, the TSA didn't exist and 90% of the screening stuff at the airport didn't exist. In fact I recall as a teenager being able to go with my family to the airport to see my dad off on a trip for work. We could walk all the way up to the gate and wave at the plane at the window, no ticket or ID check required. You only had to be verified to get on the plane itself.

      As a child (younger than both Atlanta and Denzel), we watched the nightly news, which included the body count ratio from the Vietnam War, the assassination of JFK, RFK, MLK, Nixon opening China, the Cuyahoga River burning, Nixon resigning, as well as Apollo 11 and mankind's first steps on the moon. We lived that in real time as kids.
      It is not unreasonable for them to learn of history at their ages if their parents want them to.

      The prison, also known as Camp X-Ray (and by other names), is a small portion of the military base which includes naval ports and an airfield. The prison was first built in the early to mid 1990s to house Cuban and Haitian refugees intercepted on the ocean who turned out to be dangerous criminals pending repatriation to their countries of origin. After 9/11, Camp X-Ray, was expanded and modified to house known and suspected terrorists captured during the US and Coalition's War on Terror. Many are still held there, but many others were transferred into the custody of other countries, and some were sent to US federal prisons.

    Zero Dark Thirty (not for kids) is a great depiction of the events. Also, many of these Al Qaeda members that were interrogated and held prisoner were kept at CIA Black Sites in the Middle East, and not in Guantanamo. Guantanamo is located on a small area of Cuba, the only territory controlled by the U.S. in Cuba. Some of the 9/11 terrorists are still held there. In the Tom Cruises movie, A Few Good Men, part of the movie takes place at a fictional Guantanamo Bay. Great movie-nothing to do with 9/11, but worth watching.

    • @aphextwin5712
      @aphextwin5712 8 днів тому

      There is a Wikipedia article on CIA black sites, secret locations where the CIA held prisoners mostly related to Al Quaida and other Islamist groups. Many countries helped America in this by arresting people and handing them over to the CIA or just letting the U.S. transport prisoners through their territory. Several of them allowed the CIA to erect sort-off secret permanent detention sites.

I couldn't argue with her... eventually she joined me in my room and we sat and watched the TV for hours... I don't think we did anything at all really for her birthday that year. Nadine - you asked the most important question - was Pakistani intelligence helping the U.S.? I think they pretended to be helping - but Bin Laden was basically hiding in Pakistan - right down the street from a government military academy. A revealing detail in this story is that when the U.S. special forces flew into capture / kill Bin Laden - they did NOT alert the Pakistan government that we were entering their country. I think it's safe to assume that the U.S. believed the Pakistan Intelligence was hiding / protecting Bin Laden. Not everyone in this world believed Bin Laden had done something terrible. The Pakistan government had its own interests. But I'm glad you four are on our side. Hope you're enjoying your adventures through the U.S. Thanks for posting this one.

He's a former service member, he uses colorful language. However, he teaches in a way that the younger generation identifies with. He has children in the US write him for help on book reports. If you all are interested.

The you tube title "Revolutionary War Reenactment: Battle of Germantown 2015" is about a battle fought on October 4, 1777 and is about 10 minutes long. Also, it is important to know that the house in the video is the actual house from the original battle 245 years before! It took us maybe 10 mins to get past security landing in London Heathrow and roughly the same amount leaving London to fly to Paris. Coming back took like an hour to get through customs and we didn't even have anything to declare and we were in the handicap wheelchair access line which was way shorter than general admittance.

    Guantanamo is a US Navy Base at the southern end of Guantanamo Bay. The US acquired access to this area in a treaty with Cuba in 1903. The US recognizes Cuban sovereignty, but as long as they keep paying the rent, they can't really be forced out. In order to not grant the terrorists the same rights as people living in US proper a prison was created there to house all these prisoners.

    Several corrections to the dad’s comments: Guantánamo Bay is a USA federal prison in Cuba. it is not true that they could do anything. They wanted with the terrorists while they were there: not true. Guantánamo Bay has unscheduled and frequent inspections to check on that. What serious interrogation we did was in the Middle East, mostly Afghanistan, which it did work. You ask government found the Pakistani government was lying to us on several occasions. The Pakistan government knew that Osama bin Laden was in Pakistan, and by lying to us was incorrectly protecting him. This is why Navy seal team had to go into get him without the permission of the Pakistan government. Further, Pakistan is not an ally of United States. In fact, quite the opposite.

    OBL worked for the CIA in Afghanistan!🤫 Pakistan’s esteemed Military Academy, where the country’s top officers are trained, is the spot where the Waziristan Haveli - also known as Osama bin Laden’s compound - stood. Bin Laden was living practically under the nose of the military: The trip between his compound and the academy takes just 22 seconds. It makes sense that "Zero Dark Thirty" comes off like it was written at CIA headquarters, and that's because, for all intents and purposes, it was.

    • @Ken5244
      @Ken5244 8 днів тому +1

      Way to twist the facts around. ObL never "worked for the CIA in Afghanistan" -- he was part of the Mujahideen, the resistance fighters opposing the Soviet invasion that began in 1979. ObL wasn't even the leader of it -- he was just a soldier at the time. The U.S. provided Stinger (shoulder-fired) missiles to the Mujahideen, and some other materiel, to help them chase the Soviets out. It was many years later that he formed aQ and turned on the U.S. and its Western allies in order to try to force them out of Saudi Arabia and the Middle East at large. Your posting implies that the CIA was paying ObL at the time of 9/11, and that's simply a lie. Under the feckless Clinton administration, the U.S. had actually been (ineptly) trying to get ObL before 9/11. And the subsequent Bush administration continued that effort. They weren't paying a guy they were trying to kill.
      Moreover, the compound that ObL was found in many years later wasn't "at the spot of the Pakistani military academy" -- it was about a mile down the road. Close yes, but not on the same grounds. Did the ISI know he was there? Probably -- or at least certain agents/soldiers within the ISI probably knew -- but we'll likely never know who, specifically, knew and were protecting him.
      A number of the Navy Seals that killed ObL have said that Zero Dark Thirty is pretty accurate. It wasn't a propaganda movie "written at CIA headquarters" -- it was written by journalist and screenwriter Mark Boal, who has no connection whatsoever to the CIA. He had previously written the movie The Hurt Locker, which was about a bomb disposal unit during the Iraq War. He isn't a CIA agent.
      Get your facts straight and stop posting false information on UA-cam. And either delete or correct your posting.
