I am so happy to FINALLY have found a freaking video that goes over the confusing differences between the slip stitch and the chest 1 and which ones u skip over to start the join. NO ONE ELSE EXPLAINS THIS IN OTHER VIDEOS! Lol It's been driving me crazy for months! Thank you for explaining and recognizing that beginners may be confused why there's these 2 stitches extra and wether or not we're supposed to use them. Now I can get back to getting projects done and enjoy it knowing I'm doing it right!
I've been struggling for so long, wondering why I'm ending up with extra stitches - only to find out you have to pull the slip stitch to close the round! You saved me
Finally! A video where the person takes much more time on how to stitch in the round, count and join the row. Thank you 😊 I struggled so much to understand before seeing this. I've started a round crochet and so far I'm doing far better than before. Thank you so so much ❣️
After three years of crochet, this is the first time I understand how to handle a slip stitch. GREAT video. Super clear explanation and visuals. Thank you so much.
THANK YOU!!! Finally, a video that explains closing a round with a slip stitch in single crochet! Wonderful video! I have been looking all over the internet for a video explaining this in detail!
Thank you so much! I struggled a lot with whether or not should I work into slipstitch, and my count was always off. You're the first that explained it clearly.
Wow. You explained a lot of this I’ve only guessed on because nobody explained them before. Now I feel like unraveling my other work haha. Anyway thank you. Great tips and explanations.
Fantastic video. The camera work is exceptional . Very clearly explained for crocheters like me who were struggling with counts n joining ..thanks a ton ❣️❣️❣️
Huge thank you for this video! As a beginner who used double crochet to make a circle as a starter, I was so confused on how to join a round for single crochet and this video tackled all my concerns! The trick you did for the slip stitch was a game changer, thank you for making me finally understand! 💗💗
Thank you, very much! I finally realized what I’ve been doing wrong. I didn’t know what to do with the chains that don’t count as a stitch (when crocheting in the round or making hats, etc), and I couldn’t find an explanation anywhere until I came across this tutorial. I truly appreciate you taking the time to explain each step.
Thank you so much! There are so many patterns that require a slip stitch and chain at the end of each row. Now I know you don't count these! Thank you so so much!
EXCELLENT TUTORIAL. As a long-time knitter, the anatomy of crochet stitches has always vexed me. Now that I’m expecting my first grandchild, I have been looking for information to help me make all the cute things done in crochet. This tutorial takes the time to identify the parts of the stitch and how the needle interacts with each stitch. Thank you so much. I am now a subscriber!
Thank you for explaining the slip stitch so well in correlation to counting stitches! I searched so many videos trying to look for the answer and you were the only one that explained it so well!
Working in joined rounds can get very confusing at the joining point! I love your trick of tightening up the turning chain after it's made. I haven't seen that anywhere else! Also, thank you for showing where to place the next stitch after the turning chain. This is THE best video on this subject!
I really appreciate you showing so clearly which strands belong to which stitch, where to put your hook, and what to count as a stitch. These little details can cause so many problems, and it’s hard to figure out where you went wrong. Thank you so much!
Super helpful! - I could not figure out what was happening to the ‘slip stitch’ and thought I was adding one. Now I know how to do this properly (and not go crazy!)
This video explains how to see the stitches so well, better than any other video I’ve seen. I think the biggest challenge is learning to crochet is seeing the stitches and understanding where to place your hook, how to count the stitches. So well done! Thank you!!
Thank you so very much for this video. Even in a number of different “beginners’ books” that I have , this is not clearly explained. I really appreciate your thorough explanation of which exact stitch to join into. I look forward to watching your next videos.
Finally a clear video on the slip stitch! I have a pattern that requires the slip-stitch and I have not been able to do the pattern. I now have hope I will finally get it right😂 Do not use the slip stitch as a stitch. Got it now. Pull it! Got that as well. Pattern here we come to attack you again😂 Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! This video majorly cleared up something that I had been doing wrong in joining in the round for years, my joins are much cleaner now!
Such an awesome tutorial. Been watching video after video and this is the only one detailed enough to understand, slow enough to follow along, and perfect for learning how to join a circle with a slip stitch! Also showing how to tighten it is awesome!!!!!!!! Thank you
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I like the way you explain each and every step without using too many technical terms. From many young Saffricans, we thank you for helping us learn.
Your explanation is very clear and precise and thorough! I finally know how to figure out the slip stitch and most importantly knowing where the first stitch begins on a round.
Thank you so much! I was working on a project and kept putting the slip stitch in the wrong place... this tutorial was so detailed it answered my question and solved my problem!!! THAAAAAAAAAANK YOU!!!’
Thank you so much for explaining this! Pulling that slip stitch closed and showing how to find the first stitch by what is underneath is also helpful to do this right. Why do we have a turning chain? I have been crocheting in the round and not slip stitching or putting a turning chain in. I hope you have a video on how to end a round without having distorted stitches and when changing colors.
Thank you so much for this video, it’s exactly what I was looking for! I went through about 20 other videos before I came across this gem. You explained the technique perfectly!
The bottoms of the feet of my stuffed animals have always been a little janky because of the spiral of crochet in the round. This is a total lifesaver.
Thank you so much for this really nicely detailed tutorial! It was very helpful, so thank you!! On a side note- does anyone know why they don't make the head of crochet hooks more pointy?? I know that some are more rounded than others, but why don't they make them "sharper", like say as pointed as a knitting needle? Would be so much easier!

me too i didn't know that 😭😭
Yes, that tug to hide the slip stich is the best advice and I've been crocheting in the round for years.
Your explanation is the best I've heard since I've been crocheting. I have been crocheting for maybe 40 years now. Thank you for your time.
Thank you! Finally, a clear video that shows each step slowly. Your explanations helped so much!
Finally! No one else has ever described it the way you do! Thank you so much!

Your tip about pulling the yarn back to find the slip stitch was a HUGE help. Thank you!

Anna Gerlach I had the same problem :)
Me too!
Yep! It's like "which one of those little suckers am I supposed to go into?!" 😄 Glad I found this too!!
Exactly! She explained it perfectly.
Thank you so much! There are so many patterns that require a slip stitch and chain at the end of each row. Now I know you don't count these! Thank you so so much!
This video is great! Super high def - I can see all the stitches and what's happening. Thanks!
Thank you so much!! I always ended up with one extra stitch and couldn't figure out why. You are the first video to explain it. I appreciate you!

Excellently explained! Thank you so much. It was so frustrating that I had been going so wrong with these particular stitches. Thanks a million!

I think it is so you don't split your yarn, just like tapestry needles
thank u so much ♥
THANK YOU SO MUCH

dont mind me im just reminding myself incase i forgot 😅
In a nutshell - the slip stitch and the turning chain do not count as stitches, that is, we do not make a single crochet in them. Correct?
I have to make that video in my language. I barly found any explanation on why my crochet "wanders" when working with slst.
