- new version of my old video, same song ('metal gear saga') but now in hd
i hope the colours and brightness are ok, it looks fine on my pc but you never know
to make a long story short, it's slightly upscaled to 1058x720 which is the best you can get from this source, unless you stretch the image, but i'd rather have black borders left and right than changing the original aspect ratio - Ігри
The hardest part, in fact, was avoid looking at this awesome duel while blasting bob-omb gekkos.

Agreed. It's a real mind fuck. Do you focus on killing the Gekkos? Or take glimpses at Raiden giving it to Vamp?
I guess them fighting on Rex is symbolic. It's where liquid snake and solid snake shared their greatest duel, it's also where Raiden and vamp shared theirs.
Even more, in MGS2, Solidus falls down the same way Vamp did when they fought on top of a building.

Vamp had nano machines and a few cybernetics himself. He was much stronger and more durable than a Gecko.

Almost wished we could have used Raiden's Combat Knife in MGR. The damn thing is kept sheathed on his mechanical scabbard with his HF blade. Would be nice if Raiden had a dagger moveset.
+Chara Imagine if when you went Jack the Ripper mode, he started dual wielding the sword and dagger.
like, the moveset and hitboxes were the same, but the animation and speed was different
that's exactly what i thought too, expecially when armstrong broke his original sword. He just used his bare hands and i was like: Dude, you still have a knife behind you, not sure if it's enough but atleast try it!

Mgs2- raiden easily defeats vamp with no cybernetics

The ending is a big nod to MGS2's final battle. Vamp falling backwards the same way Solidus did, with Raiden slashing his blade in victory soon afterwords.
Also a nod to metal gear solid 1's final boss, with the 2 arch enemies fighting on top of metal gear Rex.

I get people have come to love Sam and Armstrong, but Vamp was Raiden's first rival.
Yeah. Never cared for Armstrong. Sam was entertaining. But Vamp? The feelings are all there. Him and Raiden had chemistry even as rivals. If they weren't rivals they'll be great at couples dancing competitions for sure. And Iam not joking. They really are great together. So intense too~😂
I absolutely love how much attention they gave Raiden in this game without detracting from the fact that this is Snake's final battle.

you think about it, vamp died the moment he got shot in the head back in mgs2. He lost his teammates--the only people he really seemed to care about. throughout mgs4, he's just got this nothingness behind his eyes and in his voice. he's completely embraced the abyss, he's just waiting for it to take him and having as much fun as he can.
All he has left of his team are their dogtags

This is an amazing example of how to turn a hated, stupid character into one of the most beloved and coolest character in the series.
I started out my MGS series by playing MGS2, 3, 1, 4. So I didn't really hate him nor did I understand why he received so much hate. I love Snake as well but damn come on people, he's not a BAD character people are just pissed it wasn't what they expected imo
Kevin Parsons I agree, it recieved a lot of hate in its day just because it wasn't Snake. In my opinion, he is not a bad character but he is pretty annoying and kind of stupid in MGS2, that is not a reason to hate him, though. Still, the transformation from MGS2 Raiden to MGS4 Cyborg Ninja is amazing, he quickly turned into one of my favorite characters ever.
Raiden in Sons of Liberty is kind of stupid because he is being used as a pawn.
He dosn't understand what is going on-much like the player who controls him probably does not understand what is going on the first time they play.

I always liked raiden, in mgs2 I felt closer to him then to snake as I didn't know what was going on and just looked up to snake and in mgs4 I felt like he was too edgy but still cool but in mgr he is the perfect balance of fun and badass

Metal Gear has more going on in its background sometimes than whole games.
It sort of reminds you how you felt when fighting Liquid for the first time. All your skill lead you there. And, even if it's a tough battle and you're going to trip a couple times. But, it's still only you coming out on top. Raiden had that moment. And, he defeated his own boss battle, while you played the role of secondary character by fighting off enemies while main character defeats major enemy. Raiden had a huge history with him. And, him coming out on top really sealed him as a respected and equal to David.
Couldn't get much of this epic scene with all the suicide Gekkos jumping at me. Thanks for uploading this.

I've been rewatching some mgs videos and wanted to see this one again. The coolest thing about this fight to me was if you looked atop the metal gear they were fighting on, you can actually see them fighting in real time in perfect sync with the cutscene. It was frustrating fighting geckos and trying to watch this amazing fight at the same time lol. Before i knew you could watch this on youtube, I think I had my dad record this fight with his phone so I can watch the full fight.
my sister was in the room when I did this fight, and obviously I was so focused on the gekkos I couldn't watch this fight in the corner so i kept asking her "PLEASE TELL ME MY BOY RAIDEN IS WINNING"
I like how this is literaly the liquid vs snake for mgs 1 but this time its cybernetic ninja boy against another character that never dies

... You know, I get the whole "Raiden has more history with Vamp bla bla bla" thing, because it's true. I get that. But... It felt so wrong to deal with god damn Gekkos while RAIDEN gets to do the bossfight I so much wanted to do. Not to mention they show this and I don't even have the time to look at it and it becomes annoyingly distracting... :c

It's so odd, it's almost like this song was written for this fight (which I know it wasn't), it hits all the right notes at exactly the right time.

Man, that whole Snake vs Vamp, then Raiden vs Vamp was one of the best boss battles in the MG series, as long as you didn't google how to counter his constant regeneration. Really wish we could see more of Vamp, but he died the death he always wanted so I can't complain too much.

Even after having his nanomachines basically neutralized/weakened (which gave apparently gave him his regeneration and speed), Vamp was still able to hold his own against Raiden for a while. The same guy who stopped a ship with one arm and threw a several-hundred-tons metal gear with his bare hands XD
One thing that bother me is when Raiden ejected the knives from his body they would hit vamp with their handles not blades but its still cool.

How did the knives that Raiden "ejected" take like a 90 degree turn midair? At the moment that move happened, they were pretty much perfectly perpendicular to each other - how did Raiden hit Vamp with the knives without turning his torso?
