Well they both had the benefit of not being emotionally connected to The Joy. So that's a huge factor. BOTH Zero and Naked Snake were very close with the Boss.
Venom was pretty similar to Big Boss actually in that he also wanted men united in war and he was conditioned to do so by Ocelot and Miller. I know most of you dont care but please let me explain to you how I see this. Solid Snake in Metal Gear 1 was based around clichés in movies. It was cool to have a bandana ect. The evidence for this is that Kojima was a heavy film enthusiast and loved everything about films. Big Boss (Venom Snake) in Metal Gear 1 was a generic throwaway villain even in his name "Big" Boss trying to state he was the ultimate boss to the game. As Kojima became more professional with his writing he realised what a masterpiece of a story he had created with Big Boss but couldn't finish it or even have it to his standards due to the circumstances under Konami. My main point is: Metal Gear Solid is a franchise that was influenced by what was cool back then until it hit a point where Kojima had changed his ways. Also adding to this is say if non of this was true, The title of "hero" for Solid Snake was made for him. Do you seriously think Big Boss would die to the hand of Solid Snake? Have you even played Ground Zeros? Venom and Big Boss died in order to make Solid Snake the hero he HAD to be as he was Big Bosses clone and had to live up to the expectations of that.
I really do hope they release all the Metal Gear games in a single collection with everything remastered. I would rather buy that than get "Metal Gear Survive".
And Ocelot helped him to achieve that by becoming one of the Patriots overseers, opening his way of the insurrection to bait Solid Snake destroy the Patriots
And Jack (Raiden), played his part too. He kept the world to prevent something like The Philosophers/The Patriots born once more after the Desperado Enforcement LLC terrorist attack on Africa and revealed that World Marshal was behind of it. Raiden even broke the rules of his own country to prevent orphan children used to be war orphan, and now he fights for what he believe in just like Big Boss and Solid Snake. In other word, Solid Snake has succeeded to pass the soldier generation to Raiden just like Big Boss did to Solid Snake
Big Boss' journey is basically the dark reflection to Solid Snake's one: Both are legendary soldiers who attained greatest prowess in the battlefield, feeling that the battlefield was their home, forged great friendships and their lives were fraught with tragedy. But Solid Snake refused to let the pain of his tragedies consume him, thus moving forward and still fight for what it was right, whilst Big Boss let his pain drive him insane to the point of becoming the very thing he hated. Even Big Boss himself lampshades it, saying that if Snake was in his place, he wouldn't commit the same mistakes he himself did. Big Boss is what Solid Snake could have become if he let the pain and grief he felt consume him.
Something funny Solid Snake tried to avoid the battlefield. After the Zanzibar incident he retired but was forced to come back in metal gear solid 1 and the end of this one he tried to retired too. Solid Is really different than Big boss. Big boss is a Soldier the Soldier Solid is not. Solid is a Hero

So metal gear solid 3, portable ops (if you consider it canon), peacewalker, ground zeroes and the phantom pain are all Big Bosses story as hes the playable main character. Then Metal Gear Solid 1, 2, 4 as well as Metal Gear 1 & 2 are Solid Snakes story as hes the playable main character.
Big Boss was a remarkable man and soldier, but in the end he was wrong. He wanted to make a place for soldiers where they wouldn't be used as tools and pawns of the governments of the world because he felt betrayed by his country for what happened in Operation Snake Eater. The irony is that The Boss would not have wanted that. The Boss did not mind being a pawn of the government, did not mind being sacrificed because she believed it would help her country, help maintain the peace and keep the world from tipping into war and allow ordinary people to lead peaceful lives. The Boss saw it as her duty to die for her country. She believed that it was a soldier's role to carry out the mission, and if the mission required them to die, then they die. She believed in her protégé and for the sake of her mission, the sake of her country and for the sake of keeping the peace she gave up her life. Big Boss hated that. He didn't want anyone to be sacrificed as pawns in an eternal game of governmental chess. He wanted soldiers to be valued by their countries and governments as much as he valued The Boss. Or as Rambo put it - "I want, what they want, and every other guy who came over here and spilled his guts and gave everything he had, wants! For our country to love us as much as we love it! That's what I want!" Which is a noble goal, but Big Boss went about it the wrong way. Making the MSF, Outer Heaven, Zanzibar Land. A private nation by soldiers, for soldiers is too provocative for the world. It incites conflict, it pushes the world towards war. It threatens the peace. At least he figured it out in the end. He saw his mistake and he made his own peace with his son and his mentor and himself. That's the meaning behind his final words. He put aside his aggression, put aside the soldier, the gun. At the end of his path he chose peace. "This is good. Isn't it?"
errm... error within 15 seconds. Big Bosses first name was Jack, Not John. Jack is an alternative version of John BUT is NEVER mentioned as being John anywhere in the entire franchise while The Boss (MGS3) refers to him on multiple occasions as Jack.

Legit gave me goosebumps I NEARLY CRIED MANLY TEARS, thank your for this
I shaded tear as new generation fan of mgs series when venom snake died.
Press F to pay respect!
A man, a soldier, And a father
This is who I am
Big boss-1935-2014
the only video that i understood the life and timeline of bigboss
BIG BOSS A legendary and painful life
This was just story of big boss! The real story of metal gear will take an hour to explain!
I saw on Twitter Netflix might make a "Original"movie out of the metal gear franchise 😂😂 it's gonna be trash
Idk. Castelvania kicked ass.
I would actually like to see a MGS movie. Sounds like it could be pretty rad if done right.
@@solaris619 Kojima as director and story/scenario writer
@Thatshow ED Blacks? Sigint and others. Muslims? Literally every PMC soldier in MGS 4. Lesbians? Well Strangelove was bisexual so that counts. Transgenders? Well we have "Chico is Quiet" theory
Conclusion: Zero is the actual antagonist of the entire Metal Gear series
"This is good isn't" this is the moment you realize the end of a legend's story
R.I.P Big Boss now you're free in peace you don't need to fight anymore
"Fighting was the only thing, the only thing I was good at." - Gray Fox
How this video present the mgs story or timeline is just beautyfull good job RIP Big Boss
Naked Snake > Solid Snake imo
This was pretty damn beautiful, him and Snake both lived terrible lives...
Big boss was the real hero and legend in all the mgs franchise
Big Boss Returns... love this song
We need a game that we play as big boss in zanzibar land ... fighting snake would be so epic 😭
It would be one of the only games where you win the final boss fight by letting yourself be killed.
@rusty shackleford it would only fit as DLC mission for Phantom Pain
@@NiCoNiCoNiCola it wouldnt zanzibar and the outer heaven base are 2 different things. Mg2 big boss is the real one at zanzibar land.
@@thebatter7769 I mean it wouldn't really make sense for Konami to make an entire game where we mostly codec with Solid until the Boss battle
Rest in peace Big Boss mother base will never be the same without you
I fuckin hated the twist in TPP I just wanted to play as the Big Boss one last time
You did, and better so, you were him.
Naa I appreciate what Kojima was trying to do, but no
George Havenhand He pulled a mgs2 but it did it way worse this time.
I got confused about it then I was like "oh" :(
George Havenhand same 😑
Forced to resist the Pain
Face his Fear
Calm his Fury
And to meet his End
Forced to be taken down by his own Sorrow
And forced to kill the only mother he knew
His very Joy
*The entire Big Boss storyline*
Me: "This is good, isn't it?"
This edit was epic
His name is Jack not John. The Boss calls him Jack like 5 times then he calls himself John because he doesn't trust ocelot
His name is John, Jack is just a nickname. There was a joke that Snake's name is John Doe, and Para-Medic's should be Jane Doe
DragonLeroy. Yeah i dont understand why people get confused
big boss returns...perfect song for this
Big boss= a story that can go down in generations and be known as a legend and a myth
やべぇ、、BIGBOSSめっちゃかっけぇ。。
Big boss is one of the greatest hero in gaming history
This video made me cry.
4:44-4:49
wow, Zero's Plea for Big Boss, That is so much emotion. To still Call him a friend, even after all of that
So metal gear solid 3, portable ops (if you consider it canon), peacewalker, ground zeroes and the phantom pain are all Big Bosses story as hes the playable main character.
That's what I want!"
Which is a noble goal, but Big Boss went about it the wrong way.
Isn't it?"
Amazing job man... I've start to cry at 0:01 and stop it at 5:47
We are all Big Boss !!
Metal Gear Solid : VI etnam
I'm not crying...You are.
The original and best Snake. Miss that guy.
Big Boss only learned Operation Snake Eater was a ruse was during the PW incidnet. When Eva gave him a tape.
God I miss Kefka Productions.
Such a wonderful video. Thank you. You've made my dad. And considering today is my birthday... Welll that's saying something.

errm... error within 15 seconds.
Big Bosses first name was Jack, Not John. Jack is an alternative version of John BUT is NEVER mentioned as being John anywhere in the entire franchise while The Boss (MGS3) refers to him on multiple occasions as Jack.
