- From setback to superpower, Maghalie Rochette’s educational new ‘Menstrual Health Series’ is helping to shift the perspective on periods. Part of her Fever Talk podcast, the series educates and encourages riders to harness the power of their period, and improve their performance in doing so, opening up a crucial conversation usually held behind closed doors.
After learning that understanding the strength of your cycle allows you to use it to your competitive advantage, Maghalie’s view on periods changed. Changing our mentality toward something, she discovered, can change us physically. In her research, Maghalie found that during a period, you are in fact ‘most primed for exercise because that’s where your hormone levels are lower’. She discusses the whole spectrum of the cycle, from those who have periods to those that do not, and is working to break down any shame or uncertainty that usually surrounds the subject. - Спорт
Thank you. I’m a dad of a girl. She loves to ride, and although it’s not ideal, I will be trying my best to help her with these topics. Keep on riding!
Working with the natural order of things always seems better than fighting it. Thanks for bringing this topic up for women specifically, but for humans in general.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Thank you for being open about this important topic. Young female athletes need to hear this!
Men also need to hear this - prejudices and worries are on either side. So if we want to ride together, we should know about each other, too!
@@matthiasknaepper7166 yes. It made me so much more aware and conscious of the women in my life and around me. I think we sometimes have a twisted idea of what strength looks like.. This short exposure definitely opened my eyes to what that is.
Loving getting to see more of Maghalie at races and in video content this year. Will be cheering so hard for her at Worlds this weekend.
Really enjoyed that, didn't want it to end! Keep more of these coming Rapha please.
Thank you for talking about it! Sharing it with friends now!
Thanks for making this video!! The book “In The Flo” by Melissa Vitti is an excellent resource on this subject. The book describes how our cycle phases differ, how we can eat certain foods to support our cycle, and how we can use our different hormone levels to our advantage (biohacking) and more! In whole, it’s the cycle syncing method. Every woman should learn more about their menstrual cycle for better health and wellness, athletes or not.
Thanks for sharing that! Awesome!
Not the video I was expecting but interesting and super important! I've seen family and friends go through this as athletes. Keep trailblazing on and off course Maghalie!
This is fantastic. Thank you!
Amazingly told. Such power here, as well as a fantastically edited and shot film. Bravo
So excited for the races in Arkansas this weekend!
Never knew! Lots of learning here and very rarely talked about. Good on ya Maghalie and Rapha!
At first, I thought that it would have been better to title the video to share its focus in the name. After watching, I appreciated stumbling into the message and see that it speaks to more than just issues related to menstruation for highly competitive athletes, though it does that well. I hope folks who need to hear this continue to find it.
Great film, important topic. Side note. Film makers why the weird aspect ratio? It was just distracting the whole time, I know rapha prides itself on having more vlog style informal cinematography but a 4:3 aspect ratio is just weird and distracting.
Again bravo for the film and topic!
Super interesting... Humans are an amazing design..
this is awesome. Great work rapha.
Super intéressant comme perspective. Salutations du Québec! ✌️
Unexpectedly important
Female Athlete Triad is so under-discussed. Thanks for bringing more light to this.
