Aye. I never watched his stuff, but I figured now would be an appropriate time to give his stuff a look. I don't know how many I've watched by now, haha.
M LT All those games and micro-transactions are scams. Some are merely less slimy and underhanded than others, but they all rely on gamer addiction and impatience to compel them to put a lot of cash into the game just so they can see the rest of the content by making any "free" route, if there is one, as unappealing, tedious, and impossible as they can.
I only hate ads that you can't skip. Like I don't give a crap about the game so I hated not being able to skip it. In general the only ads I sometimes like to watch on UA-cam are movie trailers. If I don't know about a game then it's almost guaranteed I will have no interest in it.
I think that, at least for me, the humor is derived from trying to imagine a group of game writers sitting around and coming around to decide that that line was the coolest option they had going for them. ...and also probably from the fact that unlike crap like "All your bases are belong to us," I'm not reminded of that line particularly often, so it always seems _freshly_ stupid whenever I hear it.
Wow people sure are mad about the completely skippable ad. Jared gotta make money dudes. And don't pretend you aren't using adblock for the regular ads anyway.
One of the best things about the original Alone in the Dark trilogy is, that it manages a thick and suspenseful horror atmosphere without any gore. PS not sure if it's because I've grown up with this game, but your jokes are hilarious in this one. The hiding in the closet was on point.
Some of his film reviews were awesome as well, especially The Reb Brown and Highlander ones. But his stuff started to get really bitter and negative. I know he had personal problems, but it wasn't fun seeing that manifest on camera
I don't think ProJared disapproved of the concept, it's more the fact that the game had pretty much forced gambling with real money and it was shallow as hell for a final fantasy game and was basically a cash grab. There are plenty of semi fun clicker games out there and the fact that he ascended in this one means that he actually did play it enough to know what it is. It's still kind of annoying to see that ad though.
I think that the people bitching about people bitching about the ad did so more recently, and were more popular, due to their welcome meta-commentary on a tired subject. So they're what you're seeing now. There are probably just about as many people who bitched about the ad, but you'd have to load more comments to see them.
Jared should do final fantasy month. It would be kind of like dndcember. Would be great to hear his thoughts of each of the games and some of the spinoffs
Why is everyone getting mad at Jared for "selling out"? Seeing as youtube is becoming more advertiser friendly, I'm happy that my favorite youtubers can still make money and keep their content relatively the same with this option. Also you can just skip it and if your internet is too slow maybe you should sell out so you can make more money and afford to.
we started playing 2 weeks ago, im going over today in a few hours to play again. Oh, this is my other account for some reason i cant see replys to my comments on my other one so i need to reply using this one.
The Living Skit Same here. Friday before last was our first time. One of the guys I was playing with kept wanting to murder hobos and we hadn't even run into each other yet.
DiamondDead And of course he plays other games. Not every game he plays or shows he watches is something he likes. He streams to keep up with the fans during his monthly absence, and videos are a lot harder to make than you realize. It can take up to working 3 hours for a whole week to release just an okay video, and putting in effort means putting in more hours. Yes, there is not benefits of health insurance or fixed incomes, but there's clearly more to making videos than just "gotta find a job I can do" unless you make videos solely for cash. Plus, a simple 8 hour job can take out a lot more time from making videos than you think. Some people don't release for months because of job issues, school, or even working in the military. There's nothing wrong with sponsors so long as you do it in the right way (short 1 minute advertisement), but you're just seeing the bad side of it. I would be pissed if Jared went full sellout, but I don't agree on fully individual, no advertisement system as I never was a man who thought leaning towards one side or the other too much is a good idea.

I LOVED this game when I was a kid! I could never beat it, but was able to watch my best friend do it. Great video ProJared! If you ever need extra people in your camera crew let me know!
Honestly, I don't give a shit about the ad but I do find it hilarious that advertisers think that this would make me want to play their game, at all and not make me just resent them forever. Shit like this makes me guarantee that I will never, ever play your game. So I gotta thank ProJared for that. In actuality, he's looking out for you.
You are a savior with your skip ad annotation! I understand that you need to make money so sponsorships and ads are necessary, but while binge-ing your videos, its nice to get straight to the action. Really appreciate everything you do, keep it up! :D
Tim Wielgot I'm just saying that because UA-camrs are sponsored by Lootcrate ALL THE DAMN TIME EVERY OTHER VIDEO, and usually they talk about how *great* the Lootcrates are when they're opening them in their 2 minute long paid pandering, when they're usually subjectively filled with worthless *shit* in the eyes of most people. As a result, its more bearable to see a sponsor that's not so over used on the internet...
GameGrumps is often sponsored by Lootcrate, and they make great ads. I don't think you can make that great of an ad about some mobile game, so I would find it sadder if the same ad was about Lootcrate, because there isn't much potential you can out into an ad about a game where you mindlessly tap the screen.
I remember thinking this was the pinnacle of video game graphics/gaming when it came out. Me and my 386 PC with a 3.5 disk drive (which was cutting edge compared to 5.25" disks).
Is it weird that during the one time a content creator is considerate enough to manually add an annotation allowing me to skip the ad, I'm compelled to let the ad run? What is this feeling? Respect? Nah, it couldn't be.
With Adpocalypse I can understand the ad in the vid. Plus it won't kill you to skip it manually if you absolutely must. If youtube won't give us ads then we can just make our own.

Who knows, maybe you really do like that smartphone game....but I doubt it. I hope you get better advertising opportunities in the future, perhaps something you're _really_ passionate about. *Thank* *You* for another great video by the way.
Stephen O'Brien The problem with that is how sponsorships work. The sponsor contacts the medium, not the other way around. This means that ProJared can't just say "Hey, Squeenix, can you pay me to do a Chrono Trigger ad for you? Yeah? Cool!" That's just not how that works. When selecting an advertisement, you can only get paid for what companies have offered you to advertise. With ProJared's more minor popularity on UA-cam, I have a feeling this was one of the only sponsors available.
If such is the case, then that really would be tragic, because it practically just made me lose respect for him that he'd practically advertise something that he probably doesn't enjoy that much.
I came to watch this AFTER I watched Jared's playthrough on the other channel - I giggled at several points remembering how much trouble some of the monsters and puzzles gave him! Glad you're back, Jared!
He told his fans to play a game that siphons money from you and the entire game is literally tapping the screen. His fans should be able to trust what he says
It wasn't just released on the PC it was also on the 3DO because I owned that version. It truly did spawn the survival horror genre and I was in 1st grade around the time this game was released.
Unless the sponsor pays significantly more to put the ad at the beginning of the video or pays by retention time at the ad, I'd suggest putting it at the end. This results in less bitching about the ad in the comments.
I wouldn't. I would only accept sponsors for things I actually have an interest/faith in. I don't give a single fuck about mobile games in general because they are absolute garbage
Fantastic video as always, Jared! The only thing I want to say is that while Alone in the Dark is definitely a grandaddy of survival horror, Sweet Home for the NES should probably take the title of "game that inspired the survival horror series."
I was 10 years old when this game came out and it scared me to death that i put it down and came back 4 years later to finally finish it. Ah nostalgia.

Dude this game scared the s**t out of my little sister and I all the way back in 92-93. So scary. I remember having a blast playing this game.
I came to watch this AFTER I watched Jared's playthrough on the other channel - I giggled at several points remembering how much trouble some of the monsters and puzzles gave him!
Glad you're back, Jared!
Why are so many people complaining about the advertisements? It doesn't take out any time from the video and it's pretty informative.
Such gentleman having to awkwardly jump platforms wearing elegant clothes and bow tie to fight the gatekeeper of hell... I miss the 90's
Oh no, I had to wait an entire minute to get through an ad that Jared gets money from! I'm going to bitch in the comments to express how mad I am!
6:46 Fear not the man who tries a thousand different kicks, but kicks the same a thousand times.
Nice throwback to a true classic. This game is in my tops of all time.
1:30 After seeing Jared's Doki Doki Literature Club gameplay, I can safely say that game is on that list now.
This comment section is full of 9-year-old kids calling Jared a sellout
some say he needs to eat..
then in the same comment proceed to say how he shouldn't put in ads like that..
TakelWolf yeah I don't like to see ads but it keeps him alive
He told his fans to play a game that siphons money from you and the entire game is literally tapping the screen. His fans should be able to trust what he says
Now it’s full of drama-fueled teenagers calling Jared a clown
@@brandonm2286 We arent wrong 😂
What's awesome with Jared is that even his adds are fun to watch thanks to his unique sense of humor.
Thanks for the nostalgia. I remember being quite scared as a 9 year old.
I'm loving the comment section right now pretty much nothing but love and support let's get our boy back to over a million subs!
Hey, Jared, play the other other sequel! It's called "Alone With a Dork".
That's why my final rating is a Twilight Zone/10
6:48
I see this game also inspired ride to hell
It took me a few minutes to understand this
Hey Jared, since you've left screw attack, I'm happy to see you've found your own jam. Cheers man, keep up the great work!
I'm surprised Carnby was able to make it out of the mansion alive with all that junk in the trunk he was carrying.
True
"I'm the (monitization) universe!"
"I don't have your stone, and (monitization) you anyway!"
"I'm the F@#king universe!"
"NOT THAT ONE!"
It's my Birthday, yay!
Happy Birthday
FoxClawTV happy b day
Hupy burf dey
It wasn't just released on the PC it was also on the 3DO because I owned that version. It truly did spawn the survival horror genre and I was in 1st grade around the time this game was released.
Jared deserves a lot more subscribers for his content that he puts out for us👍
Did... Did Dino Crisis appear at the bottom of the screen...? 1:46
yup
That game was awesome.
It's essentially Resident Evil with dinosaurs. What's not to love. I never actually played the original but I love the sequel.
@@redshepherd32 sorry, but I don't see it.
Like 50% of the comments down here keep going on about ads and shit, while I'm left wondering why the final rating isn't in the video. :/
Good question actually. Maybe it's cause he's reviewing a good game? I'm not too sure myself.
It's not because he reviewed a good game. He gave Chrono Trigger a final rating.
riddyprower Huh. Guess I was wrong.
So the thing that spits fire... is weak to fire?
LOGIC
Louis Thrift it's a literal trope of "fighting fire with fire".
Louis Thrift Well, yeah, once you put the talisman down to nullify its magic.
I don't have your logic AND FUCK YOU ANYWAYS!
Honestly with the amount of support he's getting. a Sponsor should really jump on this.
Luckily the algorithm is being kind to him right now. That's why we're all here again.
Considering that this game is 26 years old, these computer graphics were pretty advanced. The pre-rendered backgrounds still look pretty good.
Unless the sponsor pays significantly more to put the ad at the beginning of the video or pays by retention time at the ad, I'd suggest putting it at the end. This results in less bitching about the ad in the comments.
If I was asked to say a bunch of things about a random mobile game and got payed for it. I would do it without a second thought.
We all would, no question.
People act like they wouldn't but when faced with it, we would all do it.
Chris Joiner pays the bills
The Burned Man yeah would definitely promote anything if I got paid for it
i would too,if i could go all avgn about that
I wouldn't. I would only accept sponsors for things I actually have an interest/faith in. I don't give a single fuck about mobile games in general because they are absolute garbage
Love your videos! Hope to see more!
Fantastic video as always, Jared! The only thing I want to say is that while Alone in the Dark is definitely a grandaddy of survival horror, Sweet Home for the NES should probably take the title of "game that inspired the survival horror series."
I love how the faces are made out of a handful of tris. GREAT!
Love ya jared
:)
The Luigi's mansion music was fitting
Jared, you didn't even RATE IT.
I was 10 years old when this game came out and it scared me to death that i put it down and came back 4 years later to finally finish it. Ah nostalgia.
thanks for the ad it introduced me to one of my favorite games of all time now
