you shouldnt be using a pie gauge to check a yoke you should be doing a lift test on a test weight. you can put a yoke on a piece of wood placing a pie gauge between theclegs and get a field

can't be easier than this. Today, i perfectly understand the function of pie gauge.
So the pie gauge is not something that could be used in a arc gouged backing weld ? Bottom of a arc gouged bevel would only be 3/8" wide .
