I love her pianissimi. They suit the aria perfectly.
The sound and legatos were beyond perfection. Unique in history.
Her unique voice transports you to the heaven, so musical so fine in all the music that she did along her career ! Thanks God to have Montserrat Caballé in this world !

Yes, she is the best! Apart from her gorgeous sound, Caballe incredibly takes the main theme, up to high A, then high G and then the repeat, up to high C and high Bb, all in one breath! No other soprano does this as far as I'm aware!

Actually she only does it for the first phrase (A to F to G to E). The second phrase that goes to the C she breathes like all other soprani typically do.

@@pnocella She definitely breathes here. However, on her recorded, studio version, she does the phrase in one breath.

Fantástica. Fraseo impecable, fiato incombustible. Quizá un pequeño abuso del portamento en los primeros compases del recitativo, pero siempre contribuyendo al legato inmaculado. Voz plena, colocada en lo alto y rotunda en los agudos en forte, y un glorioso, imposible diminuendo final que hace que el tiempo se detenga esperando que termine para gritar desde lo más profundo de nuestras entrañas: ¡¡Brava!! ¡¡¡Bravissima!!!
No tiene recitativo el aria.

I like generally Caballe, but this aria is Anna Moffo's. This performance is too studied and ponderous. It doesn't float and soar as Moffo's does.

@@romondesbert not sure what you mean, but I would suggest you try, L. Price, A. Moffo, for comparison, As classical voice coach, I know something about voice, Caballe even struggle with pitch. In the world of opera singing a voice will always be compared to another, and Caballe falls short of so many. Just listen to her Salome, it's ubareable. You need to educate yourself I think, try a hearing test as well.
