Thanks for shearing this. It's clear comparison between the mics. Pra628 softer than sm57 to my ear, which is good to give you more different sound if you have both of mics.

thank you, i will look it up at the mall again for the price, hopefully i could buy it. The problem is the middle equipment (indie artist)hope it's not expensive, hope it's much better than the samson co3u usb condenser mic, which my mom in Dubai can't seem to buy from amazon.

@chaosdream Thanks ... I will borrow my friends older E 609 he gigs with and said... its amazing...so I am planning to use that with a PRA 628, Fat Head ribbon and a R102 MKII ribbon i will see if i can add the 57... I had a e609 did not like thin nasal sound...(maybe a bad one) I have a friend who use's the e609 & the PRA-628 for metal and likes them together... I have used the 628 for snare and trumpet ... works great for these as well. Cheers Doyen

Hi I would choose the 638-MKII for vocals it has a much better low end, and gives a fatter tone. they actually both complement each other on guitar cab. i like the MKII version. just for the extended low end. more like the older retro vintage tone, CHeers

Hi Andreia, i enjoyed your singing, we have the PRA 628 MKII it is $59 USD and we ship anywhere, this is a dynamic mic, does not need phantom power but a good mic pre, makes the difference. we have other Superlux vocal mic's as well, and the Recording Tools MRP-01 Passive ribbon would be awesome on your vocal thru a good mic pre. look our studio up on line Audiohipster. Cheers Doyen

Dude, nice video! Can you make a comparison between SM57, Sennheisser E609, and the PRA628? I'm really curious about how these mics differ from each other...

I'm a neophyte .. is it me or do those SM57s sound harsh? Is the point of all this that the PRA 628 is a bit more smoother and ambient? I'm looking to buy my first mic for guitar recording purposes ... not sure what to get now.

hey on the next defining your tone... we will back up all the mic's around 14 inches and circle them in from of the middle of the cabinet, close mic'ing can change tone even the tilt of the capsule. these were done in one pass... and not a strict science... but for fun. and sound reference... i personally never use one mic on a cabinet unless it is a passive ribbon and that is the sound i am after. visit AudioHipster on line the Recording Tools page click the pic for more sample on gutter cab.

Gee you saw that? lol hope you did enjoy (kinda embarassed here hehe)
Unfortunately, I am looking for a condenser mic. for vocal recording then put it in a recording software like FL then make a song. was looking for something like samson co3u usb condenser but it's hard to find something like that here in the Philippines.

@MrStubat Hey Man.. one of our studio 57's rattles so much i put a bead of silicone around the base to keep it from clunking, and the new PRA 628 MKII leaves it in the dust, so does the CAD D189, if you haven't tried the S502 ORTF small condensers don't knock 'em they rub weenies with $3750 look a-likes... shoot me an email at AudioHipster for a pic and MP3 if you want to listen yourself.. eco series,or SMK unfair comparison, TOP series has a snap ring, piece of cake to fix. D108 design kudos.

Not a very good comparison test as they're all pointed at different speakers.

    SM 57 sounds the worst!

  • @MrStubat

the 57 eats the lot...as usual...if the superlux is like any of their other mics it will have unacceptable handling noise and poor shock mounting...their SM58 vocal knockoffs are garbage and their small condensors are too...stick to the shures
