I think it's hard for me to empathize with someone watching this for the first time since I watched it first subbed, then I saw it dubbed (which is honestly, the best dubbed show I have ever seen. I don't ever go for dubs unless it is death note or dragonball so that is high praise since I grew up with dragonball) and then I watched the horrible movie and since then I've rewatched the subbed about 4 times and the dubbed twice so I know this show better than my own life at this point lol @@mikemath9508

23:11 just to clarify it means that a death will not take place if the conditions are impossible, if I write in the death note that x person is going to die in 40 minutes from a car accident in the US but they live in Japan it's not going to work because it's impossible so I think they would just die from a heart attack
it also means that actions taken by the individual cannot happen unless they reasonably could come up with the idea to take those actions themselves. Hence why earlier experiments were he tried to have a convict write a note saying they know L is suspicious of the japanese police didn't happen. The convict couldn't reasonably come to that conclusion with the knowledge they had alone.

And only people that understand english will understand their commentary, meaning everyone watching would understand the dub but not all would understand sub.
I would rather look at their physical reactions rather than needing to look at the subtitles to understand what's going on at the moment.

@@whothefrickareyou8106 most people don't understand Japanese, but still watch subbed. Because subbed is typically better. Their voice acting is more look up to, here it's less of a big deal. Not only that, but i believe the original language is typically the best form, as that's it's original source. Translation issues aside. Dub can take liberties, see dragon maid anime. It's really that simple. Oh and the voices sound better. L in dub isn't good imo

The English Dub is good, but just a heads up, it has mistranslations, particularly one about L’s characterisation, that are pretty bad.

It is actually ironic cause it's the opposite. L is the one with resources, money etc who has been sheltered and groomed to be the genius he is. Light is the one working alone and could be considered the mad genius.

Why 😭😭😭😭😭 I was waiting for your reaction to this episode since you started from the first episode, but you watched it dubbed. Japanese voices performers are a million times better than English ones, but that's okay. It's still a nice reaction, and there will be more surprises in the coming episodes.

I'm all for them listening to this in dub, since there's so much to analyze it's much easier to receive and process the information in their own language (english dub) rather than reading, since there's so many twists and turns and strategies to process and analyze, and also allows them to watch the visuals without missing anything, When reading sub there's times where it's hard to know the exact way that someone is saying a certain word or phrase, and the exact tone of that word or phrase which can cause unnecessary questioning of "What did they mean by [insert phrase here]?" and can cause some important things to get missed, I get that alot of people prefer subs, but for such a complex story where you want to catch every tiny detail dub is easier to keep up with, and the dub is actually good.
@@dayleywhaley2420 But there are certain moments that are very uplifting, and are so mastered by the Japanese voice actors that they stick in your mind. I'm with them if they want to watch it dubbed, but they will miss moments that would be much better with sub

Thanks for the reaction as usual.
I just wanted to share my personal opinion...for death note the English version is spot on, but i think why's sub is usually better then the dub is because the Japanese voice actors are directly supervised by the directors in the studio, they are instructed to deliver the lines in certain way to match the original view of the producers... if you pay attention you can deduct the emotional state and the hidden meaning of the characters speech and you can have a fruitful watch of the show unlike with any other version.
But that is just my opinion, you guys can react to the show with what you are most comfortable with 😊😊, especially that the dub is good in the case of death note.
I hope i didn't miss up, I'm just practicing my English 😅😅😅

Yes! The dubbed! I'm glad you guys went back to it since there seems to be less pausing. I'm assuming that is because it's harder to read and watch at the same time. Either way, the dub of Death Note is good. It's rare I get to see a reaction to the dub anyway. Also, side note, it's amazing you guys still put on the subtitles for the hard of hearing and those who don't have English as a first language.

Better yet, don't say u prefer watching shows in a language you (most likely) don't understand. And even if you do, for anyone who doesn't speak Japanese, dubbed is objectively better. Subtitles pretty much never have the exact same lines and almost always change lines to make it easier to read within the time that the line is said. If they don't change lines, then people have to pause, rewind, and re read the text. Preference and enjoyment are 1 thing, but if you watch subbed you will objectively understand less and have a lesser experience. (Probably because while animators are going crazy with beautiful scenes, you're just reading inaccurate text from a program.) (This annoys me because Subs used to be okay but they've been dropping in quality for years and only anime fans are unaware because with out hearing the real lines in English, they just assume they got the full experience) If you like subbed, learn Japanese or STFU.

29:58 L then corners Light and straight up admits he is L to him in public after saying his name was Hideki Ryuga at the school exam a famous japanese pop star and actor this is for one so that if Light tries to kill L and write the name Hideki Ryuga and accidentally thinks of the pop star on TV while he was under surveillance with his sister Sayu Yagami then he would kill the real pop star and L would figure out that Light was responsible because only Light would think that L's real name was Hideki it's also good because if this L who might not be even the real one dies then everyone would immediately know that Light was in fact Kira and then the Real L in the background could just caught Light. Kira actually admits that L got him pretty good.

Thanks for switching to English dub. It makes watching the video 1000x easier to digest. Just saying if you guys keep doing anime reactions, you could easily be the only channel on youtube to do English dub anime reactions. Some people won't like it, but you guys could be the favorite anime reaction channel for people who share my opinion. If I found a dubbed only anime reaction channel, I don't think I could stop myself from joining the patreon. This show and Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood and maybe one punchman are they only anime that I can easily find a dubbed reaction to. Just saying

I don't understand it dosen't make sense, even if the dubs are somewhat good in Death Note they will never be as good as the sub version and also if you continue watching anime other than Death Note in the future you will have to watch it in japanese so try getting used to it now
death note got too much dialogue compared to most animes for them to read it while watching they not like us and i dont mind since this specific anime has one of the best dubs(they watch all other animes in sub anyway)
