FYI for anyone acne prone looking for in depth info, I run every foundation, spf, and skincare product through COSDNA to see if it has anything high on the comedogenic and/or irritation scale. It has served me very well. For example, I used to wear MAC Face and Body, but it has polyglyceryl-3 diisostearate which is a 4 out of 5 on the comedogenic scale. Just a thought.
Also, something may not have synthetic fragrance, but it might still have naturally derived fragrance that can still cause irritation. For instance, the MAC face and body has orange peel oil which is a natural fragrance and has been shown to be potentially irritating.
It is so frustrating that SPF is included in so many foundations. They give the false impression that the foundation includes enough SPF to be worthwhile and increase the chance of irritating your skin.
I like foundations with spf because I’m always scared that it’s impossible to apply makeup over sunscreen without diluting it/rubbing it off, so it mitigates my anxiety a teeny-tiny bit.
@@rachellopez8357 I worry about that too. It always bugs me to see beauty UA-camrs buff away their makeup while destroying their sunscreen layer underneath.
Something I don’t get is people get weird about pots, cushion products and sponge applicators when it comes to makeup….. but no one talks about how we constantly dip into a concealer and reuse the applicator, hygiene wise, it’s the same thing! 🤣
@@kaitlynstewart7672 Oh yes, of course, didn’t even think of that! lol how many times do we sanitize or wipe off our lip gloss or lipstick before we use it? Never lol.
i don't get that either. I personally put the concealer on my hand, a pallette or my (freshly cleaned) finger. The last one is the one I do mostly. And beyond hygiene I usually just use concealer (sometimes a skin tint) so I figure that applicator has to be picking up some of my skincare right? I can't imagine that's great for the formula
I love this comment. I personally do wash my face and hands before I am applying make up, but I also prefer not to dip my fingers straight into products and wash my brushes and sponges religiously :)
This Earth sign greatly appreciates your attention to detail and meticulous spreadsheets! Any way we could get one of these bad boys for tubing mascaras?
So what you're saying is *checks notes* that I need Fenty Ease Drop and Mac Face and Body even more than I already thought I did. You are an actual angel, that spreadsheet is a work of art.
I have found out that anything with an algae ingredient means gnarly cystic acne for me. And it’s kind of in a bunch of stuff now (foundations too!) Inreally appreciate this video!

this is SO fun and useful!! I made a google sheet years ago to figure out what my very dry skin is sensitive to, and it's mostly coconut oil and SHEA BUTTER (!!). I'm still shocked at how many products lean so heavily on those two ingredients, but my skin has become so cooperative by diligently avoiding them.
Well done Kackie! I loved this video and found it to be incredibly informative. I am 48 years old with peri-menopausal skin (dry around the eyes and very oily T- zone with hormonal breakouts) and this review has assisted me greatly. I have my eye on the Chantecaille now. Thanks! 🤩
As you were going through your foundations, I saw the LE, and decided to use it today. I forgot just how fantastic it is and it gets nicer and nicer looking as the day goes on! This was a great video, I love foundations, the application is calming to me, even watching someone else put it on is so great, thank you for your hard work, because I know it is.
I just bought the It Cosmetics Fondation and I really like it. I had to mix it with another Fondation for ance prevention. I really like cushions with skincare benefits, and it doesn't break me out.
I love that you have done spreadsheets!! Unfortunately, my uber-sensitive skin does not like most coconut derivatives. That's why I've been debating on the Nars.
Just get samples… I have tried most of the new launches minus Kosas ( the concealer irritated my skin so I didn’t bother with the foundation) anyhoo it’s way easier to just samples from Sephora then you don’t have to return product … I have not liked any of the new foundations snd I stick to my faithful Lancôme . 🤣fragrance free, oil free and perfection in a bottle . 😊
How does Salt New York Sneaky Balm fit in here? I love this video, I have dry sensitive skin too thanks so much for taking the time to put this together.
Love the sponsorship! I got a sample of the body lotion and immediately bought the full size. I also love that they are samples are recyclable/reusable packaging. I've been using the kosas deodorant but will have to give this one a try. And if you want a cheap body wash that is as gentle as you can get but will still get you clean try vanicream bar soap.
Hello, I decided to purchase the Saint foundation and if you have dry skin, you will love this. I do have dry skin and it looks dewy, beautiful and flawless. I did have to powder it even though I rarely powder my foundation but it still looks gorgeous
Thanks for bringing up the idea that physical sunscreens can cause irritation. I don't think that my skin is nearly as bothered by zinc oxide as it is chemical sunscreen but it still is not very happy when I wear it and so I would rather just use it when absolutely necessary rather than as part of my everyday face products. (I virtually always wear a Sunday Afternoons hat with SPF50 when outdoors and that works much better for me in terms of protecting my facial skin from sun than any kind of sunscreen anyway.)
I get irritated by chemical sunscreen. Before mineral sunscreen was common, my doctor said it wasn't worth trying to pinpoint which ingredient was causing the irritation. Best to just cover your skin.
I love this!! Thank you! The liquid-y ingredients are what tend to get me! I stick to my powder foundation and it’s never a source of irritation. But I will turn back to this when I want to try a liquid formula again!
Kackie couldn’t help but notice your back is acne free!! Yay! Probably bc I am over conscious of mine. Is this all you used to clear it?. Adult acne really sucks, thanks for this video🧡
Kackie, this is such an amazing video, so appreciated. I myself suffered from acne but my main trigger turns out to be essential oils or in general oils- especially lavender. Fragrance is actually okay for me but I don't really enjoy it. I love the lawless foundation, lisa eldridge and rare beauty ones the most out of your collection. A physical spf in my foundation does not seem to bother me :) I loved this video and you are rocking it!
UV rays can impede your skins ability to heal, prolonging acne healing. And of course making hyperpigmentation from acne marks last much longer. Use a mineral spf or a European/Asian chemical spf every day. In the long run it will help with healing of acne.
Honestly, at this point I don’t think a perfect foundation for me even exists… if it was as easy as eliminating some of the ingredients! I have combo oily skin, some constant dry af patches from a skin condition, acne prone and I have some huge acne scars that more liquidy foundations tend to gather in. Sometimes I wish for an influencer w a more problematic skin..

I'm just jumping on here to say thank you for recommending the Necessaire deodorant.. I purchased it yesterday, and it works wonders.. I was struggling finding a deodorant that actually works.. I don't mind sweating, but I don't want to be smelling like a fajita, lol..
Literally just in time, I’ve been eyeing SO MANY COMPLEXION PRODUCTS recently, but the problem is if I bought everything and tried it all there’s a 100% chance my skin will break out from the stress.
Please please post what you're wearing on your eyeballs and cheeks in this video! It happens to be the exact thing I'm looking for now. As for spreadsheet: yes, that, too. Thank you!
I am thinking that your chart would work better for me if the SPF column were converted to "SPF Free" (with Yes being green). And then what I would be looking for would be foundations that were green all the way across, rather than that one column being yellow for the preferred products.
Thank you so much for this, Kackie! My skin is extremely sensitive and unpredictable (is it a Cancerian thing?) and this is exactly the sort of content I’ve been needing. I have pretty much abandoned foundations with SPF because they make my face feel like it’s on fire. The two Chantecaille foundations here are absolutely gorgeous and happily agree with my persnickety complexion. Do you avoid blush when your skin is acting out? I tend to get very red, which makes blush problematic for me.
I don't buy cosmetics witihout checking ingredients now, because a lot of foundations contain ethylhexyl palmitate (a palm oil derivative) that clogs my pores like crazy, and I don't do fragrance anymore. It's helped a lot.

I hadn't looked into the Nars one yet because it is not positioned as "clean beauty" and so I will give that one a look. Great job overall! Bravo.
Oh, that Jane Iredale foundation is from England where 90% of the population is white and that one is not inclusive of a variety of shades at all (though some other Jane Iredale foundations do have a wider shade range). So that is unfortunate and could totally disqualify it from your list, perhaps.

Yup! You are not alone in that!!
